Chapter 1-2: Pure Love True Hate- Daily Life

Hanako sighed softly to herself as she walked down the halls. "This is not how I imagined this program going."

She continued wandering, not seeing anyone nearby until the sound of a bell rang from the intercom.

"Hello, my little class~ It is now 10 o'clock and nighttime has officially begun! Don't stay up too late now~!"

"We have a curfew, huh?" Hanako asked herself. "Might as well, too much has happened today." She said as she headed to her room.

As she walked into the room before the bedrooms, she saw Koichi lingering around.

"Koichi? Something up?" Hanako asked as she walked up to them.

"Ah, Hanako." Koichi said, quickly slipping on the surprised mask. "I didn't know you were still up."

"Yeah, I was just heading to my room. Why are you out here?" Hanako asked.

"Our situation doesn't help with going to sleep." Koichi said.

"Ah, alright then. I could cast a sleep spell to help if you'd want." Hanako offered, only for Koichi to shake their head.

"Thank you, but no. I'll be fine." Koichi said as they headed to their room.

"If you're sure. Good night then." Hanako said before she headed to her room. She sighed as she shut and locked the door before going over and flopping onto her bed. "Just got to stay positive, hopefully that'll help keep the mood up and away from our situation." Hanako said to herself before she drifted off to sleep.

The intercom ding rung again.

"Good morning, my lovely class~ It is now 7 am. Let us greet this beautiful day!"

Monomaho's voice was heard as Hanako woke up.

"I never liked having alarms waking me up." She yawned as she got up.

She heard a knocking at the door as she stretched.

"I'm coming!" She called out as she walked over to the door and opened it. "Oh, hey Gerard."

"Hi Hana!" Gerard cheerfully said. "Phoebe asked me to tell everyone to meet up in the dining room for breakfast."

"Well, that's nice of her. I'll be there in a moment." Hanako said.

"Okay! I'm gonna go finish telling the others!" Gerard said before she went off to the next room.

Hanako giggled softly as she fixed her appearance a bit, brushing off any dust from her dress before she left her room, shutting the door behind her as she walked to the dining room.

When she arrived, she saw some of the other students already there. As expected, Phoebe was sitting at the table, given that she was the one who wanted everyone there in the first place, with Konohana beside her, the two talking to each other at the moment. Takeshi and Atsushi were also there, although Atsushi was as enthused about it as Takeshi was. And Cora made up the last of the early students that made it to the dining room, who was sitting rather away from the other three students for some reason.

Hanako looked at the available seats and decided to sit next to Cora, who smiled at her as she did.

"Good morning, Hanako. I hope you had a good rest." Cora said.

"As well as I could, all things considered." Hanako admitted, covering her mouth as she yawned a bit.

"Yes, that is understandable. This is a rather terrible situation we've been put in." Cora said, frowning a bit at the reminder of their predicament.

"Yeah, but nothing will happen if nobody listens to that cat." Hanako reassured.

"Of course." Cora nodded before her expression brightened. "Oh! Yesterday Koichi told me you were planning a slumber party for everyone, is that right?"

Hanako smiled. "That's right. But I'll talk more about it when everyone else gets here."

"Right, sorry. It just sounds like so much fun and I got excited." Cora blushed embarrassed but still smiling.

"It's fine, don't worry about it." Hanako waved it off as she noticed more students entering. Most of them had found their seats, some notable outliers who seemed to want to isolate themselves, Mila and Chase being a few examples, but almost all them were there.

"Is this everyone?" Phoebe asked as she glanced around the room.

"Obviously not, we're missing two." Mila retorted.

"It's Gerard and Noburo, right?" Loch asked.

"Yeah, she's probably just busy trying to get him out of his room." Hanako said before they heard the sound of shouting as they all looked at the door.

"Let go of me! I don't want to join!" Noburo yelled as Gerard entered the dining room, struggling to pull Noburo in there with her.

"We need to all be together! Isn't it better to have friends than be alone?" Gerard said as she continued pulling.

"Maybe for you but I'd rather be alone!" Noburo yelled back.

Cora quickly got up and went towards the two. "Now, now, let's calm down. This is meant to be a peaceful gathering, okay?" She said, making the two Undead stare at her for a moment before Noburo yanked his arm away from Gerard and grumbled.

"Fine, but I'm not going to be happy about it." Noburo said as he went to take a seat, Gerard happily skipping after him. Cora smiled and nodded to herself before she retook her seat.

"Now that everyone's here, we should discuss on our situation." Phoebe said.

"What's there to discuss?" Aster asked. "Seems rather simple to me. We're trapped here unless we kill someone."

"Whoever does kill would be rather stupid." Yvette commented.

"We won't have to deal with that, since nobody is going to go through with this disturbing game anyways." Cora said with conviction.

"I highly doubt that." Mila said, making everything look over at her.

"Why do you say that?" Konohana asked.

"It's ignorant to believe that everyone is going to just be all buddy-buddy. It's basic fact that we will grow to hate each other since we're forced to be together. At some point, someone will snap and indulge in baser urges." Mila bluntly said.

There was a tense silence as everyone processed what Mila had just said.

"Well, I believe that's enough of that topic." Phoebe said with a tense smile, giving a sharp side eye to Mila who returned it. "Onto a lighter topic, I heard a rumour that someone was putting together a slumber party?"

"Yeah, that would be me." Hanako raised her hand and waved it lazily. "Just something to keep put minds off our situation. I was thinking we could have it two days from now."

"Sounds like fun!" Gerard said excited.

"Yeah! We can play games and get to be better friends!" Takeshi said, matching Gerard's enthusiasm.

"Sounds like a waste of time." Chase commented offhandedly.

"Nothing saying you have to join." Yuria replied.

"You're going to join them?" Chase asked, raising an eyebrow, as Yuria shrugged in response.

"I don't see why not, I'll be done with my practice by then anyways."

"Count me out, I don't do those type of things." Noburo said.

"Aw, come on! It'll be fun!" Gerard protested his response.

Hanako looked around as everyone made their own comments and a much lighter atmosphere filled the room. She smiled lightly as they got through breakfast and everyone split off to do their own things.

Hanako stepped out of the dining room and looked around the hall. "Now, who should I go find?" She asked herself as she walked down the hallway.

She stopped when she heard humming and looked to see Gerard skipping down the hallway towards her.

"Ah, Hanako!" Gerard said as she ran up to her.

"Hey Gerard, what're you doing?" Hanako asked.

"Just wondering around! Kinda like how I was before, kinda takes me back." Gerard said as she hopped lightly in place.

"It does?" Hanako asked.

"Yeah! I travelled a lot as I used my necromancy to help bring people back! I'm like a very late healer, I heal others when other professionals can't." Gerard said.

"Well, I wouldn't quite call it healing at that point." Hanako said to herself. "So you brought back a lot of people?"

"Yep! With both magic and science, but I prefer using the science since the magic used is a bit funky." Gerard admitted.

"You're not wrong about that." Hanako nodded in agreement.

"Right, you're the Ultimate Witch! You could probably help me with my Necromancy magic!" Gerard said, hopping excitedly.

"Maybe later." Hanako said. 'Wouldn't be the best time to try that.' She thought.

"Okay! I'll get my stuff ready for next time!" Gerard said before she ran off.

"She's cute, but she is very hyper." Hanako chuckled to herself as she continued walking.

As she walked she passed by Konohana's Lab, noticing the door was slightly open.

"Hm, she must be inside." Hanako said as she went up to the door and opened it, indeed seeing Konohana in there, but it was obvious she was distracted by something, what it was Hanako was unsure as she properly entered the room and headed towards the other.

"Konohana?" Hanako asked as she walked up to her, causing the student to startle a bit before turning around.

"Oh, Hanako, it's you. Sorry, I thought you were... someone else." Konohana said.

"Who did you think I was?" Hanako asked as she glaced again where Konohana was looking before.

"It's not important. Was there something you wanted from me?" Konohana asked.

"Not really, I just wanted to hang out and get to know you." Hanako said.

"That's nice of you. What would you like to know?" Konohana asked.

"Well, I'll admit that I'm rather curious about your Talent." Hanako said.

"Ah, yeah. An Ultimate Student does sound rather ridiculous as a Talent." Konohana admitted.

"I wouldn't say that." Hanako reassured as Konohana waved it off.

"It's fine. My parents expected a lot from me when it came to school, and I did all I could. I was practically a perfect student, perfect grades, attendance, everything." Konohana said, somewhat staring off into space before Hanako got her back into focus.

"Did you have any kind of break? Like a hobby or anything?" Hanako asked.

Konohana stayed quiet for a moment, allowing a small smile to form. "Well, I've always had an interest in mythology."

"Any myth in particular?" Hanako asked.

"I like them all, to be honest. I love learning about them, especially about all the gods. They offer so much advice." Konohana said.

"Advice?" Hanako asked, causing Konohana to fidget with her hair a bit.

"Their stories I mean. All the stories and morals they present." Konohana quickly said.

Hanako raised an eyebrow but decided to let it slide, for the moment anyways. "Alright. Anyways, I should get going. Talk to you later?"

"Yes, I would love to talk more." Konohana nodded. Hanako waved before she walked out of the room, closing the door behind her.

"There's something up with her." Hanako said as she continued her walk.

She soon decided to head back to the common room between the bedrooms. When she went back, she noticed Phoebe sitting in there, holding a cross as she appeared to be in the middle of a prayer. Hanako went over and quietly sat down near her, waiting for her to be done. Phoebe soon opened her eyes and let out a small surprised noise when she saw Hanako there.

"Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't notice you there." Phoebe apologized.

"It's fine, I didn't want to disturb your prayer." Hanako said.

"Well, thank you for that." Phoebe said with a slightly strained smile.

"You're still not comfortable around me, are you?" Hanako ventured a guess.

"I suppose it's a bit obvious, huh?" Phoebe sighed softly. "Please understand that my life has been spent with other humans."

"That you know of. Some of your friends may be other beings in disguise." Hanako countered.

Phoebe thought about it for a moment. "You may be right. I've been rather focused on spreading the word of the Lord that some obvious signs may have slipped by me."

"It's alright. I know you're trying to have an open mind. But this situation is probably not helping with that, is it?" Hanako said.

"Very true." Phoebe giggled softly. "But I won't let this color my thoughts of you and our other supernatural classmates."

"That's all I ask." Hanako smiled before she stood up, dusting off her dress. "I'm going to head to my room. Talk to you later."

"Yes, see you later." Phoebe smiled and waved as Hanako went back to her room.

Hanako stayed in her room for a while before the night time announcement dinged and Monomaho's voice came on the intercom.

"Hello, my little class~ It is now 10 o'clock and nighttime has officially begun! Don't stay up too late now~!"

"Might as well go to sleep." Hanako said as she laid down in bed. "Another night in this weird mansion."
