Masters of the Sea and Death
Chapter One: Love and Lost.
Atlantis: Many Years Ago.
There was darkness. And then there was a burst of light, and the dragon opened his eyes, looking around at the room he was in. It was very large, and it was covered in what appeared to be blue and obsidian tile, with a massive stone door open before him, and tiny figures standing on some stone balcony, each messing with what appeared to be blue glowing crystals and strange blinking lights. "W-w-where….. am…. I? Who…. am…. I?" The dragon got up on his two front legs unsteadily, almost falling as he looked at the walls, touching one with his front claw and feeling the wetness of it. He looked back at the tiny figures, seeing them murmuring amongst each other as he only could think of one word in his mind. "Dagahra…. What is…. Dagahra?" The dragon then saw a clear pool of water in the room and looked in…. seeing himself…. "What….. am I?"
"Hello Dagahra. I'll be happy to answer that." The dragon, or rather Dagahra as he figured his name was, turned around and saw something beautiful moving towards him from the door. She was a dragon like him, only longer with blue and cream-colored scales and a white mane, and with kind looking eyes that made him feel at ease. "I am Manda, and you are in the Kingdom of Mu, or rather Atlantis if that is easier for you to understand."
"At…. lantis? What…. are you?" Dagahra watched as the other dragon approached him, curling her long body around him, and gently starting to guide him towards the door.
"I am the protector and guardian of this city, and so are you Dagahra. Together you and I will keep Atlantis safe from Lord Buraki and the Garasharp, along with the other protectors of this city, Irys, Barugon, and Zedus." As Dagahra left the room, he gasped as sunlight hit him and fresh air blew through his gills and lungs. Before him lay a beautiful city of blue and obsidian buildings, massive ones with blue light shining through them, and vehicles of all shapes and sizes flying around, and most impressive of all, a center building with a blue pillar of light shooting out of the top which seemed to give the city this blue glow. Dagahra put his claw into one of the cracks, and felt the warm glow….. and the heartbeat of the city.
"It's…. beautiful…. I am…. protector?" Manda smiled at him and nodded, and then quickly beckoned someone off in the distance, watching as several of the little creatures gazed up in awe of both dragons, and bowed down to them. "And these creatures…. We defend?" As he said this, Dagahra saw three shapes take form and then looked down to see a ramp which he moved down gently, along with Manda who flew over Dagahra to greet the others. The first creature Dagahra saw as a quadruped reptile with a long tail and light grey scales and blue eyes, a long horn on the edge of his snout, and several rows of spikes running down his spine, and upper sides as well. Next he saw a reptile standing on his hind legs with an iguana-like head covered from head to toe in red and black scales, and with two golden eyes that helped complement the spikes sticking out from his arms back and long tail. The final creature was something that took Dagahra's breath away, for they were a bipedal creature with hooved feet, long red and silver legs with natural armor on them, a chest with a yellow core and blue orbs that stood on the silver armor and red body, two arms with what appeared to be two blades at the end of them, four tentacles with silver mouths at the end of them coming out of the kaiju's back, two wings that folded up as they landed that also matched with silver back spikes and finally, a strange head that seemed to be covered by a shell, and one singular yellow eye. "Are you… allies?" The three studied him closely, and Dagahra nervously moved back, only for Manda to stop him, and point him towards them. Several more of the tiny creature stood around, and a few flew in with their vehicles, watching as the water dragon looked at his new allies.
"Everyone, this is Dagahra, our newest ally." Manda's voice was soothing, and Dagahra watched as the tall creature approached him first.
"Hello…. I am Irys…. and you've met Manda already I've seen. I can see you are nervous, but rest assured, we won't hurt you." Irys reached his arm out, and Dagahra walked forward, putting his claw in the middle of Irys's hand. "I was like you at first… so nervous… but Manda helped me get my bearings. I am honored to have you as an ally Dagahra." The dragon could feel some warmth going through his body as he saw the orbs and Irys's eye glow, and felt at peace. Then the horned reptile came next, and Irys stepped away, allowing his other ally to talk.
"Well hello there Dagahra, I'm Barugon. You seem like you have a lot of hidden strength, and I could sense your energy from there. I can help you harness it…. although a bit of a warning…. It can get quite chilly with me if you catch my drift…." As Barugon snickered at his joke, and Manda rolled her eyes and Dagahra stood there confused, the other reptile walked up, and sniffed him… licking him with his tongue. Dagahra shook a little as the reptile smiled a bit, and then bent down to his level.
"I am Zedus, the hunter, and protector of Atlantis. I have slain many a Garasharp in my time, and have come to know their scent and taste well. I think it is you most of all who can help us turn the tide against us, for you smell and taste of great power. Perhaps one day you can be Master of the Sea if you so choose Dagahra…." At this Dagahra felt his heart racing as he looked at everyone… and then a warm feeling came in his chest as Manda curled around him, helping him calm down just a bit.
"I see now…. This is what I was meant for? It feels… nice." Dagahra beamed at everyone, and then looked at Manda, seeing her kind smile once again. "When do we start?"
"First things first Dagahra," Manda smiled as she felt the other dragon's enthusiasm, then gave him an affectionate lick on his head. "You're really hungry right now, so we all need to get lunch and then… your training begins. You want to go now?" Dagahra looked at her, tears in his eyes, and nodded yes, and then Manda uncurled from him, flying over him as Irys and her led the way, and the rest of the reptiles followed.
Dagahra felt happy that day…. and thought of what Zedus had told him.
"I could be Master of the Sea…. They need me….."
Iwato Island: Dagahra and Deutalios vs Manda.
To most humans, Iwato Island was the definition of a barren island, seeming to only have a small beach that surrounded a rocky mountain and cliffs, with no vegetation seen anywhere. To kaiju however, it was a place for them to stop and rest as they traversed the ocean for it was right in the middle of a seemingly endless place, and due to having a lake among several cliffs, also a place for Kaiju to get a drink, and possibly feed off of any beached whales who found themselves there. And for Ganimes, it was such a place of refuge right now, especially after the strange city that rose out of the water while he was busy scuttling along the bottom of the sea. He was hiding behind several rocks now, his red eyes looking at the pillar of blue shooting out from said city. The crab kaiju peaked out again when he heard the sound of splashing, and then recoiled when he saw the strange red starfish swarm on the beach, praying his naturally rocky shell would hide him from their peering eyes. His two massive claws also helped hide him, and all the crab could do was listen as he heard footsteps. "Hey boss, why are we stopping?!" Deutalios leaped out of the water, his back legs popping out of his tail as he shook himself off from the water, and then looked back, his lure retracting back into his head. Dagahra came out next, his wings spread out as he flew over to a part of the beach and then landed gently, panting softly. He then gestured over to a cliff, and climbed up it slowly, his claws digging into the rocks as Deutalios scampered up his back and onto the cliff as Dagahra made it to the top.
"We can see the city from here little buddy. Besides, I needed a break, I'm not getting any younger here you know." Dagahra smiled at his own quip, and the two kaiju looked at where the beam was shooting up into the sky. The sky was slightly overcast, and the outline was very faint, but they could see the city right in the distance, a few buildings being in ruins and the center still standing tall. The two stood there, Deutalios smiling gently and Dagahra doing the same as they looked on. "Almost there… almost there…" Then suddenly, the two heard another rumbling noise, and turning around, Dagahra and Deutalios saw the Barem swarm suddenly get frozen solid by a white-blue beam that burst out of the water, followed by something shattering them as it left the water, and a very familiar shape flew around Dagahra, the body and the finned tail curling around as he suddenly realized who it was. "Ah Manda, it's been years…. How've you've been?" Manda was glaring down at Dagahra as she flew in the air, her white mane still appearing to be just as bright as the day he met her. Deutalios growled a little, while Dagahra and Manda stood still, waiting for the other to make a move.
"Dagahra…. I know why you're here….. I know what you are going to do," the sea dragon spoke, her voice dripping with a strange calm, as if she was hoping to handle this peacefully rather than violently. "My brother has awakened… as I have too… because he has returned… and he promised you something didn't he? Please Dagahra…. Don't do this…"
"Don't do this? Don't do this? Oh my," Dagahra almost laughed when he heard her plea, causing Deutalios to look at his master and friend. "Same old Manda… say, wasn't I supposed to be Master of the Sea? The Last Hope of Mankind? That's what they called me…." Dagahra looked away from Manda watching as several Barem crawled out from his shoulder cannons, and across his arms. "Oh, but when I get rid of their waste and trash, and these things come out…. I'm dangerous all of a sudden? After everything I did for them, they decided to get rid of me instead of "fixing" me. Did you even really give a damn about me? What about Irys? Barugon? Zedus? And Deutalios here? You let them get put away, just because they weren't perfect like you, or the real Last Hope of Mankind." Dagahra clenched one of his claws as Deutalios looked back at him and Manda, the other dragon still staring at them. The rat growled as he remembered the human weapons firing at him…. after Dagahra had saved him from the power of the Heart.
"So does that mean you need to punish the rest of humanity and everyone else for what they did to you? I should've done more, convinced them to help you all instead of abandoning you… I admit that Dagahra. I'm sorry….. I failed you…. I failed you all…. but if you go and do this…. then I have no choice but to stop you….." For a few minutes, Dagahra sat there, and Manda looked at him, seeing the innocent kaiju who was barely learning how to walk, and how he had been so happy to see everything.
"…. Then do your damn best!" Manda fired her ice beam out as Dagahra's own purple energy beam came out of his mouth, the two colliding as Dagahra flew at her, and Deutalios started to spin around, generating a tornado that he was in the middle of. Manda wrapped her body around Dagahra, the two biting and clawing as they fell back to the ground while Deutalios curled himself up into a ball, and started sprouting spikes similar to those of a sea urchin, launching himself at Manda while she and Dagahra continued to grapple. Hitting her, he caused her to disengage, and then allowed Dagahra to quickly recover, diving under water as she flew above, lightning bolts firing out of her body while energy bolts fired out of his flippers and blasted into them, causing more explosions as Dagahra flew out of the ocean again, firing his shoulder cannons at his former friend. The Barem clusters were both frozen and shattered by her Ice Beam and once again Manda constricted herself around Dagahra as he bit into her and discharged energy and she did the same. As they broke away and fell back towards the island, Deutalios then generated another tornado which he absorbed into himself, before opening his mouth and letting a whale call echo from his body, which appeared as an almost transparent yellow beam from his mouth. Manda flew out of the way and then slammed her front claw into the rat, who blocked it as his front legs suddenly bulked up, gaining a hard shell like that of a crab's claws, and then leaping back as Dagahra flew back down, slamming Manda off of the beach and into the ocean. Deutalios grinned and leaped into the air, quickly retracting his back legs and letting his lure come back out as he dived in too, swimming after the two bigger kaiju. Ganimes peeked out once more, his eyes bulging out in fright as he saw more of the starfish rise to the surface of the ocean, albeit looking frozen and dead.
"Your heart is consumed with hatred and darkness Dagahra," Manda almost roared as the three kaiju swam at each other, Deutalios charging his front claws with the electricity of an electric eel and Dagahra growling as he sent out a Barem swarm from his shoulder cannons. Manda swam through the swarm, feeling a few latch on to her as she charged her body with electricity and killed most of them, their burning venom doing little to slow her down as she fired her ice beam, destroying the rest of the swarm. "I won't let you get to Atlantis!" She hissed in pain as she started to feel the venom course through her body and then dodged Deutalios's charge as she bit into Dagahra, and started to constrict him again, slamming him down into the sea floor, causing several fish and other animals to swim away rapidly. As the two fought each other, Deutalios saw Dagahra's expression, and grinned, begin to spin around again as he generated a whirlpool that grew in size.
"Oh Manda," Dagahra sighed as he wrestled her off and then started to absorb the whirlpool into his body, "You know in a parallel universe somewhere, you chose to help us, and because of that, I didn't even join Bagan in the first place. Or maybe you did actually finish me and Deutalios off long ago, meaning that you wouldn't be in this situation right now." As Manda fired her ice beam again, she felt herself suddenly get blasted upwards from another whale call by Deutalios, the rat's lure illuminating the shock in her face as she saw Dagahra's body crackling and glowing with red electricity, frying several fish and sea creatures that were too close. "Who I am kidding? It doesn't matter what decision you made…. because you would've still made this one!" Dagahra started to spin at incredible speed and Manda found herself caught in a vortex which carried her to the surface of the ocean, and Barem surrounding her and sticking to her body as crimson energy shocked her, causing the dragon to scream in agony as the venom ate away at her scales, and as Dagahra flew upwards, carrying her as he then looked into her eyes once more, seeing her pain and sorrow. "….. I'm sorry…. But you got in my way….."
"Y-y-y-y-ou," Manda gasped as she saw Dagahra charging up his energy beam, "So…. foolish…." Dagahra fired his beam, blasting several Barem off of Manda as she fell back past the island, closing her eyes as she felt the impact, and slowly floated down to the bottom of the sea, the venom making her too weak to do anything. "This is…. the end… I failed…. Please…. somebody, anybody…. stop him…." As if her prayer was answered, Manda suddenly saw a dark shape approaching her as several more Barem floated off her, leaving her with bite marks that leaked green. The shape got closer and closer, and then a pair of massive claws gently grabbed her, and a pair of red eyes looked at her.
"Hello…. You're Manda aren't you? I'm Ganimes, and I'm here to help you. I know a place where we'll be safe from him." Manda weakly nodded at the crab and he started scuttling along, leaping gently into the air as he started to swim in another direction from the island, making sure to keep ahead of the stray Barem which started going after them, their many eyes staring hungrily as quite a few of them began to cluster together, merging slowly but surely. Dagahra landed back on the beach, watching as Deutalios left the water again shaking himself off.
"Now what boss?!" Deutalios looked up at his friend, noticing how tired he seemed to be as Dagahra looked in the direction of Atlantis again.
"We rest now….. if she's still alive, the Hidotah will deal with her," Dagahra snorted as he saw one cluster of Barem start to resemble a bigger starfish, with eight limbs, black coloring, and a single red eye in the middle of it. "We go to Atlantis tomorrow okay?" Dagahra walked over to the cliff, and started to sleep…. Dreaming of his time in the city, and when he had met Manda for the first time.
Simpler times.
Monster Island: Earlier.
Anguirus woke up in a cold sweat, feeling the rumbling and the tremors that seemed to shake the whole island, and then just as suddenly they stopped. He could hear the various other residents from the island, whether they be birds or the smaller creatures that the Kamacurai mainly ate, shrieking with fear and running and flying around, with a few of the Kamacurai doing the same thing as their prey. Angurius honestly had no idea how many Kamacurai there were, but judging from how many seemed to die and appear again, they could be underground with a bigger number, which right now was being shook. The ground then stopped shaking, and Anguirus quickly ran across the island, tearing past trees and kicking some sand up as he started to run onto the beach, before ending up at the other side of the island, where Neo and the Shobijin were watching something in the distance. "Neo… what is it? What's going on?"
"I don't know Anguirus," Neo answered as the two saw a blue light shoot out in the distance, and just stay there hanging in the air. "…. There's something wrong…. I can feel it…." Neo was holding onto a vine while saying this, his crest glowing as he let go of it. "I can't get a closer look at it…. all I know is that it is called….. Atlantis."
"Like Caesar mentioned," Belvera said in awe, and yet with a tinge of concern. "I feel it too Neo…. Mother Earth does as well…." Neo then suddenly looked distressed, and then walked back to his cave, only saying one more thing to Anguirus as he went in.
"Tell the others if they didn't see it…. the next Acolyte is coming…. but…. so is something else…." He nearly stumbled down the pathway as his hand started to shake again, much more violently, and then his head started to buzz, with a voice he prayed he'd never hear again appearing as the fell to the ground. "No… not again… not now!"
"Oh SpaceGodzilla…. Did you think I was really gone all this time?" Neo could feel the Beast as it moved behind him, its voice dripping with venom as he saw more of its vines appear in front of him. The utterance of the name that he used to be called by made him feel even more distressed, and the Beast knew it. Neo crawled to the clear pool, trying to think of anything to get rid of it, but the Beast pulled him back, still talking as it wrapped more of its vines around him. "You will never be rid of me…. I am a part of you forever and always SpaceGodzilla…. and now, I think it is time I made sure that you know it…." The vines dug their way into his flesh, and hoisted Neo up in the air, starting to choke him. As Neo started to see everything going dark, he suddenly felt the Beast let go of him, and roar in anger as someone else pulled it away, and Neo's heart skipped a beat when he heard another voice he hadn't heard in a while.
"Neo…. I will hold it back as long as I can," Biollante's voice echoed through the chamber, and the Beast continued to roar against Biollante's vines, them coming out of the ground past Neo and her body being right in front of him. "Listen to my son…. you are stronger and more powerful than you think you are…. I don't think I will be able to do this again… but I believe in you Neo…. I always will….. I love you…. my son…" And with that, the Beast roared again, and Biollante launched herself out of the ground, and Neo fell down, the cave going silent again as he lay there, and started to gather his thoughts.
"I… have to tell them…. now…." Neo got up, and started to walk back towards the entrance of his cave, wondering how long Biollante could keep the Beast at bay…. and the inner strength and power she talked about. Elsewhere, Kong and Caesar watched from the top of Kong's cave, the blue light shining into the overcast sky. Kong snorted, noticing Kiri behind him looking too, and then saw Caesar leaning against his staff, his eyes closed as he thought about something deeply.
"That place over there, it's another civilization yes?" Kong was curious now, and he could see Anguirus walking around the other side of the beach from where he was, with Junior, Leo, and Ebirah following him, all three of them looking on in wonder too. "Who were they?"
"The Atlanteans my friend," the guardian answered as he looked at Kong. "You would not believe how advanced they were, even having the ability to create life. And like Skull Island, they have a guardian too. And your friend is welcome to listen if she wants to." At this Kong looked back at Kiri, the mantis's eyes widening as the ape held up his hand letting her know that it was okay for her to stay and watch.
"Advanced? Like those strange metal flying things? I knew metal boats existed, but I didn't know how far humans progressed in technology. The Guardian…. is she your sister? Manda?" Caesar nodded, and then sighed deeply as he looked back at the city.
"I haven't seen or heard from her in a long time… and I fear something has happened to her in the meantime. I have never been to Atlantis, and only know about it from Manda telling us, along with its fate." Caesar then walked up to Kong, and put his hand on his shoulder, looking at him directly while also looking at Kiri.
"Caesar, I think we're all going to have a meeting about this. So will you tell everyone this? At the meeting? Because I know that is a power source out there…. and I just know Bagan's going to get his dirty hands on it." Caesar then looked at Kong, and nodded again, jumping down back to the ground and leaving somewhere. Kong snorted, and then looked at Kiri, the mantis thinking about all she had heard. "Hey… you want to join us yet Kiri?"
"This one not ready…. Evil coming… Evil coming…" With that Kiri flew off somewhere, leaving Kong alone as he leaped back into his cave, grabbing his chain and axe and slinging them to himself. It was the last thing that Kiri said which made Kong pause, and it was all he could think about as he leapt down too, heading to where he had seen the rest of the group.
"Believe me Anguirus, you don't know what an earthquake is like right until you see all of your shiny stuff rattle and fall deep below," Ebirah chattered as he and the group that had gathered at the edge of the island to gawk at the risen Atlantis moved away. "And that over there….. oh I've heard stories about it…. some freaky stuff like making life or shit like that….."
"Create life?" Anguirus could see Junior and Leo looking at him, and nodded back silently, leading Ebirah away so the two could talk in silence. "Oh come on Ebirah, you know humans can't do that purposely…" With the two separate, Leo turned back and looked at the pillar of blue, sitting on a rock while the Shobijin sat on a tree branch and Junior sat next to him.
"Junior…. We need to talk," Leo finally spoke after a few minutes, the moth fluttering his wings as Junior looked at him. "I think this is going to be our next battle, and I need to get something straight with you before…. before something happens. Junior…. are you in love with me? The way you've cared for me, just how much you talk with me, and the fact that you have been sleeping with me, even though I can handle being alone? I want you to be honest…. tell me…. I won't be angry Junior…."
"… I am Leo…. I am…." Junior answered, burying his face in his hands as he said this, while looking over the distance, and then back at Leo, with tears in his eyes. "I'm sorry…. I couldn't tell you… I…. I…" Leo put his front leg over, and slightly rubbed Junior's face, looking at him with sympathy as Junior reached out, and rubbed some of Leo's fluff. "I was too scared…. because…. I lost my father…. I had to leave my mother…. I saw Mothra die…. And I can't… I don't want to lose you Leo…. I thought that by hiding it…. I'm sorry…."
"….. Junior…. Tell me, why did you fall in love with me?" Leo's soft voice helped soothe Junior some, and he remembered what Leo had told him some time ago, and started to calm down.
"I was so alone before I met Anguirus…. I spent several years here alone… and I had to live with the fact that I am the last of my kind. There were no other kaiju like me…. my age…. or who I could really talk to. So when Anguirus and I met Mothra and you, I was happy, happy to have someone else to talk with, and spend time with. You listened to me Leo, and I listened to you, and after a while, I started to feel a connection with you. I couldn't explain it at first, but I felt it in my chest, a warm feeling, like I was really happy being with you. When you told me you loved me, and I was…. stupid… I felt devastated, like I had hurt you badly, and then, I think I was starting to realize I was falling in love with you. When… when we lost her and you were there… I knew you needed someone to talk to, and I wanted to pay you back for how you were there for me… and… I realized my feelings then. Training with you, talking with you, or even just relaxing together, I feel like you understand me, better than anyone else ever did or could. That's why I fell in love with you Leo….. because…. of you…. I don't care that you're a Divine Moth or even a tribe outside of my own…. I fell in love with you…." Junior finished talking and closed his eyes, feeling a massive weight leave his chest as he looked down. Then he felt something touch the other side of his face, and he opened his eyes, seeing Leo's green eyes staring into his, and the moth silently leaned forward, placing his forehead against Junior's.
"I love you Junior…. nothing will ever change that…. and we will… we will work through this together… I know we will…. You aren't stupid… you're you. Like you said to me…. We will make this world a better place… we will stop Bagan…. together…" Junior closed his eyes, and kept his forehead against Leo's, the two kaiju standing there for some time.
"I… love you Leo…. so much…." Then Junior opened his eyes again, and watched as Leo looked at him, the two pulling away silently, just staring at each other. "Can we make this work? Between us? When should we begin?"
"Small steps Junior, small steps. We can begin now," Leo answered as the moth fluttered over, and sat on Junior's back right above his dorsal plates carefully, his wings draping Junior slightly and the moth putting his head next to Junior's. "We'll figure it out as we go, okay? Together."
"Together….. We need to call a meeting Leo," Junior responded, smiling at…. his lover…. Even thinking of the word made his chest feel warm. "We need to discuss what to do about Atlantis, if there is another Acolyte, and… we need to tell them about us…." Leo and Junior then psychically let the Shobijin know to go out and gather everyone for the meeting, and then looked back at Atlantis once more, before going back to Leo's cave.
Their cave.
Monster Island: Some time after Dagahra and Manda's fight.
Junior looked around, seeing Kong leaning against the entrance of the cave, Caesar learning on his staff as he watched intently, Ebirah fiddling around with a shiny thing, Angurius looking at both Junior and Leo sensing something had changed between the two of them, and Neo…. who seemed very nervous, and was looking at his hands. Moll, Lora, and Belvera looked around at all of the other kaiju, and then Junior stepped up, starting the meeting for everyone. "There's several things that we need to talk about today, so if anyone wishes to speak first, then do so." Caesar looked at Kong, and then he walked up first, looking at everyone.
"As I am sure most of you know, this island was rocked by earthquakes earlier all due to the rise of Atlantis again. There are two things that I am sure of that will happen because of this, with one being that my sister Manda has reawakened." Ebirah's eyes raised up in their stalks as he heard this name, and Caesar smiled at this. "If we can find her, or if she comes to us, then we will have another ally to help us in our quest. However, the second thing is what we need to be wary of, as I am sure that some of you have already figured out."
"New Acolyte right?" Anguirus spoke first.
"He told me there was a power source there," Kong answered, adding to the conversation as he got up and walked to Caesar. "So yeah, you can guess who wants it more than anything in the world."
"I was content to live out the rest of my life in peace and quiet," Ebirah groaned when he heard this, "but no, some asshole suddenly decided he wants to do something with the world, so yeah, I ain't surprised anymore."
"Then, what should we do Caesar?" Leo asked the next question, his voice tinted with a hint of nervousness as he flew up just a bit, getting higher on the rock he was sitting on. "Should we go to Atlantis and try to stop the Acolyte there?" Junior grabbed his lover's front leg, looking at him as he tried to help calm him down.
"It would be wise yes…. but I have no knowledge of Atlantis outside of knowing that they created life with their power source. So if we are to go, we must proceed with extreme caution…. and pray the Acolyte does not know how to harness the power. If we can find Manda however, she can tell us more than we know already. Atlantis had other guardians, but as far as I know, they all disappeared a long time ago." Caesar sighed, and walked back to his spot, leaning against his staff as he thought about his sister.
"Then we go to Atlantis? Alright…. I can handle it." Neo looked away from everyone, listening while thinking about what had happened in the cave, while looking at up at the sky through the hole in the roof. And yet… he couldn't help but notice how different Junior and Leo were acting with each other, something he didn't really understand. Anguirus seemed eager enough to want to go, as did Kong, and yet between Caesar and Ebirah, Neo could not read them nor if they wanted to go, with the crustacean seeming to change his mind every minute or so.
"There's something else we need to talk about," Junior said, looking at Leo and silently reassuring him as everyone turned to look at them.
"Junior and I…. we are together now… as mates…" Anguirus's lack of reaction surprised both Junior and Leo, and the dinosaur walked up to the two of them as everyone else stared at them in shock.
"…. I knew it all along you two…." Anguirus started to smile, his voice tinged with sympathy as he continued to speak. "So did Lea… we both did… I know… I know you may be nervous right now, but that's okay. I'm happy for the two of you…. and I will still help you in any way I can so we can live in a peaceful world. I promise that." It was Kong who spoke next, the ape having a more mixed reaction to this revelation.
"But aren't you different tribes? Sorry…. I'm a bit confused is all…."
"Good for the two of you," Ebirah sputtered as he tried to process it. "You won't see me getting a mate anytime soon. No sir!"
"So, intertribal relationships are still alive? Interesting," Caesar purred in curiosity, scratching his chin as he looked at the two of them. The Shobijin seemed to be almost relieved, as if they had been tired of knowing what Anguirus knew, and not wanting to say anything for the sake of their privacy.
"…. My congratulations brother. He makes you happy doesn't he?" Neo's quiet voice caught everyone's attention, who now looked at him, wondering why he hadn't spoken yet. "I… don't get relationships like that… but… it's always nice having someone who cares about you…."
"Neo, are you okay? Is there something you have to tell us?" Junior's question made Neo look at everyone, and standing up, he breathed in deeply, thinking before he spoke.
"I do. Some of you already know this, but…. there is a creature called the Beast which dwells in my mind, and it has been tormenting me for quite some time now." Leo and Junior looked at Anguirus, who silently regarded Neo, while Kong tensed up, gripping his axe tighter, and Ebirah squeaked in fright, hiding behind Caesar who stood up, his eyes glowing as he looked at Neo. "It has tried to take over my body for some time now… and while I thought it was gone for good, it's come back. I think… I think I am becoming dangerous to be around…." Neo looked away shamefully, his tail swishing as he clenched his fist. "I don't think I should come to Atlantis, because if the Beast takes over and I can't surpass it…" Before Neo could finish, suddenly the group heard a cry from the other side of the cave, and everyone stopped to listen. "Something's coming, let's go!" As everyone left the cave, Neo wondered what exactly would happen if it took over his body, and prayed silently, that he could do something, anything to stop it if that turned out to be the case. Leo and Junior were leading the group, and the two looked at each other, Junior smiling at Leo… and Leo's chest burning with warmth, the two staring at each other for a few seconds more as they reached where the cry had come from. The group stopped, and what they saw took them all by surprise.
"Sister!" There before them lay a beautiful eastern dragon lying in the sand, wounded with several wounds occupied with the strange red starfish that Junior had seen on the dead whales some time back. She fluttered her eyes briefly, trying to look at the group who had come. Above her, was a crustacean that looked like a bigger version of the crabs that Junior saw sometimes scuttling on the beach, always digging themselves in the sand to hide whenever he stomped on by. "What has happened?!"
"Ganimes?! Is that you!?" Ebirah stood up in shock, his eyes bulging out of their sockets.
"Yes cousin, it's me. Listen all of you…. someone called Dagahra did this to her. Can you help her? I think we're being chased."
The next Acolyte had been revealed to them, and the Earth Defenders looked to the city off in the distance.
They would go to Atlantis after all.
Author's Note: Hello everyone and I am back with part 4 of ROTK, and I'd say we are off to quite a start. So, every chapter in this part will begin with a part of Dagahra's backstory, in order to help show what exactly happened to him, and it is an interesting experiment I want to try. As for Leo and Junior, yup, they finally confessed to each other, and from here on out they are a couple although it will be a bit awkward at first, and the story will still take priority above everything else, and since both share the same goal of taking down Bagan, then they should have no issue working together. And yes, the Beast will finally have a bigger role from here on out, and you will see it return constantly. Here is the voice cast with some new additions.
