During the school day, there was a time in the afternoon cafeteria during, everybody's lunch, Charles Wallace was already sitting at his table with his best friend, Joey. The two of them were sitting next to each other, they were eating their lunch together and were laughing and talking. Charles could see Alice out of the corner of his eye. She had her food tray in her hands. It seemed that or what it looked like to him, was that Alice looked like as if she was trying to find somewhere to sit. To get her attention, Charles started waving at her. He knew she was trying to find a place to eat. Once Alice had turned her head, she laid her eyes on him. His eyes and her eyes met. Alice was uncomfortable with his look! She walked off from him in confusion. Charles Wallace's eyes were following where Alice was going. He could see that Alice was sitting with her boyfriend, Matthew and his friends. Charles Wallace wondered about this .
"Why isn't she talking to me?."!he thought to himself.
