Chapter 40:

Chapter 40, A Fateful Decision

Trekiva sighed as he looked through the Plexiglas window that gazed into the hospital room. His blue eyes carrying heavy regret at the reason behind him looking through the window. Laying still on the white bedding, with her father next to her was Haruhi. Her eyes shut and the machines near her beeping softly in tandem with her heart. Shifting his eyes away from the sight, he glanced at his grandson.

Teshiro had his head down and his hands between his knees as he sat in the light orange plastic chair. He did not feel right about what he had done, even with his grandfather explaining that it was for the best. Sure, she could have done worse if they let her power continue to flux as it was, but that didn't mean he liked the fact it was him that locked away her power and forced her into a coma.

"Do not," Trekiva said quietly, causing the boy to snap his head up. "Do not torment your mind on this. If any should suffer that fate, it should be me. I had hoped to have more time to bring her into the power she carried. It would have taken a longer span but it would have been far more gentle for all involved."

"Doesn't change the fact I am the one who did it," Teshiro sighed, turning to look into the room.

The elder vampire sighed again and placed a hand on the young Elemental's shoulder. He could understand why he was so torn, so conflicted. Teshiro had been eager to meet her, all of his children were, but none wanted this to happen. Trekiva looked back towards her grandchildren inside the room before stepping away to check on the other children.

He considered it good fortune that only the area around where the portion of the school destroyed was minimal and that only a small handful had been injured. The worst of the injuries were held by Kyoya and Haruhi, while there was one confirmed death due to heavy trauma. The media had fully blamed the accident on a rather strong earthquake that had caught everyone in the nation off guard. Chairman Suoh had spoken to the press that although a majority of the students were safe, he was grieved that not all were able to come from this experience without injury. As for the collapse of the balcony near where the children were, it was blamed on a small bit of structural damage that was to be repaired later that day when none of the students would be near for their safety.

Everyone bought the almost lie as there was given proof that such damage was recorded and was to be fixed. No one could have predicted an earthquake that very day.

Trekiva paused at another window looking into another room. It was encased in darkness and Void energy but had enough light to show the inhabitant of the room. Kyoya lay on the pristine sheets wrapped in bandages with his Void shuffling around the walls.

Quin'Derax kept a strong vigil over his master, his own grief weighing on him at his inability to protect him. He had been there, his mortal cast with Akito and the Ootori patriarch, but due to his master's order, he could do nothing but watch and bide his time.

*~*Flashback (Quin'Derax)*~*

When the balcony had collapsed on his cast, he quickly surged to protect his young master, forcing Akito's radiance to backfire against him. He had reveled in the utter terror that crossed the vile human's face at his full form. As an elder Void, Quin'Derax was more of a misty dark purple rather than navy blue. Younger Void had purple bracers with gold trim and emerald gems interlocked with them, he carried no bracers and had dark silver steel pauldron with the Void Crest in a vivid glowing dark purple floating at his back. It only took a moment to call forth his own power to lash back at the foolish man, sending him halfway through the courtyard to land in some rose bushes. He loomed over his master's burned body, a lower growl emitting from his shadowed body as he lifted the boy gently.

His glowing silver eyes turned to the elder Vampire, easily recognizing the dark fury in them from when he first told the male about the Katayama and his plans pertaining to the girl. Trekiva was gently holding Haruhi to his chest, his blue eyes shifting to a near black color as he glared at the rumpled form of the fool that caused all of this. They then turned to the other arrivals, his Void-infused eyes easily noting the different levels of power in each being, as well as the familial relations between them. The young male that had cast the powerful spell against Haruhi had his head lowered in shame and regret, which confused the demon but let it slide. His focus was to get his master somewhere to heal. He gave one last look at his master's family before letting the shadows and darkness take them to safety.

*~*Flashback End (Quin'Derax)*~*

Since his impromptu arrival at the building, the demon had never left his summoner's side and loomed near those that came near him. It came as a bit of a surprise when the doctors gave no mind to him being there and even accommodated him by letting him see everything they were doing and explaining what each item did as they used them to fix the damage done. The staff were considerate enough to keep it the same people as best a possible and had made sure that they knew how to treat a half-void child. The last visit had the doctor explaining to him that they were going to prepare Kyoya for an emergency surgery that would help remove the remaining Radiant energy and begin to let his demonic blood to heal the damage.

The doctor had explained that a caster who was specialized in such magic would be doing the procedure with a Master of Void energy working alongside them to keep Kyoya's darker blood from lashing out subconsciously. Quin'Derax had wanted to know whom both people would be and thus was waiting for their arrival as the doctor stated that the two would introduce themselves.

He gently reached out towards his young summoner and moved a couple stray hairs from the boy's face without touching the bandages. He hoped those people arrived soon. His master was weakening fast and if he weakened further, his heritage would surge and destroy everything around him.

Trekiva watched the gentle moment before moving to the next room. The door was open and he saw Satoshi sitting up in the bed with Sayuki and Yasuchika next to him. The young vampire's left arm was in a full plaster cast. Apparently his arm had been broken when he and Yasuchika had been running through the halls making sure that there were no stragglers during the evacuation due to the earthquake. He had lost his footing at the top of one of the stairwells and tumbled all the way down. They had heard the crack of bone over the cacophony of panic and knew that it was going to be bad despite the fact he had the ability to regenerate the injury. A broken bony was agony to heal, regardless of race.

Satoshi looked up to see Trekiva standing in the doorway.

"Is Haruhi-nee okay?" he asked wobbly.

"Given time," he offered. "Right now, it is safest for her to be as she is."

Satoshi looked down at his lap and slumped. Due to the bond growing between her and his brother, he could slightly feel events that happened through her but when that feeling suddenly cut off during the earthquake, he had feared the worst as it had also cut off on his brothers side too. When he had been brought in to get his arm checked and placed in a cast, both of his parents had arrived shortly after to make sure he was okay. When he had been rolled out to get the cast, his father had left shortly there after but his mother assured him that he was still there. He wondered where his father had left to but was sure he had a good reason.

Mori stirred slightly on the firm mattress he was laying on. He could hear the beeping of machines and could faintly see the outlines of something above and near him due to the shadows that played over his eyes. He tried to touch the connection he had with Haruhi, something he often did since it had formed and tensed when he felt nothing. He felt his blood begin to boil and churn as the emptiness of the connection settled over his body. His body began to shake and when a shadow leaned over him, and he felt hands moving over his body, he lashed out and grabbed the being by the throat.

He slowly sat up, his eyes flashing a dark crimson, and spoke with fangs bared. "Where is she?"

The person in his hand, tried to speak but nothing came out of his mouth as he struggled to get air into his lungs. Zarik tried to get a hold of the young vampires wrist to get him to let go but the boy's hand only tightened. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw the young blond that came with him run in with an older male that closely resembled the one holding his throat with Nenai close behind.

"Where is she?" Mori asked again, his voice dark with rage.

"Your Queen is resting," Nenai spoke, causing everyone to look at her. "Were she gone, her dragon would not rest at your throat."

Mori slowly let go of Zarik's throat and reached towards his own neck. When his fingers touched a thin chain, he pulled it to his eyes. There, hanging at the end of the light silver chain, was the jade form of Qurdox.

"Qurdox?" he called hesitantly.

"I am here young one," the dragon rumbled mournfully.

"Where is Haruhi?"

"Her power had been temporarily sealed for her own safety, and for your own. The backlash of her power suddenly being cut off sent her into a coma, and as a result, caused you to collapse as well. The bond between you both is so very strong, a good thing in most cases, but it can also be a bane without proper knowledge. Her last order to me before her power was taken was to protect you."

Mori's body shook, but this time in sorrow and grief as well as rage. Akira placed an hand on his eldest son's shoulder, gently pulling him to his chest as he sat on the edge of the bed. When he felt the shock wave of pain in his arm when Satoshi's broke, he and Sayuki hurried to learn where their youngest was being sent for treatment. He was relieved that his youngest was going to be fine but when he felt the bond between Mori and Haruhi suddenly cut off, he was filled with dread. Holding his son to him, Akira breathed calmly, letting his aura surround his child to try and sooth his pain and anger.

He watched as the woman walked over calmly, her deep crimson kimono barely making any sound, towards the doctor Mori held moments ago. Once she was assured that he was fine, he left and she looked at his son with sorrowed eyes but Akira also noticed recognition.

Nenai sighed softly, knowing full well the pain the young vampire was in. The only difference between the pain he was in and the one she had endured was that his beloved was still alive. She had lost Alexander some years before and the pain was still raw in her chest. With a soft glance, her eyes asked her question and Akira nodded. She sat next to Mori and gently ran her fingers through his short hair.

"I know your pain young one," she spoke softly. "Far better than you realize. Your Queen just rests, her dragon safely with you."

"Why?" Mori asked, his voice barely above a whisper.

"The one to answer that is on his way. He grieves this choice with good reason."

Mori let out a shaky breath as he felt Trekiva's aura getting closer.

Before walking completely towards the room Takashi was in, he paused at Haruhi's room again. Standing at the window were three people whom he needed to speak with, one of them more than the others. The tallest wore a black cheongsam that went to the floor and thin black hakama. His hair was a deep black, close to the endless darkness of the Void itself, his eyes though, the only color came from his irises, the rim was a bright lavender and close to the pupil was a pale ice blue that seemed to seep into the soul, all else was blacker than night. Next to him was Kayon and a younger male with long blond hair that reached well down his back decorated with several beads. He was dressed in pale blue tank top and a black vest with slightly torn blue denim jeans and black combat boots loosely tied on his feet.

"Lin Kai, Aujuri," he greeted softly. "Thank you for your timely arrival. Yours as well Kayon."

"Teshiro gave me a rough idea what happened," Kayon stated. "The Elements told me the rest. You are aware that he feels greatly conflicted over doing this to her?"

"I am aware, Kayon and I truly wish there had been a different option to take, but.."

"Given the circumstances," Aujuri interjected. "It was the only one that would ensure minimal damage and give some time before things got too far out of hand. We felt the shock wave of her awakening all the way on Sancturis. There are only three people who could possibly teach her how to use that much power."

"The two of you and myself," Lin Kai spoke, his voice calm and quiet. "You had hoped to introduce her to that level when she was closer to understanding the power in her blood. Given alternate realities of the situation, she would have had an easier awakening and her mate would not have suffered such a painful backlash. He will need to learn her gifts as well."

"Wait, what?" Aujuri looked at Lin Kai confused.

"Their bond is complete and flows full circle between the two of them," Trekiva explained. "Though formed by accident, it is a boon to have formed so early in their courtship."

"Indeed it has helped them significantly," Lin Kai agreed. "It also has hindered them. He will need to fully relearn how to hone his body to withstand her power as well as how to use it. She will need to start over completely. Her lessons in Balance have been a success but that is not the only form she knows. It is the one she best recognized while the rest slumbered, just waiting to be used, but she needed to learn to touch all of it. For an initial start, it was good, her control near flawless but now it needs to be redone.

"She also needs to learn how to be Vampyr, and that is no small task for one just waking into their birth rite. All Crystals have difficulty coping with the change when it first comes. Fortunately she has the benefit of the pseudo-blood crafted for her from her mate's blood. For her safety and the safety of all whom are tied to her, she must learn in isolation. She has far more power than she knows how to control and her instincts will drive to end the lives of the ones that caused her awakening to be so chaotic. The only place with strong enough shields and defenses in place for her to remain and learn are on Sancturis."

Trekiva's eyes closed as he let out a slow breath. Though said in an emotionless tone, he knew that Lin Kai meant well and was only giving him the facts as they stood. He agreed with much of what was said, Haruhi would need to relearn everything and it would be safest for her to do so isolated from the rest of her friends and family. He wasn't looking forward to explaining such to his family and his child's friends, but knew it needed to be done. Trekiva was also curious as to how this came about and, although he could learn from the shadows around the school, he wanted to speak to the one that suffered the worst. Unfortunately Kyoya was under heavy anesthetic to keep him from being in too much agony from the burns.

He sighed, and felt the tug of Takashi returning to consciousness. From what Mitsukuni had been able tell him when they arrived, he and Takashi had been walking through his campus and were on their way to lunch. Mitsukuni had been at Takashi's end of the school because his classes had been canceled for the day. He had caught his cousin just as he was heading to lunch and asked if they could eat together. Takashi had easily agreed, having missed spending time with Mitsukuni during the day while they were at school. They were near the cafeteria when Takashi suddenly collapsed out of the blue. Mitsukuni had panicked, not knowing what had caused his cousin to collapse and called for his driver to take them to the closest hospital. The doctors had listed it as being caused by stress and exhaustion, a lie told to the school, but he had been told it was because the connection to his bonded had been cut off. The loli-shota had almost gone into a rage at the news that someone had done such to Haruhi but when Trekiva had arrived and explained what had happened, he had nearly burst into tears.

With Takashi now awake, he had the difficult task of explaining to the young vampire what was to come. With a gentle nod towards his fellow Elipsion and Kayon. He knew the three of them would be able to figure out how best to help Haruhi while he tried to help Takashi come to terms with the large change that was thrust onto them all.

When Trekiva walked down the hall, Aujuri sighed and looked towards Kayon. The Arch-Mage had moved over to his youngest son and was quietly trying to help him cope with what he had been essentially ordered to do against his judgment. He felt for the Analyst, he really did, but also could understand why Trekiva did what he had. His granddaughter's power was flowing too chaotically and could have killed several people as if continued to flux dangerously in such a populated area. The fact the only minor injuries were reports, the media not catching sight or wind of a Void's mortal cast being destroyed in the rubble, was miraculous. He looked towards Lin Kai with a sigh.

"So," he started. "How do we go about this?"

"The only way we can," Lin Kia replied. "She needs the safety of Sancturis and the structured lessons of the only three whom carry more power than she does."

"She will have to learn from the two of you," Kayon interjected.

"Why?" Aujuri asked.

"I am needed here. The Mage's Council knows that I am going to announce the name of my Voice here in Japan, and I also need to establish how well the minor Councils are handling things. There is also the fact that her mate will need someone to teach him her level of power as well. I can do that while I am here while the two of you focus on her."

Aujuri was about to speak but Lin Kai cut him off. "Have Tai Zhou with you. He already volunteered to help hone the young one's body so that he can be more physically ready for the magic in her blood. Teach him what you can as well. With your Affinity being based in the Eternal Elements, you have all of the knowledge you need to give him near perfect control."

"Why do I have the feeling we are on a time limit?" Aujuri asked.

"Because you are," Kayon answered.

"Great. How long?"

"Her Union Ceremony is in eight days and Vyen arrives in five. He is looking forward to meeting the young one and has even offered one of the new hatchlings of his brood to help with their final test."

"Their ceremony is in eight days and they haven't taken the final trial of courtship?!" Aujuri nearly yelled.

Lin Kai smacked the back of the younger Elipsion's head before speaking. "We are in a place of healing, keep your voice low. As for their final trail, they have spent a great deal of time in a Temporal Vortex. By the feel of their time and bond, the Vortex has given them several years in the passed week of physical time."

The young blond rubbed the back of his head sheepishly. His brain blanked at that detail and he felt foolish for forgetting it. "So we have about four and a half days to help her get near perfect control over her blood and magic...this is going to be a challenge."

"One that will be handled the same as all others," Lin Kai added, finally looking away from the window towards his companion. "The Sphere around Sancturis will give her the needed time, and Kayon has one of his own in which to teach her betrothed, along with my brother."

"Okay. We teach her on Sancturis. Meaning it would be best to have her sent there while she is still under the seal and asleep. We can wake her, explain what is going on, and begin teaching her. All the while hoping that she doesn't inadvertently being to destroy her bond by thinking that her mate is dead when she doesn't feel the connection to him."

"It might be beneficial to have Narvu and Vladimir on hand as well."

"Narvu I can understand but why Vlad?"

"Vladimir has walked down the path of destroying his own bond due to fear and regret," Lin Kai answered. "He can prevent her from doing so before she even begins."

Aujuri nodded in understanding. He sighed and looked back at the sleeping girl. Things were going to be hectic for the next few days for her, and from what he had been told, she had just started getting used to the chaos that had surrounded her. Man, he sighed. Either the universe really has it out for her, or she has that many enemies. Which is weird. From what I can tell, she seems like someone who wouldn't have many people mad at her for much. Or at all...might as well get in touch with Narvu and Vlad. Transport from France and Italy aren't easy to arrange last minute.

Abraham sat in front of the man listed as Kyoya's father with a blank face. Yoshio had a similar expression on his face but inside, his head was reeling from the information he was given, as well as the ultimatum the man before him just laid out. He honestly had no idea how much his youngest had accomplished with only his mother to help him, or the fact the all of his children were technically half demon. Kyoya was a highly gifted user of one of the most uncontrollable powers that existed in the world of magic. Void was nigh impossible to bend to anyone's will and it usually warped the person using it. Kyoya had not only been able to attain exceptional control over it, but he had also managed to keep perfect sanity in doing so. Kyoya was also well on his way to being one of the very few to attain a high standing in their society at such a young age.

This man, Historian Abraham Anderson, his mind supplied, had given him a full list and dossier of his youngest's accomplishments. Needless to say, Yoshio was stunned but proud. He only wished he had known about it before his child had been injured to the degree he was. He was also stunned that the people Kyoya associated with were also part of this secondary society. In all of the time he had been around Yuzuru, he had never gotten the impression that the man was anything but human.

"You have two options," Abraham stated calmly. "Hand his care to the Archive willingly or we will take it by force. As it stands, you lack the means to care for his injuries and well being despite your extensive grasp of medical knowledge. You only know how to fix humans, not those of the Immortal races."

"He is still our brother," Yuuichi barked. "We can take care of him!"

"You cannot," Abraham stated bluntly. "As you do not know how to tend his injuries without making them worse. It is possible that he can remain such so long as your father makes the right choice."

Yuuichi looked at the closed off expression on his father's face and sighed in defeat. Yes it was a shock to hear that his baby brother could do so much that should be impossible, but that didn't diminish the fact Kyoya was just that, his baby brother. He honestly felt horrible that neither he or Akito {A/N: That is actually the name of Kyoya's second brother. I didn't realize that detail until I did a bit more research on the Ootori family, he is mentioned in the manga} had paid enough attention to the youngest member of their family. The fact the Fuyumi seemed to know about it before them stung but it was understandable. Even when he was a baby, she had a strong bond with Kyoya over the rest of them.

Yoshio looked at the folder in front of him filled with Kyoya's accomplishments in Arcane society and sighed. He knew the right choice was going to be a difficult one to deal with, but it was the only one that would ensure that his youngest was safe and would get the proper care he needed to heal from the blatant attack he had witnessed.

"He goes with you," Yoshio stated clearly, causing his sons to look at him in shock. "As you stated, I don't have the proper means to see to his care but that does not mean I won't try to gain them for the future."

"Smart choice," Abraham agreed.

"However, I ask that I can oversee the procedure that will help him begin to heal. He is still my son after all."

"You would have been able to watch regardless of your choice. We are not so cruel as to force a parent to wonder in fear at the well being of their child when the last they knew, their child was near comatose. The procedure will be done by Chi Yen Tsuji and a High Level Void."

"Chi Yen?" Akito asked. "Fuyumi's husband?"

Abraham nodded. "Yes. He is a Level 3 Holy Sorcerer and a Level 4 Light Mage. His specialization with Radiant Magic will help him draw the residual traces off of your son while the Void will begin to awaken his ties to its magic to heal him."

With a nod, Yoshio closed the folder and stood up. Yuuichi and Akito watched as their father held out a hand towards Abraham, who took it and gently shook in agreement before walking out. The four men slowly filed out of the small office towards the observation floor above the operating theater. Kyoya was laying in the middle of the room in a sterile setting with a dark form looming nearby. Abraham quietly intoned that the form was in fact the Void that would be helping and that Chi Yen was getting set to do his part. They only had to wait for him to finish dressing and arrive.

*~*0o0o0o0o0*~*

Chi Yen took in a deep breath before slowly letting it out. He had just arrived at White Lily to perform a specialized healing for his youngest brother-in-law. It was only moments ago that he had gotten a small note from the boy asking that should anything happen to him that would require medical attention, that it would be he himself that would do what was needed. He had been honestly shocked by the sudden request but accepted the task regardless. Chi Yen was not only a skilled magic user, he was an exceptional surgeon and doctor. With practiced ease, he got ready to do everything he could to help the youngest Ootori.

Fortunately he had been able to convince Fuyumi that everything was going to be okay. She had insisted on coming with him when she found out that her baby brother was taken into a hospital due to sever burns and Chi Yen couldn't deny her the right to see him. She had bawled when she saw him heavily bandaged and begged for him to be okay. If not for Kyoya's Void being near, she might have accidentally made his wounds worse. As it stood, he had third to fourth degree burns and he feared that her jostling him might cause the burns to rip open and make him bleed out before the Holy Sorcerer could even attempt to heal his battered body.

Chi Yen shook his head and finished getting in the sterilized scrubs and had the cleaned Rune Gloves on. He slowly stepped out into the theater where his patient was laying, already prepped, with the S Class Void demon nearby. With a sharp nod to the dark being, they set to work on healing the young half-demon. It was a relatively easy procedure to accomplish but Chi Yen had to be very careful since the being he was trying to mend was of a magic his normally could obliterate with ease. With the utmost care and skill, he let his Holy magic wrap around his body and infuse with the gloves allowing him quite literally grab the residual magic coating Kyoya's burns and begin taking it off. As the blue-gold liquid began to congeal on the burns, Chi Yen would wave his hands over the small pool, which caused the ooze to rise and latch onto the similar attunement and thus away from the body it was stuck to. Once the liquid magic was gone, the Void would move its hand over the area and fill the orifice with Void energy that would trigger Kyoya's into beginning his own natural healing process.

The procedure took roughly three hours to complete, mostly due to Chi Yen wanting to be completely sure that there was no traces of Radiant energy in any of Kyoya's injuries, as well as making sure none of his own was stopping the young Void from healing himself. Once he was certain that there was no Radiant, Holy or Light magic infused in Kyoya's body, he stepped back to let the Void take over completely. He knew the Void would wrap the boy in several layers of darkness to ensure that his demonic blood would have no interference in healing him. When the swirling Void Energy calmed, Kyoya was encased in a dark purple cocoon of pure Void Magic.

Chi Yen nodded to one of the doctors that had been waiting at the door, and they quickly came over and wheeled the bed into the recovery ward. It was only when Kyoya had been fully settled into the the ward, did Chi Yen relax slightly. He glanced towards the upper levels where the observatory booths were and sighed. He knew that Fuyumi had been watching but he was also fairly sure that Yoshio and her brothers had as well. He honestly hoped that the cold Ootori patriarch wouldn't do anything that would cause a bigger rift between him and his youngest children. With a soft shake of his head, he exited the room to wash up, the Void having teleported to wherever it was needed shortly after Kyoya had been rolled out.

*~*0o0o0o0o0*~*

Mori sat against the raised back of the hospital bed, his eyes staring blankly at his lap. Trekiva had arrived and had explained everything that had happened as best he could but it was clear that the only one with the full details as to why everything happened was Kyoya and he was either in surgery or just coming out of it. Trekiva had imparted that Haruhi would need to spend some time away from him and the others to relearn her magic, as well as learn how to be a vampire now that her blood was awake. Since it had been woken so violently, she would need isolation to help ease the transition, as well as making sure that she could develop the needed control. While she was gone, he was going to learn how to adapt his body so that when her power fluxed again, as it would while she was learning new magics, he would be less likely to collapse under the strain. Mori was also going to learn how to use her magic as well.

Mori had been shocked to learn that he would be going through the same lessons as his betrothed. The elder vampire had explained that since he and Haruhi had a bond as strong as they did, the young vampire could tap into her pool of magic and blend it to his own. Even before her awakening, he could have tapped into her power, hence why Trekiva had offered to teach the lessons to him and Mistukuni alongside Haruhi while in the Vortex. Now that her blood was awake, she had full access to all of her power but had next to no control of it anymore. She had to relearn all of it and only three people had the ability to teach her with any form of safety, Lin Kai, Aujuri and the Arch-Mage Kayon. Lin Kai and Aujuri had taken up the charge of teaching Haruhi, thus leaving Kayon to teach him. Trekiva assured him that none of them minded but it also meant that things had gotten all that much harder.

Mori took in a breath and tried to relax. There was still time before she was taken to the isolated environment, and he wanted to spend those last few moments next to her, silently letting her know that he was with her no matter what. Qurdox pulsed softly on his chest in agreement. The dragon having shown him what he knew of the situation, but it was evident that Kyoya had more answers.

He would question the Shadow King after he had recovered enough to answer his questions, but at the moment, Mori wanted to see Haruhi. To physically know that she was alive and well, even though unconscious. He had asked to see her and one of the doctors was currently getting a wheelchair for him. While he was waiting, Mori had asked to see the doctor that was present when he woke.

When Zarik had walked in, Mori had asked to be forgiven for his violent display towards the male. Zarik had simply waved it off and forgave him, stating that he understood why the young vampire had reacted the way he had. It was common for a bonded pair to be so protective of each other, especially when on felt the connection of the other cut off so abruptly. Zarik had left after reassuring the teen that he was forgiven.

When the wheelchair arrived, Mori climbed into it easily and let his father push him towards Haruhi's room. He gazed at his love through the window and sighed softly. Ranka was still in the room, his head laying next to one of her hands which was wrapped in his own. Akira gently wheeled his son into the room, causing Ranka's head to snap up. At seeing Mori in a wheel chair, the red-head's face filled with grief.

"I'm all right," Mori soothed softly. "Just exhausted."

Ranka's shoulders dropped in relief. "Thank the kami. Trekiva told me what happened to Haruhi and what will happen to her thanks to all of this. I don't want her to go...but I know she needs it. I can't imagine what would happen if it got out of hand again and, honestly, I don't want to find out. I don't want her to get hurt any worse than she has been, which has been happening far too much lately."

"You are not the only one who thinks such," Mori agreed. "I hope that the time away helps her regain what she has lost...and that she comes back stronger than before."

Ranka looked at the stoic teen and could see the lingering sorrow and worry in his eyes. The cross dresser rose and moved towards the young man that was soon to become his son and gently wrapped him in a warm hug. Mori hesitantly returned the embrace, feeling the unspoken words the elder male was trying to convey. Both were worried about Haruhi and her well being but neither had the option to do anything other than to support her the best they could and become better for it. Ranka gently released him and gave a watery smile before returning to Haruhi's side. Mori pushed the wheelchair closer to the other side and gently intertwined his fingers with hers.

Akira watched the moment calmly. He, too, was worried but knew that it was for the best. Trekiva gave every detail needed to explain what was going to happen with his eldest while with Kayon and Tai Zhou in the Arch-Mage's person Temporal Sphere. He wasn't at all happy that he wouldn't be able to see Takashi much between his lessons at university and the sessions with the elder two males, but he understood why. His son needed what they were offering to teach and they were by far the best to do so. Tai Zhou was a renowned weapon master and Kayon was the Arch-Mage, the highest and most powerful magic user in the world. He had heard stories of the possibility that a magic user bonded to a mage could learn their betrothed's power if the bond was strong enough, but most bonds didn't have the depth that his son and Haruhi had. Theirs was truly unique and he hoped that it wouldn't fall apart because of this. He stepped out of the room to allow the two most important men in the young woman's life to have their time with her. He needed to check on his youngest to make sure that Satoshi was doing well, as well as inform him and his wife about the change. Sayuki was going to be heartbroken but, if things went well enough, Haruhi would be back in time for her final trial with Takashi and their ceremony.

With a silent prayer to the kami, he shut the door and went towards the room holding his youngest. This was not a conversation that was going to be pleasant to deal with.
