A/N: Hello dear readers. A couple more chapters for this one and I will be wrapping it up which is normally what my sessxkag stories amount to, forty or so chapters.

Before his sense of sight or any of his hearing returned, Sesshomaru scented Inuyasha and Rin. Willing his body to comply as it rebelled he opened his eyes to see in fact the two standing before the creature that had ensnared Kagome.
Pushing himself up on his hands and knees his hearing came back in time to hear the commotion of the fight. What had happened he hadn't any idea. All he knew was that he had to get to his family.
"Get away from her!" Inuyasha growled as he unleashed an icy blast at the now reawakened Naraku whom had his tendrils snaked under Kagomes skin.
"Don't make me laugh. You are not nearly strong enough to take me on little half-breed." Naraku spoke through Kagomes lips using her voice.
Sucking in a breath it hurt the little boys heart to hear his mothers voice used in such a vile way.
"Come out and fight coward!" Inuyasha snapped.
"Inuyasha." Sesshomaru commanded. Glancing to his father for a moment was all it took to be disarmed. The Tessaiga was grasped from his hands and cocooned away.
Tearing his attention away from his father he flexed his wrist raising his claws to strike when his hand was halted. Looking up he saw his father above him holding his wrist. "I will handle this son."
"Papa." Inuyasha sniffled out.
"It's alright. I am here." Loosening his grip on his son he turned towards Rin. "Take this." Reaching into his kimono he produced a small ornament that was in the shape of a sword. "Use this if you can. Take Inuyasha and run if you cannot."
"Lord Sesshomaru, I will not leave you or Lady Kagome. We're family." Rin managed out. Taking her hand and placing it inside of her palm he squeezed her hand gently.
"Whatever happens know this Rin; you are the reason why we are here now, why we are all together. You and Shippo are what brought Kagome and I closer together, the reasons why we fell in love." Sesshomaru said. "Our love for the two of you created a beautiful life but that will be for nothing if we all die here."
"How do I use this and for what?" Rin questioned searching his eyes.
"I am not certain. If need be, I know that you will figure it out." Pulling Inuyasha towards her he glanced over to see the humans standing side by side watching the exchange. "Go with Miroku and Sango. They will protect both of you."
Reluctantly the two children did as they were told standing by to watch the events unfold. Turning back towards Naraku and his vile manipulation of his wife he narrowed his eyes.
"How touching." Naraku expressed coldly.
"Now I understand why you wanted Kagome so badly. You sought out a means to use her for her spiritual energy." Sesshomaru stated. "Do you think that I will not strike you down simply because you have corrupted her?"
"Oh, I plan on that fact Sesshomaru." He goaded. Grasping the hilt of his sword he unsheathed Bakusaiga. "Really? I didn't realize you were so cruel, to attack your pregnant wife."
"I know Kagome would rather die by my hand than he violated by you. You will not have her Naraku."
"How very cliche of you Sesshomaru; if I can't have her then no one will? Hm?"
"Enough of this." Sesshomaru ground out swiping his blade quickly through the air creating a poisonous mist that easily sliced through the webbing as well as the mass of tendrils.
"We have just begun." Naraku said. "And you will learn mutt that I am superior to you in every single way. Now that I am in possession of both demonic and spiritual energy I will be unstoppable."
Creating a barrier around himself he easily deflected all attacks that Sesshomaru threw his way. Anxiously the group stood by and watched as he slashed to no avail.
"Master Miroku, isn't there anything you can do?" Rin appealed.
"I am afraid not Rin. My powers are useless against Kagomes, they would simply negate each other out." He replied.
As Sesshomaru raised his arm again he was hit by a blast of pure energy. Shaking off the zap of electricity that threatened to bring him to his knees he swung again in a different direction than before.
"You fool. I had thought you would be a more worthy adversary. Yet here you are swinging that sword around despite the fact that you are getting nowhere." Stopping at the dubious smirk he was suddenly given Naraku narrowed his eyes.
"Have I been?"
"Tessaiga!" Inuyasha yelled out as the sword flew from where it had been released from Sesshomarus onslaught to his open hand.
"Inuyasha! Now!" Sesshomaru shouted.
"Red Tessaiga!" He yelled bringing the barrier breaking technique once again. The blade shimmered blood red as he drew it aiming for the barrier.
"What?!" Naraku managed out as his barrier was shattered.
"Bakusaiga!" Sesshomaru slashed the sword across Kagomes chest watching as Naraku fled her body quickly returning to his shadowy form. Catching Kagome in his free arm he lowered her to the ground.
"Miroku, Sango!" Kikyo ordered.
"Hiraikotsu!" Sango swung her heavy weapon with Mirokus sutras on it through the figure hearing it make contact as Naraku let out a defeated yell before there was silence.
The air lightened in the room making it easier to breathe. Glancing around the word came back into full color once again with Inuyasha dropping his Tessaiga to the floor and running to his parents.
Rin followed after seeing Kagomes pale face and lifeless blue eyes as her blood flowed from her chest staining Sesshomaru as he held her to him. Inuyasha settled against his father whimpering as he buried his face against him.
A warmth spread across her hand and up her arm forcing Rin to look at the ornament Sesshomaru had bequeathed her.
"It's pulsating." She said softly staring at the soft blue light it gave off glowing brightly.
"That is the Tensaiga." Kikyo said coming up behind her. "It is the sword of heaven capable of bringing one back from the dead. Only a person who is kind and compassionate may wield the Tessaiga."
Closing her eyes Rin thought back to a time not so long ago when she was alone and frightened. Ripped from her mothers arms and thrown into chains forced to travel for days on foot.
Beaten, starved, and humiliated she had reached the Higurashi compound. Beyond consolation she had been tossed to the breeders whom had deemed her not worthy enough to be bred given her half-breed status.
For that she had been molested, raped and tossed aside behind the stables unable to move. She had wanted to die, she took comfort in the fact that soon she would be dead.
Instead she had been bundled up in a flimsy blanket and brought to a hut. Sesshomaru had found her and saved her.
Opening her eyes she looked to Kagome who had been her friend before becoming her mother.
Kagome who had stood up for her and sat beside her wiping the blood from her back and the tears from her eyes. The human woman had taken her in as her daughter without a second thought loving her endlessly.
Glancing back down she saw her hand wrapped around a hilt. The Tensaiga was a full katana and she could feel its holy power wash over her in soothing way.
She knew what to do.
"Papa, place her down." Rin said. Looking up at her he saw the energy from the blade swirling around her lifting her hair as it created its own breeze.
Gently lowering Kagome down to the ground he wrapped his arm around Inuyasha and stepped back. Rin hung the sword over Kagomes prone body and gripped it with her other hand for a moment.
"Tensaiga, please." She implored it pouring all of her memories and raw emotion into the blade. Looking down she saw its energy illuminate the area they were in showing what lie behind the thin veil of their own plane.
Small demons from the underworld were cleaving the soul from Kagomes body. "Leave her alone!" Brandishing the blade Rin sliced just above her adoptive mothers body slicing through the minions.
Waiting patiently she watched as Kagomes glazed blue orbs came back into focus.
"Mama." Rin whispered falling beside her on the ground.
"Rin, my sweet girl." Kagome said softly. Inuyasha whipped his head around quickly as Sesshomaru knelt beside her taking her up into his arms.
"Mama, you okay now?" Inuyasha asked timidly.
"Yeah. I'm okay baby." She replied bringing her hand up to his head rubbing at his ears. "Both your sister and I are going to be just fine."
"Kagome." Nuzzling her nose with his Sesshomaru gathered them close to him eternally grateful to be given the chance to.
