Chloe was sitting on her bed in Heaven looking at the pictures of Trixie she brought with her. She missed her so much. It had been almost two months since she came to Lucifer to help Lucifer, and she missed Trixie terribly. She'd never been away from Trixie for more than a week, so being away this long was taking a bit of a toll. She was very grateful it wasn't that long for Trixie. She wasn't sorry she came though. She missed Trixie a lot, but she knew it was important that she be here for Lucifer. He needed her much more than Trixie right now with all he was going through. She couldn't abandon him at such a time. Trixie was well taken care of with Dan anyway, and she'd barely miss Chloe with the time difference between Heaven and Earth.
"Detective?" A voice called out.
Chloe looked up to see Lucifer and immediately put the pictures down on the table beside her. "Hey. Are you okay?"
"I was going to ask you the same. You've seemed quiet all day," Lucifer said as he walked further into the room.
"Yeah, I'm good. I'm just missing Trixie a little," Chloe said.
"You should go home then. I don't want to be the reason you're not with your child," Lucifer said. Obviously, he didn't want her to leave. He'd been happy to hear that she was coming with him. It made him a little more comfortable with having to come back to Heaven. He enjoyed being around the detective. He didn't want to be apart from her for a long period of time. However, he also did not want her to be unhappy, which she obviously was. She missed her child. She should be with her.
"No, Lucifer. I'll be fine. Yes, I miss Trixie, but I'm glad to be here. Trixie is also glad I'm here. We talked about it before I came. She wanted me to help you. She's fine with Dan. It's only been a few days for her anyway," Chloe said.
"But not for you. There's no reason for you to be miserable here, especially for me. I'm not worth that anyway. Go be with your child," he urged.
It broke Chloe's heart to hear him speak like that, to say he wasn't worth a little bit of home sickness. It was why there was no way she was leaving. "I'm not miserable, Lucifer, just a little homesick. I'm not leaving unless you tell me you don't want me here."
Lucifer sighed. "Well, obviously I'm not going to do that. I don't lie, but I still don't think you should be unhappy because of me. You can at least go back for a little while. One of my siblings could fly you down. Uriel wouldn't mind, or Michael."
Chloe actually hadn't thought about that. She supposed that was an option, but even a short visit with Trixie would mean a long absence from Heaven from what she knew about the time difference. "I don't know. I'd still be gone a long time, possibly weeks."
"I'll be fine, Detective. My father wouldn't let me do anything even if I wanted to," Lucifer said.
"I hope you didn't say that to try to make me feel better about it because you failed," Chloe said before standing up and heading out of the room.
Lucifer followed her. "Really, Detective, I'll be okay. I don't need to be watched all the time, and even if I did, my father and siblings seem to have it covered. Think about it."
"I will," she told as they walked down to the living room. When they got there, Chloe noticed someone she hadn't met before. It was a young woman, who had short dark hair and looked to be in her early twenties. Chloe guessed she was much older than that though.
"Azrael," Lucifer greeted when he saw his sister.
"Hey, Lu. I had a few free minutes from taking souls. I hope it's okay with you that I came," Azrael said.
Lucifer shrugged. "These are Dad's quarters, not mine."
"I take it this is a sibling of yours, Lucifer," Chloe said.
Lucifer nodded. "Yes, this is my sister, Azrael. Azrael, this is Detective Chloe Decker."
Azrael smiled and shook the human's hand. "It's really nice to meet you. I've heard good things about you from some of my siblings, and you must be special to Lucifer for my father to bring you from Earth. He's never done that before."
Chloe smiled back at her. "It's nice to meet you too. Although, I would've liked to have met you earlier. It's been a couple of months since we've been here."
Azrael grimaced. She got the hint. She was being called out on not coming around before not. She got it. Chloe Decker was looking out for her brother. "You're right. I should've come sooner. Part of the reason I didn't is because I don't get a lot of time off. I'm the angel of death."
"I'm sure that's a big job, but I also know there's a big time difference between here and Earth," Chloe pointed out.
"Detective, it's alright," Lucifer said.
"No, she's right, Lu. That's not the main reason I haven't been here. I didn't come because I didn't know if I could face you. Dad told me you were having a really hard time. He told me that you were so bad off that he didn't trust you to be by yourself, so I knew it was bad. I didn't know if I could see you like that. You're my big brother. I've only ever known you to be strong. I was afraid of what Mom had done to you and how it left you. Also, I was kind of avoiding Dad. He wasn't too happy with me the last time I was here," Azrael told him.
"The blade thing, I presume?" Lucifer asked.
Azrael nodded. "Yeah, he was pissed that I waited so long to tell him that I was pretty sure Uriel had stolen it."
"Well, I'm pretty certain he's over that by now," he said.
"I am sorry I didn't come to see you. I wanted to, but I was scared I wouldn't be able to handle it and I'd lose it in front of you. I didn't want to make things worse for you," Azrael explained.
"It's alright. I wasn't interested in seeing many people anyway," Lucifer said.
"How are you doing? Are things any better for you?" Azrael asked.
'I'm alright," he said.
Azrael turned to Chloe, not trusting her brother's answer. Lucifer would never lie, but he would downplay how things really were.
"He is doing better. He's still struggling a lot, but it's not how it was when it first happened," Chloe said.
"Why does everyone talk about me as though I'm not here?" Lucifer grumbled.
Just then, God came into the room. "Hello, Azrael. I'm glad to see you've come to visit."
Azrael grimaced a little at her father, unsure if he was still mad at her. She never handled it well when her parents were angry with her, especially her father.
God caught the look immediately. "Now, that's enough of that. I was disappointed in you for not being more responsible when it came to your blade, but there is no reason to continue to dwell on it. You've come to understand your mistake, yes?"
"Yes, Dad," she immediately said.
"Then there's no reason to discuss it further. I will be holding onto your blade a little longer, but you will get it back soon enough, and I know that you will be more careful this time," God said.
"I will," she promised.
"Good. I hope you can stay a little while longer. I was just about get us all some lunch. I'm sure your brother would love for you to stay and catch up with him," God said.
"Yeah, I'd like that," she said.
"I'm actually going to let you guys catch up. I'm a little tired, so I think I'm going to go lay down for a little while," Chloe said. She really just wanted to let Lucifer have some time with his family. Getting better also meant mending things with his family, like getting reacquainted with his sister, and she felt he needed to do that without her there.
"Of course, Chloe, but just know that you're more than welcome to join us. Would you like me to set something aside for you for later?" God asked.
"That'd be great. Thanks," Chloe said before heading back to her bedroom.
