Title: Will Love Overcome?

Chapter 5

(Olivia prepares to take the next step in her plan. She just hopes that it works. She has no problem showing others who is boss. When it came to Rowan, though, all bets were off. She knocks on the door to Rowan's house. He is caught off-guard to see his daughter standing at his doorstep)

Rowan: "Olivia. What a pleasant surprise."

Olivia: "This isn't a social visit."

Rowan: (nods) "I gathered that by the seriousness on your face." (clears his throat) "Come in."

(Rowan opens the door wide enough to let his daughter in. He shuts the door and leads her to the living room. Olivia faces her father with her arms folded. Rowan rests his hands in his pants pockets)

Rowan: "What can I do for you?"

Olivia: "I'm here to make a deal with you."

(Rowan raises his eyebrows in curiousness and turns his head slightly)

Rowan: "Oh? What kind of a deal are you willing to make?"

Olivia: "You leave Jake alone...for good...and I will stand by your side. It is obvious that is what you have always wanted. Unless I'm wrong?"

Rowan: (shakes his head) "No. You know that it has always been my dream to have you by my side. That's the way that it should have always been."

Olivia: "You know why I couldn't before. You were always issuing threats. You know damn well I don't respond well to them."

(Rowan nods as he walks around the living room. As he thinks about his next move, Olivia sighs deeply with impatience. She hated wondering what he was thinking and she couldn't attempt to make a guess)

Olivia: (rolls her eyes) "I'm waiting. I'm not going to wait around all night."

(Rowan sits down on his couch and gets comfortable. He leans back and crosses his legs, one over the other. He folds his arms and shrugs)

Rowan: "Are you sure you can let go of Jake completely? I know you still care for him."

Olivia: (scoffs) "How the hell do you know how I feel? You don't have a sincere bone in your body. You don't have a fucking heart. Come to think of it. I wonder if you ever had one."

Rowan: (shrugs) "I was good to you growing up, wasn't I?"

(Olivia huffs as she turns her head to the side)

Olivia: "Yeah, when I didn't know any better. With you and mom at each other's throats when I was old enough to understand..." (faces Rowan) "...you two weren't the most stable parents." (folds her arms) "As for Jake, I will do whatever it takes to keep him safe."

(Rowan can't help but admire his daughter's sacrifice. He tilts his head and sighs)

Rowan: 'You really do love him, don't you?"

(Olivia faces her father angrily)

Olivia: "As if you knew the meaning of the word."

(She takes a few steps towards Rowan and points at him in a warning tone)

Olivia: "If you betray me in any way, all bets are off. You may think you're GOD to some people, but I won't put up with it. Got it?"

(Rowan chuckles as he gets off the couch and walks to his daughter. He nods and smiles confidently)

Rowan: "I knew that you would make the right decision."

***OPA***

(Quinn and Huck pace around the conference table as they think aloud)

Quinn: "We need to come up with a plan."

Huck: (nods) "To get Olivia out of Rowan's clutches so she can be with Jake. I know."

(Quinn raises her head and sighs deeply as she tries to think)

Quinn: "You know, I've come up with lots of great plans over the years. I pride myself on that. So why is it so goddamned hard to think of one now?"

Huck: "We'll think of something. We always do. Don't sell us short yet."

(Huck rubs his chin as he tries to think of ideas. Quinn, meanwhile, takes a seat at the conference table. She rests her forehead against her hands and leans forward with her elbows near the edge of the table)

Quinn: "It would have to be something against Rowan. Something that he thinks is hidden. Yes, he's been good at hiding his secrets. But there's gotta be something that even he didn't hide very well."

Huck: "You do know that you're talking about Command, right? Psychopaths like Rowan cover up their dirt very well."

(Quinn raises her head to face Huck)

Quinn: "People always make mistakes. Even the evil psychopaths. Maybe not very often, but they do. We just have to dig deep. You can use your amazing computer techniques and hack into his system."

Huck: (nods) "Yes, I can. I'll see what I can dig up."

(Huck goes to his computer in his office and begins to work. He prided himself on being an excellent hacker. He was confident he could find something. Quinn stayed in the conference room and started going through all the files Olivia had on Rowan. Even though they've been over those files more times than they could count, Quinn thought that maybe they missed something)

(She sighs in frustration. There had to be something about the asshole that slipped by them. She jumped up in a panic at the loud noise that appeared to come from her partner's office)

Quinn: "Huck, are you okay?"

(When Huck doesn't answer, Quinn decides to go check on him. When she reaches his office, she finds a few things on the floor. Huck is sitting on his chair at the computer with his head down. Something had to have happened as he was alarmingly quiet. She looks at him with concern on her face)

Quinn: "Talk to me." (brief pause) "Did you find something?"

(Huck slowly looks up at Quinn with a defeated expression)

Huck: "Something I wish I hadn't."

Quinn: (confused) "Why do you say that?"

Huck: "It concerns Olivia."

Quinn: (turns her head slightly) "Okay, you're scaring me."

Huck: (nods cautiously) "I'm a bit scared, too. Something tells me that she doesn't know this."

***White House***

(Fitz is at his desk going through some forms in The Oval Office. He sighs deeply as he tries to get the previous days events out of his mind. He couldn't stand Rowan. To top it off, the asshole made the insinuation that Olivia wanted him back. Fitz knew that wasn't true. He and Olivia had made the clean break from each other. Fitz accepted it and so did Olivia that it was over. Just as Fitz tries to regain his focus, there's a knock at the door)

Fitz: "Come in."

(The door opens with Lexie coming in, following by Jake)

Lexie: "Jake Ballard to see you, sir."

Fitz: "Thank you, Lexie. You can close the door behind you."

(Lexie does as she's told, leaving Jake and Fitz alone)

Fitz: "Jake, what can I do for you?"

(Jake walks to Fitz's desk, he leans against its edge)

Jake: (scoffs) "I guess I should congratulate you on winning Olivia. I should've known that it was only a matter of time before she truly chose you."

(Fitz sighs deeply as he gets up from his chair and walks around his desk to stand in front of Jake. He folds his arms across his chest)

Fitz: "I want to make something clear to you. It's obvious something or someone got into your head. I did NOT, repeat NOT win Olivia. We decided to not be together. You wanna know how I came to know this? Because she told me that she loves you."

(Jake raises his head and laughs)

Jake: "Wow! So, she has us both fooled! Fitz, don't you see what she's doing? She's playing us both!"

Fitz: (raises his eyebrows) "Did you know that Rowan came to visit me the other day? He offered to help me get Olivia back. He claims Olivia says she loves me." (shakes his head) "We both know that she doesn't."

(Fitz walks to the couch and sits down. He leans forward and rests his elbows on his thighs. Jake faces his foe)

Fitz: "I don't know what kind of a game Olivia's playing. I admit I have noticed a few times in the past when she has played games of sorts. However, I will say this, Jake. When she does this, it means her back was against the wall. She probably has no way out. I've known her long enough to see this. I'm surprised you haven't noticed."

(Jake walks to Fitz and raises his hands to his sides in defeat)

Jake: "How can I know that, huh? Fitz, how the hell can I? I have poured my heart out to her repeatedly and she insists she doesn't feel anything for me. She has made it VERY clear that she wants you. I did feel at first she was lying. I even thought that Rowan was behind it. She won't admit it and I can't force it out of her. I can only hear it so many times before I'm forced to believe it."

(Fitz sighs deeply as he leans back against the couch in helplessness)

Fitz: "I don't know what to tell you, Jake. All I can tell you is what Olivia and I decided to do...it won't work out as she admitted that she doesn't want to be in my world. She likes hers just fine. As much as I don't like it, I need to respect it." (shrugs) "Whether she admits it or not, Jake..."

(Fitz briefly looks down as he hated admitting defeat of any kind, but he knew Jake needed to hear it)

Fitz: "It is you who holds her heart. It's always been you."

(Jake shakes his head and looks down, placing his hands on his hips. He was more confused than ever)
