For those who read this crusty as heck parody all those years ago; it has been a while since the last chapter. Stuff has happened in life and for some time I lost confidence with writing fanfiction. However, I now have found the time to continue this story and face my own inconfidence in this situation; especially as I realized it's only a matter of time before I grow old; so I may as well enjoy writing this stuff while it lasts.
Also, in regards to it being a parody, it's arguably not as relevant as it once was. This story was made mainly for me to poke fun at the version of the Sonic and friends at school setting that existed during the late 2000s up to arguably the mid 2010s. I imagine that newer stories in that type of setting these days are not entirely the same anymore. But oh well, I've got enjoyment from working on this and I can still throw in some intentionally dumb stuff.
Anyways, it's now time for you guys to spend time on this new chapter!
It was a time where many would usually sleep. However, persistent creatures often took this time to go through their usual lives. Even when there was the chance of snow to blanket them. Pedestrians passed by each other; not taking the time to know each other. Some of them intended to celebrate back home the new year that was ticking onto the scene. That ticking belonging to a prominent clocktower that was the location's centerpiece. Even throughout the many decades, the clock kept itself busy. However, the residents of the town did not know that the clocktower also held significance for another reason besides history or for severing as an indication that the previous year will or has been moved on from.
On the roof of the clock tower was a dark colored hedgehog. Taking a quick glimpse would make many think it was Shadow. A more thorough observation would allow one to realize though that this hedgehog had dark violet fur. Another important feature of this hedgehog was that he was wearing glasses to obscure his yellow eyes. A rather familiar pair of eyes. Besides those things, a glass of whine was in one hand. Being a puppet to his own patience, he took a long sip. This could be viewed as the entity threatening to drink away so many lives on this planet.
"Honestly thought this would be a year to celebrate? Ha! It is truly unfortunate that months from now that they'll be sealed inside their own demise!"
Swirling the cup, he let go of it to let gravity take over the rest. As the cup and liquid were weighed down to their final moments, the clock hands made their way to read twelve-o-clock. Now that it was New Years, the tower itself rang out. This was soon enough accompanied by the sound of fireworks. Those that were currently celebrating the arrival of a new year were oblivious to the wine that was accelerating out of its containment. While nearly all the residents were lucky, they would get to celebrate or even abide by their activities for the next couple of months, the same could not be said for those immediately falling from the hedgehog's grasp. As if time itself was startled, the glass shattered, and the wine met its demise on the pavement.
Inside the Crystal Wave dormitory buildings, mobian students were sleeping away. Aside from a very familiar one, Sonic the Hedgehog. Waking up and making a relatively quiet yawn, he took a quick look at Knuckles. Seeing as how the sleeping echidna had no interest in responding to him for the rest of the night, Sonic made a clicking noise with his tongue. It did not take much brain power to realize he was decently dehydrated. Climbing out of his bed and taking care not to accidently trip, he made his way to the door. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary. However, as Sonic pushed on it, there was an unusual amount of resistance. He found it bizarre but gave the door a good shove.
As the door did its best to move out of the way, long lines of fireworks came into view. For a moment, he just stared. That neutral expression though changed to one of annoyance not long afterwards. The blue hedgehog didn't so much as suspect who had set up the whole thing. Rather, he already knew who was responsible.
Downstairs by the lounge area closest to Sonic's living space was not just a large pile of fireworks; one that that led into lines that went through both floors, but also waiting there was Toko himself. He was grinning like a mad mobian. In one hand was a small pack of matches and in the other was a finger twitching in anticipation. Also, his ears just happened to have wooden corks in them.
"Why, thaarrrr all gonna have ears rininging like crazie for the rest of thios month!"
Suddenly, he felt a presence and turned around to see Sonic near the stairs.
"Heh! Like that's going to happen!"
"Wat did ja say?"
"What I'm saying is that I intend to cause this ear busting plan of yours to fizzle out!"
Toko looked at Sonic confused. Before he could fully register the words coming from the hedgehog's mouth, Sonic leapt for the match box. Snagging the match box, he turned around to see that Toko's rising anger levels. Smiling, the world-famous hero poured out the matches and then threw the match box across the room.
"Oh no! I 'accidently' made a mess! I think a janitor would help in this situation!" Sonic said, in a sarcastic tone.
Sonic turned to the door and put one of his hands to his mouth
"Oh, janitor!"
"If rrre calling for that oorrsistance, then then no one can save you! Pumming through is what you'll get!"
Sonic turned back to Toko; still retaining that smile. The mutant mobian put his arms up and curved his fingers; intending to grab or even lash at his opponent. Toko took a few steps towards Sonic, only for Sonic to point towards the direction of the door. Confusion developed on Toko's face once more. Which was soon followed by him slowly turning towards the door. Right next to the door was a familiar hyena janitor standing there with an oversized vacuum head; with the vacuum just outside looking rather huge.
"What are ya doing, a**wipe?!"
Suddenly; the matches, match box, and fireworks were getting sucked in. Sonic ran up the stairs before Toko could process everything occurring. Somehow, the furniture and installations were not getting sucked in. Once Toko had some resemblance of an understanding, he got swept off his feet. The noise being produced by the vacuum and in general the actions of the hedgehog had him shout one thing on his mind.
"I HHHATTTEEEEE TTTTHHHAAT SSSSOOONNNIIICCC HHHEDGEHOOGG!"
Hours passed by since that incident; the sun standing proud. Sonic and Amy were hanging out on another date. At the same exact mall. Amy knew this would potentially be one of the last times during winter break she could go out with Sonic like this. She held onto Sonic's hand, making sure that he could not just run off somewhere else. Ideas were flowing through her head to ensure she got to truly spend that time with her favorite hedgehog. Hanging out with the blue blur as they indulged in food. Visiting stores; even if it was just to look inside. Perhaps even just cuddle with him on the benches.
As the two walked across the first floor, a mobian shrouded by a tan cloak was staring at them from above. His face was obscured, but his intention was clear. Observing as the couple took the escalator to reach one of the nearby food courts. The entity frowned, soon following it up with partial visibility of clenching teeth. The person had waited for the opportunity to enact his plan sooner originally. However, Amy's plan to take Sonic to the food court complicated things just enough to hold off on that earliest possibility. Holding off until he and his goons could enact what they were here for in the first place.
"I'm sorry this mall currently doesn't offer chilidogs. Though, they do still have plenty to try out. Especially since you never really been to this specific food court before," Amy said, walking with Sonic.
Sonic couldn't help but sigh. That was not the reason he had hoped just to do things on his own for the day. Although, that was Sonic in his usual nature. It was not that he hated Amy; just that he had no interest in commitment for the foreseeable future. Amy's consistent persistence of pushing him into that direction brought annoyance to the blue hedgehog. Though it was never enough to change Sonic's mind about protecting Amy. Especially as Sonic himself knew they would go back to their separate ways once Amy had accomplished everything, she wanted to do with him during the daytime.
Sonic and Amy finally arrived to one of the small food lines. However, this left them with a metaphorical weak spot. The same figure was watching them from the same floor; now closer to them. There was no benefit for the plan in doing this. He was merely observing them to build up his own hatred of them. All more the excuse to freeze them along with this mall. The music, the active stores; the ones that remained at least, and the constant noise. Specifically, the noise of footsteps and people talking further helped his desire to make this place come to an end. He allowed for it all to bounce around him. Doing this to make sure he had no doubts going through with this.
While the mobian stood there, an adult human woman with brown hair and blue eyes walked by with a baffled expression.
(What the h**l, dude?)
With the hedgehog pair having gotten their food, they sat down at one of the available tables. Amy's tray had a simple slice of pepperoni pizza with mozzarella sticks; whereas Sonic had a cheeseburger with fries. Both of their drinks were just simply water. Taking a short drink, Amy used the time to quickly imagine the words to start with. Once done, she placed down the water to start a conversation.
"Sssooooo, Sonic? How have been things for you at the boarding school in general?"
Amy had caught Sonic off-guard with the question. Still, he was able to respond in adequate time. A smirk forming on his face.
"Heh! I thought you would ask me for a kiss. Perhaps declare that you are truly a treasure in my eyes." Sonic responded, ending his side of the conversation with a gentle finger point.
"Honestly, Sonic, you don't have to do the later. I already know you are incredibly shy around me! You've been there for me so often!" Amy said, one of her hands sliding closer to the mozzarella sticks.
Sonic's smirk disappeared; now just looking at her as if she had just answered a question incorrectly. The hedgehog placed his hand next to the cheeseburger.
"Sorry, but you're reading me wrong. You're not the only person I've helped or rescued before. I'm not the kind of person who enjoys watching bystanders get harmed or be placed in a situation they can't get out on their own. Even with you wanting to constantly go out on dates with me, that's never prevented me from protecting you from freaks like Eggman." Sonic responded, taking a quick bite from the cheeseburger.
"You keep claiming that to yourself. Yes, you're a great person. It's part of why I love you, Sonic. However, I noticed you're not the kind of person who is honest with himself when it comes to being more than just a hero. Or when it involves someone other than Tails. Even then, I doubt you tell him everything that's on your mind. There likely is a side to you that does want to be with me. Perhaps that side of you may not sound so strong to you for the meantime, but it doesn't change your true feelings for me. Yeah, you may seem like the type of person on the surface who doesn't want to be in a deep relationship. Something tells me, though, that it wouldn't remain that way forever. That you will one day unveil that part of you and feel comfortable going out with me. The way people think can change, Sonic. Yeah, we're both young for now. Much later though, you will likely want to cuddle up with me so much." Amy replied, as Sonic was finishing up the cheeseburger.
A blush formed on Amy as she thought of the cuddling.
"I know this isn't the first-time kissing occurred between us under this mall, but I'd still like you to kiss my face when we get to the cuddling part."
Amy took a few mozzarella sticks and ate into them.
"You're really going to eat right after you said that?" Sonic asked.
"Sorry! I'm just getting hungry. Besides, you were eating away just a moment ago."
Sonic glanced at the remaining mozzarella sticks; his lips lightly pressing together. He looked back at his self-proclaimed girlfriend.
"Mind you give me a half of one of those things?"
It was Amy's turn to smirk.
"Sure; if you give me access to those fries."
The person who had been staring at them for a long while had not budged. He had developed the obsession to see the destruction of the couple. Thoughts of pulverizing them once the opportunity presented itself flowed hard through his brain. Despite not being able to hear the conversation between them, the dude nevertheless maintained focus. Oh, how he salivated at the prospects at the world-famous hero meeting his demise alongside what he saw as a worthless location. However, he had to cut the thoughts short as a male member of mall security approached. Said security was an older guy who was bald at the top, but still had a mixture of gray and black hair on the sides of his head. The color of his eyes being brown.
"Sir, we've been getting complaints about suspicious activity from you."
The perpetrator loudly stomped around to face security. Hands reaching for the work clothing. Before anyone else could respond, the human was thrown onto the lower floor. After that, groaning could be heard from that same person; with the nearby customers stopping to see if he was alright. Loud footsteps rang out; those footsteps belonging to the culprit that was looking for a place to hide until mall security lost interest in searching for him. Despite all of this, none of the attention was ever from Sonic nor Amy.
Back at the boarding school, Shadow laid on the roof of the dorm he was residing at. There currently was not much noise going on, as many of the students were elsewhere. However, one of the most important classmates to him had stayed behind; that being Rouge the Bat. Despite familiar wing flapping, he stayed put.
"You sure seem to have a lot on your mind."
Rouge landed right by one of her comrades. Shadow merely stared at the sky for a while, but then turned his attention to the bat.
"What part of my mind do you need info about?"
"If I had to guess a few things; it would be about the disappearance of the actual principal, the hedgehog that obliterated this institution some time ago, and those emeralds you have been searching for." Rouge answered, emphasizing said answer with her hand movements.
Rouge's words were initially met with inactivity. Luckily enough, Shadow wouldn't take long to get onto his feet to discuss the matter.
"There was something off about Awesome the Hedgehog. My suspicions lead to him working or being created by someone far more powerful. I have no desire to treat those suspicions as being nothing more than an idea. The chaos emeralds will be vital in taking down this unknown leader."
"Do you think Eggman has direct involvement with this?" Rouge asked, her body language showing a slight amount of anxiety.
"Whether or not the doctor is working directly for the leader makes no difference. My other objective is to determine the location the true principal is stored away at." Shadow replied, crossing his arms.
"Alright, fair enough."
Rouge walked towards the closest edge of the roof and sat down. Shadow joined her to further discuss the details of the situation; especially the multiple possibilities of where things could down the line.
"Just know that if you ever ran into any problems during the search or even once we have to deal with the mastermind, I would do everything to help you."
Shadow chose to use no words; only needing to convey the response with a simple head nod.
Much time had passed at the mall. Amy was at the last desired store with her supposed boyfriend. The store was large enough to contain a couple of bookshelves. There was also some physical movie copies and random merchandise, but no one cared about that today.
"This is just a way to spend more time together," Amy said, looking around the place.
"I really hope we don't spend hours tucked next to a bookshelf!" Sonic responded, impatiently tapping with one of his feet.
"Nah! Last time I was in here, there wasn't anything interesting enough to make me stick around for that long! Then again…I usually only spend that much time at one place if I'm shopping for clothes, whenever I need a large amount of groceries, or it's a really important appointment!"
"Don't you usually wear multiple copies of the same style of clothing?"
"Y-yeah…but I do have access to other types of clothes. Besides, you remember what I used to wear when we were both smaller. It even took me a really long time to decide on a new pair!" Amy answered, messing with her skirt.
"Yeah, I remember! The same applies when you found out the location of my recent adventure with those tarot cards of yours!"
"I'm glad you remember."
Amy leaned on Sonic to press a kiss onto his cheek. Just as soon, she got off Sonic and followed up with a giggle.
"Anyways, let's breeze through those books so we don't have to spend any more time here than we need!" Sonic said, moving his finger around at the direction of the books.
"Sonic!"
Amy's complaint was short lived, as the couple made their way to the closest bookshelf toward their right. Right away, they began to pull books off the shelves to look at the covers. Pages quickly being flipped through to give them a brief idea of what the content was like. They spend a long while like this; with Amy making sure that Sonic didn't try to use this time to increase the distance between them. This would go on for a long while until they found something of actual interest. The cover's title and illustration seemed to involve a war satellite capable of controlling the weather. With the main villain seemingly having an appearance not too different from Dr. Eggman.
"Nice to see that plenty of people still don't trust that Egghead!"
Of course, they made a short trip through the pages to give themselves more of an idea of the overall content. Finished with it, they put the book away and look through some more books until another one of interest came into view.
"Dark Nova Academy?" Amy said, pulling out the book.
"I really don't think I would be interested in a school setting while we're currently attending one!" Sonic responded with obvious disinterest, resting a hand on his face.
Unknownst to them, the perpetrator from earlier ago was observing them from a vacant spot from across their location. He knew that the newest opportunity to watch this mall meet its demise was approaching. Not to mention finally getting to provide harm to the two hedgehogs that have caused so much aggravation. For the first time for so long on this day, he now wore a smile. Albeit one that was filled with malice.
If one were to come across this honey badger on this day, nearly anyone would think observing people was his only interest in life.
Being satisfied for now, he walked up to the gate. However, he was unable to push the gate up towards the ceiling of the entrance. He became more violent; trying so hard to get out of the former store. Luckily enough, an orange sea slug mobian with brown eyes wearing a similar tan cloak walked up to him. Holding onto a compatible key. With that key, he unlocked the gate and pushed it up enough for his leader to get out.
"You're welcome."
The blue-eyed honey badger took off his hood and stared at his companion with a large amount of unamusement. His fur being a prominent gray. Still, he nevertheless was no longer trapped and knew that the other two members of his group were not far away.
Back at the store Amy and Sonic were in, they made they way towards an action book. As usual, they took a quick look at and through it. It was about a mobian hedgehog that had to travel another universe to retrieve a chaos emerald. One that was snatched by a foe that wasn't stronger than the hedgehog, but still had her own intentions with it. The foe in question was a female red panda mobian.
Something in the corner of Sonic's eye caught his attention. Sonic turned to see a different person wearing a similar looking tan cloak. He was just standing there at the shelve next to them. Luckily enough, the entity had no interest to turn towards them. Sonic just simply rolled his eyes; he had a feeling that the person was specifically here to attack later. Or at the very least keep tabs on the unofficial couple. Hearing Amy put away the book, he turned towards his friend.
"Alright, we're done here. Let's go find that bench to cuddle," Amy said.
The two made their way out to the entrance of the store. Before Sonic could react, Amy swept him off his feet. Holding the blue hedgehog into her arms.
"We'll make our way to the cuddle bench!"
Sonic could only sigh. He knew that the date was going to be over soon. So, he would do everything to endure the cuddle session. Amy jumped all the way done to the first floor and walked towards a spot she knew likely wouldn't have that many people. That way, not that many eyes would be observing them in the first place. What they didn't know as they were making their way is that a plan involving them would unravel itself soon.
The other mobian who had been in the bookstore was walking towards a place that sold out-of-date objects; including old music playing devices. Music entered his ears; he knew that the last of the four members of the team was residing there. Once inside, he pulled his hood down to reveal himself as a brown Tasmanian devil with green eyes. Eyes now focused at the blue-eyed, purple feathered sacred kingfisher. Said mobian was making small dance moves next to a tape player. For whatever reason, he decided to bring a music tape on this day.
"Marshan! You've just been goofing off here! We need to get that plan rolling! The others are ready!"
The sacred kingfisher brought an end to his dancing and paused the music.
"Hey-a, Linask! I wanted to have some fun until we bring this mall to an end!" Marshan replied, leaning on the table the tape player resided on.
"We're to meet up with Noaka and Mikalin in a few minuets! Get going!" the Tasmanian devil yelled.
"Right. Got it, sir!"
As they made their way out of the stores and towards a bench that gave them a view of the lower floor, they saw the others sitting there.
"How will we go commence with the freezing of this mall?" Linask addressed to Noaka; the leader of the group.
"…sit down. I have provided the details to Mikalin. It's time I do the same with the rest of you."
Back to Sonic and Amy, the pink hedgehog was doing everything to cuddle Sonic; who rested on her lap. That included gentle rubs on his stomach. This was certainly the best part of the date for her. Sonic on the other hand was wondering when it was all going to end. They seemed to be in their own little world for a long while. However, this would come crashing down when they heard screaming.
"That's bizarre. I don't recall this being the type of mall to have an indoor amusement park," Amy said out of confusion.
Sonic stretched his limbs and yawned. He got onto his feet to look for the source. Soon enough, loud cracking followed; mixing itself with the screaming.
"I bet you that he's here for us!" Sonic shouted, getting into a battle-ready pose.
"…who are you referring to?" Amy asked.
"I noticed someone out of place not too long ago!" Sonic answered.
As if on que, ice spread to the rest of the second floor. Heavy damage was inflicted on the stores; with them especially encased behind large walls of ice. Chilling air soon flowed into their location. Just when they thought the first floor would be intact for a long while, the floor itself rapidly turned to ice; heading towards their direction. Barely managing to jump out of the way, they stumbled on their landing. Both heard the noise of someone else landing. They looked to see the gray honey badger; the man tossing aside the cloak. It wouldn't take long for his minions to show up on both sides of the second floor. One of those minions being the person Sonic saw back in the bookstore. They all had discarded their cloaks.
"I am Noaka, the leader of this group. We intend for this mall to permanently close. This mall…is a worthless place. It repents a time of mindless consumption. Especially back when we did not have the means to acquire nearly everything important from our own homes. Let these malls die along with the rest of the businesses and institutions that have lived far longer than needed! Speaking of, you and your girlfriend have been helping to keep this place going. We have no need for people such as yourselves!" Noaka declared.
"She's not my girlfriend!" Sonic yelled.
"Not that would make any difference. Die along with this mall! The Sleet's Blade will put an end to your lives!"
"Well, you're certainly a good example of a try hard! Go ahead and throws yourselves at me!"
"I'll help you, Sonic!" Amy said, pulling out her hammer.
Noaka could only scoff at them for a moment. He had been unamused before, but this gave him an even stronger feeling of that. He raised his hand, ice shooting from it. The two hedgehogs leapt out of the way. Having the same desire to bruise and even freeze them to death, the other members began to shoot ice towards their direction. Sonic and his friend were doing everything to evade their own potential demise. Sonic saw an opening with their leader. As the blue mobian rushed towards Noaka, he formed a large scythe of ice. Stopping in place, Sonic prepared himself to evade the lethal piece of ice and land any potential successful attacks. Noaka made it seem he was about to fully swing the scythe along his body. Sonic jumped as a response to his. However, Noaka faked out the hero by quickly raising the weapon and making a forward's leap. Sonic was caught off guard; the blunt part off the scythe's head smashing into him. Landing on his hands and feet, he got back up.
"Not very useful! Come up with a better attack!"
Noaka slammed the scythe into the icy floor, a wave of large blades rising towards Sonic. Before Sonic could react, Noaka tore the handle off the scythe and threw it in the direction of his primary enemy. Sonic managed to evade the blades, but the broken handle pierced into his stomach. Having an unprepared landing, Sonic face slammed into the floor. Feeling the ice literally begin to encase his stomach, Sonic pullet out the handle. However, as he did this, Noaka forged a new handle that connected to the scythe. Pulling out the sharp part of the weapon, he spun into a ball into the middle of the air; spreading out shards of ice like a fan. Sonic managed to evade impalement with many of the blades, but a few got into his arms and one with his right leg. Groaning in pain and repeating the same action as before; Sonic noticed that more of the ice had spread on his body.
The purple sacred kingfisher's attention turned to Sonic; seeing the leader now actively pursuing him. Smiling, he leapt down to summon monsters made from ice. The monsters had long pair of four leg with razor sharp ends and glowing orange eyes that were attached to a large blunt head.
Marshan's leader now spun the scythe around him, generation large walls of moving ice that threatened to crush the world-famous hero. As Sonic jumped around the walls of ice and finally away from the chaos, he unintentionally placed himself closer to the monsters. Thankfully, though, the monsters had the sudden desire to roar out loud. It was at this point that Sonic realized that someone else hostile joined the fight. He took a quick look to get a view of Marshan.
"I'm willing to have some fun with you! You are that famous hero after all! I get to fight you on your final day!" Marshan proclaimed.
"Isn't that just great?!" Sonic sarcastically said.
All the monsters forged by Marshan ran towards their target. One of them suddenly sprang at a notable distance away from Sonic's left side. The monster turned towards Sonic and raised one of its arms. Shifting its body posture, it gave off the message it was ready to strike him. Knowing that Noaka was not far behind right now, he revved up in ball form and dashed away into the only remaining empty spot where the stores stood still.
Noaka now slid on the ice; scythe raised as it generated snowflakes that had the ability to generate a burning feeling. What came with this burning sensation is the drainage of strength from anyone. Sonic jumped towards him; intending to land on the shoulder opposite of where Noaka was expecting him to collide into. As Naoaka made the incorrect guess with his swing, Sonic landed on one foot and used the remaining one to smash into the honey badger's face. Noaka lost his footing and began to fall; prompting Sonic to get off him before there was the chance of an unpleasant landing and to evade the snowflakes that were now floating towards him.
He wouldn't get the chance to rest, as the monsters ran towards him and with Marshan himself having generated tonfas made from the elemental power he could use. Pain erupted throughout Sonic's body; an indication that the ice on his body was not going away for a long while. Also, the destructive snowflakes were still after him. He jumped up to the higher floor; seeing Amy taking on Linask and Mikalin. However, he knew it was a bad idea to get their attention, so he curled up into a ball and smashed into the head of one of the creatures from above. Just in the nick of time, he ran out of the way of the snowflakes.
Noaka roared in frustration. Sonic was supposed to have already been dead. In his only open hand, he summoned a dagger of ice. Knowing very well what Noaka was up to, Sonic curled back up into a ball and spin dashed towards the honey badger. As Noaka attempted to poke him with the new generated weapon, Sonic spun around him; causing a significant amount of ice to obscure the enemy's vision. Noaka took a guess where Sonic was and in a desperate attempt swung the scythe everywhere. It was all futile, as Sonic jumped out of the funnel of ice and break apart the scythe. Finding this moment appropriate for what he was about to do, Sonic punched Noaka squarely in the noise. He dropped both the broken remains of the scythe and the dagger.
"LEADER!"
The purple sacred kingfisher rocketed towards Sonic and sent him flying with him into one of the walls of ice on the first floor. However, he unknowing placed himself into the range of the snowflakes. Once those things latched on, they began to painfully sap away his strength. The monsters he formed were losing their forms and melting. Despite knowing he no longer had the possibility of winning this, he turned to the person he followed.
"It's funny that your own ability is already leading me to defeat. But *groan* please, let me have some last shred of entertainment with that hedgehog."
"Very well," Noaka said, as he covered his nose.
Marshan rushed into Sonic's view. The blue hedgehog could tell he wouldn't be fighting this minion for very long, but he needed to be careful.
"Yeah, I'm already in a rough shape. I'll still bruise you up for his own sake either way!" Marshan declared.
Sonic leapt through the air and extended one of his feet. Marshan ducked and then smashed his weapons into Sonic's back. After a rough landing, Sonic made the effort to get back up; only for Marshan to trip him up with the tonfas. Spin dashing away, Sonic slowly got back up; pain erupting once more. The bird slid through the ground with the assistance of his tonfas. Flipping on his feet, he slammed the tonfas all over Sonic's body. The mixture of his raw strength and the spinning of his weapons to fake out Sonic was essentially paralyzing Sonic on the spot and preventing from retaliating.
Having payed attention to the entire scene, Noaka knew what to do. He formed new versions of the weapons he used earlier. Making his way to the both, he watched as Marshan lowered himself to swipe at the legs of the disoriented hedgehog. With Sonic having just lost his balance, Marshan smashed his weapons straight into the eyes of the enemy. As Sonic was sent flying onto his back, he could feel ice taking away his ability to see for the meantime. It was not a pleasant affair; ice expanding all throughout his eyes. He no longer had any temporary relief from his condition.
"*pant* I'll leave the rest to you!"
With the sacred kingfisher falling unconscious, Noaka now saw himself as the juror of Sonic's fate. Taking a moment to flash a sickening smile, he sliced into Sonic's stomach. Blood beginning to flow out of the one he hated the most. Sonic yelped in pain. He tried to get up but was just kicked back down. Slice after slice, his situation turned into a metaphorical hell. This would go on for a long while until Noaka finally used an earlier ability to make sure he wouldn't be able to get off the floor. Large blades of ice now stuck up through much of Sonic's body. It was difficult to breath; almost all his body now encased in ice.
"It was about time that boasting of yours came crumbling down!" Noaka said, as he prepared himself to painfully stab into Sonic's lungs and face.
Sonic began to hope that Amy was alright. That she could handle the others on her own and get out of there before she got slaughtered by their leader.
On the upper floor, the orange sea slug was screaming in pain as he clutched his broken leg. He had been badly bruised; having underestimated that girl. The monsters he had summoned had all broken down into pieces of ice. Only one member of the team had any active control of the monsters; a specific monster amongst the last of them being a rather large humanoid creature that had its stomach coming directly out of the floor. Linask was doing all he could to hold off Amy from Mikalin. However, her expertise in acrobatics and the large blunt weapon were proving to be a real hamper. Linask watched as the last few of the four-legged creatures were sent flying far away.
Amy screamed up at the top her lungs; bolting for the only remaining sentient enemy that was still in fighting condition. The large humanoid monster swung its arms up to protect its creator. She was sent hurtling toward the lower floor. However, it made the mistake of sending her towards Noaka's direction; who was repeatability stabbing the blue hedgehog. Thanks to him paying no to mind to his surroundings, Amy crashed into him; rendering him unconscious. Getting up and groaning in pain, she not only saw the leader right next to her; but also, a badly hurt Sonic.
"SONIC!"
With all her strength, she pried him off the floor blades, which recede once he was out of there. Despite blood getting on her, that did not deter her instincts from wanting to tuck Sonic into a place where she could protect him. Hearing loud coughing, she focused directly onto Sonic's face. Not only was there plenty of blood, she could see nearly the entirety of his face being encased; with the ice even curving into the right side of his mouth.
"…Amy."
"Look. I don't care how concerned you are for me this time. What you did for me back on Little Planet means so much to me. I always tried afterwards to help you whenever I could. Let me protect you, Sonic. Even my own hero needs help at times. It's alright that you can't win this on your own. You needed Knuckles's and Tails's assistance to stop Metal at his strongest. So please, have confidence in me."
"You'd have…"
Sonic tried to throw out his remaining words, but just could not do it.
"You'd be surprised what a girl can do when her strongest love is on the line. Besides, with two of his minions out of the way, I don't have to focus on that many people at once. It's okay if you can't admit to your actual feelings about me right now. You just need to have confidence in me right now. I'll do this!"
Amy began to drag him towards a pillar she saw off into the distance. As the scene was unfolding, Linask turned his attention to Mikalin.
"You're in no shape to go after them anymore. Leave this place; I will be the one to snuff out that blue hedgehog!"
"You need me to assist you with that! Having more numbers…"
Mikalin screamed in pain; clutching at his leg once more.
"Stumble or crawl out of this place. I will not let you bother being here any further. Leave this place. Now." Linask replied.
Linask turned back to see Amy hiding Sonic behind the pillar she noticed. As he jumped down to continue the fight with her, Amy went around from the pillar; obviously noticing the Tasmanian devil.
"No way! You're not getting to him!" Amy yelled.
She pulled her hammer back out; prepared to dish more pain. Linask stopped; giving her a piercing glare. A thick piece of fist shape ice surrounded his right arm.
"As long as you stand, you will do everything to prevent me from getting to your boyfriend. Once you are out of the way, my true objective will be quite simple to carry out," Linask said, raising his ice-covered arm into the air.
"Keep that possibility in the realm of your dark dreams! There aren't many in this world that would actually want to see that happen!" Amy responded back.
Amy carefully slid her feet apart, ready to pounce onto him. Linask pulled his arm back for an attack. Springing his arm forward, a large amount of similar shaped ice zipped straight for the pink hedgehog. With full force, Amy knocked the object out of the way.
"Did you forget about my hammer?! In the words of my boyfriend, try harder and actually come up with a useful strategy!"
Linask smashed the floor; pillars similar of size as to what Sonic was hiding behind. As he pointed towards the direction of Amy, each individual pillar began to slide forward to freeze her. As the pillars went into motion, small spheres of ice flaked off. They rolled all over the place. Right before Amy made the decision to dodge the first if the many, some of the spheres prematurely detonated to into big clumps of ice. Amy weaved thorough the curtain of pillars. Once some of spheres were getting close to the intended target, she leapt higher up onto the next floor.
The remaining spheres explode; some of them dangerously close. The new ice formation closest to Sonic had some resemblance to a ramp. How luck seemed to be on his side. Even if he could not see for now, there was a feeling he could use this situation to his advantage.
"Sorry, but that isn't going to make me any more scared! Any more ideas before I smash you up?!" Amy shouted.
Raising his arm up, the fingers of the ice glove elongated. The fingers impaled into multiple areas of the second floor. Powerful sonic barrier breaking could be heard from the snaking fingers. The structure integrity of the entire building began to crack apart.
"Alright, I'll give you that's kinda impressive. Not going to make me any more likely to give him up to you!" Amy said.
She began to run for it; with the sonic boom inducing fingers following her. Causing untold amounts of cracking throughout the building. She knew those sonic booms could knock off her feet and straight into being ensured by icy death. Parts of the second floor began to falter and fall onto the first floor. Ironically, the area that Noaka was still lying unconscious on was right bellow part of the severely affected second floor. Before there was any chance of him waking up, rubble caved straight onto him. Marshan would soon meet the same fate.
Sonic revved up into ball form. Luckily for him, it sounded like that Linask was too preoccupied. Determining that enough speed was built up, he launched forward; soon enough feeling Linask's body come into contact. He quickly gripped onto him; to make sure he went down for the count. As they both were hurtling towards another part of the mall, Linask's ice fingers snapped off. Luckily for him, his real fingers were kept intact. However, that wouldn't change the situation of him slamming into the same escalator that Sonic had used earlier to get to one of the food courts. With a satisfying smash sound, Sonic heard the fiend fall unconscious shortly after that. Once the situation cleared up, Amy went to hold onto Sonic.
"It's alright. I know of some hospitals elsewhere. That way, those fiends can't take advantage of your condition. Once you recover, you need to focus on doing well in school. It may not sound like your thing, but it's still important you make it all the way to the end of this semester."
Finally, Sonic could feel the last of his strength flow away. Despite not being able to close his eyes, he undeniably could no longer hear or even so much as give her a thumbs up for her bravery. Thankfully, there was still time to save him. While Amy was relieved that Sonic was no longer being targeted for now, she could not smile knowing what his condition was like. Once she had a good enough grasp on him, she bolted out of there and towards a city very far away. She intended to keep the information to herself, the hospital staff that would be looking after him, and allies she could trust in general; especially Shadow and Rouge.
What will the first back to school week be like while Sonic is recovering somewhere else? Will the weather itself lead to havoc during this time? What are Amelia or any of the other Mary-Sues or Gary-Stus up to? Find out in the next chapter of Crystal Wave Boarding School!
On a more serious note, that line the evil hedgehog says at the start of the story ironically has nothing to do with a certain virus outbreak or even a recent war. The way the chapter was planned years ago was quite similar to the final product. Including what that guys says about the new year. The only entirely new scene being added is the moment involving Shadow and Rouge. I felt guilty that Rouge has spent quite a bit of focus out of the story. Hopefully I can give her more to do for some of the remaining chapters. The only other change I can say is that the scene of Marshan listening to music inside a store was originally going to happen in the middle of the fight, but couldn't get that to work.
By the way, the red panda OC that is briefly mentioned has nothing to do with Pixar's Turning Red.
One last thing, I will still accept constructive criticism.
