Chapter 10
***Elijah's House***
Olivia: "You know something? I'm getting tired of all of these demands that you're making."
(Olivia and Elijah are in the living room before he speaks)
Elijah: "Well, if you would follow my demands, I wouldn't need to make more. What have I said before? I want you to have absolutely NO contact with Jake Ballard."
(Olivia gives him a puzzled look and shakes her head before speaking)
Olivia: "There hasn't been."
(Elijah crosses his arms over his chest with narrowed eyes)
Elijah: "I'm not stupid, Liv. I know you've been in contact with Jake. That ends now."
(Olivia privately wondered how Elijah knew)
Elijah: "Olivia, you have two choices…you join me like you and I planned or I end Ballard's life. You have 24 hours to think it over. Less than 24 hours now as we spoke earlier." (smiles a little) "I'm certain that you'll make the right choice."
(Olivia walks out of her father's house in a huff. When she gets close to her vehicle, she makes a call)
Olivia: "We need a meeting…NOW."
***About a Half Hour Later***
(In the conference room at OPA, Olivia, Huck, and Quinn discuss what's happened so far)
Olivia: "Well, I thought I was being careful. I guess I wasn't…not enough, anyway. Elijah has given me 24 hours…less than that now….to make a choice…stand by him like he's always planned or he'll kill Jake. I think it's safe to say my father needs to be stopped…and NOW."
Quinn: "He should have been stopped a long time ago."
Huck: "He's a loose cannon. It's time to put an end to it."
Olivia: "I don't get something." (shakes her head) "Why did you two set Jake and I up?"
Quinn: (shrugs) "It's simple. You and Jake love each other and deserve to be together."
Huck: "BUT you need to tell Jake the truth as he deserves to know."
Olivia: "I need to keep him safe, so it's not a good idea."
Quinn: "Jake can protect himself. It's not fair to keep him in the dark."
(Quinn raises her eyebrows and points at Olivia)
Quinn: "You know I'm right, Liv."
(Olivia sighs deeply in defeat as she knew that her trusted sidekicks were right)
Olivia: "Elijah gave me 24 hours to come to a decision. I'll tell Jake in the morning as it's late."
(Quinn and Huck can tell something is on Olivia's mind from the way she's been acting the last minute or two. Olivia was growing uneasy when it came to Elijah. As if she was trying to figure something out about him)
Huck: (raises his head a bit) "Something on your mind, Liv?"
Quinn: "You look like you're in la la land."
(Olivia purses her fingertips to her lips in confusion)
Olivia: "I just feel like my father is not working entirely by himself. Maybe I'm wrong."
(Huck goes to his computer and types Elijah's name and does some investigating. After a few minutes or so, a small smile appears across his face in satisfaction. He goes back to the conference room where Quinn and Olivia are at)
Quinn: "Did you find anything out?"
Huck: (nods) "Oh, yeah. You might say that."
Olivia: (turns her head slightly) "What?"
Huck: "Yes, Elijah isn't exactly working alone. However, it's not by choice."
Olivia: (confused) "What does that mean?"
Huck: (lowers his head a bit) "You ready for this? He's being blackmailed…by Mellie Grant."
Quinn: (perplexed) "I wonder what she has on him?"
Olivia: "It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out what it is as he has many secrets. Huck, can you look up Mellie and see if you can find out any of her secrets? When I confront the bitch, I'll warn her off."
Huck: (nods) "You got it."
(About a half hour later, Huck uncovered one of Mellie's secrets and that's all Olivia needed for now. Olivia texts Mellie and wanted to meet in the park. Mellie was surprised to hear from Olivia, to say the least. They agreed to meet in the park at the bench)
***About a Half Hour Later***
(Olivia is sitting on the bench when Mellie comes onto the scene)
Olivia: "I was beginning to wonder about you."
Mellie: "I still don't know why you wanted to meet. We don't have anything to say to each other."
Olivia: "That's not true. We have one subject to discuss."
Mellie: "And what's that?"
Olivia: "My father, Elijah Pope."
Mellie: (weird look) "What does he have to do with this or us?"
(Olivia gets off the bench and goes to Mellie, staring at her in the face)
Olivia: "I know that you're blackmailing him. That ends now."
Mellie: "I'm not blackmailing him."
Olivia: (tilts her head) "Oh, no? Everyone has secrets. Obviously, my father has secrets. If you continue to blackmail him, I'll divulge yours."
Mellie: "I don't have any secrets, Olivia. Any secrets I did have were front and center a long time ago."
Olivia: (raises her eyebrows) "Are you sure about that?"
Mellie: (scoffs) "What's that supposed to mean?"
Olivia: (nods) "Okay, I see I need to spell it out. No problem." (clears her throat) "Not very far into Fitz presidency, you were lonely because Fitz wouldn't touch you much or have sex with you as he wasn't attracted to you anymore."
Mellie: (interrupts) "Yeah, because of you."
Olivia: (rolls her eyes) "Anyway, you were longing for comfort. You knew that Andrew Nicholls secretly wanted you. So, what did you do, Mellie? You went to bed with him, letting him have his way with you. After the night of passion, you told him it could never happen again as it would harm your reputation and Fitz' presidency because you cheated on your husband."
Mellie: (spits) "Even though Fitz cheated with you multiple times, as well."
Olivia: (loudly clears her throat) "Anyways, Andrew understood and the subject was never spoken of again." (smirks) "Like I said, Mellie, secrets have a away of coming out if you're not careful."
(Mellie stood there, utterly shocked! How the fuck did Olivia the bitch Pope know about this?! Mellie walks in a circle before facing her enemy)
Mellie: "How did you know?"
Olivia: "The point I'm trying to make is if you bring my father down, I'll bring you down. What's it going to be?"
Mellie: (tilts her head) "I wasn't aware you and your father were close."
Olivia: "When he threatens me, I need to take care of the problem. And you, Mellie? YOU are the problem. I'm confident that once you're dealt with, he'll pull back."
(Mellie's eyes were burning with furry at Olivia! She couldn't believe that once again, Olivia is getting the last word! Ugh! Olivia wins at everything! Mellie shakes her head and speaks)
Mellie: "You win. I'll leave Elijah alone and you leave me alone."
Olivia: (nods & smiles) "I knew that you'd see it my way. Good night, Mellie."
(Olivia walks away)
Mellie: (seething) "You fucking bitch. One day, you'll get what's yours. It may not be tomorrow or next week or next year, but you'll get it."
(scene ends)
