The next morning began with the familiar noises of the ocean waves, and Winston fumbling through his files, trying to find any new intel gathered on Talon.
"I know I put it here somewhere, I'm not THIS unorganized to lose something I was just given, am I?" Winston stopped, as he heard the door open behind him.
"Looking for these, dear?" said Ana, holding up the files, "I'm nosey, I know, but it wasn't like I was getting any sleep anyway, so I figured I'd try to learn as much as I possibly could here instead."
Winston, relieved to see the files safe and sound, asked, "Were you able to find out anything new?"
"Yes actually, it would appear Talon has added to their ranks despite the loss of Amelie and Sombra. They have their foot soldiers and squadrons, of course. However, it would appear they've added some key higher ups, one of which being one of their co-leaders. Doomfist." Ana said sternly.
Winston's eyes narrowed. "Doomfist. I took him down once and I'll do it again, and that's a promise."
Ana smiled at Winston's confidence. "I'm sure it's nothing you can't handle, dearie. However, it would appear they've not only added him but also two others by the names of Sigma and an old friend from the Blackwatch days. Moira."
Winston, taken aback by this news, said, "Who knows what kind of experiments she's been running on the soldiers; let alone how she can augment Reaper and the rest of them."
"Agreed. Suddenly it doesn't seem like time is a luxury we have." Ana said.
Suddenly, the door opened once again this time with Tracer and Dva falling into the room. "Heh, and I thought I was nosey," Ana said, chuckling.
Pulling themselves up Dva saluted her captain and said, "Apologies, Captain, but it was totally Tracer's idea to listen in on that," Dva points at Tracer.
"What?! It was not my idea at all, come on Cap! You gotta believe me!" Tracer said frantically.
Ana laughed and put both of them at ease. "It's not a big deal either way. However, since you're both here, I would like to ask something of the two of you. Once Amelie wakes up, I want the two of you to spend the day helping her with her training."
"When she wakes up?" Dva said laughing, "I don't even think she's been to sleep yet, Captain. She's been in the Practice Range with Echo all night long."
Ana's eyes lit up upon hearing about Amelie's initiative. "Is that so? Well, I say we should go see how that's coming along then, hm?"
As Ana, Dva, and Tracer made their way to the Practice Range, Winston stayed behind to process the new info they had gotten and was especially interested in another bout with Doomfist.
Upon getting to the Practice Range the trio was greeted by Echo and a now asleep Amelie. "Greetings, Captain Amari, is there anything I can do for you?" Echo asked eagerly.
"No, not at the moment, Echo, but I do appreciate it. How is our friend doing over there?" Ana said, pointing to Amelie, who had drool hanging out of her mouth.
"She hadn't been doing too well at the start, but it seemed as she got more frustrated, her skills seemed to sharpen, not to the levels of when you and her with facing off but a definite improvement." Echo said proudly. Echo then noticed Dva staring a hole through her. "Yes Dva? Is there anything I can help you with?" Echo said sweetly.
"You look like a boss in one of the video games I play." Dva said accusingly.
"I can assure you I'm no-" Dva cuts off Echo.
"I have my eyes on you." Dva said sternly.
"Anyway... how long has Amelie been asleep" asked Ana.
"I would say only about a half an hour at most…she tried to stay awake as long as she could before passing out." answered Echo.
"We should get her up to her bed to properly sleep. We should have more reinforcements coming in tomorrow, assuming things go smoothly. Plus we have some things we can still work on for today." said Ana, looking at Tracer and Dva.
Tracer and Dva went over to Amelie and gently picked up her (Tracer holding her by the shoulders and Dva by the legs).
"She's a lot heavier than she looks, and her legs are taller than I am," Dva said, to herself, annoyed.
Once Tracer and Dva got her up to her room, Dva left in a huff, leaving only Tracer with Amelie. Tracer looked at how peaceful Amelie looked, a far cry from the cold and evil Widowmaker that once occupied her body. This moment was then ruined by a loud crash outside.
Everyone rushed to see what had happened and came to see Sombra and Zarya standing over some Talon foot soldiers and gear. "Who would've thought we'd make that good of a team, huh, pinky?" Sombra said smugly to Zarya.
"Keep it up and you will be next," Zarya said, sternly.
"What happened out here?!" asked Ana worryingly.
"I caught these five sneaking around out here. I had it under control until these machines put an aura around me-" Sombra cuts off Zarya to say.
"Weird flex for them, and try to use these suppressors that I made. They're made to suppress one's ability to properly use their fighting ability, whether it be physical or mental. Good news for me is they work. Bad news for all of us is they work." Sombra said annoyed.
Zarya sighs and goes on to say, "The small one was able to use her abilities to hack the machines, and I finished off the threat."
"Glad to see there's chemistry building here. Are either of you injured?" Ana asked concerned.
Sombra and Zarya were fine, but these small Talon attacks were confusing to say the least. Was it truly Reaper's incompetence as previously suggested by Sombra? Or was it something more?
The next morning everyone awoken to the noise of some friendly drop ships coming in.
"Ah it seems reinforcements have arrived at last," Ana said gleefully.
From up in Winston's office, you could see some familiar faces coming off the drop ship. Brigitte Lindholm, Reinhardt Wilhelm, the newly named Cole Cassidy, and a surprising one in Fareeha Amari, the captain's daughter. Ana knew that Cole was bringing along Brigitte and Reinhardt but was just as surprised as anyone else to see her daughter with them.
"As much of a joy it'll be to see my Fareeha again, I can't help but ponder at the level of awkwardness and tension it may bring," Ana said concerned.
While unsure if this would be the final crew, the ranks now sat at Tracer, Amelie, Zarya, Ana, Winston, Sombra, Dva, Echo, Cassidy, Brigitte, and Reinhardt. However, there were a couple outliers in Mercy, who stood by a refusal to go out into combat on moral, and Pharah. who may not help on previous issues with her mother. Pharah and Cassidy entered first.
"It's been a long-time, ma'am. It's an honor to be fighting by your side again," said Cassidy, tipping his hat.
"Aw you've always been a charmer, Cole." Ana said smiling before looking to her daughter and causing an awkwardly long and uncomfortable atmosphere in the office.
The silence was then broken by Reinhardt who had no idea about Ana still being alive and well, bellowing out "ANA HOW COULD THIS BE-" before Brigitte jumped on his back and covered his mouth.
"Sorry about that, we wanted to keep it a secret from him, and I wasn't aware something serious was going on," Brigitte said nervously.
However, the outburst from Reinhardt was exactly what was needed to break the tension as both Ana and Pharah started to laugh.
"It's been a long time, Mom; a lot has changed," Pharah said directly.
"Yes, yes it has. I'm sure you're going to want an expla-" Pharah cuts off Ana with a hug.
"You don't have to say anything. I'm just happy to have you back in my life," said Pharah as tears welled up in her eyes.
Ana embraced her daughter back as both Amaris were now crying. The room was filled with happiness and Reinhardt crying as Brigitte consoled him, along with Sombra dry heaving from what she was seeing, which caused Dva to flick the back of her head.
"OW you little twerp what is your problem?!" said Sombra excessively loud.
"Consider it payback, you jerk," Dva said with a pout.
Sombra, while annoyed, was again seemingly unable to stay that way. Previously, anyone who dared to do this would be dead before they even came close to her. Sombra couldn't also help but notice how cute Dva was as she pouted. She decided to vanish before anyone saw her blushing.
"There is one piece of business that we need to go over Mom. Something I want you to hear from me before anyone else," Pharah said wiping the tears from her eyes.
"Uh-oh," Tracer whispered to Amelie
"This is going to be interesting," said Amelie smirking.
"You're dating Mercy?" Ana said without emotion causing Pharah to die on the inside.
"H-how did you know that, M-Mom?" Pharah said sheepishly.
"That doesn't matter. What were the two strictly forbidden rules I set for you?! Do not join Overwatch and do not date anyone from Overwatch!" Ana said sternly.
Suddenly Ana was going off on a rant about how kids these days don't listen. Ana might as well of been 14 feet tall and Pharah might as well of been 8 years old again. Pharah began looking around the room begging for a distraction before Mercy suddenly appeared.
"That's enough, Captain Amari." Mercy said angrily.
"Oh, good you're here, saves me the task of finding you to also give you an earfu-" Mercy suddenly cuts off Ana.
"NO CAPTAIN!" Mercy yelled. "It is you that is going to be doing the listening! I've had it up to here with all your threats and remarks towards me and now to your own daughter!" Mercy began berating Ana as Ana was doing to Pharah. "I love Fareeha and she loves me! And regardless of your feelings on it, neither of those are going to change!"
"I can't believ-" Ana was again cut off by Mercy.
"I SAID YOU'RE DOING THE LISTENING HERE!" Suddenly Mercy was the one who seemed 14 feet tall and Ana seemed like the 8-year kid, as Mercy went on. However Ana's expression changed from anger to fear to a smile...? "ARE WE CLEAR ON THINGS CAPTAIN? HM?!" Mercy said taking a deep breath.
Showing off a side of her that no one thought existed, she had finally stood up to Ana and fully professed her love towards Pharah.
"Well Dr. Ziegler I have to admit, I did not know you had that in you, but with that being said…" Mercy looked at Ana with a sudden worried look expecting the worst. "You have my blessing to date my daughter." Ana said with a big smile.
"Just another test, huh, Cap?" Tracer said chuckling.
"And she passed with flying colors, a true prodigy in everything she does," Ana said walking over to hug the stunned Mercy. "Now then, Reinhardt."
Rein suddenly jolted up and kneeled down next to Ana, "Ana I can't believe you're actually alive!" Rein said nervously.
"I'm sorry Reinhardt, after everything that happened, I needed time..." Ana said embracing Reinhardt.
Suddenly Cassidy looked up to notice Amelie standing slightly behind Tracer and drew his gun.
"Now what in the hell is she doing here?!" Cassidy yelled.
"The brash cowboy always jumping to conclusions," Amelie said rolling her eyes, surprisingly okay with the situation.
"Settle down Cole, she's with us now," Ana said reassuringly, "I'll explain everything to everyone shortly."
Ana goes on to explain the process of capturing Amelie and helping her regain herself to rid the world of The Widowmaker, along with what's going to happen next and the changes seen amongst the ranks in Talon. Given the attack from Talon the previous day and the new talon member Moira coming to light, it appeared as the date with destiny was coming sooner rather than later.
