A call came over the radio of a fight taking place outside a book store. Jamie was nearby and responded.

When he got there he saw two guys fighting, officer Casey Reed and his partner Harper Johnson were on the scene trying to break it up. Jamie got out to help.

"Get off me!" The big guy said and pushed Harper to the ground.

"Woah!" Jamie ran to help.

"Hey! You think you're tough!? Huh!?" Casey took the guy to the ground and got handsy. Harper got up and cuffed the guy Casey did have, before he went rogue on hers.

"REED!" Jamie yelled and Casey stopped beating on him.

"Take a minute!" Jamie intervened and cuffed the guy himself.

"It's my collar." Reed told him.

"Not anymore." He said.

After they got back to the precinct and got the guys taken care of Jamie called Harper to his office.

"You feeling okay?" He asked her.

"Yeah, couple scrapes and bruises, could be worse." She said.

"Good, now I gotta ask…how long you and Reed been involved?" He asked her. She turned pretty red.

"Uh…" she was caught of guard.

"Weeks? Months?" He asked.

"Bout 2 months…" she said nervously.

"That's what I thought. Dismissed." He said.

"That's it?" She was very confused.

"For now. Now go tell Reed I wanna talk to him too." He said.

"Sarge…if it's any consolation…it's more lust then love…and I don't-"

"Stop." Jamie closed his eyes holding his hand for her to say no more.

"Sorry." She said.

"Go get Reed, not another word."

She left the office.

When Casey got to the office, Jamie could tell he was nervous.

"Sit down. I'm guessing Johnson gave you a heads up bout what this was about?" Jamie wondered.

"She did…I just don't understand…" he said.

"How don't you understand? You can't be riding with someone you have feelings for!" Jamie firmly stated.

"We don't love each other, we're just sleeping together." Casey said shrugging it off.

"Doesn't matter, I can't have-"

"You and Janko were partners!" He interrupted.

"Not for long, and this isn't about me and my wife. This is about you and whatever you wanna call this. You got two options, I assign you two a new partner, which could move one of you to midnights, or one of you switches houses." Jamie said.

"Uh." Casey groaned.

"Go talk to her about it and both of you come back with an answer by the end of the day." He said.

"Yes sir." Casey said and left. Jamie wanted to be harder on him but he couldn't help the fact that he was in the same boat (for the most part) he half felt bad for that guy.

A half hour later Eddie went to Jamie's office.

"Hey." She said.

"Hey…what's up?" Jamie said closing up the work he was doing.

"Pop called, Alaina's got a fever, and she's really tired and sad, crying for you." She said.

"Aw. Well…I'm kinda in the middle of something…" he hesitated.

"Oh?" She came in and sat down."

"No no I can't tell you…here." He said looking around the precinct, through his glass windows.

"Haha alright, I guess I can wait until tonight." She laughed.

"Yeah, well why don't you head home for Alaina, I'll be home normal, maybe sooner if I can." He said.

"Okayyy." She said and got up to leave.

When Eddie got home Ryan was asleep and Alaina was laying in the couch against Henry watching toy story.

"Oh there she is…" Henry said so Alaina would look to see.

"Aww hi sweetie." She said going to see her, she didn't show much excitement. She looked so sick, and tired.

"She hasn't slept much, she was waiting for Jamie or you." Henry said and got up. Alaina started crying.

"Mommy's here now, you feel better okay?" He told her and left. Eddie sat down to take his spot, she laid her head on her lap

"Go to sleep Lain." She said and brushed her hand through her hair.

After she fell asleep she successfully carried her to her bed just before Ryan was waking up. So she went in to get him.

"Aww bud, you feel warm too." She said when he snuggled into her. She changed his diaper and took him to his high chair for a snack.

"Oooo, yummy." She said putting a couple cheerios on his tray. He had no interest, he put his arms up wanting to be held. Eddie knew it was gonna be a long day and night.

She texted Jamie to tell him and literally 5 minutes later he was walking in the door.

"Oh. Did you see my text?" She said.

"Yeah but I already was on my way."

"Why?" Eddie asked.

"Cause I felt bad, she was sick and you were alone to do it all." Jamie said.

"Awww, well their both sick, he doesn't want his snack, so we're gonna snuggle and watch paw patrol." She said going to the living room.

"Sounds good to me." Jamie said.

"I thought you had stuff going on at work? That you wouldn't tell me about?" Eddie asked.

"Technically I shouldn't cause I could get in trouble with the CO if he finds out I knew." Jamie said sitting down.

"Oooo dramaaaa" Eddie sang.

"Yeah so Reed and Johnson are a thing I guess and-"

"REED AND JOHNSON!? WHAT!?" Eddie cut him off.

"…HARPER Johnson! Not Sam Johnson!" Jamie corrected, Eddie laughed.

"I was gonna say, did NOT see that coming." She said.

"Yeah, so I told him, either new partners or new houses."

"Tough choice." Eddie said.

"Yeah, I think he should go to a new house." Jamie said.

"Why's that?"

"Cause he told me it was just sex…not love and we know that doesn't last forever so he should do himself a favor that when they break up he won't have to see her as much if they work in separate precincts." He said.

"Smart…almost like you've done this before…" Eddie said suspicious.

"Me? No! I'm just trying to put myself in his shoes is all."

"How'd you even know they were a thing?" Eddie asked.

"Responded to a call, they were stopping a fight and she got pushed and he beat him up for it…reminded me of something I've done…"

"Mhm mhm…definitely got feelings there." Eddie smiled and nudged.

"If I could go back and change it…I still wouldn't." Jamie said and kissed her.

Little drama going on at the 2-9! And the poor kids sick, again! Hopefully They feel better soon. What do you think Casey and Harper should decide? And do you think Jamie could get in trouble for this from Espinosa?
