For by leaving Adelle after defeating Illua, the first Priestess of Mullenkamp, he had abandoned her to become wearied by a role more and less than herself; the High Seraph, Ultima, the Angel of Blood. Her sole apparent hope was the phantasm Ashe denied; harnessing power to etch Adelle's history anew.

Dalmasca is under siege. The Empire presses in on the borders, and it falls to Prince Rasler to lead the defense. Only in the worst of moments do we show ourselves for who we are. Dalmasca shall itself gloriously...

A woman from another world finds herself entwined with the events of Final Fantasy XII. She fights alongside Lady Ashe and her allies, but all is not as it appears to be. A far greater threat than Vayne looms on the horizon and in order to save Ivalice, she must unravel the mystery of her forgotten past and embrace the heart of a certain sky pirate.

This is a mostly canon-compliant attempt at a novelisation of Final Fantasy XII. For details about my headcanon, see my profile. This is just a trial to see whether I've still got what it takes. T, Basch/Vossler, Vaan/Penelo, some violence, adult themes.

As rumors of Larsa's possible death begin to form a path, Penelo can't stop herself from following it, only to find herself more captivated by the Empire than she ever thought possible. She doesn't know much about this world and it shows, but things go sideways when she meets a certain Dalmascan knight and she is in for the shock of her life. Did she mention that she was falling in love by accident and doesn't know it?

My first Final Fantasy XII fanfic in a long time.
