It was finally February 14, 1946 and it was Valentine's Day, which means it was Derek and Anna's wedding day. Derek was in the bathroom, getting ready, just then he heard the door knock. "Come in." He called out as Dylan came walking in.
Derek smiled at his father.
"Well?" He asked.
Dylan smiled at his eldest.
"You are growing up way too fast, my boy." He smiled.
Derek lets out a chuckled.
"Diane and Danny are waiting in the car." Dylan told him. "Uncle Peter and Aunt Peyton have Archie with them."
Derek nods and then looked at himself in the mirror.
"I'm all set." He said.
Dylan pats his shoulder.
"You look great, my boy." Dylan smiled.
Derek smiled at his dad.
"Dad…when you married mom, were you nervous?" Derek asked as he turned to him.
"Nope." He said. "Cause I knew I wanted to married her and have a family with her."
Derek smiled and then frowned a little.
"Dad, Ric is an idiot." Derek said. "I refuse to call the man, "Grandpa", after the way he treated my father, my Uncles, my Aunts and my grandmother." Dylan smiled and patted his cheek.
"Well, I'm glad we got out of that toxic household life." He said. "Son, when we found out that Diane was pregnant with you…I was scared."
"Yeah…Grandpa Fredrick told me that." Derek said. "But there was no reason to be scared. "
Dylan looks up at him.
"Dad, you're the best father and you are not like Ric. Dad…mom told me you baby me and Danny when we were born, yeah she did too." Derek adds, making Dylan laughed a little. "But…you gotta remember that you are the best father ever, no dad would go beat the daylight of his son's attacker's father when his kid was in the hospital." Derek explained.
Dylan chuckled a little, he would do ANYTHING for his family and friends.
"You always made sure to protect me, Danny, mom and everyone else." He adds. "We love you, dad."
"I love you guys too, son." Dylan spoke as he tighten Derek's tied a little. "C'mon son."
He pats his arms.
"You gotta get married to a lovely gal." He smiled.
"Alright!" Derek smiled.
Dylan chuckled at him.
"You really are growing up." Dylan smiled.
Derek let out a laugh.
"I am…so, so proud of you." Dylan tells him. "Your mother and I…we knew we did something right…but what make us so proud…is how you would go out of your way, to protect Danny and the kiddos."
Derek smiled.
"And…when we saw you on that hospital bed, son…you don't know how we felt right there in that moment…" Dylan adds. "It was…"
"I know dad." Derek said. "I'm so glad I made it out alive."
Dylan pats his arm and gave him a warm smile before they both walked out of the bathroom and down the stairs to leave the house.
