[a/n0]A couple criticisms of #240 that I'll take a look at. 1]TheSilverboar said "...establish flat out that Hannah didn't know about the badges...Harry look petty and unlikeable..." Not an invalid POV. Probably some would see it that way. But consider, he saw her wearing one. And not just once. Now he's chained for life to her. Eventually, sure they would have a conversation, under some circumstances. And likely learn she didn't know about the double phrases. How that would go is a separate story. Would he believe her, short of veratiserum? Nor is it without precedent, no matter what people think of Draco. And he had less real reason on that 1st Express trip. 2]Marcus Rowland commented...a bit repetitive...maybe a look at some of the other characters. The basic premise is that Harry does different. That said, I've done a few, particularly, sequels that had minimal or no direct involvement from Harry; or another character starting a different path[like Dark Luna]Lone Traveler & my MPD Harry are arguably different characters. But the main focus will stay on Harry.

[a/n]Considering above, this VashonBeader idea from SoHDD# 11: "I can also see a follow on that Harry didn't talk about but sharp-eyed Rita noticed. The scar, the new one, on Harry's hand caught her eye, and she writes about that next." He's not the primary focus.

Harry Does Different CDXLIIa

Rita's Corollary

Harry Potter is certainly a powerful wizard. By definition, you have to be to compete in the TriWizard Tournament. Never mind win it. Never mind doing so at 14. He also had a few shortcomings. Naïve. Unobservant. Ignorant. This is not to say Stupid, although some of his shortcomings were his fault for not leaning more toward Hermione in education matters.

"By Perenell and Nicolas Flamel!" the exclamation was forced from the Headmaster's lips. A visitor had returned, and even he couldn't be more shocked "Two visits in as many days! Amelia? May I assume this visit isn't about having a meal with your niece?"

Given a certain redhead's prior experience, she shot a certain Gryffindor a glare.

"Miss Tonks, kindly secure the suspect." Madam Bones commanded with a certain malicious glee. After a rapid-fire string of spells handily disarmed and secured a now furiously protesting and struggling witch, the DMLE chief smirked and pronounced "Madam Delores Jane Umbridge you are under arrest."

The now-prisoner snarled hatefully and fought the bonds "Have you ANY idea who I am?! I'll have you ALL EXECUTED!"

"Highly improbable, dear Delores." Said Madam Bones with a broadening grin "As I was saying… Madam Delores Jane Umbridge you are charged with use of a dark object, assault and torture. Additional charges may be forthcoming depending on my investigation."

This made Hermione nudge her friend "Harry! You have to show her!"

"Oh no! What's SHE doing here?" Ron rolled his eyes at the latest arrival.

The bespectacled witch merely smiled. She was orbited by an enchanted pen and scroll "Now now, young man, no need to be obnoxious. After all, I'm here to help. So, Amelia, in speaking to Harry during my investigation I noticed our boy hero had a tendency to conceal his right hand. Add to that, the evidence of my rather sensitive nostrils. Harry carries the distinct aura of dittany about him."

"Odd. I don't smell anything." Commented Dean, who was sitting to one side of him.

Rita waved dismissively at the Gryffindor "Worry not about that, boy, reporters have our ways." She gave Hermione a slightly worried glance, but was relieved when she correctly read the look and nod from the girl.

"Mr. Potter, it would greatly enhance my investigation if you would lift your right sleeve and show me the back of your right hand." Amelia's tone was compassionate but brooked no disobedience. Her expression darkened at what she saw "I'm not one to make blind dates, but I strongly suggest a basic law discussion with Susan. Madam Umbridge, you may also be responsible for an inter-magical violation of our treaty with the Goblin Nation. Aurors, take her to a holding cell."

While not very distressed at the prospect of her removal, the Headmaster had to say "Yesterday my Potions Master, today my Defense Against the Dark Arts professor. At this rate, Amelia, before the month ends I won't have anyone to teach."

"I'll bet removing THOSE two teachers has resulted in a net improvement in the education quality of the school, Albus." She countered, drily. Turning her attention to students, in this case a young Gryffindor, requested "Mr. Creevey I believe. Ahh …I notice you have your camera… please accompany myself and Mr. Potter. I need a number of pictures that I shall specify."

Now a teen, the formerly small Gryffindor was now as big as an average Seventh, but he still bubbled with enthusiasm "Yes ma'am!"
