So another story done already, this one went a bit quicker, did you guys like the more serialized like this story or more slice of life like trap Ash?

Before we get into my thoughts, I've had this asked and thought I'd bring it up.

"I want to get into writing, but don't know where to start."

Start simple, both my story's began with bare bones information. If you look at Trap Ash it took me over 100 chapters to introduce a new recurring character that wasn't the mysterious cloaked figure. So work with characters you know, or only a small group to start. After that, come up with a simple story for the chapter. Not everything you write has to be a part of the overarching plot line. Finally, just have fun, write about something you want to write about.

@Yaw6113

Was the Pokémon that wanted Ash, Darkrai?

Of course not, reread Trap Ash part 4 Darkrai is clearly dead, right?

Now with that done let's get into the changes that happened while writing this story.

The Plot

Yes the plot changed in so many ways, it was originally going to be a retelling of the games from an anime style, and until I wrote chapter 2 I had an entire schedule lined out of when each event would happen, that was thrown out the window mostly.

Ash

Ash as a character didn't change much, but originally there were going to be five subtly different parts, each of which he'd be going through a different stage of grief, again I wasn't the biggest fan of that when I started writing and it too was removed rather quickly, you can actually see a few instances of heavy denial on Ash's part in early chapters though.

Rivals

When the story was originally written up, the only rival was going to be Gary, like in the games and anime. Then when I made the story take place a year later, it switched to Gilbert. Then with Megan and Cody, it was just fun adding some other rivals for the sake of having different rivalries. Also I realized too late that both stories end with Ash losing to a trainer with a Charizard, I swear it's not on purpose!

Cassie

So when I first came up with the idea, Cassie was going to be Ash's twin sister, and had the working name of Rachel. She would've been the one to make sure he woke up on time, but he still would've been stuck with Pikachu while she got Bulbasaur. I decided against her name as Rachel as it's very close to Richard. Then I couldn't come up with an actual reason for her to be on a journey without breaking away from what gen one was all about. She was also going to be the one with aura powers, even when I aged her down the first time to seven. Her being dead was the last change and a difficult part to write. Seriously try to write a character that no one can interact with, it's a challenge, there were a few times where I almost said, oh I can just write it off that they didn't interact and just make her alive again.

The next story

So there will be another story, unfortunately it's release will be delayed, over the past few months my mental and physical health have had a decline so on top of taking a break mentally from daily uploads, I'm also getting surgery hopefully in early April and I don't want to start posting only to have to stop until I've recovered enough to have the energy to keep up. In the meantime I'll try to upload to Ren's Revived Logs one to two times a week. I hope you'll all be patient in waiting for the new story as I'm really excited about it. For now I'll leave you with the name and a quick summary

Coordinator Ash

After a startling end of the Silver Conference, Ash and Pikachu are now in Hoenn, looking for a different sort of challenge while also helping a new group of trainers learn what it means to be a Pokémon Master.
