Chapter 8!

Another moment from their 3rd year days so they're 18 again. I didn't have some big plan for what I wanted to show off of these two this time but I did like the scenario that popped into my head. It's just good fun to write petty arguments and competitions between them.

User/Reviewer EndlessChains: Thanks as always for the reviews. I thought it'd be fun to show off some of the things that this Izumi isn't good with, especially alcohol since it would both enhance her personality as well as make her do some out of character stuff.

Disclaimer: I don't own BNHA

Enjoy, more notes at the end!

The Tengu and The Rabbit

*Rumi POV*

"That's a win for me," Rumi cheered, crossing the line barely a moment before Midoriya, "how about you tell me the score now?" the rabbit girl gloated, giving a smug grin over to the winged greenette.

"25-24," the tengu relayed, clicking her tongue in annoyance at the white haired girl's triumph.

"You sound pretty upset," Rumi poked, wanting to fully enjoy beating the other girl in their latest race.

"Of course I find it displeasing," Midoriya noted, still irritated but maintaining her composure which made the rabbit girl raise an eyebrow.

"Less upset than I thought though," Rumi realized, thrown off by the lacking reaction.

"I believe you've misunderstood," Midoriya announced, a side eyed glance drawn over to the white haired girl. "I'm the one with 25 wins," the greenette revealed while Rumi stared in disbelief.

"You've got to be kidding," she stated, still astonished as the wind was taken out of her sails, and the winged girl scoffed.

"Would I miss the opportunity to remind you of where you stand with me?" Midoriya posed back but Rumi was still processing the implications.

"There's no way I was 2 behind," the rabbit girl denied and the tengu waved her off.

"Do you think I'd lie?" Midoriya questioned and Rumi knew that the greenette was being honest.

"We're going again," the white haired girl stated though the winged greenette had already excused herself.

"You've taken up enough of my time already," the green haired tengu said over her shoulder, brushing off her words, but Rumi wasn't having it.

"We're going again," she repeated more forcefully but the winged girl ignored her this time, probably having had enough of her since she'd already lost once today.

Midoriya continued walking away but Rumi wasn't going to let her go that easily, especially not when she was the one behind. The rabbit girl ran up beside her and fell in step with the winged girl who immediately sped up in response, not uttering a word. Annoyed at being ignored and walked in front of, Rumi quickened her pace in response and overtook the other girl's steps who then took the lead again with renewed speed. The pace resumed at a brisk walk, then a jog, next a run, and then finally sprinting and flying respectively as the two refused to let the other get ahead of them.

"Be a good little rabbit and remain behind me where you belong," Midoriya growled, speeding alongside Rumi who glared at her.

"Only in your dreams idiot tengu," she bit back, the duo's efforts only growing.

"Need I remind you who leads in our races?" Midoriya spoke down to her and Rumi rolled her eyes.

"Need I remind you how much of a stuck up ass you are?" the rabbit girl mocked, copying the way the greenette spoke, and the tengu huffed in aggravation.

"Everything about you is unpleasant," Midoriya bristled, her green eyes sparking against her red ones.

"Well everything about you is annoying," the white haired girl retorted, not backing down, and the two continued listing out what they thought of the other.

Rumi wasn't sure how long they had been racing, they were hurling insults the entire time, but eventually the texture of the surface beneath her feet had changed and the rabbit girl refocused on their surroundings. Neither of them stopped but they had somehow arrived at a beach during their arguing and the winged girl smirked beside her.

"You look uncomfortable Usagiyama," Midoriya realized, noticing the sand beneath them, but unbothered by the effects since she was flying, "evidently this is the end of the line for you."

"As if," Rumi barked back immediately, "we're not finished yet," she assured but the tengu simply gave a knowing smile.

"Then let's keep going straight ahead shall we," she proposed and Rumi just gave a confident look back to her.

"Did you even need-SHIT!" the rabbit girl yelled, skidding to a stop while she still found herself ankle deep in the ocean, and Midoriya floated a ways ahead of her.

"So do you admit defeat?" The tengu wondered condescendingly, completely clear of the water thanks to her wings.

Rumi stood there gritting her teeth for a moment before an idea struck her and something clicked for the winged greenette who frowned.

"I swear if you do what you're thinking then I'll end you," the greenette threatened but Rumi was already determined to do it.

"Better dodge then," she advised, crouching a little with a gleam in her eye as she locked on to her target.

"Don't you dare, Usagiyama!" Midoriya shouted but the rabbit girl was already airborne and halfway to her.

The winged girl did take her advice of dodging but Rumi knew that the tengu girl had a habit of avoiding upwards. So with that knowledge, Rumi jumped higher in anticipation and collided directly with Midoriya who yelped in surprise and tried to shake her off as the rabbit girl tangled her limbs around her body. Their struggling around saw them both plummeting into the clear water, the two sputtering as they eventually surfaced in the nearly neck deep waves, and Rumi grinned in satisfaction.

"Still want to talk shit?" the soaked rabbit girl cheekily wondered but Midoriya put a hand on her head with a scowl.

"Shall I drown you, you brute?" the winged girl offered though Rumi just ignored her and took in their surroundings.

"Where are we?" she wondered aloud and the greenette peered about.

"Kikugahama Beach," Midoriya confidently stated, "there's Hagi Castle," she pointed out and Rumi pondered the names for a moment.

"Isn't that a few hours away from school?" the rabbit girl added on curiously.

"It is," the green haired tengu nodded simply.

"So skip or you make yourself useful and fly us back," Rumi suggested somewhat seriously but Midoriya stared at her flatly.

"If you think that I'll carry you back then you're a fool," the winged girl remarked, shooting down the notion instantly.

"Wanna grab a hotel then?" Rumi offered next since they both most certainly wanted to wash off.

"Fine," the tengu agreed with a sigh.

"25-25?" the rabbit girl blurted out, not able to help herself, and she was met with an icy stare.

Apparently she'd pushed her luck because Rumi could only yell protests as she was left in the water while Midoriya flew back home.

Notes and Stuff

I like when Izumi calls Rumi by the name Usagiyama.

They even compete over who walks one step ahead of the other. I just come up little arguments and competitions and then try to apply it to these two when I want to write for them. I mean, I literally did a turtle and the hare except they're both speed demons and one is a tengu.

Kikugahama Beach is like 2-3 hours away from Hiroshima, which is where Rumi and this Izumi are from, by car so they were quite caught up in their racing and retorting before they realized where they ended up.

Anyways, I hope you enjoyed and look forward to more updates from me!
