Insane Black Rock Shooter vs Dead Master
(Part 1)
Jealously: The state of feeling or showing an envious resentment to someone because of their achievement, possessions, or perceived advantage. it is an emotion that is commonly felt, whether it be big or small...and it can often drive many to do horrendous things just to get their way.
One of the giant skulls rammed themselves into Mato.
Ruby dodged, fired and evaded swiftly. Using her semblance of speed, Ruby caught Mato before she hit the ground. The sight of Ruby carrying Mato added more oil to Yomi's fiery flames of insanity.
More skeletons emerged from the ground with sword, shields, axes, clubs and armour.
Mato aimed her rock cannon while Ruby zoomed into the crowd of skeletons with her scythe. Ruby assured that Mato didn't need to worry about hitting her so she fired as many blue flaming rocks as she can which each exploded.
Ruby swiftly flew everywhere, seeing where each of Mato's attacks were going to avoid it while also eliminating any skeleton that got in her way. She was used to being surrounded, in fact, fighting these skeletons were a lot easier than fighting Grimm. The skeletons were slow and their movements were predictable.
Bones flew everywhere. Skeletons were beginning to disappear faster than they were emerging.
Soon, the pair found an opening and took it. Ruby placed a hand on Mato's shoulder and they turned into a flying ball of petals, heading straight for Yomi.
Out of rage, Yomi sent her two giant floating skulls to attack. They were too slow. Ruby lured them so that they would crash into the ground instead.
The roses came closer and closer.
A scythe was swung blindly at the roses but it hit nothing.
Ruby dropped Mato in front of Yomi while Ruby went behind Yomi and held her back. Mato stood in front of Yomi and placed her hands on Yomi's shoulders.
"YOMI! PLEASE STOP!"
Black looked up. She said nothing and continued her attack.
She threw her lance upward.
More chains appeared. They wrapped around the lance. The gun turrets in the lance opened and rapidly fired purple bullets in all directions.
However, none of the bullets broke the chains or left the tornado.
More chains appeared and wrapped around Black's body. They twisted, stretched and squeezed her body. Dead lifted a finger and commanded the chains to lift her into the air. Dead then lowered her finger causing the chains to smash Black back down to bottom of the tornado.
Up, down, up down, Dead repeated this over and over as if she was playing with her prey. Blood splattered everywhere. The sound of bones breaking was heard each time Black was smashed into the ground by Dead's chains.
After a mercilessly onslaught of smashing her opponent, Dead stopped.
Black was no longer moving and was as limp as a rag doll.
The green horned devil lifted a finger. The chains lifted Black's body up the tornado of chains. To say that Black was a bloody broken mess would be a huge understatement. She was lifted higher and higher up the tornado, closer to Dead Master yet Black did not move a muscle.
Finally, the chains lifted Black up to the top, right below Dead Master's feet which was standing on a series of chains tangled together.
Dead looked down on her opponent, almost as if disappointed.
Without a second thought, Dead Master lifted her scythe to slice off her head.
She leaned against wall, arms crossed and eyes closed. She kept her distance.
"Black?"
She lifted her head.
"Are you ok?"
She nodded.
"Are you sure?"
Her other-self looked at her with concern which Black did not understand.
"Black, hear me out, please don't get me wrong, I am really grateful for everything you've done for me. You're always there to protect me and make me feel safe... but please...look after yourself. I don't like it when you risk your life for me without a care for yours. It...it scares me."
Black's eyes flew open which almost jump-scared Dead.
With all her might, Black swung her arm to throw her lance.
The chains tried to hold Black's arm back. She gritted her teeth, her veins were almost bursting out of her skin as Black placed all her strength into her arm and threw her lance up towards Dead despite the chains holding her back.
The two were close already, so she didn't have time to dodge. The lance impaled Dead through the side of her hip. To add onto that, the gun turrets on the lance opened and fired bullets in all directions. The bullets flew everywhere. Dead raised her scythe and summoned a wall of chains to block but not before several bullets pierced several areas of Dead's body parts.
The chains holding Black let go of her but as she fell, Dead regained her balance and sent more chains to attack her. Chains emerged from walls of the tornado to attack her as well.
Black had little options.
Black swung her black sword.
CLANG!
The chains refused to break as they wrapped around Black once more. She was in a one-sided situation. This was Dead's territory after all. She couldn't slice the chains and she couldn't cling onto the wall of the tornado either. Her only options was to fall or get caught by the chains.
Once again, the chains twisted and squeezed Black's body in ways that would've killed a regular human. Black remained alive.
Dead gritted her teeth in frustration. She wasn't going to make the same mistake twice but the chains weren't going to do the job. Not to mention, her giant flying skulls were busy guarding Yomi.
She made a choice. The chains brought Black back up the tornado.
Now they were at equal height with Black still entangled and immobilised by the chains. However, this time Dead jumped back onto another set of tangled chains to create distance between the two.
They stopped for it was a stalemate: Black would attack if Dead got too close but there was no way for Dead to finish her opponent from a distance.
Dead Master recalled how she always lost to Black when it came to close combat. Then again, with Yomi's emotions in such a frenzy, she was now incredibly more powerful than before. This was evident in how her chains were no longer able to be broken by Black's blade. But on the other hand, the chains weren't strong enough to hold Black back from swinging her weapon.
Dead contemplated her next move.
"Have you..."
Dead flinched when she heard Black's voice in her mind.
"Get out of my head." Dead ordered.
"Have you ever lived for yourself?"
The green haired woman stared. Black usually wasn't the type to create conversations, especially in the middle of a battle.
"Everything I do is for my other self. Surely you must understand that, Black."
"I do...but have you ever made a choice on your own."
"My choice is to live by her. That's all to it."
"...What if your other self doesn't want that?"
The question was met with silence.
Her glasses fell. She buried herself under her blanket.
Dead stood by her, staring. A strange feeling infected Dead's mind. She stook a step forward and placed a hand on her other self. Every tear that escaped her eyes pierced Dead like an arrow.
"Yomi, I-"
"LEAVE ME ALONE!"
For the first time in forever, Dead recoiled in fear.
"PLEASE! JUST LEAVE ME ALONE! STOP FOLLOWING ME AROUND EVERYWHERE! ITS CREEPY!"
"But I can't-"
"I DON'T NEED YOU! Just...leave me alone..."
Inside the tornado, the two natural born killers stared at each other.
"I don't know." Dead finally answered.
"..." Black silently stared back.
With that, Dead made her decision. The spider web of chains all around them began vibrating. Gripping hard onto her scythe, she sprinted on her chains, straight towards her chained up opponent. Before, Dead always lost in close combat but it was different now. She had become stronger while Black remained exactly the same.
The chains around Black tightened and pulled her back. But with immense power, Black pulled against the chains and threw her lance. The large lance detached from her body and flew towards Dead.
Dead's body instinctively choose to evade. Chains followed her back. She grasped her scythe with an iron grip. She kept sprinting, ignoring the lance that flew past her.
With chains holding her arms back, Black's movements were limited. She raised her black sword defensively.
The scythe was brought down upon her.
Their weapons collided which was followed by a large CRACK!
For the first time in her life, Black witnessed her sword shattered into pieces.
The sharp point of the scythe dug deep into Black's shoulder, blood splattered everywhere.
Besides gritting her teeth, Black's expression remained unchanged. Black pulled back and smashed her head against Dead Master's head, a blow that cause damage for both of them.
Dead staggered back. The chains that were wrapped around Black loosened.
She dropped her broken sword handle. With the lift of her finger, her giant lance, which was still connected to her body via chain, turned around and threw itself at Dead's back. At the same time, Black jumped at Dead, clenching her fist.
Wary of the incoming lance, Dead summoned a chain to wrap around her wrist and pull her upwards to evade both incoming attacks.
The lance reattached itself to its owner. Black grabbed onto a hanging chain, then raised her lance and unleashed another hellfire of bullets up towards Dead.
The chains remained indestructible however, multiple bullets pierced Dead and, green blood was seen splattering everywhere this time.
Spinning her scythe, Dead summoned many chains to wrap around her into a large ball that shield her from the bullets. The large ball of chains then fell towards Black.
Black let go of the chain she was hanging onto and allowed herself to fall but she kept firing at the ball of chains.
The duo fell down the tornado for a few seconds before Black's back suddenly landed on a web of chains, stopping her fall.
Before Black could raised her lance to impale Dead, the ball of chains crashed on top of her. Black coughed blood upon the forceful landing.
The ball of chains dispersed, revealing Dead Master who stood on top of her opponent. With one merciless swing, Dead opened a huge cut on Black's stomach with her scythe.
The chains below retreated, allowing the pair to, once again, fall further down the tornado. This time, Dead's scythe had made it's way deep into Black's wounds.
Black attempted to push the scythe back but due to the position they were falling in, gravity pushed against her.
As they fell, Dead pushed her weapon deeper and deeper into Black's shoulder, as purple blood splattered all over the walls of the chain tornado.
Finally, right before they hit the bottom, Dead forcefully pulled out her scythe before smashing Black's head towards the ground. At the same time, chains wrapped around her and stopped her from falling any further.
Black landed on the very bottom of the tornado with a loud boom! The crash landing was so loud, it would've easily been mistaken as a plane crash.
Breathing heavily, Dead hanged with the chains above the crash site, waiting for the smoke from the crash landing to clear.
But before the smoke even disappeared, Black suddenly jumped through the smoke and straight towards her.
Dead made the mistake of stopping too close to where Black crash landed and as a result, Black managed to cover the distance within a single jump.
The deep wound in her shoulder was still healing and she was covered in her own purple blood.
They both looked at each other in the eye before Black delivered a hard upper cut punch to Dead's stomach. Continuing her combo, Black swung her lance horizontally down on Dead's head.
A loud CLANG was heard which was shortly followed by the sound of something shattering.
At that moment, time seemed to go slower as Black stared.
Her giant insane lance had collided with Dead Master's horns...yet it was the lance that shattered into pieces.
Dead's large glowing green eyes glared up at Black before she pushed her horns deep into Black's chest. Black tried to retreat but the chains held her in place.
With her sharp horns, Dead opened another deep cut on Black.
Without a shred of hesitation, Dead pulled her horns out and spun her scythe before swinging it at Black's neck.
Mato stared at her eyes. She saw a void of madness and obsession.
This was not the Yomi she knew. The Yomi she knew was kind-hearted and nothing like the person she was looking at right now.
"YOMI! PLEASE STOP!" Mato pleaded, "Why are you doing this?"
"Why?" Yomi titled her head as if Mato was the crazy one, "What do you mean? I'm fixing things."
Ruby's aura screamed at her to run away as far as possible as she held back the obsessed girl.
"Yomi please. Wh-" Mato then spotted something in Yomi's eyes. It was so faint and buried under Yomi's madness that she almost missed it. But she saw: a hint or a spark of...red.
A familiar red that brought back nothing but trauma.
"YOMI LISTEN!" She pleaded again, "SNAP OUT OF IT! YOU'RE BEING MANIPULATED!"
However her words were like a distant echo in Yomi's ears.
Getting desperate, Ruby also tried to speak to her, "Yomi you're hurting her! She's your best friend right?"
As if something had snapped in Yomi's emotions, her head turned back to glare at Ruby with wide eyes. Ruby's body shivered from instincts.
The ground cracked beneath them and skeleton arms reached out and grabbed the two girls by the legs.
Before they could pull Ruby down, she let go of Yomi and spun around her scythe using her speed semblance. She sliced every skeleton around her while also hitting Yomi in the check.
Mato jumped back and fired a shot out of her cannon, destroying the ground beneath her along with the skeletons however the direct explosions sent her flying back.
By the time she recovered, a horde of skeletons had appeared between Ruby and Mato with Yomi right between them.
Ruby attempted to regroup with Mato using her semblance but one of the giant skull heads flew past her, almost hitting her.
In front of Ruby now stood Yomi with her two giant skulls by her side, surrounded by a large horde of the undead.
"She will be," Yomi spoke, answering Ruby's question, "...once you're gone."
"RUBY!" Mato cried. She sliced a skeleton in half then destroyed a dozen more with her cannon. However the skeletons continued to block Mato from reaching Ruby. Even worse, the skeletons seemed to grow in strength as well as each one felt a lot more difficult to defeat.
Mato swung her sword again at a skeleton's shield and to her horror, the shield remained unbroken.
"Watch behind!" Stella warned from Mato's mind.
Too late. A skeleton's axe dug deep into Mato's shoulder causing Mato to cry out in pain. Without giving her break, another sword impaled her while an arrow hit her in the leg.
Back to where Ruby and Yomi were.
"I don't want to hurt you Yomi!"
"Then die."
The two scythe users charged at each other. Yomi swung her sword but Ruby was faster.
A rose petal appeared in front of Yomi's eyes, blocking her vision for a split second and suddenly, Ruby was gone.
She heard a gun cocking its next bullet. The red hooded girl hesitated giving the giant skull a chance to fly down on her. She evaded.
A skeleton ran at her from the left and swung its weapon. Ruby quickly shot it in the head and changed it back to its melee form before grabbing another skeleton with her scythe and smashing it on three other attacking skeletons.
The second giant skull threw itself on Ruby but it instead smashed onto the ground, covered in rose petals.
Yomi swung her weapon but only swung at air as Ruby flew past her and swung the back of crescent rose at Yomi's legs, making her trip and fall. While Yomi had increased strength, Ruby still had speed and experience.
But Yomi did have numbers. The first giant skull returned and attacked Ruby. She jumped back to avoid, only to be surrounded by 10 to 20 skeletons. Almost instantly, she rapidly started spinning and firing her gun everywhere, hitting every skeleton precisely in the head. However, for some of them, it wasn't enough to bring them down as half of the skeletons with a bullet hole in the head remained standing and they all attacked.
Using her quick speed, Ruby weaved around them and even got some of the skeletons to hit each other.
Distracted by the skeletons and the giant skull heads, Ruby flinched when she felt Yomi's scythe come down on her from above.
With no other choice, Ruby focused her aura into her scythe and arms and swung it back at Yomi.
The two scythe clashed with loud KLANG!
It ended in a draw where both users jumped back. She could feel the power of Yomi's power vibrate from her crescent rose all through her body. Skeletons circled the red hooded girl. The two giant skulls returned to their master's side.
Ruby looked at her weapon. A huge crack had formed where Yomi's scythe hit it.
"Yomi!" Ruby called, "Mato still sees you as-"
"Shut up. Don't talk to me."
One of the giant skulls threw itself towards the huntress again.
With a dash of rose petals, Ruby swiftly evaded and went straight towards Yomi. The horned girl swung her weapon at the roses with eyes of delusions and lunacy. However several rose petals flew in front of her eyes, so she ended up hitting nothing but air again.
Yomi suddenly felt a leg kick her knee.
"Sorry." Ruby knew Yomi wasn't going to let go of her scythe so she shot a bullet into her hand to forcefully make her let go.
She then swiftly grabbed Yomi's weapon with her red scythe and threw it into the air before wrapping her arms around Yomi's neck, restraining her.
"Yomi..." Ruby pleaded one last time, "Don't let yourself be controlled! We're all your friends!"
"Let go of me! I only need MATO!"
Yomi's dug her nails into Ruby's arms, drawing blood. Wincing in pain, she let go. Yomi's scythe then levitated and returned back to her. She spun around, swinging her weapon right at Ruby's neck. Rose petals flew everywhere. The red hooded girl jumped over the scythe and over Yomi.
Before the horned girl could turn around, Ruby pulled back her scythe and will all her might and aura, smashed the sharp-less side of crescent rose into Yomi's back neck. If words couldn't reach her, Ruby intended to at least knock her out.
However, instead of seeing her eyes roll back, Ruby only saw Yomi's two glaring eyes of rage.
It was then, her aura sensed something behind her. She looked back and gasped. A giant skull was right there in front of her eyes.
She had assumed that the skull heads wouldn't attack if she was near their master. She was quickly proven wrong as one of the giant flying skulls rammed themselves into both Yomi and Ruby.
The two girls were sent flying. Yomi's body skidded harshly across the concrete while Ruby smashed into a nearby wall.
"RUBY! YOMI!" Mato cried.
Seconds flew past. The first to move was the skeleton master. Yomi rose from the ground like a zombie and stretched her neck as if nothing had happened. Her giant skulls returned to her side, awaiting their next orders.
Ruby on the other hand wasn't so lucky. After the collision, the hooded girl had not move a muscle as she laid in the debris.
"RUBY!" Mato cried out.
Out of mixed but strong emotions, Mato pulled out the bone dagger out of her shoulder, ignoring the pain as much as she could. She pushed forward. Destroying, cutting and smashing all enhanced skeletons that got in her way.
With blue blood dripping from all her body, Mato faced Yomi who looked back at her with a twisted smile.
"What's wrong Mato? You look mad?"
"H-how could you..Ruby she-"
The twisted smile quickly transformed at the mentioning of Ruby's name, "Ruby this! Ruby that! Stop saying her name! Stop thinking about her! I'M YOUR ONLY BEST FRIEND!"
The dark light of red in her eyes was becoming more and more visible.
"Yomi I..." Mato's hand shook as she gripped her black sword.
"Oh I get it," Yomi interrupted, her face lit up as if she had finally discovered the answer to all her questions, "you...you're thinking about the others right?"
"Huh?"
"I see. I see. It makes sense. You only did hang out with those other people from other worlds, ever since we got here. Yes that makes more sense...in that case...I'll have to get rid of everyone else right?"
"NOOO!"
Mato bolted towards Yomi, ready to swing her sword.
"Mato wait!" Stella tried to warn however Mato did not listen.
With tears and blood flowing down her face, Mato leaped towards Yomi with her sword.
But before Mato's sword reached its target, she was interrupted.
A figure came from the sky and landed near Yomi before slicing Mato with a sharp weapon.
A new different painful sense of agony spread across Mato's body as she was flung back across the ground.
Mato tried to stand up again but she suddenly fell to her knees. An intense dangerous aura had entered the field. It felt so deadly that the very presence of the aura was able to make Mato's body freeze in fear.
She looked up and saw the last person she wanted to see.
"Dead Master? B-but how? I thought...N-No...No way..."
The girl put two and two together. There was no way Black would've allowed Dead to come here. So if Dead was here, that means... Black lost.
She was close to passing out. It was all nightmare she told herself. There was no way this was real...right?

Insane Black Rock Shooter vs Dead Master
Winner: Dead Master
-o-o-
Losing the will to fight, Mato began crying. She let go of her sword and unequipped her cannon.
"Don't you dare kill her Dead." Yomi ordered.
Dead simply nodded silently.
Yomi stepped forward towards Mato... only to be interrupted again. She saw a single rose petal fly across her vision.
Wind begins blowing rapidly in their direction from the right. The pair look and saw a small red tornado of petals and bones heading towards the horned devils. It looked like a toy compared to Dead's tornado of chains that stretched all the way to the clouds. But still a threat nonetheless.
Completely unfazed, Dead raised her hand. Upon her action, an enormous net of chains appeared around the rose petal tornado and squished it into nothing.
"Huh? She's still alive?"
After the red tornado was dealt with, Yomi and Dead looked back to see a red hooded girl standing in front of Mato like a sentinel. Mato and Stella looked up to see a very injured and bleeding Ruby. Her legs trembled, blood flowed down her face and her aura was beginning to fade.
Before she could say anything, Ruby spoke.
"Mato. Run."
"H-huh? What are-"
"I cleared a path for you so...Please. Run."
"No...No! No! No! Please no!"
"Mato. I promised your twin sister that I'll protect you-"
"NO! NO! You can still run! Save yourself! Didn't you want to become a huntress! You can't die-"
A gentle hand placed itself over Mato's mouth.
The red hooded huntress smiled despite the pain she was going through, "As a soon-to-be huntress...I couldn't have it any other way."
After those words, Ruby turned her back to Mato and faced her opponents.
"No. Ruby stop! Don't!"
Gathering all her aura energy she could, Ruby gripped her half-broken crescent rose tightly and bolted forward. As she ran, she spun around and gather enough momentum to create another tornado-like missile that headed straight towards Yomi.
"Dead...Get rid of her!"
"Yes."
With a simple raise of the hand, another enormous net of chains appeared around Ruby. She wasn't going to make it. The chains will crush her before she makes any impact.
Cursing her own weakness, Ruby closed her eyes and braced for her end.
...
Yet it never came.
Dead looked to the left.
ZOOM!
Instead, something or someone grabbed onto Ruby and zoomed past.
The reaction was almost instant. Dead pulled Yomi back and her scythe made impact with someone else's weapon as if blocking.
The net of chains caught nothing.
Whatever happened, it occurred so quickly that by the time Ruby's eyelids were half open, she was somewhere very far from where Dead was.
From Mato's point of view, she just so happen to blink at the exact moment and hence completely missed what happened.
Ruby opened her eyes. Her hands and feet weren't on the ground as it seemed someone was carrying her. She looked to see who her rescuer was. Her mouth went wide open in shock.
It was Chariot.
If Black saving Ruby was shocking enough, Chariot saving her was like an eagle saving a fish from a shark.
Meanwhile, before Mato could even process what had just happened, giant metal arms began emerging from the ground and smashed the surrounding skeletons. A gentle hand placed itself on Mato's shoulder.
"Sorry we're late."
Mato knew that voice anywhere.
It was Strength.
"STRENGTH!...T-thank goodness... Where's Yu and-"
"Don't worry, they're safe with the others," Strength assured.
More skeletons appeared and charged at the pair. However, none of them got close as more arms appeared to crush them.
"So Black really lost." Strength observed, almost not believing her own words.
"..."
"Mato. Let me and Chariot take care of this. Please ran and gather with the other worlders. They'll prot-"
"NO! No, no I can't run now." Mato stood up with new determination, "I...I have to talk Yomi."
One of Yomi's giant skull threw itself towards Strength. Equipping one of her giant metal arms onto herself, Strength collided her fist into the giant skull, cracking it greatly, before she sent the skull flying back and crashing into the ground into pieces.
"...Very well." Strength replied, "We'll try to keep Dead Master occupied...Good luck."
Back to Ruby, the poor red huntress was now frozen by the sheer deadly aura that the people in front of her were radiating. However, despite being injured and intimidated, Ruby made sure to express her gratitude:
"T-thank you." With that, the red huntress passed out.
"Stay out of my way, Chariot." Dead threatened with a glare.
"I can't. My other self asked me to." Chariot replied, "You of all people should understand that."
She did. Therefore Dead didn't ask any further and simply lifted her scythe.
Five giant metal arms emerged from the ground and threw themselves at the horned woman.
Chains emerged from the ground faster than the arms and wrapped themselves around the metal arms. She swung her scythe, slicing all the metal arms as if they were paper.
Behind her stood Strength, and in front of her, stood Chariot.
The crowned girl bent down a little, ready to take off as the engines in the wheels began roaring.
Chariot & Strength vs Dead Master
"W-why! WHY IS EVERYONE ALWAYS GETTING IN MY WAY! WHY WHY WHY WHY!"
"Yomi..."
The girl's neck snapped towards the voice that called her.
"Oh Mato, how nice of you come to me."
Mato vs Yomi
A/N END!
Hey! Been a while huh. So much for regular updates. I do apologise for that, university and my procrastination has taken up a lot of my time so I haven't been writing much.
Thank you everyone who read this chapter and express their concerns for me in the previous chapter :). Do not worry, I'll make sure to take care of my health.
I originally wanted to finish chapter 60 before posting this but chapter is almost done so I thought about posting this chapter first before posting the next one in a few days. So if I ever write more than one chapter in the future, I'll make to leave a short gap between each of them them instead of posting them all at the same.
So I'll be posting chapter 60 very soon, at a later date. But after chapter 60, I'll be focusing back on my University assessments for the next few weeks.
I know i've said this a million times but thank you everyone for still keeping up with me till now.
For those who didn't read the very short chapter 8 of my Behind the Scenes story...BLACK ROCK SHOOTER IS GETTING ANOTHER ANIME! IT WAS OFFICIALLY ANNOUNCED LIKE A DAY OR TWO AGO! WOOHOO! PARTY! I'M SO EXCITED! SO HYPED! YEAH!
Sorry, so yeah, its called "Black Rock Shooter DAWN FALL" and there's currently not much info about it but I am so hyped. I've decided to try make that my deadline and finish this story before that anime comes out. Not sure if I'll actually be able to but it does motivate me greatly so hopefully updates come out more often...(How many times have I promised that lol)
Anyways, again thank you all for reading.
So yeah...bye!
This chapter was finished on 19/10/2021.
