Here's the entrance exam! Enjoy...
I don't own BNHA just my OCs.
Keiko looked at the people all around her as she stretched in her gym clothes. Having started her absorption again straight after she left the building, her body was now buzzing with vibrations which were making her feel very hot and restless. She quickly unzipped her dark green hoodie, bundled it up and shoved it into her backpack on the floor in front of her.
"OUT OF MY WAY, EXTRAS!" A fierce boy with spikey blonde hair charged past a crowd of talking people, shoving a plain looking boy to the side. He returned the favour by making some sarcastic comment which successfully infuriated the hot-headed blonde, causing him to twist around, body shaking with rage, ready to beat the crap out of him. Well this is definitely going to be interesting if we've got him storming around the place... The sarcastic boy laughed loudly at him, winning him a firm punch in the centre of his chest, knocking him back a step. As he caught his breath, the angry boy turned around and stormed back toward the entrance of the arena.
There was a nervous hum in the air as everyone waited anxiously for the exam to start. Keiko sensed confusion around her as people stared at the entrance, wondering where the examiner was to tell them how the exam would start.
"...AND BEGIN!" screamed the announcer from earlier.
Most of the group stood there completely confused as the more attentive applicants stormed full speed into the arena. Keiko was prepared and launched herself through the entrance using the stored energy within her legs.
The arena was a city scape, but before she could even get her bearings, she heard a massive explosion. She looked to her right to see the angry boy fly past her, blasting small explosions from his hands to keep his momentum going. He grinned wildly as he pulled his arm back ready to attack. The boy landed directly next to a large three-point robot and detonated his fist as he punched it. The robot flew into two one-point robots positioned twenty metres further down the street. Keiko was blown away; the exam had started no more than ten seconds ago and this boy already had 5 points. This guy is insane. She felt a memory wriggle in her subconscious but dismissed it as she focused on advancing into the arena.
She ran to the left rather than following him down the central road, quickly hearing the explosions fade behind her. After running no more than 30 metres, a one-pointer swung out from an alleyway immediately next to Keiko, she dodged its attack and quickly countered by jumping up punching the robot in the head. After the altercation, many more robots had appeared in the main road. Keiko was still marginally further into the course compared to the rest of the inattentive group and decided now would be the best time to get as many points as she could. She started charging towards the other robots, the vibrations from the arena causing power to return into her almost as quickly as she released it. Unlike her initial defensive manoeuvre, Keiko opted for her more agile, mid-range shock-wave blasts to take them down, in an effort to take advantage of her quick start.
She quickly took down the 5 robots, by weaving through them and blasting their side using whichever of her hands was closest. Great, that's 10 points so far. She looked back and saw 8 students frantically running up the road looking for points; she couldn't help flashing a smug grin knowing she had just obliterated the street in the time it took them to even catch up with her. She continued running using her what was left of her stored energy, but the use of her shock-waves meant she didn't have much, so she did her best to charge up as she ran.
With a crowd of people now hot on her heels, Keiko did her best to stay ahead, preparing herself for the big three-point robot looming in front of her. She prepared to jump but before she could, a long tape hit the robot, instantly followed by a boy with black hair, who proceeded to wrap up the robot and try to knock him down. However, the boy seemed to lack the physical strength to knock over the opponent as he quickly slung some tape out of his elbow and moved on. Keiko decided to blast the robot to knock it over, just in case it hadn't counted as being entirely immobilised already.
Keiko continued destroying robots with ease as she ran further into the city-scape, counting the points in her head as she went. Nice one! That's about 26 points now. She slipped round into a clear alleyway and caught her breath. This is exhausting though... She stood panting for a few moments, and rubbed at the soreness in her forearms. Determined not to spend too much time recovering, Keiko ran out from the alley into a park area that seemed to be filled with around 20 robots and a handful of ambitious students. But before she had even reached the slightly frosty grass, someone had knocked her down and grabbed her hand. She took a moment to catch up with what had just happened and looked confused at the boy. She recognised him as the sarcastic boy that had been goading the short-tempered boy before the exam. As quickly as he had knocked her down, he snickered and ran away towards the impending carnage.
Keiko stood up, not injured from the sudden takedown, but very baffled at why on earth he had even done it. Although weirdly, the boy hadn't got more than a few metres before he collapsed to the floor, holding into his head as he cried in pain. She swore and ran over to him as quickly as she could.
"What's wrong? What's happening to you?" Keiko said in a panic as she dragged his head onto her lap to stop him hitting it into the floor.
"Your, quirk...What is this?! What have you done to me?!" he yelled at he her between cries of pain. "I can feel...everything..." he clawed at his head and let out another cry. Keiko fought back tears as she looked at the writhing boy in front of her, struggling to comprehend what was happening to him. She breathed out heavily as she tried to calm herself and find out what the problem was. It was then that she noticed that the boy seemed to be collecting vibrations within his body. What? This isn't right, how is this even happening? I need to get these vibrations out of his body before he passes out.
Keiko concentrated and absorbed the vibrations until it felt like he had reached a normal resting level.
"Hey, are you ok now? Is it still hurting? What did you do when you touched my hand?" She blurted out her torrent of questions as she looked into the boys' blue eyes, glistening with tears of pain; her head pounded with stress and worry.
"I copied your quirk...what the hell is it? Urgh." he moved to sit up but Keiko held his head firmly on her lap "What are you doing?" He blurted out.
"If I let go of you, then the vibrations will come back... I'm absorbing them right now." she stated before quickly continuing "Can you get rid of the quirks you copy, or replace them maybe?"
"I can only use one at a time, so if we can find someone else for me to copy, I'll be alright" As he spoke, she could see that he felt defeated, it was only then that she remembered where they were. There can't be more than a minute left.
"There's no time." She looked up from the boy and looked around to see a group of robots had begun to surround around them. She glanced back down at the floppy-haired blonde boy, still holding his head in between her hands. "Sorry for messing up your score, hopefully this will help you out... brace yourself.". Keiko had managed to absorb up to her limit whilst helping the boy and was determined to use it before the exam was over. She closed her eyes and focused on where the boy's body was lying, and emitted an earth-shaking shockwave all around her, making sure to avoid him. The blast smashed the 7 robots that had surrounded them, along with basically any glass in a 20-metre radius.
She took a breath and felt like collapsing onto the floor, but continued to persevere in absorbing the vibrations the boy was still taking into his body. Her eyes stayed closed as the boy looked up at her in shock.
"IT'S ALL OVER!" the familiar voice of the presenter announced the end of the exam and Keiko sighed as she opened her eyes.
"So how long do I need to keep you here? I hope this quirk of yours has a time limit." she let out a small, tired laugh and he smiled weakly back at her with anxious eyes. The realisation that their future now hung in the balance weighing down their spirits.
After a few minutes of awkward small talk, Keiko could finally let go of the boy who had introduced himself as Neito Monoma. He smiled at her as they both stood up. Keiko had reached her limit again, so she was sweating and trembling slightly. Urgh! This is so frustrating, why is it so difficult to deal with this damn quirk. The boy wiped the sides of his face where her hands had been with the sleeves of his jacket, slightly noticing her discomfort as he did. Keiko felt a pang of embarrassment and wiped her hands on the front of her t-shirt as she bit onto the inside if her cheek; she took a deep breath to try and reduce the shaking through her body.
"Well thanks for your help Hayashi" he said as he brushed his fingers through his damp, tousled hair "I won't be copying your quirk again...".
"No problem Monoma, hopefully I'll see you in U.A." Keiko said, forcing a small smile in a desperate attempt to be optimistic.
"Yeah, maybe." He headed towards the exit and Keiko followed behind him, looking around at the destroyed area as she went. Wrecked robots lay discarded in the middle of the main road they walked down. Keiko noticed some of the ones she had defeated earlier; they didn't appear very damaged, since it was most likely the electrics and internal wiring were worst affected by her shock-wave attacks. She flexed her fingers as they walked, feeling the pressure become more unbearable. She began pushing the vibrations through her open hands into the air behind her as she walked, being careful not to release too much at once and draw Monoma's attention. Slowly she felt her body relax and cool down as the pair walked in silence along the road, with Monoma a few metres ahead.
After walking for five minutes, they reached the entrance of the arena. There weren't many people around since they had waited for Monoma's copy quirk to wear off before heading back. I guess a lot of people left straight away...Although, some people probably managed to get much further into the arena. She looked up the main road that the angry blonde boy had charged into at the very beginning of the exam and saw his path of epic destruction. All that remained of the masses of robots that had been positioned there was a collection of metal limbs and scraps, scattered mercilessly across street. She spotted a few small fires simmering on the larger parts of robot debris, where the boy's explosions had ignited the batteries.
Keiko was looking at a completely destroyed shop front when she spotted someone coming around the corner of the intersection closest to her. Straight away she realised that it was the boy who had single-handedly destroyed this entire street of robots. He was walking confidently through the destruction, grinning from ear to ear whilst his muscular arms were producing a trail of mist in the cool air around him.
Keiko felt her temperature rise again and resumed flexing her fingers, tearing her eyes away from him, she quickly turned and headed towards the open doorway. She walked over to her bag which was now a few metres away from where she had originally left it, covered in dust and dirty footprints. She picked it up and brushed off most of the dirt with her hands before throwing onto her right shoulder.
As the adrenaline from the exam began to wear off, Keiko started to feel the damage done to her body from using her quirk. Her arms were throbbing all the way up to her shoulder, and her legs felt like they were going to give way any second. I need to get out of here...
