Good Morning

Author's Note: Just something soft and sweet on a Thursday. Let me know what you think.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

He felt her body wake up as she lay nuzzled into his arm which he now had lost all feeling in. He had been sitting there for the better part of 20 minutes trying to think of a way he could extract himself from Liz.

He shifted his gaze down at her as her eyes fluttered.

"Good morning," he said with a gravelly voice and a smile.

"Where are we?" Liz asked as she looked around.

"The back of our SUV," Ressler said with a slight snicker.

She sat up abruptly and he pulled his arm back and started to rub it to get the feeling back.

"Why are we...?" Liz asked as she wiped at a small bit of drool on the corner of her mouth.

"I was exhausted and so were you," he said as he winced with the pins and needles. "We pulled over into this park to get 20 minutes before driving again and...the sun looks like it's about to rise."

Liz reached for her phone and looked. It was almost 6:30 am.

"Oh my god, it's been hours," she said as she turned to look at him.

"I guess we were more tired than we thought," Ressler said, still trying to get rid of the pins and needles.

"Why didn't we just sleep in the...?" Liz asked as she finger combed her hair and tried to remember last night.

"The blanket didn't stretch," Ressler chuckled. "And you insisted I needed..."

"Right," Liz nodded as she reached down and picked up the blanket that had fallen off them at some point during the night. "I didn't want you cold."

"I said I'd be fine," Ressler said, stretching his legs out and reaching for his door handle.

"You would have complained about shivers all day if you hadn't shared the blanket," Liz scoffed as she too reached for her door handle.

"Says you," Ressler replied as he opened his door and stepped out of their SUV to the chill of morning and felt a chill wash over his body at the loss of not only the inside of the vehicle but her warmth.

In truth he had liked her suggestion. They had been dancing around 'them' for quite some time and snuggling up with Liz in the back seat of a car was not something that was difficult. He'd even kissed the top of her head before they fell asleep and she had wrapped her arms around his torso and snuggled in a lot more than you would with a co-worker. It had been a brief, they were tired, intimate conversation before one or both of them knocked off. She had said how she liked this and could get used to it and he had said she was welcome any time. Of course, they were who they were and had not addressed anything directly, but it was something.

"Jesus Christ it's damp," Liz said from the other side of the car.

"We should have got a room," Ressler said as he stretched his back and winced.

There was no response and Ressler wasn't sure if she was offended by his suggestion or didn't hear it.

He opened his door and moments later she got inside the passenger door and did up her seat belt before he climbed inside.

He looked over at her and wasn't sure if he should say something about the room comment, the kiss on the top of her head or any of the million other things he needed to say to her.

She turned her head and gave him a soft smile. "Coffee?"

The moment was gone and he nodded before he started the car and pulled away.
