"Rachel's gonna have my head for this," Kurt whispered. Kurt, Blaine and Finn were stood outside the Berry residence, waiting to be let into the disastrous party taking place.
The two boys had been dating for a few months now, unbeknownst to the rest of the New Directions. After Blaine had gone over for dinner at the Hudmels for the first time, he had become a new figure around the house. He often went shopping with Kurt and Carole on the weekends, and would watch football with Burt and Finn while Kurt and Carole made dinner. However, Finn had been sworn to secrecy about Kurt and Blaine's relationship. Not even Mercedes knew about the development. As far as anyone was concerned, Kurt and Blaine were just really close friends who bonded over being bullied.
Kurt was hoping to change that tonight. He was tired of hiding his relationship with Blaine. If the other members could parade their relationship around, why couldn't he do so as well? That's why when he found out about the party through Finn, he invited both himself and Blaine.
Now, here they are stood outside Rachel's house, hand in hand.
"Relax, dude. Rachel can be self-centered, but she'll be happy for the both of you," Finn replied.
"And in any case, we could just always leave," Blaine chimed in, a bright smile on his face. Kurt squeezed his hand and smiled back.
The door swung open to reveal Rachel Berry in a horrendous excuse for a dress. Kurt widened his eyes in horror.
"Hey! Kurt, Blaine, I didn't know you were coming. Of course, we always have room for everyone but I don't think I'm comfortable having you guys here. I mean, Kurt, you will always be part of the New Directions but you and Blaine are Warblers and I'm not sure I can trust you not to spy."
Kurt took a deep breath, while Blaine tried his best to diffuse the situation. "Blazers are off, Rachel. We're just Kurt and Blaine tonight, no show choir business, I promise."
Rachel looked pensive, "in that case, welcome to Casa de Rachel." She started leading them down to the basement, where the party was taking place.
Is this even a party? Kurt thought. You could barely hear the music, the lights were on, there weren't any party games, no one was drunk…This party sucks.
"Okay, you get two wine cooler tickets, use them wisely." Rachel stated, handing out two tickets to each of the three boys.
"Kurt! You're here!" A blur of blonde launched itself into Kurt, nearly knocking him backwards. Kurt let go of Blaine's hand to hug the blonde cheerleader.
"Hi, Britt." They both detangled from each other.
"Rachel, I don't mean to sound like a bitch…well, actually, yeah I do, but this party sucks ass." Santana headed over to Rachel and the new arrivals. "Hello, Porcelain, Gay Warbler, Frankenteen."
"Hi to you too, Satan." Kurt greeted her, Blaine muttering a "hello," while Finn just gave her a tight smile.
"The demon bitch has spoken, we need some serious liquor to spice this boring ass party up," Puck joined in.
"I guess I could steal a couple bottles from my dads' liquor cabinet…"
"I'll replace them in the morning, don't worry," Puck promised. He turned to the room, "let the party begin!"
This was how, an hour later, they found themselves on the floor playing Spin the Bottle. Kurt and Finn had decided early on that he was going to be responsible and stay sober in the case of an emergency. Blaine had had a few drinks but was clear-headed for the most part.
Their relationship announcement had been postponed due to everyone being drunk off their asses. Kurt wanted everyone to be in their right mind when he announces his relationship with Blaine, so he thought it was best to wait. Of course, not everything goes to plan.
"My turn!" Rachel basically shouted, reaching for the bottle. Everyone watched as it spun and landed on… "Blaine! I am going to rock your world, Blaine Warbler."
Blaine sat there in shock, his brain barely processing what was happening. Thankfully, Kurt was seated right next to him and took control of the situation.
Rachel was leaning towards Blaine, her lips coming closer by the second. Blaine was putting his hand up to stop her when Kurt exploded.
"Absolutely not, Rachel Barbra Berry!" Everyone stared at the pale boy in shock.
"Kurt, it's the rules of the game. Besides, it's not like you're dating." Rachel replied.
"Actually, Rachel, we are." Blaine finally spoke up.
A pause.
"Wait, what?" "Yeah, get some, Hummel!" "Does this mean Blaine's a unicorn?" "What the hell, Kurt? Why didn't you tell me?" "Aw that's so cute, I'm happy for you!"
Kurt took a deep breath and felt a hand slip into his. Blaine.
"Yes, Blaine and I have been dating for a few months and I didn't tell you because I didn't know how to. I knew you guys would have mixed reactions and frankly, I didn't think they were going to be congratulatory. It's one thing to be gay, it's another to actually be in a gay relationship. Plus, there was the whole Jesse fiasco from last year so I know you guys aren't too keen when it comes to dating outside of our circle."
"I'm sorry, Kurt, I didn't think we would make you feel like that," Tina spoke softly.
"Yeah, dude. I know I still kinda tease you for being gay but I'm chill with it. Plus, Blaine's a cool dude and it's about time you're happy." Puck contributed. Everyone turning to him in confusion. "What? I can be nice at times."
"I know it may not seem like it sometimes but, we do love you Kurt. We've seen how you've struggled in Glee, seeing all of us in happy relationships and not being able to experience it yourself. I'm glad you found your man." Quinn smiled at him.
"Just one thing, short stack," Santana spoke next, "you better treat him right. If you even dare to break his heart, I will personally go Lima Heights on your ass."
Kurt rolled his eyes, Blaine tensing next to him. "Do I even want to know what that means?" Blaine whispered into his boyfriend's ear.
"No, you do not." Kurt whispered back. "Thank you, for your support. McKinley wasn't safe for me but I'm glad I feel safe with you guys." He addressed the rest of the room.
"Anything for our boy," Mercedes came over and gave him a hug. "But if you keep a secret like this from me again, I will break into your house and dump out all your skincare."
Blaine laughed, Kurt didn't.
