A/N: Hello, my faithful 'olake' readers. It has been a long time since I have updated. Good news is I finally finished the story. I will be posting one chapter every Saturday until it is finished, starting today March 13. Please leave a review because that's the only way I will know if you're still enjoying this story. This is my version of giving Olake fans their HEA.

Title: Will Love Overcome?

Summary: Jake and Olivia always had horrible timing when they tried at a relationship. Now that there's no hope with Fitz and Jake admitting his heart belongs to Olivia, will the timing finally be right between them? Or will fate continue to keep them apart? 'Olake' endgame. Set during S5 E18 Till Death Do Us Part where 'Olake' meet just before he is set to wed Vanessa. Rated T for now.

Chapter 3

(Jake wasn't entirely surprised to see Rowan at his front door. He knew it was only a matter of time before the two men would cross paths again. In all honesty, Jake thought Rowan it would have happened sooner. The two men stared at each other for a few moments until Rowan finally spoke)

Rowan: "Jake."

Jake: (nods) "Rowan." (raises his eyebrows) "I was wondering when you'd show your face."

(Rowan helps himself inside of the apartment, causing Jake to roll his eyes)

Jake: "Sure. Come right in."

(Rowan walks a few steps before turning around to face Jake)

Rowan: "I gave you time to think about what you've done. Have you come to your senses?"

(Jake raises his hands in confusion)

Jake: "About what?"

Rowan: (nods) "You can still marry Vanessa and complete our business arrangement."

(Jake tried to stifle a laugh)

Jake: "You're kidding, right?"

(Rowan shakes his head in a condescending manner)

Rowan: "Why would I be kidding about this?" (gestures) "Just admit to Vanessa that you made a mistake in not going through with the wedding and that you're ready to be with her forever."

Jason: (scoffs) "You're really delusional, you know that, right?"

Rowan: (serious tone) "I expect you to follow through, Ballard."

Jake: "Then you won't be happy to know I already told Vanessa the truth."

(Rowan turns his head slightly and raises his eyebrows)

Rowan: "Excuse me? What-What do you mean 'the truth'?"

Jake: (nods) "Exactly like it sounded. She wanted to know the truth about why I couldn't marry her. I told her about the business arrangement and that I don't love her. That I am in love with someone else, even if she doesn't love me back."

(Rowan's eyes grow wide as he looks like he wants to punch somebody)

Rowan: (screams) "Have you lost your goddamn mind?! What the fuck possessed you to do that?!"

Jake: "Unlike you, I actually care about her feelings. She didn't deserve to be treated like that."

Rowan: (shouts) "I don't give a fuck what she deserved or your sudden act of conscience!"

Jake: (chuckles incredulously) "You know something, Rowan? It wouldn't kill you to be a little more caring. No wonder everyone is afraid of you. As far as I can tell, you have no heart and no soul."

(Rowan laughs hard before speaking)

Rowan: (smirks) "I showed Olivia 'my soul' as you put it and she made the right decision."

(Jake didn't know what the hell Rowan was talking about. What does Olivia have to do with anything? Jake walks towards Rowan in a questionable state)

Jake: "What does Olivia have to do with this?"

Rowan: (chuckles) "Oh, she didn't tell you? Good." (sneers) "At least some people know how to keep their word."

(Jake was growing more suspicious of the man in front of him)

Jake: "Did you have something to do with Olivia breaking up with me?"

Rowan: (shrugs) "I didn't know that you two were together, as you were technically engaged to Vanessa."

(Jake thinks for a moment before throwing out another accusation)

Jake: "It was you, wasn't it? You got to her. She won't admit it since she's afraid of you, but the way she acted..."

Rowan: "It doesn't make a difference whether or not I had anything to do with Olivia, Ballard. You made a commitment to me. I expect you to honor it."

Jake: (spits) "Even though you are threatening me to do it?"

(Rowan spreads apart his hands as he tilts his head)

Rowan: "'Threatening' is such an ugly word. I prefer the term...encouraging you." (nods) "I like that better."

Jake: "Call it what you want. I'm out."

(Jake attempts to walk past Rowan, but Rowan grabs Jake's arm, causing them both to face each other)

Rowan: "Are you forgetting what you just said? That everyone is afraid of me? Are you sure you want to double cross me?"

(Jake takes his arm back in force and walks away)

Rowan: "You're forgetting that I own you. I made you and I can break you just like that." (snapping his fingers)

(Jake couldn't believe that he was getting sucked back into this lunatic's world...again. He sighs deeply as he faces his boss)

Jake: "It's kinda sad that even your daughter is afraid of you. One would think that you'd treat her as your own flesh and blood, considering that's what she is."

Rowan: "I've treated her that way all her life. She knows she can never truly turn her back on me. And neither can you."

(Jake shrugs his shoulders in defeat)

Jake: "Even if I told Vanessa I wanted her back, she would never take me back. She knows the truth."

Rowan: "I'm sure that you will find some way. Remember, we need her connections for the Vice-Presidential spot."

Jake: "It just kills you that you're not getting what you want, doesn't it? That you want more power and now you may not get it."

Rowan: "If you hadn't betrayed me to begin with, we wouldn't be in this position."

(Jake couldn't help but gloat that Rowan hadn't seen Jake's choice coming. He chuckles as he shakes his head)

Jake: "It's not my fault that you didn't see it coming. For the record, though, you got what you wanted when it comes to Olivia." (angrily) "I would've chosen her. Somehow, that wasn't enough for her and she broke my heart."

(Rowan shows no emotion as he continues to face Jake. He knew what really happened, but Jake didn't need to know. Deep down, Rowan knew his daughter would choose doing what's right versus following her heart. He was proud of his daughter. She could have risked Jake's life to be happy, but she chose to spare him in the end. Rowan couldn't help twisting the knife a bit)

Rowan: "You don't have to worry about Olivia. She will be much happier with Fitz." (tilts his head) "She may care for you, but know one thing: In the end, she didn't choose you. She chose him. Wherever you two are in life, she will always choose him. Remember that the next time you decide that she's worth taking a risk for."

(As Rowan walks to the door, he speaks)

Rowan: "Watch your back, Ballard, because make no mistake, I WILL get my revenge."

(Rowan shuts the door behind him. Jake shakes his head vehemently before throwing an empty beer bottle that was on the table across the room. He shouts while it breaks into a million pieces against the wall)

Jake: (huffs) "SOMEHOW, YOU FUCKER, I WILL GET BACK AT YOU FOR RUINING MY LIFE!"

***OPA***

(Quinn and Huck look at each other nervously before facing their boss again)

Quinn: "That's a bad idea."

Huck: (shakes his head) "It will never work."

Olivia: (nods) "Don't worry. It will."

(Olivia walks a few steps and folds her arms. Quinn and Huck shake their head in agreement as they wonder what Olivia could possibly be thinking)

Quinn: "How the hell is sacrificing yourself for Jake going to work?"

Huck: "I thought you told him you didn't want him, anyway?"

(Olivia looks at them and nods confidently)

Olivia: "It will work. I know it will."

Quinn: (folds her arms & shrugs) "Okay, how?"

(Olivia walks to her employees as she makes her case)

Olivia: "My father has always wanted me by his side, right?"

Huck: (nods) "Yeah. So?"

Olivia: "Well, now he will finally get what he wants. I'm not leaving this company, but I am sure he will have me do favors for him or whatever."

Quinn: (raises her eyebrows) "And if those 'favors' happen to be illegal?"

Olivia: (chuckles) "Quinn, you know full well...Huck, too...that there have been times when we've done illegal things to get what we want." (sighs) "Does that make it right?" (shakes her head) "Probably not. But I'll do what I have to in order to keep Jake safe."

Huck: (offers) "I can try killing Command. Granted, it would require some planning, but I'm sure I can do it."

(Olivia sighs sadly at her friends' offer. She knows he is capable of it, but she didn't want him risking his freedom for her)

Olivia: (polite smile) "I appreciate it, Huck. Really, I do. But I don't want you putting yourself at risk for me and my problems." (nods) "This is my problem that I need to fix."

Quinn: "Even if it's a mistake? You know that you will never win against Rowan."

Huck: (nods) "He's definitely lethal."

(Olivia faces them with a serious expression)

Olivia: "I will do whatever it takes. I'm protecting the man I love. Even if Jake and I never get back together, at least I'll know that he is safe."
