Tao scrolled through the information on his weapon and gear. Gas mask, Inkfall top, Green hi-tops, Slosher…Taking another look at the special weapon, Kamoga noticed the Slosher gives you a little thing called "Tenta Missiles", which, as the name suggests, gives you access to missiles that you can fire on your enemies.
"[Just like the Tenta Bombers…]"
"What was that, Tao?" Wanda asked, overhearing a little of what he said.
Tao laughed nervously. "[It's nothing, really!]"
The course was Humpback Pump Track. The zone was in the center of the stage, with the enemies on the North side, and Tao's team on the south side. The other team was made of the Splatterscope from the last round, an Octoling male with a Slosher, a Splatbrush, and a Splattershot. The countdown began and both teams took off. Icewave, Wanda, and Tommy were with Tao again.
"This way!" Tommy said, inviting his teammates to join him in turfing the center.
"[But, I thought-]"
"Tao," Icewave said, "that's just for Turf War. On Ranked battles, you need to head straight to the center."
Tao gave her a dirty look and followed her. The opposing team had a fuchsia ink color, while Tao's team has a mint green color; almost like the sanitization…Tommy and Wanda covered the middle and hid in their ink.
How do they do that? Tao wondered. Is it possible for me too, as well? Or is it not, because I'm an android?
"Look out!"
A burst bomb came flying at Tao's face. Luckily, he ducked just in time, and it missed him. Another came shortly after, and that one hit Tao in the face, knocking off his mask. The Splattershot Inkling swam up to him and fired some of her ink at Tao. To her surprise, the ink just ran off his face and body, leaving Tao completely unharmed.
"What the-?" She shot his some more, hoping that it'll make a difference this time. She failed, so she picked him up instead.
"[Wait, what are you doing, lower life form? Put me down this instant!]"
"Okay, if you say so." She tossed him into the water. She tossed him his mask as well. "Enjoy your swim, weirdo."
Tao closed his eyes. He couldn't swim and he knew there was no use trying. When he re-opened his eyes, he was standing on his team's spawn point. His team had lost the zone a little while ago, and only one minute was left to take it back.
Tao charged to the center, staying far enough so he won't get shot at, but close enough so he could still hit other people. When the Splatterscope Inkling came out of the ink, he tossed a suction bomb behind her. She moved away from Icewave, who had come to get rid of the sniper, and died from the bomb's explosion.
"Nice job, Tao!" Icewave exclaimed, giving him a thumbs-up.
A small screen popped up in front of Tao. "[Splatted…Jane.]"
After the last minute was up, Judd and Little Judd came to judge the results. After examining the team's points, the decision was final. Tao's team had won…by 0.01 points.
