bopdog111: It's time.

Ulrich362: True, the World Duel Carnival is upon us... almost.

bopdog111: Things here will be tough from here on out cause this is where the actual meat of Season 1 starts.

Ulrich362: Exactly, so let's see what happens. Enjoy the chapter.

Knock Knock Knock

Someone was knocking on Tori's door who was getting dressed after being up early.

"One second." she called as she finished getting dressed before opening the door.

It was Chara who had on a white business suit with a purple, and red striped tie, "Tori."

"Hi uncle Chara." she smiled letting him in.

"Did you sleep well?" Chara asked his niece with a smile walking in.

"Yeah, I did." Tori nodded. "I wanted to be well rested for today after all."

He nodded since today is the day for the World Duel Carnival. They haven't founded out if the pregnancy for Muffet was successful but Tori is hoping since the last bit of her father alive went into her mother in hopes of getting a second child to take care.

"Are the others waiting for me?"

"Downstairs." Chara answered with a nod, "Dr. Faker wants me to join him in supervising something important in the World Duel Carnival so I won't be with everyone."

"Oh... well ok." Tori nodded.

"You do got everyone else, and possibly your new little brother or sister." Chara assured with a smile.

"I know, hopefully whatever Dr. Faker wants you to see doesn't take too long so you can sit with mom and the others for a little bit." Tori mentioned hugging him before walking downstairs.

Chara walked down with her just to where Tommy has his head against Muffet's belly while she rubs his head with a smile.

"Hear anything Tommy?" she asked with a smile.

They looked to see her before Muffet smiled, "Tori take a look at the Kitchen Table."

Curious she turned to the table at that. It was a pregnancy test which when she examined it has a + on it. Seeing that Tori started tearing up before hugging her mom close.

"Looks like we're entering the tournament with some great news then?" Claire asked with a smile.

"Yes you, and Sora are getting a new cousin." Muffet answered with a smile.

The two of them smiled hearing that.

"Alright, well we're all registered so we should get going." Shark mentioned despite having a smile on his own face. "With all of us competing it should be a cinch for one of us to win the tournament."

"Just remember to have fun. Win or lose it doesn't matter." Chara smiled to them before turning to his son, "And Tommy your still grounded, but you can watch with us as long as you stay with your mother, or anyone else okay?"

Suddenly Sora paused. "We did all enter right? With everything that happened, I almost forgot."

"Knowing, Yuma I don't think he had entered yet." Tori admitted with a shrug.

Hearing that everyone turned to Yuma.

"Yuma... you did register for the World Duel Carnival right?" Rio asked him.

"Well I filled out some stuff, I haven't gotten an confirmation mail on it yet." Yuma answered.

Everyone stared at Yuma in disbelief hearing that.

"Yuma, the deadline is today! You won't be able to compete if you haven't registered!" Claire told him in annoyance.

Chara sighed face-palming, "Somehow that does not surprise me... Remind ya of anyone else mom?"

Frisk giggled slightly remembering Jaden, "Oh yes definitely..." She then sighed before suggesting to Chara, "Well maybe if you ask Dr. Faker now before it starts, you can manage to have Yuma get his Heart Piece."

"I don't know, he, and Heartland had been pretty busy with registration as of late, and I'm not sure if that guy is in the mood for a late applicant." Chara admitted to her.

"Still if Dr. Crowler gave Jaden a chance all those years at Duel Academy, why should Heartland refuse Yuma having a chance?" Chazz asked him with a shrug making a valid point.

"Well I'll see what I can do." Chara said hearing that, "But I can't promise anything since Heartland is not easy to deal with."

Sora shuddered. "I... I think he might let Yuma enter, if his son needs the Numbers."

That reminded everyone of what Kite said about why he was gathering the Number Cards.

"Still I doubt Dr. Faker will continue being civil if he finds out we know." Frisk mentioned before saying to them, "So until we figure everything out why Dr. Faker needs the Numbers for his younger son, keep this under tight lips in case Dr. Faker, or Heartland turns on us okay kids?"

They all nodded at that.

"The tournament starts in 2 hours. If we hurry, I should be able to convince Heartland to give Yuma a Heart Piece." Chara said to them, "I know where his office is."

Hearing that Yuma nodded. "Ok, I'll head over with you just to be safe and then meet up with you guys."

They all nodded before Luna takes Tommy's hand, "Stay close to me no matter what okay honey?"

"Ok mommy." Tommy nodded at that.

"Ok, well let's get going." Chara mentioned opening the front door.

With that they walked out.

Meanwhile...

Mr. Heartland was examining some holograms around with Kite beside him, and a orange haired man, and a purple haired woman with him before Mr. Heartland turned to Kite, "Now Kite, I don't need to remind you that this tournament is really important for both you, and Hart. If all goes well we will acquire the Numbers quicker."

"I'm well aware of that Heartland." Kite told him.

"You should probably go ahead, and start preparing." Mr. Heartland suggested to him, "You know what to do."

Kite glared at him before walking off.

"Sir, what about us?" the purple-haired woman inquired calmly.

"Right now Dextra, you, and Nistro's job is to manage Security here at the World Duel Carnival. Do not interfere in duels until absolutely necessary in case anyone tries to cheat through the system." Mr. Heartland answered.

"Understood." the man, Nistro, answered with a grin. "It's a shame we won't get to duel ourselves though but what can you do?"

"I'll be the host of course. After all, if no-one can keep the appearance to be trustworthy, and make things interesting then it would get boring." Mr. Heartland answered with a grin, "And of course, I will depend on you both for Security whenever I need it."

Nistro and Dextra both nodded only for Dextra to suddenly frown.

"What about the Princeton family and all of their friends?" she inquired.

"Right now their none of our concern. They know nothing about our plans, and I intend to keep it that way." Mr. Heartland answered before saying, "In case they start to know too much deal with them swiftly."

They nodded before the elevator door opened where a voice asked, "Mr. Heartland?"

Hearing that they turned to the elevator. It was Chara who walked forward, "Sorry to bother you, but I have something important I need to ask."

"Oh of course Chara Princeton." Mr. Heartland spat with a sneer at him, "Didn't I tell you before NOT to interrupt me when I'm in the middle of a important discussion?"

"I said, I was sorry..." Chara pointed out trailing off.

Mr. Heartland apparently didn't liked Chara despite his smarts, and looked down on him due to age, and experience. Mr. Heartland is technically Chara's boss when Dr. Faker isn't around, and he really disliked the young man even though he saved the world several times from the Dark Signers, and Illaster while his mother rescued everyone from the Shadow Riders, the Light of Destruction, Yubel, Nightshroud, and Damien.

Mr. Heartland only tch shaking his head, "Whatever the case, what is it that you need?"

"It's short notice, but I have someone who wants to apply for the World Duel Carnival..." Chara explained pointing over his shoulder as if mentioning said someone was outside.

"I thought I told you before: ZERO TOLERANCE policy. I don't got time to waste on those kinds of people." Mr. Heartland scoffed to him while waving his hand off, "Tell him to attend next year."

"There's really no reason why we shouldn't. He deserved as much of a chance here then the rest of all of us." Chara pointed out to him, "He registered a bit late that's all..."

He turned to Dextra, and Nistro, "You two agree right?"

"Rules are rules." Dextra told him. "He can enter next..."

She suddenly paused noticing Yuma's pendant.

"Mr. Heartland sir, maybe we could make an exception. He technically isn't late quite yet."

"What are you talking about Dextra?" Mr. Heartland asked her turning to her.

"The deadline is in one hour so technically he can still enter the tournament." she answered before her eyes directed his attention to the pendant Yuma was wearing

Mr. Heartland seeing it widen his eyes before narrowing, 'That pendant...' Soon making up his mind he sighed saying to Chara, "Alright fine Chara you win again this time. But next time learn to listen when you tell you how things run when Dr. Faker's not around." He walked passed Chara to the elevator as it closed allowing Mr. Heartland to meet Yuma outside.

Now alone with the two Chara turned his gaze to Nistro, and Dextra before he said to them, "Sorry you two had to see that again. Apparently he's still hasn't gotten over me working here with us yet."

"He's probably afraid you'll take his job." Nistro smirked. "You've been a great help since Dr. Faker hired you after all."

"Being Mayor of Heartland City really isn't my intention... I would appreciate it if that type of Promotion comes to me though." Chara admitted to him, "So anyway, I had heard that you two are in charge of Security?"

"That's right, just to make sure everything goes well during the tournament." Dextra nodded before pausing. "Chara, do you mind if I ask you something?"

"Of course, Dextra. What's on your mind?" Chara asked her with a smile.

"Nothing work related, it's just... never mind. I'll ask after the World Duel Carnival." she mentioned with a small blush.

Chara looked confused but nodded, "Well okay, I wish you, and Nistro luck. You both have my number in case anything goes wrong for me to fix."

"Right, see you around." Nistro grinned walking off as Dextra looked hesitant before following him leaving Chara alone.

Chara at that walked where the other employees are, "Alright everyone, right now our most important part of our job is here. We are to supervise, or alert security, and keep an eye on every electronic here at Heartland City for the World Duel Carnival. Let us make this tournament the best Heartland City has to witness!"

"Sir!" the employees all nodded hearing that

Meanwhile at another part of the city...

Shark, Rio, Sora, and Claire were walking together while Yuma, and Chara were getting his Heart Piece talking to each other before a voice said behind them, "Well well, Shark. It's been a while."

"That voice." he frowned turning to see a scarred young man. "Quattro."

They looked over seeing the scarred young man was a yellow, and black haired man wearing a medevil suit having a smirk, "I can see your sister has recovered. Glad to see she's back on her feet."

Hearing that Sora and Shark moved between him and Rio.

"What do you want?" Shark questioned.

"Oh hey, I didn't come here to be hostile. I just came to make sure you are applying for the World Duel Carnival. For you see, I am applying to." Quattro lifts up a crimson shard on a gold rim heart frame as he said this.

Seeing it Shark frowned before showing a similar shard. "I already applied."

"Well glad to know, otherwise you wouldn't had a chance to get back at me all those years ago." Quattro smirked placing his piece away.

"Now I remember you, what did you do back then?" Claire questioned angrily. "Reggie isn't a cheater!"

"Oh come now, this isn't a discussion of yours little girl, leave this for the big boys to talk." Quattro said to her with a smirk.

"I wouldn't underestimate her Quattro." Shark told him.

"Well regardless, she has as much to know am I right?" Quattro shrugged with closed eyes, and a smirk, "Well haven't you found it odd? Found it odd, that I left my Deck there, and it collapsed right before our big match?"

Shark grunted at this remembering full well. At that match Shark had seen Quattro's Deck when it collapsed, and it resulted in his disqualification, and forbidden from entering national tournaments again.

That was when Quattro revealed the truth, "Well the truth is Shark... I'm the one that set that up."

"What?" he questioned in shock.

"Then... you got him disqualified on purpose?" Sora asked in disbelief.

"Yeah, you heard right, I set that up as in I let my Deck be exposed for him to be disqualified." Quattro shrugged with a smirk, "Not a bad plan huh? First his sister was in the hospital, then he attends the tournament to help her, and I snatch his chances of that away from him." He laughed a bit from that.

Claire's eyes widened as her SOUL appeared glowing yellow. "You'll pay for that!"

"Oh whoa there little girl, save that fury for the tournament ahead." Quattro smirked to her stepping back playfully acting frightened, "Besides, Sharky, I hope that gets you motivated enough for you to face me seriously cause this time their will be nothing stopping me from crushing you fair, and square."

With a final laugh he turned walking off as something on his hand glowed before he vanished with his laugh echoing.

"Reginald, are you alright?" Rio asked him.

Shark had his fists clench almost enough to draw blood as the three feel anger radiating out of him with him grinding his teeth growling while shaking in anger from all the memories of back then flooding his mind.

"It's ok, Rio's better now and... we won't let him cheat again." Sora mentioned trying to reassure him.

Feeling Rio's hand on his shoulder he looks where she shakes his head silently telling him to let Claire calm him down. Shark took a slow breath at that before nodding just as Tori, and Cathy walked over to them.

"Is everything alight you guys?" Tori asked.

"No." Rio answered the two, "We just encountered Quattro."

Tori nodded in understanding while Cathy looked confused.

"Wouldn't that be a good thing? He seems like such a good person." Cathy mentioned.

"He purposely got Shark disqualified." Sora explained before telling the two what Quattro told them.

Tori looked stunned hearing that as Cathy frowned.

"So... should we leave Quattro for Shark to get his revenge?" she inquired.

"No. Revenge is never the answer." Sora answered with a shake of his head.

"Bad choice of words." Cathy clarified. "I meant... settle things. Have a proper duel this time."

"That's his choice." Rio said at that, "Did Yuma get his Heart Piece?"

"I don't know, but hopefully he did." Tori mentioned. "The tournament's about to start."

"We should probably join the others." Sora suggested.

They nodded walking off as Tori's Duel Disk got a message.

"Good luck big sis, I'm cheering for you."

Tori smiled as they walked encountering everyone including Yuma.

"You actually made it Yuma?" Shark asked with a smirk.

"Well Chara managed to convince that old guy, to let me have a Heart Piece." Yuma answered.

They nodded hearing that.

"Okay everyone since Chara won't be joining us, supervision will be with me, the other Chara, Aqua, Betty, Amber, Dexter, Muffet, and Luna." Asriel begins to tell them, "We will all stick together, and travel through this carnival together."

They all nodded at that.

"In that case we'll need to find a lot of opponent's so we can all qualify for the finals." Cathy pointed out.

Just then a honking sounded before a large hologram of Mr Heartland now having on a yellow suit that has a big pink heart, and a huge top hat with a pink heart on it as well along with holding a staff appeared calling, "Welcome duelists to Heartland City! Welcome to the World Duel Carnival! Now then, here are the rules:" Everyone paid attention as Mr. Heartland explained, "The field of play is the entire city, and the first phase of this tournament will last three days." A map of Heartland City along with a small gauge showing three days appeared beside him as he mentioned, "During these three days, if you are challenged to a duel, you must accept that challenge. How do you accept a challenge?" He grinned before showing the same gem in holograph form above him, "Simple: You will wager your heart piece. Lost your heart piece, and you lose your spot here." More gems formed on the holograph piece, "But if you win, you win a heart piece!" The gems filled forming a complete heart, "Assemble all five pieces and you'll have won a spot in the tournament finals! If you have further questions about the rules, well, that's just too bad!" He grinned to everyone, "Because I'm sure like our viewers at home, I can't wait another second to get started! So let the duels begin!"

The hologram disburst showing the logo of the World Duel Carnival. The moment the hologram burst Sora's eyes widened. "Yuma look out!"

He turned just as a ball covered in cards hit him in the face.

"Ah! What the?" Yuma asked dizzy from that.

"Yuma, are you ok?" Cathy asked as they turned to see who kicked the ball.

"Alright whoever my ball hits is my first opponent." said guy kicked the ball up where he takes it in his hands showing a dark, and light red haired teen wearing some sports clothes with a yellow horizontal line, and a red badge on his left torso area with a grin.

Yuma glared at him. "Fine, if you want a duel you've got one!"

"What's with the cards on your ball though?" Asriel asked seeing it.

"Like it? It's a memento of mine." the boy grinned holding the ball, "Name's Striker by the way."

Caswell hearing that pauses, "Striker... where have I heard that name before...?"

"You know him Caswell?" Sora asked curiously.

"I think so." Caswell answered.

Hearing that he nodded turning to the duel.

"DUEL!"

Yuma's Hand: 3/Field: One Set Monster, Two Set Cards

Striker 1st Turn:

"That all? My turn!" Striker drew before calling, "And I activate U.A. Hyper Stadium!"

At that everyone appeared in a large stadium.

"With this card, I can take a U.A. or F.A. from my Deck to my hand, or take U.A. Stadium instead." Striker grinned adding a card.

"What the, what kind of deck is that?" Yuma questioned.

"U.A. it stands for Ultra Athletes, Yuma." Asriel answered him before explaining, "Unlike their Synchro Counterparts, the F.A., the U.A. focus over using their opponent's turn by summoning monsters during that time for benefits, and do disruption."

"Great." Yuma frowned hearing that.

"Then I summon U.A. Libero Spiker!" Striker added as a black, and silver armored warrior as a sports player appeared.

Yuma's eyes widened seeing the monster.

"Next up, I place 2 cards down, and end my turn." Striker ended his turn with a grin.

The two Spellcasters rose up readying.

"Now I use Gagaga Magician's ability to lower his level to three." Yuma grinned.

Gagaga Magician: (LV: 4 - 1 = 3)

"Now, I'll Overlay my two monsters."

At that the two Magicians glowed flying in the Overlay Network as it exploded while materializing the monster.

"It's time to face the music, with Melomelody the Brass Djinn!" Yuma called as his monster appeared.

"Plus since I used Gagaga Magician and Gagaga Girl to summon Melomelody your monster's attack points drop to zero."

The monster aimed at the sports monster which Striker grinned, "I don't think so!"

"Huh?" Yuma asked hearing that.

"I activate Libero Spiker's special ability! During either of our turns, I can return a Level 5 or lower U.A. from my hand back to my Deck, in order to return Spiker to my hand." After shuffling a card he takes Spiker's card adding it back before Gagaga Girl's effect can reach it, "After that, I can then summon another U.A. from my Deck as long as it's not the same as the one I shuffled."

Yuma's eyes widened seeing that. After looking his Deck he grinned, "Oh let's go with this one. U.A. Perfect Ace!"

A cybernetic winged sports player rose up.

Yuma's eyes widened. "Fine, In that case I'll play the spell Blustering Winds to give Melomelody an extra 1000 attack points."

Blustering Winds

Normal Spell Card

Target 1 face-up monster you control; it gains 1000 ATK and DEF until your next Standby Phase.

Melomelody the Brass Djinn: (ATK: 1400 + 1000 = 2400)

"That won't help ya either." Striker grinned discarding a card, "By sending a card from my hand to the graveyard during your turn, Perfect Ace cancels out your card, and destroys it!"

Melomelody the Brass Djinn: (ATK: 2400 - 1000 = 1400)

Yuma looked dumbfounded hearing that. "I... end my turn."

Just then Caswell cried, "Now I remember!"

Hearing that everyone turned to him. "Huh?"

"Striker Crossit, the little brother of famed Soccor Familyline, Crossit, and had two older brothers, Dempsey and Donovan. But in the end, despite his high talents, he had little trust in his teammates, trying to win on his own, and lost badly being called a bad player but when his teammates went to help him he calls them nothing but slackers. After a headed argument with his brothers, he quit Soccer declaring he can prove them wrong." Caswell explained to them.

"That sounds kind of familiar." Claire admitted.

"Yeah, it's like dad used to be with his brothers." Sora agreed.

"Well I did 'prove them wrong' but in a different way." Chazz said crossing his arms.

"That's true, and in a good way." Claire smiled at her dad.

"Well, brothers or no brothers Yuma's in big trouble." Tori pointed out.

Yuma's Hand: 2/Field: Melomelody the Brass Djinn (Attack Position/ORU: 2), Two Set Cards

Striker 2nd Turn:

"And it's gonna accelerate further here!" Striker drew looking.

Yuma looked at the field nervously.

"A new field?" Yuma asked nervously.

"And with it, I can summon back Libero Spiker." Striker summons back Spiker who appeared.

Libero Spiker: (Attack Position)

"Next with the Normal Summoning of a U.A. I take a U.A. to my hand from Stadium." Striker added taking a card to his hand before adding, "After that, I return Perfect Ace in my hand to summon a new card. Come U.A. Playmaker!"

A silver, and orange glowing football armored sports player rose up readying.

(Attack Position)

U.A. Playmaker

EARTH

Level 8

ATK: 2600

DEF: 2000

You can Special Summon this card (from your hand) by returning 1 "U.A." monster you control to the hand, except "U.A. Playmaker". You can only Special Summon "U.A. Playmaker" once per turn this way. When another "U.A." monster you control declares an attack: You can have this card lose exactly 800 ATK, and if you do, your attacking monster gains 800 ATK.

"And when a U.A. is Special Summoned, Stadium's effect activates giving all my current U.A.'s 500 attack points."

Playmaker: (ATK: 2600 + 500 = 3100)

Libero Spiker: (ATK: 1800 + 500 = 2300)

Yuma's eyes just widened in complete disbelief seeing that.

"Well Striker's still in soccer isn't the only thing he's good at..." Chara D. admitted seeing this.

"Assuming whatever Yuma has face-down can prevent that." Tori said remembering a certain card Yuma used on Tommy.

"And now Libero Spiker attack his Xyz!" Striker called as Libero Spiker charged in at the Xyz.

"I play Half Unbreak!" Yuma cried nervously. "This turn Melomelody can't be destroyed and I only take half the damage."

Half Unbreak

Normal Trap Card

Target 1 monster on the field; this turn, that monster cannot be destroyed by battle, also any battle damage you take from attacks involving that monster is halved.

Libero Striker struck the barrier sending a small shockwave to Yuma. (Yuma: 3550/Hand: 2)

Striker frowned before calling, "Playmaker your turn!" Playmaker charged forward attacking.

The attack hit but again Melomelody wasn't destroyed.

(Yuma: 2700/Hand: 2)

'He's lucky...' Striker looked at one of his set cards, 'U.A. Man of the Match would've allowed me to summon all the U.A.s I have if his monster was destroyed. He survived this turn but not the next. Plus, my other set card is Mirror Force which can destroy all his monsters if he attacks. Go ahead, and fight back I'm ready!'

He ends his turn following that short monolouge.

Striker's Hand: 2/Field: U.A. Stadium (Field Zone), U.A. Playmaker (Attack Position/ATK: 3100), U.A. Libero Spiker (Attack Position/ATK: 2300), Two Set Cards

Yuma 3rd Turn:

Yuma drew his card nervously. "Astral… any ideas?"

Astral at this takes a look over. Soon getting an idea Astral asked him, "Yuma what's your set card?"

Astral saw it was Double or Nothing.

After giving some thought Astral gets an idea, "First off, use Legacy of the Duelist in your hand."

"Next use the two spells in your hand. Raigeki, and Psychic Barrier." Astral added.

Yuma nodded. "I play the spell Raigeki, and I'll add Psychic Barrier to that."

Raigeki

Normal Spell Card

Destroy all monsters your opponent controls.

Psychic Barrier

Quick-Play Spell Card

Activate as a Chain 2 or higher. Your opponent cannot activate cards or effects during the Battle Phase this turn, also this card's activation, and effect cannot be negated if you control a face-up Xyz Monster, also for every Spell/Trap your opponent currently controls; that Xyz Monster gains 500 ATK.

Striker widen his eyes as his monster's shattered.

Melomelody: (ATK: 1400 + (500 * 3) = 2900)

"Now attack with Melomelody!" Astral called.

"Melomelody attack Striker's life points directly!" Yuma called.

The Xyz charged in as Striker braced before Astral called, "Now stop the attack with Legacy of the Duelist, and it doesn't matter what card it destroys!"

Yuma blinked before his eyes widened and he grinned. "I use Legacy of the Duelist's effect to stop my attack and destroy your field spell." The Xyz monster stopped while U.A. Stadium which Striker blinked, "What's the point of that?"

"The point, is my facedown card Double or Nothing!" Yuma called. "When one of my attacks is negated I can use this card to not only let it attack again but it's attack points double!"

Double or Nothing!

Quick-Play Spell Card

When a monster's attack is negated: Target that monster; it can make a second attack during this Battle Phase, and if it does, its ATK is doubled during the Damage Step only.

Melomelody the Brass Djinn: (ATK: 2900 * 2 = 5800)

"Attack Striker's life points directly!"

Shocked Striker watched as the attack hit.
