What if it was Humphrey...? This story works on the basis that Richard returned to London at the end of s2 - obviously s3e1 never happened - and Humphrey took over from him. After a few months of being DI, Humphrey attends a fatal tea party...

Richard and Camille have to go undercover at a party as lovers! How will they cope? With lot's of arguing and tension... Furthermore a very good friend of Camille will visit. She's in need of a holiday. Or is there something else behind this visit? Story begins lightly and becomes somewhat darker further along... Of course with lots of Camille and Richard!

He'd become a little attached to the idea of Richard, he supposed. The awkward but brilliant detective, the stiff-upper-lip Englishman with the heart of gold. The box was right there, and Humphrey had always been curious by nature.

This is another of those 2018 stories, my "tin box" year, I suppose you could say. I post it now because, sadly, I don't suppose I can make it any better.

This was also written back in 2018, but it takes place just before series 1 episode 8. What was it that got Richard to agree to do more small talk, particularly in the mornings?

I swear, this was written back in 2018, but it might almost be a follow-up to BlackberryHoney's Aeroplane Noises and the Lesser Antilles, for which I don't quite know whether to apologize or not.
