Announcement!

Hey guys, it's me, ThatSaiyaGuy, and I just wanted to make a quick post announcing I will be re-writing this story. While I was originally on the fence, after seeing how disliked my last two chapters were and the praise for the first part of my story, I feel like I owe it to everyone to go back and do better because I'll admit I dropped the ball on the final chapter.

Now I know I could just go back and redo chapters 11 and 12 and could definitely make a better ending if I took more time. But I feel like my time would be better spent reworking this story. To be honest, I didn't think this story was all that great. Well, I knew it was good, but it generally surprised me when the reviews on the final chapter told me how good the first half was.

Personally, I thought this story was…okay. I was going to say mediocre, but I don't think it's on that level. This whole story, for me, as I've stated before, was an experiment, and I want to thank all those who left those critics on the last chapter.

Seriously I'm thankful for each of them. No matter how harsh they may be, they were right, and it will make me a better writer in the future by learning from my mistakes. Now I don't want to keep droning on, so I'm going to continue.

I don't know when the re-write will come as this time around, I want to thoroughly plan out a story and not just go chapter to chapter as I feel it didn't fully work with the story before. I feel like I could definitely do better with this type of story, planning out a huge arc with twists instead of writing down whatever comes to mind.

Though I'll be using some things from the original story, I do wish to come up with newer scenarios for Kalen to go through. Speaking of Kalen, I also want to develop his character more so that he isn't just a stereotype/Light repaint because let's be honest, he kinda was even with my efforts.

This time he'll be more of his own character and have an arc throughout the story that affects his character instead of staying the same person throughout. The same will be going for Xen, making him less of an L clone. I also want to have Salem actually have some sort of role this time around because when I started this story, I wasn't really thinking about her.

Honestly, this re-write for me feels like an opportunity to do what I should have done with this story and right the wrongs I did. Especially fixing the mistakes I made throughout, like the one-sided affection Weiss was supposed to have with Kalen, but I never did anything with it. I'm sure some of you noticed it, and because I ended the story so fast, nothing came of it.

I might actually do something with that this time around and not, you know, leave it up in the air. Same with the new use for the Death Note, the conditional death I made. Not going to lie. Because of how I wrote the story, I kinda forgot about it, making it sort of a Chekov's gun sorta deal.

Originally I was going to have Kalen use it in the last chapter to kill nearly everyone taking them with him after learning his identity, but I decided against it. This time around, I'll try not to give that plot armor to the characters too. Anyway, I'm done rambling about this, so hopefully, you guys are excited for the re-write, which will be called The Cursed Notebook.

I know I could just call it New Kira New World, but I want to make it easy to differentiate the stories. I also can't say when this re-write will come out as I'm going to continue focusing on my other stories and carefully plan this new one out. So it won't happen anytime soon, but that just means I'm actually making a plan for this one.
