After a while, Dylan and Diane were making few phone calls, worrying about their son Derek who hasn't been home yet. Diane called Anna, but he wasn't there. Shane wanted to tell them, but he couldn't go against Derek. Shane had no choice cause Derek would've been home a lot sooner and he loves his Godparents so much, so he told his parents and everyone else the truth. Honestly, he felt super better when he told them. "Thank you dear," Diane said to the phone. "Please let me know if he comes over. Thank you." She spoke.
She hangs up the phone and turned to her best friends and the children.
"What did Anna say?" Kathleen asked.
"She said her father just left the house looking for him while her and her mother are staying at the house if Derek goes there." Diane told them.
Dylan and the guys all came back in the house.
"Oh dear, did you find him yet?" Sharleen asked.
Robert shook his head.
"No, we look at every diners he would be at." Kayden told them.
"Oh my." Addison said, covering her mouth.
Dylan saw the horror on his wife's face.
"Hey, it's going to be ok." Dylan comforted her. "We'll find him."
Diane just nods.
"I'm just worried for my baby's safety." Diane said.
"We are too, sweetie." Peyton said hugging her.
Shane stood up and walks over to them.
"Aunt Diane, Uncle Dylan…I am so, so sorry." Shane tells them. "I wish I had stopped him from going."
They both hugged him and Diane kissed his head.
"We're not mad at you, kiddo." Dylan tells him.
Shane gave a half-smile.
"Just don't be yourself up, boy." Robert said giving him a warm smiled.
Shane nods his head as the phone rang and Diane answered it.
"Hello?" She asked.
Everyone watched as her face fell from worried to heartbreak.
"Oh no, is he ok?" Diane asked. "We're on our way. Thank you, bye-bye."
She hangs up and turned to everyone else.
"That was the hospital." She told them. "Derek has been beaten to death."
Everyone was now horrid and rushed the kids to the cars as they drove to the hospital to see Derek. Once they arrived to the hospital, Dylan and Diane went in the room, with Danny in Dylan's arms.
"Oh dear!" Diane cried.
Danny looked down to see his big brother all beaten, bruised up and bloody. Even though he was only 3, but he was starting to get scared for Derek's life. Dylan gently put Danny down.
"Doctor, is he's gonna be ok?" Dylan asked the doctor.
"Yes, but his conditions are very serious." The doctor told them.
Diane looks up.
"But he is gonna make it, will he?" She asked.
The doctor smiled at her warmly.
"He'll make it, I can assure you." He told her.
Danny walks over to other side of the bed, gently touching Derek's hand.
"D-Derek?" Danny asked.
No respond.
"Derie?" He asks.
Danny gently kissed Derek's hand.
"Wake up, please." He whispers.
Danny's eyes starts to tear up.
"When will he wake up?" Diane asked.
"He'll wake up real soon," The doctor told her. "But for the time being, we do need him to stay overnight." Dylan lets out a big sigh, this was his worst nightmare.
He vowed to keep his family safe and protected.
"Doc, do you know who did this?" He asked.
"Well a witness said he saw Derek running into the alley and gotten beaten repeatedly and the person who had beaten him, left him unconscious in the alley." The doctor explained. "All the witness said was, he called 911 when he saw Derek's attacker chasing him. Thankfully the polices got to suspect in time."
"Oh." Diane spoke, covering her mouth.
She moved the hair out of Derek's eyes.
"Who did this to him?" Dylan asked.
"One of the policemen said the suspect was the name of, Luke Balmudo." The doctor told them.
Dylan clenched his fists tightly.
"Balmudo?" Dylan asked.
The doctor nods his head.
"I'm really sorry, Mr. Zuko." He adds.
He let out another sigh.
"If you need more questions, just ask me." He adds.
"Thank you, doctor." Diane said.
The doctor gave them a sad smile before leaving, Danny looked over at his parents. Diane was crying her eyes out, Dylan had an angry expression. Noticing that the situation was very serious, for a 3 year old.
"I'll be right back." Dylan said.
"What are you gonna do?" Diane asked.
"Just…I'll be back." He tells her, kissing her cheek.
Dylan walks out of the room and down the hall to see the guys' and their families.
"Dylan, is he ok?" Kayden asked.
"It was Luke Balmudo." Dylan told them.
"What?" Robert asked.
"Luke had beaten Derek senseless." Dylan repeated.
The women covered their mouths with their hands.
"That creep!" David snaps.
"Watch my family, please?" He asked. "I'm gonna be right back."
"Want us to come?" Peter asked.
Dylan shook his head and walked past them, running out of the hospital and into his car, driving to a well-known bar, to see Luke's father, Larry Balmudo, who is now drunk as heck. So Dylan ran to him and harshly turned him to come face to face, punching him in the face repeatedly.
"Hey, what's the big idea loser!" Larry shouted angrily.
But Dylan just threw Larry at the nearby table, breaking the table and glasses, but he didn't care. He stood over Larry, grabbing the hold on his jacket and then started punching him again, everyone tried to get Dylan off of Larry.
"Stop!" Dylan shouted. "His demon son almost killed my son who is now in a freakin' hospital!"
Everyone was dumbfounded.
"Calm down buddy…" A voice said behind him.
Dylan just glared at Larry who had a smirk on his face, so Dylan leans down a little. Dylan had never hated the man more than he hated his deadbeat father. Larry made his father look like a saint.
"If I ever see you or your sick family again or if I ever see your boys bullied my children or the guys' kids, I swear I will make your lives a living hell!" He threatened him.
"Come on son, let's go outside and talk." A voice behind him, said again.
But before Dylan could turned around, he gave Larry one last big kick in the stomach and stormed out of the bar with the guy behind him.
"Now wanna tell me what's up?" The guy asked.
Dylan looks at the kind caring guy, he was clean-cut.
"Don't worried, I just wanna help you." He smiled. "The name is Sid. Sid Calhoun."
He held his hand out, letting Dylan shakes his hand.
"It's a…it's nice to meet ya, Sid." He replied. "I'm Dylan. Dylan Zuko."
"Nice to meet you, Dylan." Sid told him.
Dylan lets out a deep sigh as he sits down on the bench, running his clean hand through his hair in frustration while Sid sits down next to him.
"Wanna…talk about it?" Sid asked. "If you like…."
Dylan lets out a sigh and sits up before speaking.
"My son is in the hospital." Dylan told him. "And that freak who I punched, his son is the reason why my son is in the hospital."
Sid felt his heart break, he knew how he would feel if someone hurt his children.
"Oh jeez, I'm so sorry." Sid says to him.
"I'm just…so…scared of losing one of my kids." Dylan said.
He let out another deep sigh, before speaking.
"I tried so hard to protect them and…keeping them safe…" Dylan adds. "I failed as a father."
Sid felt his heart break for the guy.
"Now don't you say that Dylan," Sid said. "Your kid is very lucky to have a father like you."
Dylan looks at him and nodded a little.
"Everything's gonna be alright." Sid told him. "Come on, I'll drive you back to the hospital." He offers.
He gently pats his shoulder.
"Ok." Dylan quietly says.
"Alright." Sid said, giving him a warm smile.
they both stood up, walked to Dylan's and his car, driving back to the hospital.
