Back Before Bedtime
Chapter 6
Broken glass littered the ground, lights flickering as sparks rained down upon the scorched tiles. Machines, long cold with fluids dripping down broken containers. Steady footsteps ignored it all, crunching the random parts as they made their way towards the center of the room.
A single man in a suit examined it all, his head covered in a darkened breathing apparatus.
All for One.
"This is my fault." A quivering voice spoke from the back, earning no immediate response from the supervillain. "I should have kept a closer eye on his work, making sure his computers had tighter limits and-"
"But we wouldn't have had our nomu would we?" The taller man interrupted.
"I-it's hard to say." The rotund doctor adjusted his goggles, wiping the sweat from his brow and bushy mustache. "It's possible I could have completed the work if he never showed up. But once I saw his potential I felt the urge to teach him so that he could help on our projects. I underestimated his learning capabilities."
"He was left unsupervised for less than a day correct?"
"Y-yes sir."
The doctor stood as still as possible, hoping to not further provoke the powerful being in front of him. Ever since the incident, All for One had hidden his thoughts on what had transpired. He simply feared that there was an ancient rage that was about to be unleashed after this massive setback.
"I don't believe either of us could have imagined such a possibility. It took months to create the nomu, and then this child created three fully cognitive beings with results far greater than our best efforts. All in one day."
He just nodded, agreeing with everything the super villain said to not upset him.
"Have you managed to discover any evidence of how he did this?"
Clearing his throat, he did his best to voice the upsetting truth in a less displeasing way. "U-unfortunately no. Anything new he made within that time frame is absent, and the rest of our resources here destroyed."
"Hmmm." All for One rose his hand, the room enveloped in a strange light as images began to form. Everything destroyed was reimagined through the quirk to show what the items present were arranged just hours prior to destruction. But, this quirk relied on the matter that was still here. Anything taken from the sight would not show where it was before. "Take note of everything missing and salvage what you can. We can't remain here long otherwise we might be discovered. I will transport you to a new laboratory and furnish it however you require."
The doctor immediately went to work, taking out his phone and recording everything that one of the many quirks All for One was showing him. Just as he was finishing logging the smallest of vials, he decided to try and probe All for One to see where his feelings lay.
"Will your major plans change?"
"If you are questioning Tomura's involvement in the plan, it is more vital than ever."
"And, how delayed do you believe this will-"
"Do not mistake my current actions as apathy doctor." All for One warned, canceling his quirk once the man finished.
"My apologies." He bowed before the towering figure, and dared not say more.
"Our time table unfortunately is limited. We must accelerate our work pace if we are to meet the restrictions. Even with the unexpected opposition Midoriya has brought us despite our hospitality."
A dark portal emerged near them, Kurogiri stepping out and to the side to see his masters through. All for One marched ahead, the cowardly doctor on his heel.
He should never have allowed that quirkless boy to live.
Tsuyu, Ochaco, Momo, Sato, and nearly everyone else had their eyes locked on the screen. The picture of the one girl with black hair and a green dress was displayed, clips of a green streak of light barreling through the obstacle course in an instant underneath.
"Is this allowed?" Ochaco asked her friends. "That can't be allowed right?"
"She's not even a student." Momo numbly stated. "A vigilante on top of that."
"She's a kid ribbit. She saw a chance to play and get an easy win on top of the attention of the world." Tsuyu explained.
"That doesn't mean it's right." Momo argued.
"Of course ribbit." The froggy girl did not try to justify the actions, but rather gave context to them. At least, the best guess she could give for someone who looks after her smaller siblings frequently.
"Hold on." Sato rubbed his head, recovering from his sugar rush and retrieving his full intelligence. "So if UA accepted her as the winner, then is she going to be coming back to compete?"
None of them knew, all they could do was look around to see if she would show up.
"Hello!"
They spun around, seeing the green one and the pink one standing behind them.
"You two!" Sato kneeled down before them immediately. "What are you doing here?"
"Well-" Blossom shot a look towards her sister, who just folded her arms. "-somebody decided to run off on their own and know we have to clean up their mess."
"There's no mess!" Buttercup whined back. "Besides, the Professor said it was ok I fight them!"
"You need to hold back so you don't hurt them." Blossom reminded her sister, who groaned under the nagging.
"Yeah yeah I get that. If I knew you were gonna be whining in my ear the whole time I would have made Bubbles fight."
"You have names now?" Sato asked.
"Oh yeah!" Blossom smiled towards the boy with eagerness. "The Professor named us the day we saved you all!"
"Guess we forgot to tell them." Buttercup then began to notice the stares, a lot of stares.
No way, no fucking way was this happening. This shouldn't even be allowed, so why the hell did they let a CHILD STEAL HIS SPOT?!
"OI!" He screamed out, stomping over towards those brats with his palms popping in anticipation. "You little shi-"
"Bakugo!" Ida arrived, stern and in Bakugo's way. "Even if these are confusing decisions made by the staff of UA I am sure that this would not justify swearing at chi-"
"Oh fuck off four eyes!" Shoving his shoulder to push stick up the ass, private academy, better than thou attitude, Bakugo resumed his war path towards the girls. Unfortunately, the heroine Midnight had already arrived at the scene. "Tch!"
Kicking the dirt, he shoved his palms in his pockets and just glared at the kids. Dammit, this wasn't right at all! Hell if half and half took first place that wouldn't be as bad. This was just insulting! Handing first place to some spoiled brat who just happened to have some powerful quirk.
Before he could go off and stomp around until the next event, he felt a hand placed on his shoulder. "WHAT IS IT NOW RICH BO-"
Though it wasn't the speedster he expected to see, but instead Cementoss.
"Hold that fighting spirit for tournament." The hero warned, giving one last pat before going off to join Midnight.
In all of her years of teaching, being a heroine, and even some exotic activities, Midnight wasn't sure she ever could have braced herself for this. "So, you decided to come back."
"Yep." Buttercup held her fists to her waist. "Your new champion has arrived!"
"You haven't even won!" Blossom interjected.
"Not yet." The raven haired girl said with great confidence.
The heroine sighed, really questioning if the principal had lost his intelligence. "Look, this is really weird circumstances and normally this would never happen. But for some reason you're allowed to participate."
"Ha!" Buttercup pointed in her sister's face, further rubbing it in.
"But-" Midnight began sternly. "-If you want to play along with us, you have to follow the rules. Got it?"
"Yeah yeah don't kill anyone." Brushing off the words, Buttercup was ready to jump right on in.
"There's more rules!" Blossom cut off her sister. "Each event has predetermined boundaries and rules that each participant must obey otherwise they will be disqualified."
"So?"
"So! If you don't follow the rules you'll be kicked out of the competition."
"Hmph." Growing more agitated with Blossom, Buttercup just turned away from her. "I knew that."
"By the way." Midnight looked between the two young girls. "What are your names?"
"I'm Blossom, I'm the responsible one."
"More like the annoying one." Buttercup replied.
"She's Buttercup, the rude one."
"Hey!"
Running a hand over her face, Midnight recalls just why she chose to be the R rated heroine. She just could not get along with small children. Now hormone filled teenagers, that she could work with. "Alright, Buttercup stick around. I'm about to go over the next event."
"Finally!" The girl threw her arms in the air.
"As for you Blossom-" She glanced up towards one of the tunnels, seeing a few of UA's heroes waiting there. "-I think some of our staff want to ask a few questions."
"Um." The redhead looked over, now uncomfortable by the many adults that awaited her. While she loved being helpful and responsible, the Professor was pretty strict on not giving away too much information. The only person here she knew she could talk to, was All Might. But she didn't see him.
Using her enhanced vision, she quickly scanned the building to find the number one hero. Yet the only blond male adults she could see was a guy next to the hobo they saved, and a skeleton man in a suit. The only other task she had, was to find Sato and reach out to him.
"Actually ma'am." Blossom sheepishly began. "While I'm sure you and your fellow heroes want to talk with us, I can't really say anything to anyone but him over there."
As soon as she pointed towards Sato, the boy felt his world freeze up. He tried his best, he was looking for All Might, and as impossible as it seemed he was trying to get into the top three in order to talk to him.
Midnight gave him a quizzical look, before rolling her eyes and giving up on trying to ask why. "Ok, but he's going to be busy for the second event. Can you wait around?"
"Sure thing!" Blossom saluted, before zipping towards an empty section within the stadium. Luckily for Midnight, that was a walled off section reserved for class one A. No one but whoever Nezu sends would be able to chat with her. At least, that's the hope.
Buttercup was glad, no, ecstatic now that she could participate without her sister right next to her to remind Buttercup why her punches could kill, why reading was important, and why violence wasn't the answer.
Violence was a question, and the answer was yes.
"ATTENTION EVERYBODY!" Present Mic screamed over the speakers. "We're about to get started!"
"So shut up and listen to the rules." Eraserhead added.
*CRACK* "Contestants!" Midnight garnered their attention with her whip and throwing her hip to the side. "The rules of the cavalry battle are simple. We'll have teams no more than five with one person being the designated rider. You can't knock the other riders over otherwise your team is out. If your rider falls to the ground, not caused by a different team, your team is out. The goal is to gather as many points as possible, the rider holding the headbands for your team. The rider must wear the headband somewhere visible on their body. Each headband has a different score depending on how high they placed in the obstacle course."
"Ugh." Buttercup grumbled to herself. She was ready for actions, not more rules listed over and over.
"But, we needed a way to keep things exciting didn't we?"
The floating raven haired girl had no idea why Midnight licked her lips like that. Maybe she was thirsty.
"THE FIRST PLACE HEADBAND WILL BE WORTH ONE MILLION POINTS!"
Cool…that made things different how? Seeing everyone's eyes on her, Buttercup just smirked at the attention. Of course they were looking at her, she was awesome and about to win this.
"Find your teams!" Present Mic alerted them. "You've got five minutes!"
Team? She didn't need a team. Buttercup could do this all by herself!...wait, was it a rule she had to be on a team?
*Pew* She zoomed up to Midnight's face, startling the woman. "Hey lady."
"Yes?"
"Do I need to be on a team?"
"Yes."
"Dang it!"
Morebucks had been unusually quiet as she eyed the flying child. Somehow, without any bribery she had managed to get into the UA sports festival. It wasn't against the rules, but she didn't need money in order to break them without consequences. At first the redhead thought that those tales her classmates spat out about three little girls taking on an All Might killer were just because their minds couldn't process the attack.
But, it began to flow through the news, the media, short paced viral videos on a mobile app that kept getting replaced by another that was more trending.
These girls existed, and the only thing they did with money was buy food.
It went against everything Morebucks ever knew. The elite, the ones with influence, the rulers all possessed money or controlled it through some means. Money was power, that was the highest truth she had ever known, her quirk being a testament to that.
Now, here was someone with so much raw power they didn't need money. Hell even All Might had spare cash. Morebucks now more than anything was drawn to this enigma, wanting to know everything she could about the girls.
With her mind made up, Morebucks began making her way towards Buttercup, about to invite her to join the-
"You're from class one A right?" A tired voice asked from behind.
She turned around, seeing some teenage version of her homeroom teacher with his hair dyed purple and not combed at all. Everything about him screamed poverty lifestyle.
"Uh, yeah." Morebucks put her hands to her hips. "Are you saying you don't know who I am?"
He just smirked, and her mind went blank.
As Buttercup floated towards the center of the arena, she looked around to see who the strongest around were. She spied some big hairy guy, but he was wearing glasses so he was probably a nerd. One of the other big guys seemed to be made of rock and had no hair, so maybe he was good.
*PEW* "Hey you!"
"EEP!"
Buttercup watched in shock as the boy ran away. This was supposed to be a hero school, but this guy was a scardy cat!
"Yoo Hoo!" A girl with pink dreadlocks called out to Buttercup, earning the child's attention. "Little number one! I have a proposition for-"
"Don't call me little!" Buttercup yelled, leaving the rude girl to her own devices.
Geez! Was there anybody worth being on a team with?!
"Um, hey." Ochaco came up to Buttercup, giving a small little wave. "Do you want to be on a team?"
"Hmm." Eyeing her up and down, Buttercup was slightly cautious because she didn't pass The Professor's background check. But all of them did pass an individual check, so maybe it was ok. "Do you just want to be on my team because it's an easy win?"
"What?" Ochaco seemed shocked. "No! Everybody is going to be after the million headband to get first place."
"Hm." Buttercup rubbed her chin, nodding at the girl's statement. "Willing to take on everyone for first place, I can respect that. Ok, you're on the team."
"Alright if I join you two?" Sato asked, Ochaco being a little relieved to see a familiar face help her help the little girl.
"I think we got enough people." The gravity defying one looked about. "Unless Tsu or Momo want to join us."
Speaking of Momo. "Might I request to be a part of this team?"
"You can make stuff right?" Buttercup asked. "The Professor said you could make all sorts of stuff with your quirk."
The taller raven head seemed very distrubed for a moment. This mysterious professor person knew about her, and her quirk. Hopefully he wasn't overly upset over the tracker she put in the card.
"Y-yes." She held up her hand, creating a small plastic figure of Buttercup. "My quirk uses the lipids in my body to create anything so long as I know its atomic structure."
"I don't care about the nerd stuff." Buttercup then smiled, grabbing the figure and examining it. "If you can make cool things that's all I care about. *GASP* Can you make a tank?!"
"Depending on the size." Momo thought about it. "But anything too large would be too exhausting."
"So no tank?" Buttercup received a shaking head, disappointing the girl.
"We don't need a tank." Ochaco encouraged the young girl. "We're good enough to win with just us!"
"I like it!" Buttercup cheered, pointing towards Sato. "Now give this guy some sugar!"
"E-eh?" The two teenage girls blushed, Sato staying as straight faced as possible.
"Well come on!" The floating girl nagged. "His quirk needs sugar!"
"O-oh!" Momo perked up in realization. "Of course! Do you have any sugar on you?"
"Yeah." Sato pulled out a couple of packets. "I got permission beforehand, but let's only use it when we need to."
"Thirty seconds!" The warning was given out, the team now looking between one another.
"Who's gonna be on top?" The big lipped boy asked his team.
"I'm the best!" Buttercup sat on his shoulders. "So I'm gonna be on top!"
"I guess that will work." Momo nodded as she thought out a plan. "In that case, Sato can be our muscle in the front while Ochaco and I support from the rear. Buttercup, your task will be to keep-"
"Yeah yeah." Buttercup just tuned her out. "Keep the headband safe, don't kill anyone."
"...Why did you mention the second one?" The boy below her asked.
"What? Isn't that one of the rules?"
The teens, while slightly unnerved by the innocent question couldn't exactly refute that being one of the rules. It wasn't spoken, but killing was a big no no.
"Are we ready then?" The largest one spoke, earning a nod from each of the girls. "Great, since Buttercup pretty much fits on my shoulders already, you two can just put a hand on my arms or something."
"Time! Teams, get your headbands!"
Blossom sat comfortably up in the stands, awaiting for the event to start while keeping an eye on her sister. She had been listening in on their conversation, appreciating the comments from Miss Yaoyorozu and her particular leadership skills. If she wasn't the class president, Blossom would be disappointed.
"Child." A strong deep voice spoke from behind.
She felt the heat before seeing it, turning around to see Buttercup's chosen toy standing there with flames emitting through portions of his costume. That included his face.
"Doesn't lighting your face on fire inhibit some of your vision?" Blossom asked the man.
His eyes became less stern and more curious. "I've never had anyone ask that question before, but the answer is no. In either case, I came here to ask you some questions."
"Ok." Blossom eyed him with weariness, The Professor having warned her of what things she should not say to the camera. But this was a hero right? So she could say some things but not too much.
He didn't sit, just walked up to the railing and gazed over the students assembling into teams. "Who are your parents?"
"Well, The Professor doesn't want anyone to know who he is. So I can't tell you who our Dad is."
"What about a mother?"
"Oh, we don't have one. The Professor made us in a lab."
That threw the hero off, the man staring at the smaller girl and more intrigued as to how they came to be. Now he interpreted this as using a donor egg from an unknown female. Of course, this Professor wouldn't go into detail about how children are made for some five year olds. So asking her about who the mother is or what their quirk was would be pointless.
"What quirk does this Professor have?"
"He doesn't have one."
What?
"Excuse me."
A man stood near the entrance to the stands, his appearance rather frightening at first glance. A large light cloak covered him neck down, two peg legs keeping him balanced. Yet it was the black skull with contrasting white teeth and eyes that put Blossom on edge.
"This seating area is reserved for class one A. You are not permitted to be here."
"Hmph." The fiery man sized up the other hero. "Yet you permit the girl here?"
"I was coming to guide her to a preferable viewing area." The hero remained professional. "While you may be the number two hero and an alumni of this school, that does not make you exempt from the tightened security measures given the recent attack."
"Wasn't I invited to help strengthen those security measures?"
Blossom slowly raised her hand, the hero/teacher taking notice from his experience. "What is it?"
"I don't mean to be a bother, but the second event is about to start. If there's somewhere I'm allowed to sit I'd like to go there immediately so I don't miss anything."
"Of course." The man adopted a softer demeanor compared to his dealings with the flaming hero. "I can guide you there immediately."
"Thank you." Blossom got out from her seat, following the scary hero towards the halls. She gave a wave towards the flame hero as she bid goodbye. "And what was your name Mr?"
Again, the number two hero was thrown into confusion. He worked hard for his image, and even if some didn't see it positively he was still known by all. "I'm Endeavor, the number two hero."
"Well it was nice meeting you!"
Endeavor watched in silence as he stepped out of the seating area. He knew better than to follow. That rat was probably limiting the contact the girl had in order to learn as much as he could while keeping everyone else in the dark. Yet he got enough to start looking into just who had fathered these children. If it was true that he was quirkless, that would narrow down his search immensely. But, finding who the mother might be if she knew it or not was another matter. Those girls had powerful quirks, and no one could have avoided attention with a quirk like that long enough to have children.
Todoroki wasn't sure how to feel with his spot taken by a child. At first he wanted to call out how it shouldn't have been allowed, but they obviously knew that. Three powerful children showing up out of nowhere, the only person alive able to match them was All Might himself. But the public didn't know of their heat vision, and on top of the fact that they could fly must have the aspect of multiple quirks.
Similar to his own.
No wonder why UA was allowing this, they wanted to keep a close eye on them. If there was any chance to learn more about these kids, it was when they showed up on their doorstep.
In any case, he had to win. Prove to his father that his creation would be the best without any part of that scumbag. But, was he willing to beat a child into the ground in order to do it? Would he be as desperate as his own father to achieve the number one spot? Well, if she could take the punches of that All Might killer without a scratch or bruise than he should be fine giving her some competition.
"REAAADY!"
He tightened the headbands on his forehead, eyes dead set on number one.
"SET!"
"Get ready." He alerted the classmates underneath him. Kaminari, the electric blond. Tokoyami, the literal crow head. Finally Ida, the fastest of their class with engines in his calves.
"GO!"
"Now." Todoroki commanded.
"Dark shadow!" Tokoyami called out, a dark figure emerging from his back that mimicked the boy's own appearance.
"On it!" The shadow called out, placing one hand on Todoroki and another on the ground.
Frost filled the air, ice rushing from Todoroki and over the shadow. It hit the ground, a path of frozen particles rushing to create a massive glacier around the number one team. Ida began the charge, Todoroki's team going right for the points.
*ZAAAAP*
Just as expected, steam flushed out of the melting ice as Buttercup lasered it away. It would give them the perfect cover to come in, swipe the headband, and get away. Their feet splashed through the puddles of water, Todoroki an Dark Shadow both reaching out towards the shadow of a child sitting atop the shoulders.
*RIP*
That didn't sound right. Hopefully they wouldn't get docked points for ruining the headband.
"Here you go boss!" Dark shadow dropped something in his hands, Todoroki first recoiling at seeing the head of the girl in his hands. But, it was fabric like a stuffed toy. A fake headband on a fake doll. Yaoyorozu must have made it as soon as he made the glacier around them-
*ping* A piece of metal fell out of the head, and then Todoroki only saw white.
A flashbang went off point blank, blinding his senses alongside his team.
"MY EYES!" Kaminari wailed.
"Dark shadow!" Tokoyami called out to his quirk in fear, only hearing a small whimper on his shoulder. The shadow bird took the hit the hardest, being diminished to no more than the size of a pigeon.
"Stay still!" Todoroki yelled as loud as he could, hoping his teammates heard him over their ringing ears. No time to be nice about it, he couldn't touch the ground directly because of the rules so he froze the students under him in order to erect a dome of five foot thick ice around them, protecting them as they attempted to recover from the blinding attack.
Though that could take the entire second event, leaving them stuck in second place with no hope for first.
"That was awesome!" Buttercup cheered as Sato and the girls ran off with the child.
"You know-" Ochaco began as they were in a light jog. "-I expected a lot more people to be coming after us. But besides Todoroki's team no one else has."
"I believe they're already occupied." Momo pointed out, seeing that several teams from one A were engaged with the other hero course. "Our rival class seemed to be purposely targeting everyone but us."
"I wouldn't pick a fight with us." Sato chuckled, earning a laugh from Buttercup on his shoulders.
"But that's boring." The green dress girl set her eyes on Bakugo, who scowled seeing the boy. "Come on, let's go get some action!"
The teens hesitantly glanced at one another when they saw who exactly the young girl set her eyes on. Bakugo, who was currently brute forcing his was through an air shield by punching it with his bare knuckles. A fierce look was across his face as he pretty much single handedly was fighting another team.
"Are you sure?" Momo questioned Buttercup's judgment. "He is one of the best combatants of our class."
"Not better than me-Hey wait! He's cheating!" Buttercup accused the explosive one as he blew an explosion towards their face, flying through the air.
"I mean, as long as he doesn't touch the ground he's fine." Sato pointed out.
"You mean I can fly?!" Buttercup asked the boy while gripping his face. "And it's not against the rules?!"
"...yes?" Ochaco nervously answered, and she had every right to be worried. As soon as Buttercup heard yes she shot off Sato's shoulders and zoomed over to join the fight. "Hey wait!"
"You shouldn't leave your team!" Momo called out as the three started running over to catch up with Buttercup.
"I never should have said anything." Sato huffed with regret.
Two blond boys overflowing with superiority battled it out, trying to prove which one of them was better.
"Fuck off copy cat!" Bakugo yelled at the other one, Monoma who was using Bakugo's own quirk.
"You overlooked our class the whole year. Now you finally recognize we're a threat to your reputation!"
"Bro." A boy with messy red hair spoke underneath Bakugo. "We got enough headbands. Let's just go!"
"NO!" Bakugo shouted, prepping another explosion as Monoma switched quirks and hardened his skin. "This bitch is gonna regret thinking he's anywhere near my level!"
"Typical one A, so full of yourselves just for handling a few street thugs and-"
*pew* "Alright you two, we can do this the easy way, or the hard way!" Buttercup had zipped up in between the two, momentarily confusing them.
*Gasp* A pink girl with yellow horns smiled towards the small girl. "It's you! Hi! My name's Ashido!"
"Piss off!" Bakugo spat towards Buttercup. "I'm busy right now! I'll kill you after him!"
"Like you even could." Buttercup boasted. "You'd be lucky to even give me a bruise-"
*BOOM*
Without mercy, Bakugo unleashed his rage point blank in Buttercup's face. Black smog filling the air around where she was.
"Holy shit!" One of Bakugo's teammates with strangely shaped elbows shouted. "That was a kid! You just killed a kid!"
"LIKE HELL I DID!" Bakugo screamed in the teen's face. "I'm not that stupid! Unlike unoriginal over here."
*CLAP*
The two teams put their hands to their ears in immediate response to the massive noise. Buttercup having cleared the dirty air around her with a single clap of her hands. "You're a jerk you know that?"
To their astonishment, she didn't have any signs of injury. Just some ash from the initial blast.
"Hello young lady." Monoma extended a hand towards her. "Might I propose an alliance? We both have issues with this barbarian, and I can guarantee if we work together we can beat him surely."
"I don't need help." Buttercup gently pushed the hand away. "I've got dibs on this guy."
Oh but Bakugo's team minus Bakugo himself seemed horrified about what they just saw. Meanwhile, Monoma and his own team was smiling widely.
"I'm stronger than you think." Monoma stood up on the shoulders of the other teens. "You see, I can make anyone's strength my own. Your flight, you speed, imagine how powerful your quirk would be in the hands of someone who trained their whole life to be a hero."
He stared down Bakugo, who seemed to actually be taking the other one seriously now.
"You'll see it here one A! Why our class will be victorious!" Monoma leapt into the air, his fist primed and ready to sock Bakugo in the face.
*plop*
Only to fall face first in the dirt.
"Monoma's team is eliminated!" Midnight announced.
"What was that boy thinking?! He just jumped off!" Present Mic voiced the audience's own question.
"Monoma can duplicate quirks, but it probably has a limit he failed to take into account." Eraserhead dully explained.
"HA!" Bakugo laughed in his face. "What's the matter?! Having some performance issues?! Should have packed some viagra limp dick!"
"Buttercup!" Sato ran up, joined by Momo and Ochaco. "Please don't run off on your own!"
"Pst, Bakugo!" The redhead under him whispered. "You think we can grab those headbands?"
The explosive blond turned his eyes to Monoma, who was currently retreating with his team to the sidelines. "Tape face!" He immediately called out.
"Got em!" His fourth teammate shot out a line of tape from his elbows, inches from reaching the headbands hanging loosely around Monoma's neck.
*Pew*
*Smack* Monoma got hit in the back of the head by the tape, the headbands dangling from Buttercup's hand.
Bakugo kept his focus on the girl, the way she stuck her tongue out at him, the rage bubbling to the surface, the audacity to make him look incompetent. "I'M GONNA GET YOU YA FUCKING LITTLE BRAT!"
"Come get me you chicken!" Buttercup provoked, about to zoom off once again.
"No wait!" Sato held onto Buttercup's leg, then Ochaco grabbed onto him making him weightless with her quirk accidentally, and then Momo grabbed Ochaco's other hand making her weightless.
"WAAAHHH!" All three let out a scream, Buttercup's flight taking them wherever she so pleased.
"Quit running you bobble headed freak!" He blasted off of his teammates, chasing them through the air as he kept using his explosions from his palms. It hurts to keep himself in the air, but he'll be damned if he let that cheeky brat get away from him!
Blossom sipped on the small carton of strawberry milk with a silly straw that was gifted to her. After a few more seconds of enjoying the beverage, she looked over to the fuzzy rodent that was apparently the Principal of the school. "Is this really allowed? I mean, I know it was never specified no flying was permitted but this seems like it's steering away from the original purpose of the cavalry battle."
"An astute observation!" Nezu complimented the young lady. "For normal schools or sporting events, they would be penalized or even disqualified. But, here at UA we do our best to prepare our students for the world of heroics. While there may be some rules to follow, heroes must adapt as they face new challenges. To know how to stay within the bounds of the law while trying to overcome obstacles is the everyday duty of a hero."
Seated within a private viewing booth over the stadium, Blossom sat with the head of UA to watch the sports festival. No one else was present, Nezu using his fuzzy charm to help ease the child's mind. While he would normally supervise over both presidents of HPSC and Detnerat being here, he could leave them to his associates every ten minutes or so.
"May you indulge my curiosity for a moment?" The Principal questioned.
"Sure." *SIIIIIIIIP*
"How did you know to arrive at USJ at exactly the right moment? No one besides those present and the villains themselves were even aware of the attack."
"Um." Blossom tried to think it over, wondering what exactly she could reveal and what she couldn't. This wasn't the media, or a random hero. The Principal of UA was good and wanted to protect his students, but should he know about All for One? "You see, there was this really bad villain in charge of the attack."
"The one who created the Nomu?" Nezu probed.
"No!" Blossom shot up. "The Professor was forced to help make that thing! He's not a villain!"
"Oh my, I am deeply sorry." The Principal did his best to sound genuine. "I was not aware that The Professor was forced to make that creature. Forgive me if I made any hasty conclusions."
*sigh* "It's alright." Blossom floated back down, grabbing her tipped over yet luckily empty milk carton. "It's just, everyone keeps saying bad things about The Professor even though he's trying to stop the villains. That's why we're even alive."
"I can't imagine how hard things might be for you and The Professor. That is a lot of responsibility to carry alone."
"I know right? I mean, The Professor made us so that we would be able to stop the worst of the worst of villains including the nomu."
"He must be very smart." Folding his paws over his lap, he struggled to hide his true thoughts on the matter but still let only a morsel of it out in order to continue to fuel the fire of Blossom's rant.
"He is! He didn't even make us with any quirks!"
"No quirks? That sounds impossible."
"It's true! He doesn't even have a quirk of his own despite being offered one!"
That statement alone from the child was enough to confirm multiple theories The Principal held. Whoever this Professor person was simply put was held hostage by All for One, forced to his their knowledge to create bio weapons, and then turned on All for One by making his own. How exactly he did it Nezu still didn't comprehend, but the why was figured out. Now it was clear why this person held so much caution despite having three powerful servants. If they betrayed All for One, they would be hunted until they were silenced.
If the boogie man himself was returning from death, then they needed an ally who had recent inside information and could help prepare the heroes for stopping this man once and for all.
*PEW* "Missed me!" *PEW*
"RAH!" *BOOM*
For the last seven minutes it had been like this, Buttercup zooming around while Bakugo continued to chase her with as much effort he could summon. Buttercup had the luxury of effortless flight, while Bakugo had to stay off the ground with his explosions otherwise he would be disqualified. The more exhausted he got, the more sweat he made, which let him make more explosions.
"STAY STILL YOU BUG EYED BITCH!"
*BOOM*
"Na na!" *PEW*
There were also the unwilling participants in this one sided battle.
Sato felt his arm burning as he held tightly onto Buttercup and Ochaco. "That's enough! We can leave him alone!"
After another sudden hard turn, Ochaco's face turned green. "I think I'm gonna hurl."
"Buttercup!" Momo pleaded. "If we just go up high enough we can be out of Bakugo's reach!"
"No way!" Buttercup spun around, zipping right past Bakugo right when he thought he cornered her. "I'm not gonna win just by staying in one place, I'm gonna win and show that jerk he's a loser!"
"Why do you need to do that?!" Ochaco then gagged, her stomach flipping on itself as her body was treated as a ragdoll.
"Because he hurt The Professor!" Buttercup shouted back.
"TIMES UP!"
"Huh?" Buttercup came to an abrupt stop, slingshotting everyone that was holding onto her across the dirt. "Aw man, I wanna go again."
Sato grunted as his weightless form crashed against the stadium wall. "Please, not again."
Momo had created an airbag around herself, bouncing against the wall and now trying to wiggle herself free mid air.
While Ochaco….began to float away.
"WAAAaaaaah!" The girl's momentum didn't stop, all of the speed from Buttercup transferred to her. Without gravity to bring her down, she was at the mercy of the sky.
"Hang on!" Buttercup was about to charge up to the girl, but a small cloud of red quickly intercepted her.
Ochaco felt herself being embraced by the soft blur of feathers, keeping her from flying away. Two arms tucked themselves under her, keeping her safe.
Hawks smirked down towards the teenage girl in the casual confidence he always portrayed. "Hey."
"Bleh."
Only for Ochaco to throw up.
Sports Festival part 2! While Buttercup was pretty much a guaranteed win for her team, that didn't mean it was easy for them. There was a lot of interactions I wanted to write in this chapter but for my own sanity's sake I shortened it down to this.
I realized I had yet to do an All for One perspective yet of the aftermath, so I made sure to include it this chapter. Next one I'll be sure to have Shigaraki's.
Ok, next chapter while we definitely will have Buttercup's team, Bakugo's, and Todoroki's for plots sake…what UA students do you want to see on the bracket? I don't want to just do a Buttercup Izuku swap and I want to write more original fights. What fights do you want to see? BTW Morebucks will be on the bracket.
Sorry, but Monoma's team was eliminated so they can't be in it.
Harleking31: I mean, the powerpuff girls are capable of time travel just through sheer speed.
Planar-Walking-Entertainment: To be honest, I think he wouldn't believe it. The last he ever saw of him was just being some quirkless loser who never really acted on his dreams and cried over everything. To hear that in just a year he created children more powerful than himself would take a lot of evidence to convince him.
Legionnas: They may be in contact with UA, but I don't really have plans to have them be enrolled like other students. They're kindergarteners, and Izuku you can imagine would want them to have as much normal as they can get.
Drax Demonix: No plans for Eri at the moment. Maybe when I get through some of these plots I'm writing up. One for All is still in All Might's possession.
AnimeFan13579: I mean, what other option does Izuku have? He knows he personally sabotaged the number one super villain's plans and is being hunted down. While he's cautious, he needs strong and reliable allies fast. Believe me, while this Morebucks isn't as stupid or ignorant as her child like counterpart she still has the same greedy desires.
Guest: It's there all right! Believe it or not in one episode of the classic series they did show a watch version of the hotline.
