Thank you so much SarahWeasleyWinchester, Leann Nickerson and Blondie 20000 for the feedback and support!

Hey Leanne, actually I know I didn't write a detail chapter but John has already taken out Yellow Eyes. He took him out before he married Gemma. It was when I introduced Colleen and he was thinking how his and his sons lives had all changed since he met Gemma including finding and killing Yellow Eyes.

So a lot of bonding in this chapter and I couldn't resist embarrassing the crap out of Dean *wink*. I hope people like this chapter and as always feedback is always greatly appreciated! Author's Note at the bottom.

Thank you and enjoy,
Val

Chapter 33

Gemma looked up from the kitchen table where she was giving Colleen her breakfast when the back door opened and Dean came in.

"Morning," Dean said as he strolled in and lean down to kiss Gemma on the cheek.

"Good morning."

He stepped over and leaned down and kissed the top of Colleen's head, "Hey Squirt."

"Deanie!" The little girl shouted happily as she looked up to her big brother.

"Are those eggs yummy?" He asked the toddler as he sat down next to her, earning an eager head nod.

"I didn't hear Baby just now," Gemma said as she stood up and pull down the French press and began making a small pot of coffee for her son.

"Yeah, I have Bobby's truck. He had a full load of parts for the garage. It's why I'm here. Was gonna ask Sam if he wouldn't mind coming in with me to help unload the parts."

"I just heard him getting out of the shower." Gemma said as she place a mug of coffee in front of him.

"I'm not in a rush." He said as he reached over and tickled Colleen's neck causing the child to giggle.

"Would you like some breakfast?"

"Nah, I made me and Jo omelets for breakfast."

"Done Mama," Colleen announced before looking at her brother. "Out Deanie," she said as held her arms up.

"Out Deanie what? Gemma said as she picked up her daughter's plate.

"Leessssseeee," the toddler added.

Dean shook his head and laughed, "you're a silly girl." He said as he stood up and unstrapped her from the high chair before placed her on the floor. He watched as she went over to where her new puppy Candy was sleeping in her dog bed.

"Up!" Colleen demanded of the little dog as she bopped her on her snout.

Dean got up and quickly scooped Colleen up, "you do not hit Candy like that, bad girl." He scolded the toddler.

"Orry Deanie," Colleen said, tears brimming at the reprimand.

"Okay," Dean told her as he smiled and kissed her on the forehead. "Now let Candy finish her nap, she's just a little baby and needs lots of sleep. I see poor Coco lying on the floor over there." He said as he nodded towards Colleen's favorite doll laying on the floor in the corner.

"Coco!" Colleen cried as she looked over at her bestest friend.

Dean chuckled as he set his sister on the floor once again and watched as she ran as quickly as her pudgy legs would carry her to the doll.

Gemma smiled as she watched Dean with his sister. "Sammy should be down soon," she told him as he sat down and lifted his coffee cup.

"That's fine," he said before taking a sip of his coffee.

Gemma looked over at her daughter and made sure she was distracted before leaning forward and placing her hand over Dean's. "I don't need the details but…ummm…is Jo okay? A girl's first time can cause some lingering pain and discomfort."

Dean choked on his coffee as his face turned scarlet, "Oh no…no…no…nope…there are just certain things I'm not comfortable discussing with my Mom."

Gemma sighed, "Dean, I'm not trying to embarrass you and yes I'm your Mom but Jo is just as important to me. I just want to make sure she's alright."

Dean closed his eyes as he said, "if I tell you she okay and we took care of everything can we just drop it."

"Yes."

"She's fine….really." He assured her, a blush still tainting his cheeks.

Gemma smiled as she patted Dean's hand. "Good…oh one other thing."

"Oh God," Dean cried as let his head fall forward and smacked it on the table.

"I just wanted to say that even though Jo's on the pill that it's not a hundred percent effective...you should use condoms too."

Dean's head shot up, "what was there a newsletter out that my girlfriend went on the pill?" He said in disbelief.

It was Gemma's turn to roll her eyes, "who do you think took her for the appointment…Bobby…me and Bonnie took her and then we went out for lunch."

Dean swallowed as he looked at his Mom and sighed, "we were careful…really careful."

"Okay…I just know I'm not ready to be a grandmother yet." She told him seriously.

"Yes Ma'am," he said in understanding. They both turned their attention towards the door when they heard Sam running down the stairs and joining them.

"Morning Mom, hey Dean," he said as he went over and gave Colleen a kiss on the top of her head before reaching over and patting Candy.

"Morning Sweetheart," Gemma said as she got up and went over to the oven and pulled out a plate ladle with scrambled eggs, hash browns and bacon that she had warming.

Sam looked up when Gemma placed the plate in front of him. "Thanks Mom," he said as he quickly picked up his fork and began shoveling the food into his mouth.

"Sammy…breath," Dean teased.

"I'm a growing boy," the teen argued.

Dean laughed, "well do you think you can stop growing long enough to go to the garage with me for the day? I have a truck load of parts I need help unloading and stocking the shelves with. There's a hundred bucks in it for you if you want the job."

Sam's head shot up, "a hundred bucks! Will I get lunch too?"

Dean snorted, "well I wouldn't want you to go hungry."

"Okay, finished your breakfast and clean the dishes and then your all Dean's." Gemma said as she sat down.

Sam looked over towards Gemma to try and talk his way out of his morning chore but stopped when his mother raised her eyebrow and instead he murmured, "yes Mom."

Dean reached over and ruffled his brother's hair. "Eat up Kiddo."

Forty five minutes later Dean and Sam were pulling into the garage. "So…Mom give you a hard time this morning?" Sam asked his brother.

"She considers Jo one of her own…so what do you think." Dean said as he climbed out of the truck.

Sam shrugged his shoulders as he opened his door and hopped down. "So did you and Jo…you know?"

Dean reached over and smacked Sam upside the head, "none of your damn business and watch what you say about Jo too."

Sam rubbed his head, "gee…I wasn't looking for gory details or anything."

Dean sighed, "sorry, didn't mean to be a hard ass…just not everything that goes on between me and Jo is up for discussion."

"Okay…sorry too." Sam said.

"Look, let's unload the truck and store the parts… then we can take a break and go across the street to the diner for some pie."

Sam grinned at his brother, "what are we waiting for." He said as he hurried around the back of the truck to begin unloading it.

Gemma lifted Colleen out of her car seat as Jo opened the back door, "hey…what are you guys doing here?"

"Colleen insisted that Candy missed her sister," Gemma told her as she put Colleen down before turning back and reaching into the car to retrieving the puppy.

Jo laughed as she crouched down and opened her arms as Colleen ran over to hug her. "Hey Sweetie," Jo said as she gave the toddler a hug.

Gemma snapped the little pink leash onto Candy's collar before putting the puppy down. "Oh no… I'm not carrying you," Gemma said when the dog looked up at her for a few seconds before she sat down by her feet.

Jo giggle as Gemma looked down at the dog and called out, "Bader is pretty lazy too."

"She just needs to know who the top dog is," Gemma said before she squatted down and looked the dog in the eyes and gave a firm growl that cause the pup ears to twitch before standing up and taking a few tiny steps towards Gemma and licked her chin.

Jo burst out laughing as Gemma hung her head in shame before reaching out and picked Candy up. "Guess Candy didn't get the memo you're the top dog." Jo teased.

"I'm out of practice since I decided to be a stay at home Mom. I used to be able to get the wolves to stand down with that growl." She said as she stood up and the puppy continued to lick her chin.

"I believe you," Jo said as she stood up and held her hand out for Colleen to take. "I just finished making lemonade if you're interested.

"Sounds perfect," the older woman said as she climbed the front porch stairs.

"Come on Colleen, you can be my helper." Jo said as led the little girl inside while Gemma sat down in one of the rocking chairs on the porch.

Soon Jo and Gemma were watching Colleen giggling as the two puppies were yipping and climbing all over her. "We aren't interrupting anything are we?" Gemma asked.

"Nah, I finished balance the second quarter's books and the research Rufus had called me about yesterday." She told her.

"Good…oh I spoke to John. He said him and Bobby ran into a little hiccups but think they'll be back by Friday night."

"That cutting it a little close, the lunar cycle starts Saturday." Jo said.

"Yeah but Dean's home if they don't make it in time."

Jo nodded her, "right." She smiled as she looked down at Colleen. "Hey, since Dean is coming back I was going to make lasagna for supper. Do you want to stay? I can call Dean and tell him to bring Sam back with him."

"Stay here and have your homemade lasagna or go home and have to figure out what to make for dinner. Decisions…decisions," She teased before saying. "Of course we'll stay."

"Let me call Dean to let him know." Jo said as she pulled out her cell phone that her Uncle Bobby had bought her a few months ago.

Jo spread the garlic butter over half loaf of French bread while Gemma worked on a salad to go with the dinner. She smiled when she saw the older woman looked over into the living room where Colleen was hosting a tea party with her old tea set for several of Jo's stuff animals that she wasn't ready to get rid of.

Gemma smiled as she cleared her throat, "look Jo…I just want you to know I'm here if you have any questions."

"Oh…ummm…okay," the younger woman said.

"I'm not going to say anything else. I just want you to know I'm always here for you."

Jo looked up at Gemma and smiled, "I know…thank you."

"Okay," Gemma said returning her smile. "So how did the double date go last night? I asked Sam and got a 'fine' before he went to bed."

Jo snorted in amusement, "it was fun. I miss seeing Camie every day since I switched to the technical school."

"You two should make a point to spend time together, especially over your summer break." Gemma suggested.

"Yeah, that's a good idea." Jo agreed.

"Good. Trust me I know it seems like you kids have all the time in the world before you graduate but it'll be here sooner than you think."

Jo chewed on her lower lip. "Actually I may graduate sooner than Sam and Camie. The tech school has an advance program and I qualified. I'm doing my junior and senior year together."

Gemma stopped tossing the salad. "Oh Jo, do you really think that's a good idea? I mean why the rush?"

Jo shrugged her shoulders, "I'm ready Gem."

The older woman sighed, "and Bobby agreed with this?"

"Only when Dean promised that we would wait until I'm eighteen before we start hunting together."

"I see," Gemma said as she realized Dean had been part of the discussion.

"I asked Dean not to say anything to you and John. I wanted to tell you myself." Jo quickly explained when she saw the hurt in Gemma's eyes.

"I'm sorry Jo," she said as she hugged Jo. "I'm so proud of you. I was just surprised."

"Thanks, my bookkeeping teacher say I could probably teach the course thanks to handling the books for the yard," Jo told her…blushing slightly.

"Oh Jo…that's awesome!" Gemma cried as she grinned at her…realizing she had been so worried about Jo growing up too fast and about her and Dean starting to have sex that she really hadn't talk to Jo about things like school and her friends in longer than she cared to admit.

She smiled when Jo began telling her about all her classes and how she was doing in them…just enjoying actually spending time with the younger woman.

She knew she would never not worry about Jo. She may not be her daughter but Gemma couldn't love her anymore if she were. She laughed softly causing the blonde to look up at her, "Sorry…I just realized I've been so busy convincing John and Bobby you're not a child anymore but I never actually accepted it myself."

Jo smiled, "yeah I know."

Gemma rolled her eyes, "anyone every tell you that you're too damn clever sometimes?"

"Uncle Bobby whenever I go over the books with him," she teased.

"I've missed this," Gemma said as reached out and squeezed her hand.

"Me too," Jo agreed as she gave Gemma sad smile.

Gemma frowned a little at that, "Jo…have you felt that I've been neglecting you?"

Jo sighed, "things are different now…but I never felt like you didn't love me if that's what you're afraid of."

"They're not that different, are they?" She asked.

"They are," Jo said before shaking her head to stop Gemma from interrupting. "I don't think it's a bad thing though."

"You don't?"

"I don't," Jo told her blushing slightly. "Please don't take this wrong but I never needed you to replace my mother Gemma…Sammy and Dean needed a Mom but I didn't. You are so much more than that."

Gemma blinked in surprised at this, "I am?"

Jo smiled, "they all love me…they all have been there for me…to help me cope with what Roy did to me me but none truly know what I went through. You understand in a way they never could…the abuse you survived when you were a child. They way you came through…moved forward. I…oh Gemma you gave me hope that I wouldn't end up like her…like my mother. …you were my inspiration."

"Oh Jo," Gemma cried as she pulled the younger woman into her arms.

Both woman pulled apart when the back door opened and Sam came barging in, "I hope we're going to eat soon…I'm…is everything alright?"

"Sammy, you ever jump out of Baby before I put her in park aga…what's wrong?" Dean said as he followed his brother in and stopping when he saw Jo and Gemma crying.

"Nothing…everything's fine," Gemma reassured them both.

Jo turned towards the brothers and gave them a watery smile as she squeezed Gemma's hand and said, "better than fine."

Sam's eyes widen as he leaned toward Dean and whispered, "are Jo and Mom having a chick flick moment?"

Dean gulped as both women look like they might start crying again and nodded his head. "Come on Sammy…let's go upstairs and wash up and ummm give them some privacy."

Gemma and Jo burst out laughing Dean shushed Sam and told the teen that you never interrupt women when they're bonding.

TBC

A/N: Okay I wanted to move Jo's and Gemma's relationship more from a mother figure to a friend who is helping Jo navigate that awkward stage when you're not a child but you still need guidance.

I also wanted Jo and Gemma to bond regarding the abuse they both suffered as children and that really nobody could ever know what Jo went through like Gemma could.

Okay anyway thank you again for reading!
