Dodoria and Zarbon sat at a small table for two eating their meals, Zarbon looked enchanting with his long strait hair loose and a plain gold circlet around his forehead, wearing a loose white poets shirt with black trousers. The candle light on the table flickered gently and reflected in his golden eyes.
Dodoria tucked into his steak and vegetables trying not to stare as the green man daintily ate his pasta salad. Dodoria felt very out of his depth, for years he'd dreamed of having Zarbon alone to himself in a romantic setting like this, but now it was actually happening he couldn't think of anything to say or do. Zarbon didn't seem to notice, just thankful to be out of the ship. Finally, as he took a sip of the wine Zarbon had ordered for them, he decided he really needed to know what the other thought of him.
He nervously cleared his throat making the other look at him with those gorgeous glowing eyes; ''So, urm… I was wondering, if you'd thought about what I said yet?''
Zarbon seemed to hesitate as he chewed his mouthful. Dodoria suddenly felt very stupid. Why in hells bells would this perfect entity want to be with him, Zarbon was way out of his league, heck, he was in a league all of his own. Plus seeing him out of uniform made him realise he was even more attractive. 'Baka!' scolded Dodoria.
''I'll be honest with you…'' started Zarbon, ''…I don't want you to think I haven't thought about it, I have, lots. But, it's just so unexpected. You and me? We're complete opposites on every scale. It's not that I don't have any feelings for you, but I'm not sure if they're strong enough for me to act on…''
Dodoria nodded as Zarbon absent mindedly poked at the pasta in his bowl. ''Well, they say opposites attract…'' '-come on! You've come this far, no point in backing down now!' he told himself. ''How about a sort of trial? Let me try and woo you, and if after a few weeks you're still not sure or don't want to continue we'll stop- no strings attached and we'll go right back to how we were before?''
He watched pained as Zarbon slowly popped another forkful of pasta in his mouth and chewed slowly before swallowing Finally, he nodded ''Ok, that sounds like a plan…'' he said smiling gently.
After the restaurant they were walking back to the hotel when Dodoria started feeling a little braver, and with a quick sideways glance at the other man Dodoria slipped his large pink hand in Zarbons. Zarbon looked over at him with a perfectly waxed eyebrow raised. ''Well if we're giving this a shot I'm damn well going to be holding your hand'' Dodoria summarised. Zarbon looked forwards again to disguise his smile.
They walked hand in hand back to the hotel and up to their room, upon entering Dodorias gaze fell onto the large bed and he broke into a slight sweat, Zarbon noticed the grip on his hand tightening slightly. He looked at Dodoria then followed his gaze to the bed ''I don't put out on the first date, you know'' he clarified with his eyes narrowing slightly.
Dodoria pulled his hand back quickly and laughed awkwardly, blushing bright red ''That's… that's not what I was thinking! Honestly!''
Zarbon rolled his eyes and disappeared into the bathroom. Dodoria got undressed and put on a loose pair of shorts to sleep in before climbing into the bed. Zarbon came out of the bathroom soon after wearing dark purple pants with his usual circlet back on, his hair again pulled back into a loose braid. He climbed in next to Dodoria and snuggled down, he'd just closed his eyes when Dodoria spoke; ''So, doesn't your date get a good night kiss?''
Zarbons body went rigid, finally he turned over so he was facing Dodoria, a slight blue blush had spread across his high cheek bones. ''This is so weird….'' He mumbled to the man who had been his comrade for decades.
Dodoria took note that the other man hadn't said no, so slowly he lent over until they were just centimetres apart, Zarbon still didn't show any resistance so he closed the gap and placed a light kiss on those delicate green lips. Dodoria felt giddy as he pulled away and laid back down on the bed turning the lamp off, unable to keep the massive smile off his face. In the darkness Zarbon gently touched his lips with his finger tips, deep in thought.
…
The next day Zarbon decided to go off to meditate, he saw Dodoria scoff at the idea so then decided he'd have to come too to try it.
''I don't need that airy-fairy zing-zen rubbish to fight, I've got brute strength!'' he gloated flexing his muscles.
''And a thick head too'' mumbled Zarbon. It didn't take much persuading from Zarbon for Dodoria to suddenly find himself sat under a crystal embellished tree scowling. Zarbon folded his legs and rested his hands facing upwards on his knees; ''Now, copy me and relax. Start by clearing your mind of everything….'' He said closing his eyes.
Dodoria sat on the grass like a neon spiky Buddha with his eyes closed. After about 10 minutes of being bored he cracked open an eye lid; Zarbon was floating about a foot off the ground, stray strands of hair were floating around his head. Even like this there was something regal and stately about the ex-prince. Dodoria opened both eyes to properly take in the view before him. After a few minutes Zarbon spoke without even bothering to open his eyes.
''You want to ask me something. What is it?''
Dodoria thought for a bit, not wishing to piss off the other, however as the seconds passed he decided to just ask the question he'd wanted too since Zarbon had first come into service; ''Why did you abandon your people and planet just to serve Frieza?''
Zarbons facial expression never changed as he answered levelly ''Because I'm a power hungry whore.''
…
After the failed meditating session, Zarbon decided Dodoria should learn to swim properly. Dodoria didn't even bother to argue- besides it was as if there was a large part of Zarbon which liked to be busy, and a busy Zarbon was a Zarbon that wasn't bitching about something. So Dodoria spent the next few hours trying to follow instructions, but overall, still failing abysmally. ''I don't think my race are designed for swimming'' he concluded as his arms and legs- relatively stubby in proportion to his body- failed to move him through the water and keep him afloat.
…
The next couple of days played out the same, although Dodoria whinged and whined so much whilst Zarbon was trying to medicate that he started leaving him in the hotel room. On the evening of their last day they were both relaxing in the hot spring they'd visited on their first day.
''I must admit,'' mused Zarbon ''that these past few days have been really nice. I've enjoyed spending time with you.''
Dodoria reclined against the side of the spring as he watched the green beauty ''And I you Z, although I never doubted I would. Heck, just getting to look at your pristine face is all I'd need anyway.'' Zarbon blushed blue making Dodoria smile; ''For someone who gets so many compliments you don't half blush easy.''
Zarbon shrugged and looked down ''I'm used to people saying things to me to get what they want. But with you… it's genuine. You're… honest.''
Dodoria nodded as he let go of the side and attempted to swim across the spring, he'd got about 1/4th of the way when he had to use his ki to bail him out of sinking. He heard a light laugh to the side of him; ''Here, like me'' said Zarbon swimming in front of Dodoria. He made Dodoria hold on to his wrists and hooked his ankles around his legs, and began to swim with Dodoria pressed against him.
Dodoria let Zarbon move against him, feeling the way his arms and legs moved through the water. Zarbon dived down and slowly twirled round and round, Dodoria had to admit to himself that there was something calming and appealing about swimming. Finally Zarbon swam him over to the edge to the spring and let him go. Dodoria sat on an underwater rocky ledge with the hot water up to his chest whist Zarbon floated effortlessly next to him.
Dodoria looked up at the quickly darkening sky ''Shouldn't we be getting back? You said it gets cold when it gets dark.''
Zarbon peered up at the sky ''In a bit, I want you to see something first.''
Within 10 minutes the sky was such a dark purple it was almost black, Dodoria watched in wonder as the sky became totally filled with stars and galaxies, sparkling in the clear sky like precious jewels. Then, rays of light in every colour imaginable started almost dancing across the sky.
''What the…'' trailed off Dodoria in awe.
''Aurora Polaris –when the electrons in the air reach the planets thin upper atmosphere they collide with oxygen molecules and nitrogen, making these light shows'' smiled Zarbon watching the beautiful colours dance though the sky.
