After being informed of upcoming lessons on etiquette, ancient ghost laws and whatever else Clockwork was talking about, Danny caught up a bit more with Clockwork and went on his way.
While flying back, he kept "bumping" into some ghosts who drew him in some conversation or an activity, like playing tag with Youngblood, having a quick motorcycle race with Johnny, playing fetch with Cujo and- well. You get the point.
By the time he stepped out of the portal, the moon was high in the sky, stars shining above his town. He quickly checked that no ghosts were terrorizing innocent bystanders and after that, dropped dead in his bed.
He was floating. Everything was black- no, green? Or was it purple? He was upside down- no, he was lying down. Wait, no. He was floating upright in what now he recognized as the Ghost Zone. Shrieks and screams were heard in the distance and Danny tried to cover his ears but he couldn't move his arms.
He looked down. Green, glowing rope was holding his arms at his side. Upon a closer look, he could see he wasn't in his improved hazmat suit, but in the white shirt with the red circle he used to wear when he was fourteen.
"That means you still turn into me."
"Me? My future? It's inevitable."
"No. No, it's not! I'm not you- I'll never be you! It's time you realize that and just- disappear from my life!" His higher pitched voice before it got slightly deeper screamed into the abyss and the abyss... listened.
"Daniel James Fenton, also known as Danny Phantom. King of the Infinite Realms. You shall take the throne. And you shall bring forth a new era," a disembodied voice echoed from every direction. In his core, he knew it was the Ghost Zone itself, but Danny didn't know how he knew that.
"Wake up and bring us glory."
Well. That was something. He looked into the mirror as he ruffled his hair and called it a day.
With that dream- or should he call it a nightmare, he started his Sunday morning.
The rest of the week went... reasonably calm. He went to school, he got visited by a ghost which directed him to the lessons that just fried his brain til he reached the end. But he's doing good!
The coronation, the event celebrated by both his friends and enemies, went without a hitch, since it meant that the reign of terror of Pariah Dark was officially over.
King Danny was a fair monarch and with his rule, even though he didn't have to do much, he brought the Ghost Zone to a new beginning, a new story. The relationships between ghosts and humans slowly got better.
The people outside Amity Park still remained mostly oblivious to the absolute mind fuck that is the existence of ghosts, but the world was mostly peaceful, so that's what mattered.
(In one world, Danny noticed that he looked the same as he did when he was in his prime when he was supposed to be a 50-year-old. He noticed that he didn't age and wasn't that just fantastic!
The world moved on while he grieved his human friends and family. He grieved and cried and cursed the fact that he can never join them. But of course, the ghostly friends he gathered in those years didn't leave him to self-destruct and with their help, he picked himself up. He continued being a protector and Danny became worthy of the title King.)
(In another world, he grew up and aged with his family. He laughed and he cried and he lived. At his death bed, he used his power, that became almost otherworldly with time, practice and experience, to rid the Ghost Zone of its dependence on a King. Thus, the world will not be threatened due to a technicality.)
((What world do you think Danny Phantom lived in?))
