Chap 5 I don't own anything

What happened last time... After some time, Kagome seemed to stop crying so Inuyasha got up to leave, but Kagome was holding on to Inuyasha's jacket "No don't go" Kagome said in her sleep. Inuyasha, not wanting her to be in distress, sat on the floor with his arm still on the bed. It was not a comfy night for him but at least Kagome would sleep better… he hoped.

Kagome woke up the next morning feeling safe and almost happy, like her Shippo would come in any moment wanting breakfast. Some part of her was hoping and wishing that she would see her door open or hear his footsteps, his voice. She opened her eyes and went straight to the door as if it would magically open. As if her sleepy brain woke up, she realised three things - one Shippo would not be coming into her room ever again and two she realised that it was in fact Shippo's room she fell asleep in and the last thing she realised was that she saw two dog ears and a mop of white/silver hair on the side of her bed. Kagome then remembered that Inuyasha stayed at her house but how he ended up in Shippo's room and with her she didn't know. She went to get up and start making breakfast when she noticed that she had a tight grip on Inuyasha's jacket. Kagome's face became red but she had a small hint of a smile on her face.

Kagome got up and brought the blanket and placed it on top of Inuyasha, and went to the kitchen to find some food to thank her friend.

Inuyasha woke up to the smell of bacon and eggs cooking. His face went into confusion. Kikyo never cooked and he lived in a big house with no neighbors nearby so why did he smell bacon and eggs and why was his back so sore. Inuyasha then opened his eyes to see that he was not in his room but a young boy's room. He then remembered that he was staying over at Kagome's house and that she was crying in her sleep and he went into the room to see what he could do and she held onto his jacket so tight that he just stayed and he must have fallen asleep at some point.

Getting up and stretching his sore muscles, he walked towards the kitchen to find Kagome going around the kitchen like a whirl wind. He narrowed his eyes while looking at her. If it was not for his keen sense of smell, he would say that she had some demon blood in her with the speed that she was going. It brought a small smile to his face. He saw that the table was set up for two people for breakfast so he sat down and looked to Kagome.

"So, what is for breakfast fair maiden?" he asked.

Kagome gave a small jump to the sound bearing in her own little world while cooking and turned her head towards the sound of Inuyasha's voice "Well I'm having bacon and eggs with some juice I don't know what you are having though" she said with slight humor in her voice. She then turned back to the pan to make sure she didn't burn anything.

Inuyasha knew she was joking around so he played along by placing his head on the table and turning his head again towards her and giving the best 'puppy' look he could muster and a small whine towards her as well "Does your knight get nothing for saving a fair maiden?"

Kagome turned toward him again and saw the 'look' he was giving her. Inuyasha then continued "I did give you one great night's sleep, right?" he said with a wink

Before Kagome could respond there was a knock at the door. Thinking it was Sango she went over to the door with a big smile on her face. However, once she opened the door her smile went away and turned into a frown.

Hojo was there in what he might think was a nice suit. Kagome went to close the door but Hojo pushed himself in.

"Get out Hojo" she said trying to sound intimidating but she doubted that she did

"Not until we talk Kagome" Hojo said while trying to push himself more in the house to give him more control.

"We have nothing to talk about!" Kagome yelled

Hojo had a look of almost sadness "Look Kagome I know you're hurting now and so am I. I lost him too, if you just calm down, we..."

"Calm down!? YOU LOST!" she screamed "YOU LOST NOTHING. SHIPPO WAS NEVER YOURS. YOU WERE NEVER THERE FOR HIM NEVER ACKNOWLEDGED HIM NOT ONCE. AND NOW THAT... AND NOW THAT he..." Kagome started to cry and was about to say more when Inuyasha came behind her and placed his arm over her shoulder. Hojo, seeing this unknown thing in the house, a dark look came across his face.

"Who is this Kagome?" he said, trying to speak in a calm voice. Hojo looked at this thing and saw that his clothing was wrinkled and his hair was a little all over the place and so was Kagome's. "Oh, I see how it is Kagome, you won't open your legs for me but you will for this... this... thing" he said while gesturing towards Inuyasha.

Kagome sucked in a breath and mustered up some more courage "What I do in MY HOUSE is NONE of YOUR concern, and HIS company is FAR better than YOURS, NOW LEAVE"

"You heard her… LEAVE" Inuyasha spat and forced Hojo out of the house and slammed the door in his face

"This is not over Kagome and when I come back that thing better not be there!" Hojo said through the door.

They both heard his footsteps leave the area. Inuyasha turned to Kagome to see how she was doing, Kagome looked at Inuyasha's face and was going to apologise for what Hojo said and thank him for assisting her before they both smelt the burnt food and the fire alarm went off. Kagome ran back into the kitchen to see that the food had in fact burnt and her plans for a nice breakfast with her new friend gone as she put the food and the pan under water.

"Well, there goes breakfast" she said

Inuyasha came over and leaned against the kitchen sink "Too bad that the breakfast was not for me as well, but lucky I know a great place that serves the best pancakes and coffee in the known world"

Kagome looked towards him "Pancakes?" Inuyasha nodded "With maple syrup ?" again he nodded, Kagome licked her lips "and coffee?" in a hopeful voice.

"But" He said while straightening up and trying to get the wrinkles out of his clothes "you did say that you were only making breakfast for you right? Or did I miss-here? "

Kagome looked at Inuyasha in shock and horror, but she could see a smile on his face, "I think you misheard" she said

They looked at each other and they both laughed "All right fair maiden shall we go get pancakes?" he asked

Kagome nodded, she quickly went to get changed into different clothes and they both left the apartment after telling Sango that they were going out for a while.
