Chapter 03 A nice evening

After the shopping trip, Victoria took Judy and Juan back to the hotel again. All of their purchases were being packed up and made ready to be delivered to the hotel as ordered by Victoria.

"I can't wait for the Oscar ceremony to be behind us and that that mad man is behind bars, then we can live our lifes the way we want it." Victoria sighed.

Judy nodded her head, Juan agreed and suddenly smiled a bit.

"You two found everything you will need for the ceremony, right?" He inquired.

Judy nodded her head, "Yes, even though I don't feel too comfortable with wearing make-up."

Victoria smirked, "Oh don't worry Juan, Judy will look absolutely stunning for the ceremony. You won't be able to take your eyes off her."

Judy blinked and noticed by that comment, that Juan turned away from them and pretended to look at some ugly painting on the wall. But it didn't miss her eyes that she saw him blush at Victoria's comment.

Juan thought instead, 'More like I won't take my eyes off you, my love.'

"Ah, that reminds me." Victoria suddenly said, looking at Judy, "We got your make-up, dress and hair done Judy. But I forgot to check for jewellery for you."

"But the shops are now closed," Judy pointed out.

Victoria nodded her head, "I can just give you something from my collection. Ok?"

Judy smiled, the two women left for Victoria's bedroom and Juan decided to sit in the living room and watch the news on TV.

Inside the bedroom, Victoria leads Judy to her make-up table. She pulled a heart-shaped box out and opened it. It was flooded with bracelets, diamonds, pearls, rings and earrings too.

"Look at the collection Judy and try some of the things, in there on. Then once you got the selection made the outfit will be completed." Victoria smiled.

Judy blinked, "Wow, how many things do you own Miss Victoria?"

"About six pieces per month over the course of fifteen years maybe?" Victoria grinned.

She laid out hundreds of necklaces, rings, jewellery, earrings, and bracelets. She then lay back and watched Judy scan the sets.

"But you should pick yours first." Judy was about to argue. "I wouldn't want to take something you're intending to wear."

Victoria rolled her eyes, "Don't worry about me Judy, I got enough in my private collection, I could decorate fifty versions of myself with all sorts of stuff. Go on, pick."

Judy nodded, she again imagined the blue payetten dress on her figure and scanned the jewellery through. Because the main colour of her dress was blue, Judy knew she couldn't select any blue diamonds or bracelets. So all of that she placed back into the jewellery box.

Judy looked over the other jewellery, one necklace made out of pearls and had a golden leaf hanging on the front and held by small clips caught her eyes. Judy smiled and selected that one out. She picked it up and held the necklace against her neck.

It looked nice and wasn't heavy either. She nodded her head, ok necklace is done, now what?

Victoria came to her side, "And found anything decent yet Jully?"

"Judy." Judy sighed, rolling her eyes, "I quite like this pearl necklace from your jewellery box Miss with the golden leaf pendant. But I don't know what else could go along with it."

Victoria looked at Judy and nodded her head, "I see what you mean Judy. You can have the pearl necklace... mmmmmh..."

Victoria emptied out her entire chest and placed various bangles and earrings back into the box professionally and quickly. Checking and scanning every piece as she went along.

Judy did a quick mental calculation and came to the sum of $90000 just for the jewellery in the box alone. Halleluyah, she must have been collecting since she was a teenager or young child. No normal animal could wear all this stuff without having three lives to go through.

After searching and talking to herself a few hundred times, Victoria stopped and nodded her head, pulling from the jewellery box three bracelets made of gold leaf attachments. And she found a green diamond pendant necklace for Judy's neck.

"Try this on Judy," Victoria ordered, nodding her head.

Judy smiled and tried the necklace on, along with the golden bracelets and two purple coloured diamond rings.

"Um... I think this would be a bit much jewellery for me to wear. Also too expensive. If they break whiles we are at the Oscars you'd have the right to sue me." Judy pointed out.

Victoria nodded her head, "True Judy, but these pieces of jewellery are among the oldest pieces of jewellery in my collection. Plus I got a lot of them anyway. So you can borrow them and I wouldn't be angry if something would happen to them."

Judy blinked, "You sure?"

Victoria nodded her head, "Everything has to be perfect for the ceremony, no buts."

Judy nodded her head. After the pieces of jewellery were selected, Judy placed them into a necklace box and sealed it off with a key, she then hid it on her coat.

Once the pieces of jewellery were selected, Victoria reached for a zip-up cosmetic bag. Judy saw she pulled out several bottles of perfume and made from a few toilet paper small triangles.

"What's that for?" Judy asked.

Victoria smiled, "Just making a small sample of my perfumes. You can smell them and select one perfume out to wear at the festival."

Judy sighed, "First dress and shoes, then jewellery and make-up and now perfume?"

"You're not really a girly girl are you Judy?" Victoria grinned, "More like a Tom-boy, right?"

"Pretty much. I've never liked living a life as a 'girly girl'. I like sports, I love my job and my boyfriend a lot. So I never really had time for jewellery or make-up before." Judy admitted.

Victoria nodded her head and sprayed her perfume collection on several roles of tissue. Judy was given them and she sniffed them carefully.

The first roll smelled like lilies. Judy pulled her nose back and shook her head, that didn't smell right to her. Victoria nodded and parked one of her perfume bottles to the side.

The second roll smelled of roses. Judy also shook her head at that. No, roses were just too much. Another nod and another bottle packed away.

Third tissue Judy actually smiled at the smell. It smells like a nice variety of fruits to her and Judy nodded her head to that selection.

"Good." Victoria smiled, "It's the fragrant: Dior j'adore. Also one of my personal favourites."

"Um Victoria, why would an animal wear perfume? Wouldn't it spoil the other smells around one? If one would have to make sure not to be hunted by someone?" Judy inquired.

Victoria nodded her head, "Yes Judy, you're right. But a lot of animals are now very civilised. So we can wear perfumes if we chose to."

Judy agreed with her on that.

"Should we go back to Juan now? Or do we have to do something first?" Judy inquired.

Victoria shook her head, "We got everything sorted out now. So we can relax now for the rest of the evening."

Both women left Victoria's room and headed to the lounge to Juan.

Back in the 'living room'. Juan sat on the couch and was watching the news. He was also scouting on his laptop any more proofs for this 'mad mans' appearances anywhere else and if he'd ruin someone else's big moment.

It turns out, that the person they were after had. At least five assault and theft charges were brought against him, but never strong enough that he'd end up for a long period of time in jail. More like he was just repeatedly fined and the matter was then ignored.

'I wonder where you actually live.' Juan wondered. 'What are you up to now?'

Juan felt his own blood heat up, he'd normally not be against any animals, but knowing someone wanted to hurt the woman he was in love with brought his own blood to boil.

'If I get my paws on you, you... I'd kill you myself. No one will ever hurt my good friend.' Juan thought, but he also felt helpless.

He may be good with sorting documents out, filling stuff away and finding them, online banking and all that paper stuff. But when it comes to violence or fighting, then he was on the shallow end of the dream pool, as they say.

Juan sighed, it wasn't his fault that he finds numbers and letters more interesting to study than sports or fighting. Hopefully, Judy will be able to help them.

About half an hour later, Juan saw Judy and Victoria return from her bedroom and the two women sat next to him on the couch, also watching the news.

Juan turned to Victoria, "I've scoured the web about the threat person and found these pieces of information."

He handed Judy his laptop and Judy read through the paragraphs and charges. Yup, this bloke does seem to have a track record of assault charges indeed.

"Not good." Judy sighed shaking her head, "If he has so many, then it means he must be an expert and knows where to strike us."

That gave Victoria an idea, she grabbed Juan's laptop and typed in the location of the oscar ceremony and after-party.

"Juan get your phone out and hire at least twenty surveillance people to keep an eye on us, the oscar ceremony and party. They might have a chance at spotting him and capturing the culprit before he strikes again." Victoria offered.

Juan nodded his head, but Judy looked confused.

"But, isn't that technically seen my job? Or can I go home and see my boyfriend again?" Judy asked.

Victoria shook her head, "No Judy. Your job is to protect me at the party. But if other people were to get hurt because of the threats sent to me then that would just highen the scandals more."

Judy agreed. Juan had the surveillance team set up out of a few good acquaintances of his and he nodded his head.

"We got a team together Miss." Juan smiled.

It was only a few minutes and Juan had an entire team set up together. Cool.

Victoria was getting a bit tired and decided to head to bed for an afternoon nap. Juan took Judy by the hand and walked with her out of the hotel and towards a juice bar at the hotel.

"I've asked the team to meet us here Judy. So you would know the scale we got for her protection." Juan explained.

Judy nodded her head and the two sat at the biggest table at the bar. A few minutes later, more animals suddenly came in. Judy counted all of them, mostly men. Juan nodded, everyone had a drink and he unfolded a card of the oscar ceremony stage, exits, seating arrangements and who was an invited guest.

"This is indeed a massive scale Mr Juan." A male wolf spoke.

Juan nodded and tried to keep his tears from falling. "It is, but with all the threats sent to her, this idiot will not pass the chance of striking her."

"We won't disappoint." The next animal said nodding his head.

Juan and Judy nodded their heads. The animals left back to their homes to get themselves ready, and Juan and Judy headed back to Victoria's side.

In a different location, not too far from where the oscar ceremony was to take place.

A masked figure broke into the ceremony rooms of the oscar Printing Paws. The figure looked around the place and saw it was cleaned, polished and set up to hold at least two thousand guests.

On the chairs, the names were placed by golden cards and looked very beautiful. The masked figure smirked and saw Victoria's name next to two other people: Judy Hopps and Juan Star.

"So her 'body guard' is the famous Judy Hopps and her stupid secretary who can't count two and two together." The figure chuckled.

He looked around the place but quickly figured out he couldn't strike here at all. There were going to be thousands of cameras filming it all and more animals that could stop him.

The masked figure left Printing Paws and jogged outside. He scanned and saw someone struggling with rolling a red carpet out. He grabbed a few silky gloves and ran to the other animal's side to help him out a bit.

"Sorry, I'm new. Where are we taking this?" He inquired, smirking.

The animal rolling it out was a panda bear, he smiled at the figure and thanked him.

"Just towards the street where the limousines, cars and taxis will arrive. The prominent animals only deserve the best." The man panted.

Together they rolled it all the way and the 'criminal' had a chance to look around the place quickly. It took both of them at least half an hour to roll it out.

As it was at the street's edge, the panda smiled at him. "Thank you for your help, sir. Can I invite you for a drink? This was the last piece needed to be put into place."

"Nah, but thank you for the offer." The animal smiled.

He waved to the panda bear and left the scene quickly, he looked one last time where the red carpet ended and nodded his head. This was the only striking point he could take.

The figure left the scene quickly and smirked, Victoria's filming career will be a disaster. They just knew it.
