Quinn drives her Lexus up the dirt road that will soon be paved with asphalt.
The blonde smiles warmly as she drives by the construction happening five miles from her home and it fills her with giddy excitement.
When she and Rachel first thought and discussed what they had planned, it was decided that they still wanted that early morning silence of their Eden.
Which is why they chose to have everything that's going into construction, five miles to each plot in distance so that quiet mornings can be felt by everyone.
She pulls up to the house that has been fully completed and is currently being furnished.
Santana's irritated voice could be heard slandering the movers as she instructs them while they struggle with the furniture.
The blonde shakes her head in compassion for the clearly frustrated and annoyed workers.
"-To the left! Watch where you're going-"
"San, I'm pretty sure this isn't their first move."
The brunette whipped around and her eyes shined in mirth. "Yeah, I know but you know me Q, I love pissing people off."
Quinn shakes her head happy that Santana had accepted their offer as did everyone else. She had not been sure that everyone would agree, she had been nervous the day they offered.
FLASHBACK:
Rachel looked across the table at all of her family. Everyone was chattering away as they waited.
Listening to all their laughter and seeing all of their smiling faces made her feel indescribably happy.
The brunette has waited until she was sure everyone who was invited was in attendance.
She looked to Quinn and the blonde nodded as she stood and rushed to gather what they needed before promptly handing each person a large envelope and instructing them not to open it. When she finished she walked up to Rachel's side as the brunette stood up.
"Everyone thanks for joining us again this beautiful Sunday. As you know we only invited you all instead of the usual gang of family.
It's only because we have something important to discuss with you and hopefully by the end of it you'll be just as happy as we felt when we decided to do it."
Quinn took over then. "And know that neither of us will be offended if you decline, we'll understand and respect your decision."
Rachel smiled then spoke. "So with that said after everything all of you have done to help support this family we wanted to give something back to you all. Something that no one can take away from you. Please open all your envelopes."
Everyone began opening the envelopes with excitement that slowly gave way to confusion.
"Um.. not that I don't love a decent picture but what exactly am I looking at?" Santana spoke up first.
"What your looking at is a plot." Rachel answered.
"Come again?"
Quinn chuckled then answered. "It's a plot of land, each and every one of you now has a plot of land on this property."
Gasps and murmuring.
"Wait but I don't understand, why are you giving us a piece of land?" Jade asked respectfully.
Quinn spoke up. "Because after everything Rachel and I realized that a lot of you will head back to Lima and we'd barely get to see you. So since Santana and Britney are already struggling to find a house, Dad still has two years left of probation and Hiram, Leroy and Shelby are sharing a house that lets face it, the mortgage is way too high and so on and so forth. We figured why not give you a piece of our property that's so huge it goes on for miles, we'd like to share it. We'd like to see you every chance we can since we missed out on so many years with you. I mean seriously, we're the only people here and Jade you're struggling to find a place that you and Alison agree on why not just create your dream home?"
"Listen," Rachel began. "We have thought long and hard about this. Most of you already live here and grams we've sat and listened to you constantly say how much you miss the city and we're not telling you to sell the Cassadine mansion but you're the only one still living in it and we'd feel more comfortable having you here with us where you're easi-"
"Sweetheart, you don't have to convince me. I'm already designing my new home in my mind." Grandma Beth said looking over the papers before her.
"Really?!" Quinn asked in excited disbelief.
"Of course! I could do for a change and I've always wanted to live in the city that's had my heart for as long as I can remember! Not to mention I get to be around all the time and that for me is the selling ticket! So yes I accept!"
Quinn squealed and rushed around to her grandmother to give her a hug.
"Well I guess that answers that question for me, mom was my only reason for apprehension so I guess I accept as well." Judy followed and Quinn's happiness was expanding.
"So does this mean I get my own house? Because if yes, then I definitely accept." Shelby asked. "No offence guys." She said to Hiram and Leroy.
"None taken we understand. "Hiram replied. "I mean, no offence but we'd also like our space as well. So yes we accept as well."
"Yes!" Rachel said as she too hugged her parents.
"I'm so honored that you would include me, I also accept." Russell said.
Alison looked to Jade and hesitated it's obvious that they had both been given a plot of land separately. "I know we haven't really discussed it but you've practically been living at my place an-"
"I'd love to move in with you!" Jade squealed as she rushed forward and pulled Alison into a searing kiss.
Quinn was smiling from ear to ear as her eyes flitted across everyone before her zeroing in on Santana and Britney. Britney was rubbing circles on Santana's back in a comforting manner.
"San?" Quinn called just as Santana stood up. Rachel and Quinn along with everyone became worried. The brunette rounded the table and stared at the two with rapidly welling eyes before launching herself into Quinn's arms and crying.
Never in her life did she think she'd own land and it be permanently theirs.
Yes, she and Britney were looking to purchase a home, but they still would have had to pay mortgage.
Which if for some reason they couldn't cover their mortgage they could have their home repossessed by some bank but with land and the property being owned by Rachel and Quinn, she knew she and her family would be permanently okay.
She'd be able to rest easy knowing they're finally fully stable.
Quinn hugged her back just as tight.
"Thank you." Santana whispered.
"Always."
The brunette released the blonde than pulled Rachel into a hug as Britney hugged Quinn.
"I hope you don't mind but we called both you're parents." Rachel said as the two released each other.
"Why?" Santana asked.
"Because we offered them a plot as well and they said the only way they'd move here is if you two agreed."
"Oh my god." Britney said in awe as she had thought about them as soon as everyone was informed, that worry immediately vanished upon the news.
"Yes! Yes we accept!" Britney replied.
Soon there were cheers of celebration. Wine going around. Rachel and Quinn were happy as ever. They also had given Marisol and Miguel a plot. Which they graciously accepted.
END OF FLASHBACK.
Judy smiled in affection as she watched her oldest daughter move around like an excited child at a toy store. Jade was in the middle of one of her favorite pass times, shopping.
She was furniture/unconsciously clothes shopping with a pouting but smitten Alison following her around with many bags on each arm.
When Jade first spilled the beans about she and Alison Judy just gave her a confused look then turned to Russell and said: I thought she knew we know already. I mean, they're not very subtle.
Russell just bellowed in laughter as Jade and Alison stared gob smacked.
Over a year later and here they are shopping for their forever home together and Judy couldn't be happier.
Judy adored Alison and how she doted on her daughter. She watched Alison fumble a bag before righting herself as Jade spotted a cashmere chase and excitedly squealed for Alison to follow and she did so with heart eyes to match.
Judy's eyes then cast to her boyfriend Russell and had an inner chuckle as he too was much like Alison with both arms weighed heavily with bags as she herself shopped for her new home.
A home that she and Russell decided to live in together since things between they have pretty much moved back in to its original state of being.
Helplessly in love and completely committed to their relationship.
Judy is happier than she ever could have imagined, and she had a tiny brunette to thank for walking into that stable all that time ago.
Shelby smiled as she taped another box closed after packing it.
Her home was one of the first to finish since she hadn't wanted anything big or fancy. Just simple and comforting. She made it into more of a town house.
She couldn't believe this was happening. After years of depression over losing her daughter and her stint in prison to the point of not being able to find a job.
Everything had made her life seem like it was decimated to nothing, but now it seemed it was falling into place in every way.
She was offered a job by Quinn at StarCorp in her department, which she happily accepted. So now she makes more money than she knows what to do with.
Her relationship with Rachel has become so tight they literally talk over a dozen times a day. She's moving in to her new home in just two days-
"Hey are you all done with that box. I can load it now if you need?" A voice spoke up behind her.
Did she mention she also found a relationship that has turned her upside down and inside out in ways she never experienced before because for the first time in her life? that she's actually in love and its reciprocated whole heartedly?
Yes, she totally did!
Shelby turned around and her eyes shined as her mouth went dry. Standing there in the doorway was quite possibly the most delicious man she'd ever laid eyes on.
"Actually, if you don't mind I need help with something a little more delicate." Shelby replied in a sultry tone as she undid her blouse.
The man clearly melted to butter as his eyes took her in.
"Yes, ma'am." Officer Schmidt said with a loving smile and hungry eyes to match as he swooped down and captured her lips. Feeling his heart leave his body and surrender itself to Shelby.
He thanks God every day for the woman and though he had been scared to death that Rachel wouldn't approve, in the end he had nothing to worry about.
In fact, it was later revealed that Rachel had been trying to play match maker for months and was squealing in excitement when it finally happened.
To say he's the happiest he's ever been would be putting it lightly.
Now it's just a waiting game of when the right time will be when he can propose and he knows it's a long, long time from now but he'd wait forever if it meant she'd be his permanently.
Because though they've only been together for a few months, he already knows he wants to spend the rest of his life with her.
Rachel sat across from her lawyers as they discussed the next day's events. It was finally coming to an end.
The trial against her former management was almost over and she couldn't wait.
The entire thing just exhausted her. She couldn't wrap her mind around the fact that the entirety of the case even had to go to trial to begin with.
The proof was all there. However, she looks at the silver lining, more things were uncovered, and more former clients spoke up.
Her lawyers are confident with the ruling and so is Sebastian.
He assured her that the ledger was solid, and Rachel is holding on to that fact because if this ruling doesn't turn in her favor, then she knows what hell would go down and she doesn't want to think about the lengths her former management would take against her.
Hiram took in the empty room of his former home with a nostalgic smile.
He could remember all the years he, Leroy, and Shelby had spent crying in anger and despair of watching their daughter from afar but never getting to be in her life.
To think at one point, they almost gave up. They almost resigned themselves to that life. A life with no Rachel.
Thankfully that never came to pass and today was the last day he and Leroy had to move.
Their house being done the week prior; they had chosen a small cottage looking home when designing it and it was finished sooner then they thought.
Now all they had to do when they wanted to see their daughter was drive five miles up from their home and there, she'd be wife and kids in tow.
He couldn't be happier a smile took over his lips as Leroy slid his arms around him from behind kissing him just behind the ear.
"I just loaded the last box. I'm ready when you are."
"I'm ready too. Let's go home.." Hiram said with a sigh of contentment.
"Great, let's get going i need to get out here as soon as possible. I went to let Shelby know we would be heading out and let's just say I can unhear what I desperately did not want or need to hear coming from her room." Leroy said quickly in dismay.
Hiram chuckled. "Oh hush, let her be. This is the first relationship she's had since Zachery when Rachel was in eighth grade and this time Rachel approves."
"I understand but-"
Just as Leroy went to speak muffled moans and some noise of things falling over made its presence known of just what Shelby was doing.
Hiram cleared his throat embarrassedly. "Uh-yeah, let's get out of here. You're right I can't unhear that."
The two immediately scrambled for the door to get away from Shelby and Schmidt as fast they could and headed toward their new home in laughter.
Britney couldn't stop smiling to save her life.
She was currently in Lima packing up the house as Santana refused to let anyone move in her brand-new furniture without her present. Because if anything got damaged, she would know just who she had to rip a new one.
Britney didn't mind, she got to go through all their belongings and choose what they didn't need and she got to spend time with their parents.
She and Santana didn't have to wait too much longer for their parents to join them. In fact, her parents house would be finished in August and Santana's parents will be joining them in September.
Britney couldn't believe this is their life now.
Their kids will be going to the same school as Beth.
They both have amazing jobs.
They get to live in their dream home that she and Santana designed together so a piece of both of them is clear to see and they get to be around family and friends all the time now.
She felt beyond blessed.
Marisol stood before the currently under construction building with eyes shining with disbelieving tears, her husband standing beside her with an arm around her waist.
When she met Quinn she had been drawn to her not because of her baby but because of Quinn herself.
They had become fast friends and she always felt the need to protect her and her daughter.
That's just what she and her husband had been trying to do for the last few years and she likes to believe that they succeeded most of the time.
So when they met the Rachel, Quinn had so many regrets about, she was very excited to meet her.
Then when Rachel came and asked for help they didn't think twice.
Now she's standing in front of the building she and her husband had put all of their money into when they first moved from Puerto Rico to New York and she can't help be overwhelmed.
Overwhelmed because she and her husband knew they couldn't keep up the rent for their business.
It was getting too high and what they were bringing in individually barely kept them afloat.
So watching the building being gutted from the inside out and changed is hitting hard emotionally because she never thought this would happen to them.
That a tiny brunette spitfire would come out of no where and turn their sinking ship of dreams into a sailing ship possibility.
Rachel had purchased the building and put the ownership papers in she and Miguels name as a thank you for all they had done for Quinn and Beth when she couldn't.
She had sat them down and discussed how they had wanted to proceed.
Would they keep it as a coffee shop, or would they prefer a restaurant like they first intended when they had moved to New York.
They went with the restaurant and God bless her Rachel was making it happen.
The grand opening was four months away and just watching it come together was other worldly.
Now add the fact that Rachel set out a plot on her land for the people who had step in as surrogate parents and grandparents to Quinn and Beth, had Marisol and Miguel weeping in astonishment and the rollercoaster ride of emotions still hasn't let up all these months later.
Even though they were due to move into their new home in as little as two weeks still didn't feel like real life. They're beyond grateful.
Rachel entered the house as quietly as she could.
It was passed midnight and she had stood at work longer than she had anticipated but she lost track of time and she had to cover the workload for tomorrow.
Because it was the last day of trial and though she knew she could have given the work to someone else to take care of. She couldn't because she wasn't that kind of person.
"Do you have any idea what time it is?"
"Ahh-"
Rachel slapped a hand over her own mouth to stifle her scream as the living room light flickered on and there stood her fiancé with her arms crossed, raised brown, and a no-nonsense look in her eyes.
"Quinn-love, what are you doing up thi-"
"Rachel."
Rachel gulped.
When Quinn used her mommy tone then she knew she was in for it.
Quinn has been on her about leaving work when she's supposed to no later.
Especially, since Dr. Murphy clearly told her and Quinn that she needs to reduce her hours at work, or she'd be the victim of hypertention.
Not to mention, he didn't recommend her driving around at night by herself since she's still under observation for the memory episodes since they have been more pronounced lately.
Ever since then, Quinn has been on her like a lion preying on a blissfully unaware gazelle.
"Hey you.." Rachel began, trying but failing to distract the obviously not happy lioness staring her down.
"Don't."
"Quinn, I swear I just lost track of time but I-"
"Rachel you promised!" Quinn said in disappointment.
Rachel felt her heart begin to crumble by the look on Quinn's face. It was clear she was beyond worried and definitely pissed.
"Quinn I'm sorry-"
"You didn't even call and warn me! You didn't answer any of my calls! I've been sitting here all night with the kids, and I can't go driving into Manhattan to find you when our kids are sleeping. Did you not consider how I would feel?! Dr. Murphy may have cleared you to go back to work, but you are under strict orders to not stay passed five. You are to call every three hours to check in with me about how you're feeling and-"
"I know Quinn!"
"Do you?! Do you actually?! Because from what I can tell you don't-"
"I'm not a baby Quinn! For the love of-stop coddling me!"
"No one is coddling you!"
"Yes, you are! Rachel make sure you don't forget this! Make sure you don't forget that! Rachel I'll be expecting a phone call from you at this time, don't be late! I don't need anyone controlling my life or acting like I'm invalid because guess what? I've already dealt with that for over six years and I'm not keen on doing it again!"
"So, loving you is me coddling you? Being reliable, caring, and worried all the damn time about you is controlling?"
"I didn't say that!"
"You didn't have to!"
"You're being ridiculous!"
"Am I?! Because guess what Rachel? This is apart of marriage! Those things you just described are not only what I have to do as you're partner because your health and well-being are now just as much a part of my life as is everything else about you! But Because I actually give a damn about what happens to you! Because I love you! The fact that you view it as anything other than that is not only disappointing to hear but obviously means you don't understand me or where I'm coming from when I constantly and tirelessly chase after to you make sure that the woman that I love and plan to spend the rest of my life with is safe and still here with me and our children. God Rachel, do you even care?!"
With that the blonde turned on her heal and stormed away back upstairs toward their bedroom.
Rachel watched her go as the angry wind in her sails died instantly.
She felt like shit and unworthy of the woman that just walked away. She felt her eyes welling with tears. She hadn't meant to explode that way.
She knows Quinn only does all those things because she loves her undeniably but over the course of the trial as Rachel's past with her management team had been brought she felt it bleeding into every inch of her.
How they had manipulated and controlled her. How she had no say over anything. How they would nit-pick at her about every little facet of her life.
Now due to exhaustion and the rising anxiety she has about the trial ending tomorrow she exploded.
She exploded on the wrong person, and she's sorry. Fuck is she sorry.
The brunette wiped her tears, she didn't deserve to cry.
She didn't deserve to feel like anything but shit for reacting that way.
The brunette climbed the stairs and each door at a time she stepped in to kiss her sleeping children goodnight before heading to their bedroom.
She opened the door quietly and their crying as quiet as she could was Quinn.
Rachel walked over to the bed and slipped off her shoes.
She immediately wrapped her arm around Quinn's waist as she felt her tears pour harder as she whimpered: I'm sorry, I'm so, so sorry Love. I didn't mean it. I didn't mean to hurt you.
Quinn shut her eyes as she cried harder, she gripped Rachel's hand that was around her.
Truth be told, Quinn was terrified. Ever since Rachel's first episode it had been progressing.
It seemed manageable at first but Rachel one day drove them in the opposite direction of Asher's daycare because she couldn't remember if it had been a left or right turn.
Quinn has done nothing but drown in worry and fear over the state of Rachel's mental health.
She couldn't escape the constant fear that maybe one day Rachel would forget them.
All of them, like permanent amnesia or something.
It weighed on her day in and day in out, so she works hard to organize Rachel's planner.
She makes sure to text Rachel on the specific times she's schedule to do so to help Rachel remember to even look over her planner.
She makes sure to make voice recordings on Rachel's phone for the places Rachel may think to go but can't fully remember how to get there.
All the memory therapy that Rachel does at home is executed by Quinn.
Quinn is on it every day and everyday is always kept to schedule thanks to her.
Quinn works hard to maintain a balanced life for Rachel and to hear that Rachel feels like she's being coddled hit hard.
Quinn turns in her fiancés arms and her heart constricts at the desperation in Rachel's eyes to believe she's truly repentant.
"I know baby.. I know you're sorry." Quinn said softly as she wiped the brunettes tears.
"Do you forgive me." Rachel whimpered so much like a fearful child.
"Of course I forgive you but baby.. I'm scared. I'm so terrified of losing you."
"You're not going to lose me. I'm right here I'm fine."
Quinn sighed as her tears slipped from her eyes as she gazed deeply into the brunette's eyes.
"You maybe here.." Quinn said as she lightly grasp the brunette arms to indicate her physical form.
"But how can I know you'll always be here?" Quinn whispered her fear as she gently raised her head the two inches it took to kiss the brunettes forehead gently, indicating the brunettes mind and Rachel finally understood.
Quinn was scared of being forgotten. She was scared of being erased from Rachel's mind permanently.
"Oh love, I didn't-I didn't think-"
"No, you didn't. Rachel, I don't only stay on you about this because I'm afraid of losing you but also because I love you beyond anything. If you were ever to forget me, I wouldn't be able to deal with it or move on from that. Because there is no one else. There could never be anyone else even if they tried because for all of my life up until this point and the rest that has yet to come I will always and forever be yours and if you leave me up here-" Quinn said as she lightly tapped the side of the brunette's head. "I will always fight to get you back through here." Quinn pointed to Rachel's heart.
Rachel's tears were free falling because this entire thing with her memory had her terrified too.
Because secretly that was of fear of hers. Forgetting her family, the family she helped to create.
She couldn't bare the thought which is why she feels even more like shit because she does understand the fear.
"I have an idea, I wanted to run it by you. The only reason I haven't is because if I do it, it will make it real. The memory loss, I.. I'm so scared." Rachel whimpered.
Quinn pulled her down to her chest as she cried.
"Shh it's okay baby. No matter what happens I'm never leaving you. You hear me, I promise."
Rachel nodded and lifted her head. "Can I show you?"
"How about you show me tomorrow? Right now, I just want to hold you in my arms because I need to."
"I like that idea better." Rachel said with a sigh and trembling half smile.
It was silent for a few minutes. Just the two of them holding onto each other like a life line.
"I love you, Rachel Berry..."
"I love you more Quinn Fabray.."
