Swiftsong was traveling back to camp with the rest of WindClan, her pelt prickling. It had just been revealed at the gathering that her leader, Rabbitstar, had the audacity to help Darkstar fight RiverClan. What about the code? The Clans weren't supposed to overtake each other! The fact that Rabbitstar had lied about it to the rest of the Clan made her even angrier.

She huffed as she just barely stepped on a bramble, and shook off her paw as she continued walking near the back of the group. Not long afterwards, she saw her sister and Ravenfang falling into step with her. Swiftsong gave them both a small smile, though it was forced since she was still angry.

"So, that was pretty crazy, right?" Dawnbird said, nudging Swiftsong's shoulder. "Like, I didn't expect Rabbitstar, of all cats, to betray the code!" The cream she-cat turned to look at Ravenfang, and Swiftsong could see the admiration in her sister's eyes.

"What do you think, Ravenfang?"

The other she-cat shrugged, quiet as usual. "I don't know." She replied simply. Swiftsong noticed that she was more calm around Dawnbird than other cats. If those two didn't confess their crushes on each other soon, Swiftsong was going to lose it.

"Well that's not very helpful." Dawnbird snorted, and playfully cuffed Ravenfang over the ear.

"I don't know what to think about it."

Swiftsong frowned. "I guess…that's fair?" She glanced at her sister, who shrugged. "It's hard to know what Darkstar's real intentions are, I suppose."

She sighed as they padded back into camp. Ravenfang immediately left and disappeared into the Warriors' den, Dawnbird following not long after.

Swiftsong was left alone in the middle of camp. She could just barely hear the faint voices of Rabbitstar and Russetheart arguing back and forth in the leader's den, and she could hear the gentle voices of the queens hushing their kits to sleep. Swiftsong let out a soft sigh, and then felt a tail resting on her shoulder. Turning her head, she saw her mom, Peargaze, and gave her an affectionate smile.

"Tough night?" Her mother asked, sitting beside Swiftsong.

The brown tabby shrugged, sitting down with her. "I guess so. Darkstar's announcement was just…" She shivered. "Horrible. And the fact that Rabbitstar helped him?"

Peargaze nodded in understanding. "I agree. But everyone will get through this- and I'm sure StarClan will take care of everything."

Swiftsong wanted to be comforted by her mother's words, but she just couldn't. Peargaze had always been overly trusting in the "power" of StarClan. If they were so mighty and all-powerful, why did this happen in the first place?

Seeing that the sun had completely dipped below the trees and it was now dark, Swiftsong said goodnight to her mother and retreated to her nest in the Warriors den. It felt like there was a pressure on her chest, constantly pushing down and causing her heart rate to speed up.

She was worried of what could happen next. Would Darkstar go after ThunderClan? Or even WindClan? It was hard not to think about what could go wrong, and what she would do in that situation. So Swiftsong spent most of the night thinking, and worrying. How would she protect her family? Her Clan? Her Apprentice?

Eventually, though, she was lulled to sleep by the sound of crickets chirping.

Swiftsong opened her eyes to see a field. It looked exactly like the territory of WindClan, but brighter, and more alive. There were rabbits running left and right, showing no fear of Swiftsong or any of the numerous cats that roamed among them. At first, she thought that she was dreaming. But when she looked closely she could see the shimmering of the cats' pelts. It looked almost exactly what she had perceived StarClan cats to look like.

She let out a startled shout when a mass of fur just appeared in front of her.

"What the hell?" She hissed, trying to forcefully flatten her fur. When the blurriness in her eyes from surprise subsided, she saw that the cat also had stars littering their pelt. She couldn't recognize them, but she figured they must be a former WindClan cat.

"Be ready, for danger is coming." The cat said, chanting it over and over in a toneless, emotionless voice. It made Swiftsong's fur prickle again, and this time she made no effort to stop it. She unsheathed her claws, although she had no idea what harm a StarClan cat could actually do.

Forcing herself to look at the cat's face, she saw that their eyes looked…blank. They didn't blink, and they seemed as if they weren't seeing anything. They were just…there.

Confused, Swiftsong replied. "What danger?" She asked, trying to interrupt the cat's strange chanting of the same phrase, over and over and over again. It was starting to give her a headache.

But the cat didn't answer. Swiftsong felt herself slipping away from the world, the world that must've been StarClan. She tried to hold onto the dream, but she could only watch as the face of the cat faded along with her vision.

And she was plunged into darkness once again.

Heyyyyyy nice to see y'all. It feels good to update another chapter of this story. Just a tiny announcement, I have decided to change the name of this story from "Black Sky" to "Night Sky". First off, I felt like the original title could be taken as offensive to some, and I honestly don't want to make anyone uncomfortable. Also, the new title flows better tbh.

Also, this probably isn't the greatest place to say this but I have decided to discontinue Drifting Spirits. I honestly don't like writing it, and it's definitely not near any of my best work. If I get inspiration to pick it back up again one day, I'll do that, but as of right now I just don't want to write it.

Thanks for understanding, and have a great day!
