In Between Breaths
Elena let out a big breath she didn't even realise she needed as she finally finished telling Kol everything, his mother's plan for him and his siblings and why it was important he didn't drink the champagne. Kol ran an exasperated hand through his hair, and turned his hard gaze to meet Elena's eyes.
'Why? Why are you telling me this? Why did you help? After everything my family has done to you?' Elena blushed and looked down, chewing on the full bottom lip.
'Honestly? I don't know. Parents are supposed to love you unconditionally, I don't agree with this. Even after Elijahs betrayal he doesn't deserve this, neither does Rebekah. She's only unkind to me because I was worried, she wouldn't follow through with our plan to kill Klaus, so I quite literally stabbed her in the back. I don't really know Finn, and what his motivations are but still...'
Elena looked up to meet his gaze, Kol hadn't looked away from her the whole time she'd been talking. He took a step closer to her until she backed up and hit gently off the kitchen wall in her house.
'And me?' The original asked, his hands curling into fists at his sides.
'You've paid attention to me. I can't remember the last time someone looked at me, and didn't immediately compare to me Katherine. Even when my friends see me, they expect me to agree to whatever they're doing, they never consider what I want and I never get to voice my option's and stand up for myself. It's exhausting.'
Elena couldn't seem to break the eye contact and tried unsuccessfully to supress the shiver that ran through her as Kol's eyes finally softened and he ran his fingers through her hair.
'Fair enough Elena, so what do you propose we do about my mothers plan?'
An hour later Caroline was tapping her toe against the floor, and Rebekah turned around to glower in her direction. Klaus Stared blankly at the floor, not very surprised at the Original witches behaviour.
'Sorry can we just run through this plan one last time?'
