a/n – This is it, this is the last chapter. It's pretty short, but hopefully you like it. I'm so thankful to everyone who was so patient over literally the YEARS this took to write. I've gone through a lot, and we've all gone through a lot during this time. I hope that my story helped someone take their mind off this crazy world of ours.
Like I said previously, I'm almost done with a Winter Soldier story and will be posting that hopefully soon, once it's complete. Teaser: It's called "The Asset" and it's a lemony, angsty romance between Bucky and an OC female. I am over the main hump of that story and am working on a wrap for it, and have each of the remaining chapters planned out. I might start releasing that one when I only have 2 or 3 chapters left to write so I can see what you guys think.
The Narcos story is in dev, I don't even have a name for it yet, and I won't give too much of that away, but the first chapter is written. If you're interested in that story, I'd recommend watching Narcos on Netflix (the Colombian one), paying particular attention to the first season plus like 3 or 4 episodes of the second season. LMK who your favorite characters are!
Anyways, I hope you enjoy this last chapter, Din and Ter'a forever!
Chapter 24 - Peace
Din wiped sweat from his forehead with the back of his hand. Breathing hard, he recentered himself with his hands in front of him, gripping the hilt of the Darksaber.
"You're getting it." Ter'a smiled at him as she paced in front of him, looking far less exerted. "You need to relax. You need to focus."
Dropping his hands, the tip of the Darksaber singing the grass for a moment until he caught it and brought the tip up. "How? How am I supposed to relax and focus at the same time?"
"Center yourself."
"I'm not a Jedi, I can't use the Force."
"You don't need the Force to take a deep breath, relax, and focus on what you're doing."
Din straightened up and closed his eyes. He took a deep breath and and breathed it out slowly. Around him, he felt the cool breeze of Naboo. He smelled the water of the lake off to his left. He heard the rustling of the grass around him. With another breath he released the tension in his shoulders, the weight of the blade in his left hand eased. With a third breath he willed himself to relax. With his fourth breath, he opened his eyes. In front of him, he saw his beautiful Jedi. She watched him with cunning eyes and a small smile, seeing his success. With a small tilt of her head, she moved into a ready position and ignited her lightsaber. He moved into his own combat position and after a moment, they lunged.
As their blades crossed and crackled, Din could tell she was being easy on him. They'd only been working at this for a few days. But he'd gotten much better. His specialty was hand to hand combat and rifles. He was proficient enough in melee combat, but it wasn't as natural for him.
Ter'a smiled as their blades crossed and he pushed back against her, using his sheer strength to over power her and grabbed the wrist holding her saber and subdued her. If she hadn't promised him she wouldn't use the Force during their training, he knew she would easily beat him, but she'd been true to her word.
"Now you're getting it," she laughed as he released her wrist for her waist. He pulled her close and pressed a kiss to her forehead, then to her lips, which she eagerly returned.
Din switched off his saber, clipped it to his belt and sat in the grass. Ter'a followed his lead.
Together, they looked out at the water.
They decided to come to Naboo after the events on Navarro and beyond. Ter'a said she wanted a respite, a time to relax and enjoy life. Din couldn't say he disagreed.
While he was eager to get back to work, he was more interested in spending some quality time with Ter'a and the kid, before continuing on the quest to find his kind. He wanted a moment of peace.
"It's beautiful," Ter'a sighed as she fell back into the grass and looked now at the passing clouds.
Din laid back too, but instead of looking at the clouds, he turned to look at Ter'a. He smiled.
"Yes."
She looked over at him and laughed. Rolling over to lay on him, Ter'a stroked Din's cheek, looking lovingly into his eyes. "I love you," she smiled.
Din pushed he her out her face and replied, "I love you, too."
Pulling her close, Din kissed her. After a moment, he pulled back and said, "so you think I'm getting better?"
Ter'a nodded, smiling. "Much! When you remember to focus and relax, you're natural fighting skill and instinct will carry you through."
Din smiled at her. He loved her so much. He pulled her in to hold her close and said, "We've been here for a week, I'm ready to get back to work."
Ter'a smiled against him and nodded. "We have a lot to do. We need to return to Kashyyyk, and we should go to see Luke Skywalker."
Pulling back, Din looked at her. "You told Maz a long time ago that you wouldn't find Skywalker?"
Ter'a smiled. "Not for me. I know my path. My path is here. With you." She shook her head. "No, I mean for him." Ter'a gestured to the water's edge where Grogu waddled, playing in the water and catching bugs.
Din laughed as the kid splashed and giggled along the shore.
"We'll find where he belongs, Din. Together."
"Together," Din repeated, looking up at Ter'a. Then he pulled her into another kiss, and this time they did not break apart. This time they savored each other. They knew that no matter what happened with the kid, or with a job, they had each other. In a day's time the three of them would be on the Razor Crest heading back out into the galaxy for adventure, but today, Din and Ter'a rolled around in the tall grass laughing, touching, kissing, and savoring each other. Basking in their love and shared destiny, Din thought that finally, his clan was complete.
