Chapter 2 - Hiding Bambi
WHERE IS THE SAVIOUR?
Just days after the tragic murders of former Hogwarts students, the final victims of He Who Shall Not Be Named, James and Lily Potter, rumours have widely spread that their orphaned daughter Harriet is missing. This strong little girl was the last to see You Know Who and some say that she, an infant, killed him herself.
It was rumoured at the time that there was a prophecy that a young girl, matching several young girls descriptions, would be the one to take down You Know Who once and for all but for some reason, unknown to many, he decided to go and take Harriet himself and leave the others for his loyal followers.
It is still unknown how He Who Shall Not Be Named was killed, supposedly by an infant, but the big question is: where did she go?
We spoke to Ruby Hagrid who had this to say:
"Will you stop following me already? I don't have her! Sirius Black took her…. Oh, I should not have said that… I should not have said that."
Sirius Black was a close friend of the Potters, a rare Gryfindor of a house consisting largely of Slytherin which begs the question; was Sirius the one that killed You Know Who to protect the infant?
It is widely known that Sirius' brother was a follower of He Who Shall Not Be Named and therefore he would be very likely to want to get revenge on the man who took his brother from him.
The damage to the house suggests foul play between You Know Who and the Potters who wanted to protect their daughter.
We went to the scene of the tragedy and spoke to some muggles who told us that "the lovely young couple that lived in that house mainly kept to themselves, if someone had only smelled the gas leak before the house went boom. My condolences to their family. I heard that they had a little girl who survived, poor dear."
To hide the magical aspect of the ruined house muggle witnesses were told it was caused by gas running the Potters home, leaking out of a pipe meaning that a single spark caused an explosion. It is incredible how muggles run their homes with something can destroy it. Any muggles that witnessed the explosions were confunded by ministry officials to ensure our world is kept secret.
What happened to the Potters is truly a tragedy and all staff at the Daily prophet send condolences to all the friends and family of the Potters but we are also concerned with the disappearance of their vulnerable daughter.
Sirius sighed and dropped his newspaper on the dining room table. Bambi, startled by the noise, started cooing annoyedly at Sirius, telling him off for startling her in mainly unintelligible words. Sirius smiled at her in her high seat, half of her apple slices mushed into a gross sight.
"Okay, okay, don't tell me off please Bambi! I won't do it again, okay?" Sirius insisted, his hands raised in mock surrender. Bambi looked at him dumbfounded, seeming to consider this for a moment, eyes wide, mouth agape. Then she blew a loud raspberry into his face and giggled at him. Sirius changed his expression into mock rage:
"That's it, you little rascal, for being naughty I guess you get 30 seconds of TICKLES."
Bambi immediately started squirming as she recognised the last horrifying words, she threw her legs and arms out, desperately trying to get away but Sirius easily reached her and started gently tickling her neck. Her giggles warmed Sirius' heart and he stopped tickling her and took her out of her high chair, leaving behind the devastation of her apple slices. He made his way towards the stairs with her in his arms, ready for naptime when suddenly there was a knock on the door.
He froze in horror in the hallway, (his mother's portrait shrieking curses at him, the door had woken her - he tried to ignore her the best he could). He hadn't seen any other person since arriving at Grimmauld place. He had only told one other person its location and he sincerely hoped it was him.
He put Bambi down on the floor: "Stay there." He told her, she seemed to notice the seriousness of the situation and sat still, looking up at him with her big green eyes, she fiddled with the buttons on her cardigan.
Sirius slowly approached the door, wand held high. "WHO'S THERE?" he called to the door as he got closer. He could barely hear over the cursing of his mother:
"... MIXING WITH MUDBLOODS… SHAME ON THE FAMILY"
"SHUT UP" he yelled at her, she quieted, supposedly in shock and he listened towards the door. He saw a dark figure at the door. Then finally the figure spoke, a familiar voice:
"Padfoot it's me!"
Remus! At last, he had told him hours ago where he was using the fireplace, what had taken him so long? He edged forward and hooked the chain on the door to the door frame before opening it, restricting it to open just wide enough for him to see the familiar scarred face of his friend.
"Moony!" he smiled at his friend, finally another person after days of isolation with Bambi.
Remus smiled and spoke the secret code: "I solemnly swear that I am up to no good."
Sirius smiled and shut the door to unlatch it before letting Remus inside. Remus rushed in, his coat was dripping from the rain outside, he used his wand to dry himself and looked up at his friend. Sirius rushed forward and hugged him whilst finishing the code:
"Mischief managed."
