Hey everyone! I know it's been ages since I updated this fic. I've gotten way too caught up in my other WIP's but I've had a few comments on this one recently so I thought I would write something. It ended up being quite short but hopefully you enjoy it I'm not going to say I will start updating this fic more regularly cause there's no guarantee's but it def isn't abandoned.

I've also tried to make Cormac a bit more of a well-rounded character in this fic. I know he comes across as a bit of a dick in the movies and is practically non-existent in the books, but I wanted to give him some other aspects. He will still be full of himself etc but there will be more to him than that.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy!

Chapter 2

Harry had trouble sleeping that night. Well, to be honest he'd had trouble sleeping every night since the final battle and the death of Remus and Sirius. But it seemed to be worse tonight, probably the unfamiliar environment wasn't helping. He reminded himself that he was lucky to be anywhere that wasn't the Dursleys. He honestly wouldn't have been surprised if Dumbledore had shipped him back to the Dursleys after everything that had happened.

The room was beautiful and the bed oh so comfortable but still Harry found himself laying there staring at the canopy above his bed for hours. He contemplated getting up and writing Hermione a letter but although his brain was refusing to shut down so he could sleep he didn't think he had it in him to write a letter at the moment. Besides, he'd only seen Hermione that afternoon, he should probably wait until he had some more news to tell her. He even thought about going for a walk around the manor, perhaps finding the library Cormac had showed him earlier, but he didn't feel quite comfortable enough yet to just go walking around at night. The McLaggen's might not appreciate that. So alas that left just laying in bed and trying to turn his brain off. But once again it refused to listen, and his thoughts drifted to his hosts.

The McLaggen's had seemed nice enough. Reuben and Emily were warm and welcoming and though Cormac seemed a bit full of himself he had also treated Harry kindly. He'd even got Harry a pair of his pyjamas to wear to bed, knowing now that Harry only had Dudley's hand me downs to wear. Cormac hadn't even bothered to resize them, leaving them loose and baggy and oh so comphy for Harry to wear.

For want of anything better to do, Harry crept from his bed and went to his trunk, pulling out his potion's textbook. He climbed back into bed and with a softly muttered lumos opened the book and began to read.

He woke up the next morning to a soft "Mr Harry Potter, sir" being muttered next to his head. He blearily blinked his eyes open to find a house elf looking at him anxiously, his textbook lying beside him. The sound of a door opening reached his ears and Harry looked around to find Cormac had just entered the room. The older teen looked as immaculate as ever and Harry was very conscious of the drool on his chin and the sleep in his eyes.

Cormac looked at him completely non-plussed.

"You were still sleeping?" He asked, confusion marring his tone.

"Yeah" Harry croaked, clearing his throat as he flushed in embarrassment. "Sorry, it took me a while to get to sleep last night, so I overslept this morning."

Cormac's eyebrows furrowed in concern. "You didn't sleep well? Why not? Was it the bed? I assure you it's the best that money can buy but I can talk to mother and father and organise a new bed for you?"

Harry just stared at Cormac for a moment, he just offered to buy him a whole new bed because he didn't sleep well one night, who the hell was this guy!?

"No! No, you don't have to get me another bed, this one is the most comfortable thing I have ever slept on" Harry said honestly. He had to bite back the smile at the smug look that crossed Cormac's face.

"I've just been having trouble sleeping… since, well, since the final battle" Harry explained slowly. "I think just getting used to a new place made it a little more difficult, that's all."

Understanding flashed across Cormac's face.

"I'll talk to mother, see if we can organise a mind healer for you to speak to, perhaps some dreamless sleep potion in the meantime" Cormac said thoughtfully, laying out a clean outfit on the bed for Harry to change into. "Get dressed, it's time for breakfast."

Harry stood flabbergasted for a moment. Within 3 seconds Cormac had come up with several ways to actually help him. Harry had told him a problem he was having, and Cormac had offered possible solutions, acting like it was no big deal. And he supposed to someone like Cormac it probably wasn't a big deal. He didn't know what to do with that, so he didn't do anything. He waited until Cormac had left the room and quickly changed into the fresh clothes that had been left out for him. When he left his room a few minutes later, he found Cormac leaning against the wall waiting for him.

He took in the casual way that Cormac eyed him, before nodding in approval.

"Blue suits you" Cormac said, as he turned and lead the way down to the dining room and Harry felt himself blush at the honest compliment.

As they entered the dining room Harry felt his mouth water at the sight of one end of the table ladened down with food.

Rueben and Emily smiled warmly as he took his seat beside Cormac.

"How did you sleep, Harry?" Reuben asked as he watched Harry start to dish up some food onto his plate.

Harry opened his mouth, prepared to lie and exclaim over how wonderfully he'd slept. However, before he could get a word out Cormac spoke up.

"He slept terribly. Apparently, he hasn't been sleeping well since the final battle. I think we should look into getting him a mind healer as well as dreamless sleep to assist him in getting proper rest."

Emily looked at Harry worriedly.

"Have you not been sleeping well, Harry?" she asked, eyes tracing over his face in concern.

"I… It's not that bad" Harry said, but it ended up coming out as more of a question then a statement.

"Would you like to speak to a mind healer?" Emily asked kindly. "They are specially trained witches or wizards that will listen to you and help you process how you're feeling" she explained at seeing Harry's confused expression.

Ah like a muggle therapist, Harry thought. That was actually a really good idea.

He nodded awkwardly and Emily's face softened.

"I will organise it for you. I will also speak to a healer about dreamless sleep potion for you."

Harry nodded gratefully, he glanced at Cormac before focusing back on his food.

"He also needs new clothes." Cormac spoke up, oblivious to Harry's spluttering.

"I-It's fine, I don't need anything!" Harry squawked. But Cormac was paying him no mind.

"He does. He only has his cousins' old clothes to wear, and they are about five sizes too big, and look terrible."

Harry felt his whole face heat up in embarrassment. He wasn't used to anyone he knew from Hogwarts seeing him in his muggle clothes, well aside from the Weasleys and Hermione, but they were used to it.

"Wonderful" Rueben said with a flick of his eyes to his wife, "I need to head to the Alley today, we can all go."

Cormac looked very pleased at that, and Harry was so thankful that they hadn't questioned him further about his clothes that he didn't put up any more of a fight.

Harry collapsed onto his bed exhausted when they finally returned to McLaggen manor that afternoon. It had been a long but productive day. He had a pile of brand new clothes sitting on his bed, so many, he hardly knew what to do with them all. Formal wear and casual wear, summer clothes and winter clothes, pyjamas, slippers, scarves and so many pairs of underwear he had lost count. His face was still red from having Cormac helping him choose those.

The older teen had insisted on helping him choose everything, rightly guessing that Harry would probably come back with two t shirts and one pair of trousers if left to his own devices.

He hummed softly as he started putting his things away, a house elf appearing shortly after to help him.

It had been nice shopping with the McLaggens. They were powerful and well respected enough that no one risked harassing them, Cormac spending the whole time they were shopping glaring at anyone who even looked at Harry sideways. The wizarding world was still in awe of his defeat of Voldemort, so well-wishers and nay-sayers alike were keen to get to him, but they all kept their distance. It had actually been sorta nice not having to worry about anything and getting his shopping done like a normal person. He had even managed to forget about Remus and Sirius for a while. His heart twinged painfully, so he forcefully pushed the thought away, concentrating on his new clothes instead. He ran his hands over a deep green coat before he slipped it into the wardrobe.

They had even stopped at St Mungo's organising an appointment with a mind healer for the following week and picking up a supply of dreamless sleep potion. Harry didn't think it was possible to get things done so quickly, but he was beginning to understand that the McLaggens were the type of people who got what they wanted.

A soft pop had him glancing around until he spotted a house elf bearing a tray ladened with food.

"Mindy is bringing you your dinner, Master Harry" the house elf squeaked. "Master Reuben thought you may prefer a quiet evening."

Harry blinked in surprise at the thoughtful consideration, he didn't particularly feel up to more company at the moment.

"Ah, just leave it on the bed, thank you." Harry said as he finished putting away the last of his things.

He ate slowly before pulling on his very own pair of perfectly fitting navy-blue cotton pyjamas. Taking the allocated amount of dreamless sleep potion for the evening, he settled down to sleep.
