All's Fair
There are many theories out there on how it happened. How Ren Tsuruga was trapped in Kana Kusunoki's web. Some say that she brought the paparazzi with her; called them on her little trip to the powder room to freshen up; made arrangements with the bar's staff; there was even a theory that she conspired with another celebrity. What if… What if it were another that trapped them both?
Of course it bothered him that Kyoko-chan was upset, that it appeared that her heart was broken, but he absolutely knew that there would be someone there to pick up the pieces of his little angel, and put them back together for her. He never had the opportunity to taste those sweet lips, but he did have the glorious chance to spoil her, and that was a gift within itself. He felt like the Henry Higgins to her Eliza Doolittle that night he had that elegant little queen on his arm. Or maybe, more like the Prince Charming to her Cinderella. She was an exquisite diamond that needed very little polishing, and he wanted to be the one to do it.
He really couldn't help himself, after all… they do say all's fair in love and war, and he could not get rid of that tightness in his chest every time he saw them together. His brain felt like a lump of white hot coals whenever her beautiful, sparkling, golden eyes looked at Ren with admiration. It wasn't fair, Ren could have any woman in Japan, he didn't need his princess. It was time to even the playing field, and Kana Kusunoki was more than willing to help. She needed the publicity, and he needed the dirt to throw on his rival for Kyoko-chan's heart.
He warned him, but he didn't listen. So during the time before Ren had left to work on his first international film, his reputation was tied tightly to the washed up cougar, and his little princess avoided his friend as if he had the plague.
Hidehito Kijima had been working very hard for the past few months to clean up his reputation. He made it clear that only one woman had his heart, and would absolutely not put that in jeopardy. So as the number one bachelor, that all women wanted, was tumbling from his lofty position, and losing a good portion of his young female fan-base to the fact that they couldn't compete with an "experienced older woman", Hidehito was preparing to sweep his princess completely off her feet and into his waiting arms.
There are many things that can be learned from this:
1. All's fair in love and war.
2. Keep your friends close and your enemies closer.
3. Never interrupt your enemy when he's making a mistake.
4. If he truly felt anything at all for her, he would not have allowed anything to prevent him from telling her.
5. He was not going to stand back and watch in the shadows while others took their chances. He was not going to give up. Most of all, he was not going to ever let Ren find out that it was him that took that photo and anonymously submitted it to Boost Magazine. Free… of… charge… Via a burner phone he'd bought months ago just in case such an occasion happened along.
