Hermione glared at the minister of magic as he told her the news. Bellatrix had been by her house and had wrecked it. But luckily her parents weren't home at the time and hadn't been back since.
"So, none of you have any idea where they are?" She asked glaring at the group of Aurors behind the minister. She began vibrating with furry as they all seemed to avoid eye contact with her as her hair sparked with magic and furry making it nearly double in volume to what it was when she first started Hogwarts.
"Mia calm down, we'll find them," Draco said as he pulled her to him, she growled into his chest as she clenched his shirt as her tears leaked from frustration. She hated that whenever she got angry or frustrated the first thing her body does is cry; it was horribly inconvenient and made her seem like a child as far as she was concerned.
"The biggest issue right now is bringing down Voldemort," Harry said trying to get this meeting back on track and give Hermione a chance to calm down.
It had been two weeks since Hermione and Draco had woken up. In that time the pair had rarely been apart and while it had been weird for Harry at first, he knew that he would just have to figure out a way to deal with this new normal. But honestly, Draco treated Mia with an amount of tender love and care that he'd never thought the Slytherin was capable of was almost proof enough for him. Add in the fact that he had also taken on the job of reforming the power structure in Slytherin house and Harry couldn't approve. Just yesterday alone he had not only fairly punished a few seventh years for harassing a first year muggleborn Hufflepuff but had somehow gotten all the first years to sit together at the various house tables at dinner. Mixing the house lines in a way that left even the professors confused.
Which had been the final straw on Ron's patience. He'd exploded in the middle of dinner, and Bill Weasley who had been visiting for Gringotts to help McGonagall with the transfer of the wards had instantly shrunk his brother with a stunner. After his friend had been taken to Gringotts for evaluation they had found that his mind had been messed with to horrific degrees, that even more child endangerment charges were being added to the pile at Dumbledore's feet. Ginny had kept him up to date saying that Ron was still in the coma the diverger had placed him in as they tried to work out what where Ron's own memories and feelings on things and what the old goat had mettle with. Chief among them being Ron's near obsession with Hermione, which seemed to grow with each passing year.
"According to what you've said there are still two more Horcrux's to deal with," the minister Scrimgeour said looking over the time line Hermione had provided about what had happened in the dream, the other time line as it was being called, the minister didn't know what to make of it.
But Dumbledore's arrest followed by the allegations against him being proven meant that Madam Bones was taking what Miss. Granger said seriously, and if the Head of the DML, the ICW, and the new Chief warlock, Ted Tonks, were on board who was he to rock the boat. Add in the fact that the ICW had sent a contingent to Britain to oversee the take down of Voldemort and the reformation of the legal system in wizarding Britain, it was enough to keep his mouth shut on the matter.
"Nagini will be with Voldemort, she was kept close to him this entire summer," Draco offered as Hermione whipped away the last of her tears.
"I can get the one out of Harry, but it's going to take some time," Hermione began. "I spoke to Hecate, she said that I could cleanse him but it would have to be in a ritual during the winter solstice. But we can get rid of Voldemort now so he can't hurt anyone else." She paused as she pulled out her notebook, ignoring the shocked looked as she casually mentioned talking to Lady Magic herself.
It had been an interesting meeting; thought she would have rather had a full night's sleep. But Hecate had appeared to her while she had slept and gave her a lecture not only on the best sources to find about fable magic, but also on her family legacy and how to best deal with and cleanse Harry of the Horcrux in his head.
"I've already bound the soul fragment, so it can't influence or harm Harry anymore," she turned to her brother before speaking. "By the way that's why you were having those weird dreams in case you were wondering," she said finally.
"I'd like to know just how you managed to get the Horcrux's out of Bellatrix's vault," one of the senior Auror's asked glaring at the girl.
"Well as you know Sirius was the last male Black, making him head of the family even if he didn't do anything with the title. In his will, he clearly states that Harry is his only heir and sole benefactor. Two years ago, Harry added me to the Potter accounts as his sister and adopted me in a little ritual I found in the library, not in blood or name but in magic, which also gave me full access and legal rights to anything he did. So, I simply told our account manager that Bellatrix had shamed the Black family and I cast her out, then seized her trust vault so I could make restitution to the families she hurt. After that I simply asked Dobby to retrieve an item from a vault, he is verified to enter and retrieve items from," she said shrugging.
"Harry put you on his account?" A witch in the back of the room asked almost shocked at the fact. As several others in the room seemed just on edge to hear the answer to the question that was asked.
"No," she replied smugly, "he put me in charge,"
"Why the hell would he do that?!" The same senior Auror hissed and Amelia glared at her subordinate.
"Auror Banks, my I remind you that not only are you glaring at a member of a Noble house you are also glaring at the woman who is a good friend of my Susan!" she hissed as the man flushed with embarrassment.
"I'm rubbish with money," Harry laughed breaking the tension as all eyes turned to him. "Really in two years, I blew nearly a hundred thousand gallons on candy alone. When Hermione found out she was furious and lectured me for nearly a month straight. About financial responsibility, dental health, and all that rubbish. I knew enough about money to know to not let my aunt know about my access to the Potter accounts, but other than that I had no idea what to do or really any interest to learn. I knew Mia knew about finance so I asked her to be my proxy," the black-haired boy offered as he bit back the laugh at Draco's horrified face.
"Other than what he needs for school, Harry has a limit of 100 gallons a semester to spend on whatever he wants. If he wants anything more, he has to have my consent. In two years, I not only made back the money Harry had lost I doubled the Potter accounts," she smiled but it fell in the wake of the glares she faced from most of the wizards who were in the room to represent the ministry and ICW. "Don't look at me like that!" She growled at the accusing eyes at her. "My mother has a dual degree in dentistry and finance, and I learned everything on her knee. I've been managing my own portfolio since I was six. If I choose to, I could retreat to the muggle world and never have to work a day in my life. Hell, even with the exchange rate I could do the same in the wizarding world," she sniffed as the door opened.
"Kings!" Hermione sighed in relief, nearly flying into the Auror's arm. She hugged him just as fiercely as he did her.
"They're safe," he said in her ear as Hermione sagged in relief.
"How did you know to get them out?" She asked nearly shaking the Auror.
"Ever since the battle at the ministry, I knew it wouldn't be long. So, I'd been working on stocking and warding a safe house. About two days after you fell asleep... A little bird told me your parents had become targets. So, I got them out," Kingsley said with a smile.
"Shacklebolt don't tell me you've violated a direct order," the senior Auror hissed as Amelia groaned in annoyance, Hermione figured that the man was about to be demoted if not outright fired.
"On the contrary, I am looking out for my Goddaughter," Shacklebolt said as even Harry snapped his head in confusion.
"Wait, what?" Draco and Harry asked in unison then glared at each other for the act.
"My first day on the job I was sent out to a little house just outside of Muggle London where a Muggleborn had their first bout of accidental magic. Her parents were shocked at first at the thought that their daughter was a witch and asked if there were any books on the subject. We obliviated the girl, as protocol demanded, but her parents insisted they be given any and all information they could get. Over the years she had more and more bouts of accidental magic, but the couple refused to work with anyone else. Apparently, the Auror that went out during the second one was a blood purest and had insulted the couple.
So, after that, I flagged their house so I would know whenever the DMLE was sent out. The Director at the time was insulted that I had, to quote him "interfered in matters that didn't concern me," as the Auror who had insulted them was his nephew and ordered me to stay away from the family. But I swear Emma Granger should have been a lawyer. I'd given her a book about our laws and declared right then and there that I was now her daughter's Godparent." He said with a chuckle remembering the shock the Director had as almost immediately Kingsley had sworn his oath as a godparent, sealing it with magic.
"Kings was the one who took me to Diagon Alley for the first time, helped me set up an account at Gringotts, He was there when McGonagall came with my Hogwarts letter and explained his role in my life," Hermione said with a smile as Harry blinked at her like he would when she explained a complex arithmancy problem and he still didn't understand.
"Mia, why didn't you tell me?" Harry asked finally as he wrapped his head around the information.
"You never asked, Ron, assumed I learned about the wizarding world through books, and I guess everyone else did. Professor McGonagall was the only one who knew about him," Hermione shrugged as Harry couldn't even argue the point.
"Be that as it may. Whom did you get this information from? By our estimates, the Grangers missed Bellatrix but a mere hour." Amelia asked as Shacklebolt sighed.
"I'll show you but everyone needs to keep their wands down," the Auror said as Amelia immediately summoned every wand in the room and glared at anyone who dared to try and fight her for it.
Kingsley chuckled letting go of his goddaughter and walked towards the door. He gently coasked whomever was out there to come forward and the slight click of heels filled the room. Which descended into anarchy the moment that Narcissa Malfoy walked into the room. The mother let out a sigh of relief as she looked at her son for the first time since he'd been put to sleep.
"Mother?!" Draco croaked out as he stood and was enveloped by his mother's arms.
"What is the meaning of this?" one Auror asked as the minister growled out at the same time "Are you sure she can be trusted?" while most of the others in the room began talking to each other.
"Everyone shut it!" Amelia shouted as the room quieted.
"It was thanks to Narcissa that I not only got the Grangers out in time but was able to get the evidence to arrest not only that toadie Umbridge but Fudge as well. The fact we even had enough to convict them both despite the fact they had dirt on every member of the Wizgamont is all thanks to her." Kingsley said as everyone still looked shell shocked. "but not only that she has given me names of supporters, marked death eaters, suppliers, and serval planned raids. Along with every safe house and ward sematic she knows about."
"And just how does she know all this?" Amelia asked calmly.
"My mother taught me that unless she is hosting a party a wife is to be seen not heard. I can't tell you how many times the wives are around as our husbands talk about everything from business to what has or will happen in raids and revels," Narcissa huffed. "With the exception of Bella, who is… well for lack of a better word crazy, none of us would ever dream of interrupting, but that doesn't mean we agree," the woman said as she turned to Hermione.
"Miss. Granger, I feel I owe you an apology. I know my son treated you horribly while he was younger, and I cannot even imagine what happened while you both were asleep. But I feel responsible for the sole fact I let my husband try and shape our son into a bigot. Over the last month, I have spent a lot of time with your parents and while I don't agree with everything they have to say, I can say that my view of Muggles and Mud…. Muggleborns was ignorant and ultimately wrong. I do hope that you will help me as I learn more about your world, and I want you to know that there is no one else I could see for my son than you," Narcissa said as she looked over the woman who would most likely be her daughter-in-law. While she projected a facade of being calm and collected, Narcissa was anything but on the inside.
"I accept, on the condition that you help me with a project I intend on implanting," Hermione said as the woman regarded her with curiosity. "Muggleborns are decidedly at a disadvantage with the ministry's current system in place. I intend to create a program the helps to not only change ministry law that unfairly favors purebloods but also educates Muggleborns on the world they are about to enter. I know that many times Muggleborn and Muggle raised witches and wizards offend others simply because they don't know the culture."
"The same could be said about purebloods to muggle culture," Narcissa offered with a slight nod of her head. "But that is an undertaking I could stand behind. But we will need help."
"How about talking to Addy," Ted offered as he smiled at his sister-in-law. "I know she misses you."
"Yes, I believe my sister would have a unique perspective on this," Narcissa spoke quietly as Minister Scrimgeour cleared his throat.
"Yes, now while that's all well and good what are we doing about these bloody death eaters. The ICW has given us two months to clean up this mess and right now they are all hiding behind wards," the minister said firmly as he looked around the room looking for answers from the Aurors.
"Actually, we already have a plan," Draco offered a Cheshire cat-like grin spreading on his face.
"What did you have in mind?" Amelia Bones asked making a mental note to audit the entire department for idiots as she watched the other three Aurors scoff at the heir.
"Well it starts with these," Hermione said as she pulled out a large pile of stickers with swirling runes on them. And Amelia Bones busted out laughing.
