Title: Will Love Overcome?

Chapter 9

***The Next Day***

(Jake knows that something is off with Olivia, Huck and Quinn. However, he is determined not to give up. He is currently at his place and is ready to leave to go to the hotel. After he's all set, he leaves his apartment to go to the hotel. Once he reaches the front desk, he sees a guy in a hotel uniform)

Jake: "Hello. I'm renting the top suite for the night. I'll be having company later."

Hostess: (nods) "Yes, Mr. Corbin. Here is your key. I'll let your company know you've arrived."

(Jake takes the key and nods before walking away to his destination. Once he reaches the top floor, he goes to his hotel room and lets himself in. He looks around and is pleased with how the night is going so far. He calls the front desk and orders two chef salads. One with ranch dressing for him and the other with French dressing for Olivia. Within forty-five minutes, the food has arrived. After tipping the waiter, Jake gets comfortable on the couch as he waited for the woman he adored)

***OPA***

(Olivia gets her briefcase ready as he spoke to Quinn and Huck)

Olivia: "So, our new client is waiting at the Star Hotel? What's his name again?"

Quinn: "Yes, he's waiting for you and his name is Mr. Corbin." (slight smile) "He sounded a bit mysterious and is looking forward to meeting you."

Olivia: (perplexed look) "Why not all three of us?"

Huck: "He'll meet us all next time. For now, it's just you."

Olivia: (shrugs) "Okay. Whatever."

(A thought just occurred to Olivia, causing her to face her to sidekicks)

Olivia: "This new client and why you're not in on the meeting too….it's not Jake, is it?"

Quinn: (weird look) "Why would it be Jake?"

Olivia: (nods) "That's why I'm asking you two. Is it?"

Huck: (shakes his head) "No."

(Olivia raises her hands to her sides and sighs in defeat)

Olivia: "Okay, I just wanted to make sure. I need to continue to protect Jake. Otherwise, everything I've done so far would have been for nothing."

(Olivia finished getting her briefcase ready and then gets her coat on. After, she leaves the building. Olivia gets to the Star Hotel and walks to the front desk where she sees a young man in uniform coming to her)

Olivia: "Hello. I'm Olivia Pope. I have a meeting with a Mr. Corbin."

Hostess: "Yes, Miss Pope. Mr. Corbin is expecting you. Here is a key to allow yourself in."

(After taking the key, Olivia gets on the elevator to go to the top floor. After the elevator opens, Olivia gets out. She walks to the front door and uses her key to unlock it. She allows herself inside and shuts the door behind her)

Olivia: "Hello? Mr. Corbin? It's me, Olivia Pope. Are you here?"

(Olivia sits on the couch and cross her legs)

Olivia: "Mr. Corbin?"

Man's voice: "Yep, I'm here."

(Olivia's eyes widened a bit as she looks around without moving her head. Wait a minute. She'd know that voice anywhere)

Olivia: (stutters) "J-J-Jake? Is that you?"

(Olivia hears movements coming towards her until they're face to face by the couch. The target smiles at her)

Jake: "Yep, it's me."

Olivia: "I'm waiting for a Mr. Corbin at this suite."

Jake: (nods) "That would be me."

Olivia: "How…" (sighs)

(She slides her hands through her black semi curly hair as she speaks again in frustration)

Olivia: "How did you pull all of this off?"

(After thinking about it for a few moments, she slowly closes her eyes and shakes her head, opening her eyes again)

Olivia: "Quinn and Huck."

(Jake sits down on the chair next to the couch and speaks)

Jake: "They know that you've been hard on yourself regarding the whole situation. I approached them asking what the deal is and Quinn couldn't tell me. Saying only you could. But, we agreed that I would get you alone and we would discuss this, once and for all."

Olivia: (sighs deeply) "There's nothing to talk about. I already told you that."

(Olivia gathers her briefcase and her purse)

Olivia: "I already told you, Jake. There's nothing to discuss. You just can't accept it."

(Olivia attempts to leave once she realizes what happened, but Jake rushes to the front door to stop her)

Jake: "It's time for us to talk, Liv. Once and for all. Get everything out on the table. The lies need to stop and I think you would agree."

(Olivia folds her arms over her chest and looks at him in anger)

Jake: (shrugs) "You can look pissed off all you want, Pope. It's not going to make a difference. We need to talk. No more you leaving or saying it's useless."

Olivia: "It is useless."

(Jake walks to her until they're mere inches apart and can feel the others breath. He stares at her in the eyes)

Jake: "I love you and I'm not giving up or leaving until you talk."

(Olivia shake her head in a huff and continues not to look. She tries to avoid him like before by walking around him and sitting back on the couch. She sighs deeply and briefly looks to the ceiling, momentarily closing her eyes. She couldn't believe that he was doing this to her AGAIN! What the hell did she have to do to say so he got the fucking picture?! She gets up from the couch and walks to the door. She puts her hand on the door handle. Before she can turn it, he rests his hand over hers, gently taking her hand off the handle)

Olivia: (sighs) "Jake, what are you doing?"

(Jake ignores her as he continues his mission. He takes her hand to his mouth and kisses each finger knuckle slowly, like he's done many times before in the past when they were together. She watches him with intensity and remembers how he'd do this when they were together. She wanted to fight him SO bad, so bad. All of these feelings and emotions were coming back within seconds)

Jake: (low tone) "You can avoid me all you want, but we're not leaving."

(Jake looks at Olivia right in the eyes with so much passion and puts his hands on both sides of her cheeks so they're looking into each other's eyes)

Jake: "I will keep saying it until you believe it in your heart. Olivia Carolyn Pope, I love you with all of my heart and soul. You are the only woman I want. PLEASE know that, baby."

(Olivia can no longer fight the tears from falling down her cheeks. As if the next step was only natural, they immediately leaned forward and passionately kissed. Oh, that kiss. It felt so right. It felt like heaven)

(As if they knew what the next step was, Olivia and Jake begin undressing each other. Their kiss doesn't stop, but becomes more passionate. They breathe deeply from the lack of oxygen)

(All of a sudden, Jake's phone starts ringing. Their kiss breaks even though either of them want it to end. He checks his phone and frowns when he wonders who's trying to call him as he doesn't recognize the number)

(Olivia's face is confused when she sees Jake's expression. She looks at him with concern and then his phone)

Olivia: "What's wrong?"

(Jake shakes his head in confusion as he raises his hand like he didn't understand. The phone stops ringing)

Jake: "I-I don't recognize the number. It-It's like it's from another state or something. Huh."

(Jake looks up at Olivia, who faces him)

Jake: "Do you recognize it?"

Olivia: (shakes her head) "No, I don't. Never seen it before in my life."

(Jake shakes his head and briefly closes his eyes before facing the love of his life)

Jake: "Sorry for the interruption. Where were we?" (smiles a bit)

(Just when Olivia is about to admit that she loves Jake and wants him and only him, her phone rings and sees it's from Elijah)

Olivia: "Uh, I-I have to go. I have to take this. It's important. Our conversation will have to be continued until later."

(Before Jake can respond, Olivia readjusts herself, takes her briefcase and purse and leaves. Elijah texts and says they need to meet ASAP)

(While Jake is confused why Olivia had to leave, he decides to investigate his phone call. He wants to find out where the number is from and who it is)
