TO make this I did research on Kaguya, Kanna, Moroha, and Toga... and Ursuae.
"She really should be nicer," Mathew said to Grandpa Higurashi, patting his back.
The man sighed, nodding. "I know she does not have our appreciation for the past, but I had hoped she would enjoy the relic I gave her."
Turning away, he grabbed the book next to him and blew on it, dispelling the dust and other crud that had accumulated on it. " Speaking of relics, there is really a lot of crap here that you haven't moved about yet. It's a good thing we are organizing it all."
The man nodded, sadly. "There is too much for me to maintain... which is why you're going to be inheriting my shrine when I pass."
Mathew choked. "What?"
"Oh yes, I have named you as my heir, Mathew."
"But I've only known you and your family for a year, since you lot took me in." it was true, he had only been living with the Hagrashi's for a year, ever since Mama Higarashi found him living in an ally not too far from her home. The woman was horrified to learn of his status, since his family abandoned him after moving to Japan, and took him instantly. She got her foster license and took him in without fail.
He bonded with the entire family without hesitation, Sota was his adorable brother, Kagome was his irritating sister, and Grandpa Higarashi was his best friend. They shared a deep love of history and mythology and the past. They spent hours organizing the stock, learning about historical events and the magic apparently used by people of old. Sutras and spells were a frequent part of his lessons.
Grandpa seemed to read his shock well. "You are my grandson, blood or not. You love this shrine more than Sota or Kagome, you will inherit it."
Moved, he embraced the old man. "Thank you... so much."
"Not a problem, my boy." He handed Mathew a book. "I think you will need to decipher this book, you seem to have a talent for that and frankly without being able to read it it isn't worth as much to the shrine."
Nodding, Mathew put the book under his arm... just about when Sota burst into the shed they were in. "GRANDPA, KAGOME GOT PULLED INTO THE WELL BY A MONSTER!"
Without hesitating, Mathew rushed after to the well, and towards Kagome, desperate to help his family to the point he just stopped thinking. He saw light blossoming from the well and threw himself into it, following after his sister.
That was when things got weird. The book under his arm exploded in green light, and he felt warmth rush through him as he fell... spiralling into infinity until he landed on the well... above an open sky and not the shed he was just in moments ago. Hurrying out of the well, he saw Kagome walking into a forest and followed after. He was just about to yell her name, when he saw the girl tugging on the ears of a boy grabbed in red... pinned to a tree with roots and a literal arrow to the chest.
"Are those dog ears?" he asked aloud.
Before he could yell, a rustle drew their attention. A crowd of men, all dressed in medieval clothes, appeared holding spears and bows.
"You there! What're you up to?!" One hollered as the others fired their arrows. Somehow they all missed, but that mattered little as before Mathew could even flinch, he was bumrushed alongside Kagome. Within moments they were both tied up and carried off on horses, gagged as to not say a word. She saw him and her eyes widened, shock and fear present. He tried to be reassuring, with warmth in his eyes but he was sure he failed.
And so he was quiet, they both were, as they were carried of to a distant village... and it was only here, now that he was no longer entirely focused on Kagome, that Mathew realized a few things. He saw no buildings of any massive size, no roads or even his old shrine. The world didn't smell of smog and metal. This was an entirely new place, and somehow he found it by diving into the well.
'Where the hell am I?'
Chapter end, tell me what you think in the reviews.
This is a redo of like three ideas worked out with a friend of mine to get the kinks out. Like power, structure and other things...
Love, your Ninja Overlord,
