Title: Return of the Trucks

One Friday afternoon, Mavis was enjoying some girl time with Emily and Rosie at the park. A new school year had begun for the latter two, but Mavis had also begun attending university along with both Edward and Toby. Even better? She and Toby both moved into a new apartment near the campus. When Emily and Rosie both learned of this, they were quite surprised that Mavis and Toby were living together—yet remained happy for the couple.

"Moving into a new apartment," smiled Emily, "It must be a new experience for you two."

"You could say that," Mavis said back, before getting out her water bottle, "Still, we also think of it as a learning experience. For the first two years of us attending university, Toby's family is helping us with money until we both find part-time jobs to pay the rent and other things."

"But you know," interrupted Rosie, who had a mischievous gleam in her eyes, "I'm still really surprised…" She watched as Mavis took a drink of her water, "…that since you and Toby are now living together, you haven't thought of getting intimate with each other."

As soon as those words left the cherry red-haired girl's mouth, Mavis's eyes widened as she started coughing and hacking due to her swallowed water accidentally going down the wrong pipe.

"W-What?!" choked Mavis.

"Oh, come on," teased Rosie, "You and Toby have been dating for how many years now?" She started counting using her fingers, but eventually gave up, "Aww, forget it, I lost count. Now that you're out of high school and living in the same building, I think it's time you two either make it official or go home."

Mavis blushed furiously, "D-Don't be ridiculous, Rosie," she protested, looking very embarrassed over being made fun of like that, "We're not even 18 yet!"

"Ha ha ha ha! Just calm down," Rosie laughed slightly, "I'm only kidding! Besides, what do I know about getting intimate with a boyfriend? Stanley and I are only 16!"

"But I sorta know what it's like to be intimate with your romantic partner," thought Emily, grinning at the mention of being intimate (since she and Thomas were intimate quite a lot in their past lives). She then spoke aloud, "Still, you do make a good point, Mavis. It's far better to wait until you're at least 18 or older before attempting such a life-changing thing."

"Oh, believe me, we plan on doing that," sighed Mavis, less than thrilled over the teasing from Rosie, "Now then, let's change the subject. So far, classes have been long and exhausting for us both, which isn't helped by us staying up to almost midnight or later while getting very little sleep—but we're making the most of it."

With that said, Emily hurled a frisbee disc into the distance as Rosie went chasing after it. Yup, it was a nice day for playing frisbee with friends.

(elsewhere…)

Later on, Mavis was leading Emily and Rosie down the street in the city, aiming to show them where she and Toby were living. Unknown to them, some delinquents were being sneaky and following them. They weren't Arry nor Bert, not even Diesel or Dennis. No, the two young men had grayish hair and wore black shirts and torn blue jeans. They both snickered darkly to themselves as they kept following, making sure they weren't seen by the people they were following. Eventually, the three teenage girls arrived outside an apartment building.

"Here we are," announced Mavis proudly, "Home, sweet home! Toby should be back by now, so let's go and see him."

She led her two best friends into the building. Once they were inside, the two delinquents following stopped near the entryway and waited a minute or so before looking at one another and nodding, going inside as well.

(inside…)

After greeting the owner of the apartment building, Mavis, Emily, and Rosie walked down a few hallways before coming across Room 05-05-1992.

"That's the apartment you're both living in?" asked Rosie.

"Yup," confirmed Mavis, while knocking on the door.

A few seconds later, the door opened and revealed a tired yet cheerful-looking Toby standing in the doorway, who was overjoyed to see his longtime girlfriend as well as two of his good friends.

"Mavis! I'm glad you're back!" greeted Toby, "And Emily and Rosie are with you! Please, come on in."

"Hi, Toby!" said Emily excitedly.

"Wow, it looks very nice on the inside!" admired Rosie, walking into the apartment.

Once the visitors entered, the door was carefully closed. Nearby, the same two delinquents emerged from behind a corner. They approached the apartment and took a look at the room number very carefully.

"Room 05-05-1992," The first delinquent read carefully.

"Very good," The second delinquent smirked oily, writing the address down, "Come on, let's go and tell the boys—more importantly, our new ringleader."

And so, the two young men quietly left the scene.

(elsewhere…)

Within an alleyway of Knapford City, several similar-looking delinquents were busy standing around either playing cards, smoking cigarettes, or just spray painting the walls when they overheard some voices calling out to them…

"Guys! Guys!"

The seven young men looked nearby, noticing two of their fellow gang members running up to them.

"We got news for da boss!" The first delinquent panted, "It's news he'll want to hear immediately! Meaning we can't waste any time chatting with any of you!"

"News, eh?" grunted one of the other delinquents.

"You guys remember how several of our previous members and our last boss got jailed for life several years ago?" recalled the second delinquent, "Well, we happened across the one responsible for getting them thrown into the slammer."

This got the other delinquents very intrigued; if this was the same person who weakened the entire gang's morale, then this would be something they wanted to know about.

"Alright, when you put it that way, let's go tell the new boss," requested the third delinquent.

With that agreed to, the delinquents entered the building on the left.

(inside…)

Inside the group's hideout, several more delinquents were shown either playing video games, playing pool, playing poker, smoking cigarettes, or roaming around and chatting. Loud rock & roll music was also playing on a stolen boombox. Sitting and lounging on a nearby 'throne' and looking over some Duel Monsters cards while smoking from a cigarette, was a young man with black, spiky hair, wearing a flaming red/orange shirt with the sleeves ripped right off, and torn blue jeans.

"Boss! Boss! We come with news!" The voices of the first two delinquents echoed.

"Hmm?" The spiky black-haired young man wondered, looking and seeing several of his underlings running up to him before kneeling, "What's this all about?"

"Boss, we found the one who got several of our gang members and our last boss thrown into the slammer!" reported the second delinquent, "It's that girl known as Mavis Drewry!"

"Mavis Drewry?" The so-called 'Boss' repeated, taking a smoke, "Never heard of her."

"She's that friend of the guy who beat you in a duel before you became our boss!" reminded the first delinquent, "Lord Fred, we know where she lives!"

Fred, full name Fred Pelhay, made a quick grunt, signaling to proceed.

"She lives in this apartment on the following street!" began the second delinquent, handing Fred a small slip of paper, "And the room number is 05-05-1992!"

"Or was it 11-11-1991?" said the first delinquent stupidly, getting slapped upside the head, "GAH!"

"I see…" murmured Fred, ignoring the stupidity of one of his underlings as he read the slip with interest, "You Troublesome Trucks want revenge on this Mavis girl, right?"

"More than anything!" insisted a fourth delinquent (a Truck member), "Our gang hasn't been the same until you took over as our leader!"

"Not to worry," reassured Fred, standing up with a nasty gleam in his eyes, "You guys will get your revenge," He gestured his thumb towards himself, "You just leave it all to me, the great Fred Pelhay."

"Let's go get her, now!" suggested the third Truck member.

"YEAH!" The other Trucks eagerly agreed.

"Not yet," interrupted Fred.

"EH?!"

The spiky black-haired young man merely snickered deviously to himself, despite the fact he just upset his fellow Truck members.

"Boss, what are you saying?!" objected a fifth Truck member.

"Let's not be too hasty, my friends," dismissed Fred, "I have a far better idea… We should wait until she's alone without anyone to be within her line of sight. Get what I'm saying? Tonight, we'll go to the apartment and find a good enough time that the girl will be alone without anyone to keep an eye on her."

"You mean barge right into the apartment?" suggested a sixth Truck member.

"Idiot!" snapped a seventh Truck member, punching his comrade in the shoulder and making him flinch, "The boss means a few of us are gonna stand outside the apartment, remain very quiet, and listen to a possible conversation she might have with her boyfriend. That way, we'll know when to strike."

"That's right," confirmed Fred, "Troublesome Trucks, prepare for the job!"

The Troublesome Trucks all cheered in response.

(elsewhere…)

That night after Emily and Rosie both left for home, as Toby and Mavis cleaned and put away the dishes from dinner, the former had some news to let his girlfriend know about…

"Mavis, I'm gonna be up early tomorrow morning," said Toby, "My family's asked me to help them with delivering our new crop of vegetables to the market."

"Sure thing," Mavis nodded, while cleaning the inside of a glass, "Any idea how long you'll be gone?"

"I'm leaving at around 5:30. Although the crop is big, the delivery job should hopefully last for at least two hours at the earliest—maybe an hour if we get lucky."

After finally putting the washed glass aside as her boyfriend finished explaining where he's going, the blonde-haired girl nodded again as she resumed washing and drying the dishes.

(outside…)

Outside the apartment, three Truck members, with their ears pressed against the door, listened to the conversation going on inside the room. They were pleased with what they were hearing.

"Farm boy's leaving at 5:30?!" snickered the first Truck member.

"That's perfect," The second Truck member hissed deviously, "The girl will be alone and asleep during that time. It also means we can break in and nab her!"

The third Truck member chuckled in agreement, and he and his two friends snuck away from the door and out of the building. This did not sound good for Mavis…

(elsewhere…)

Inside the Troublesome Trucks' hideout, Fred was meeting with the Trucks he sent out to gather intelligence on their target. When the explanation ended, he grinned over the success of the reconnaissance mission.

"That Toby guy will be gone at 5:30 tomorrow morning? Wonderful!" laughed Fred, "Good work, you three… Now we know when to strike! In fact, I know of a location where we can begin your revenge. There's an old bridge near the river…"

"Oh! Oh! We know that place!" exclaimed the third Trick member, "It's the exact same place where our boss was caught, and that girl first saved that farm boy from our boys! Last we heard about it, the bridge got fixed—but we can certainly change that."

"Oh boy, this is gonna be sweet!" The second Truck member jeered, "Tomorrow, we will finally have our payback!"

(elsewhere…)

Very early next morning, Mavis was still sound asleep in her room. She had been up late (again) working on a project for one of her classes and was so tired afterward that she didn't bother slipping into her pajamas before collapsing onto her bed and hitting the snooze button—she remained in her current clothes of black t-shirt and blue jeans for the entire night.

(outside…)

Meanwhile, Toby was busy getting ready to leave and help out with the crop delivery; he just showered and got dressed in some clean clothes, and was eating a quick breakfast of toast with peanut butter when he saw what time it was on the clock.

"I'd better get going or I'll be late," Toby realized, getting the keys to his car and even his favorite hat, "Wait, my favorite hat…! I can't go help with anything farm-related without it."

With that said, the brown-haired boy left the apartment, which meant Mavis was all alone for the next little while. Sure enough, fifteen minutes later, the door was opened quietly, revealing two members of the Troublesome Trucks. They weren't there to rob the place, but, rather, to kidnap someone.

"Phew! Picking that lock didn't take long," whispered the first Truck member.

"Now let's grab the girl and beat it before anybody sees us," added the second member, before remembering something, "Oh yeah, Lord Fred also wants us to get her Duel Monsters Deck and Duel Disk, too. Good thing, since it means we can make her suffer before officially offing her."

With that said, the trouble delinquents snuck around until they found the door to Mavis's room slightly open.

(inside…)

Peeking inside, the two Truck members found Mavis sound asleep on her bed. Grinning, they approached their victim and loomed over her. Seconds later, Mavis started to wake up; when she opened her eyes and, briefly in her POV, saw who was looking at her, one Truck member aimed a chloroform cloth directly onto her mouth.

"Nighty night," he sang in a teasing way.

With Mavis now unconscious, the delinquents could carry her out without any more trouble. The first Truck member picked up Mavis's unconscious body, and the other Truck member quickly got the Duel Disk (with the Deck inside) off the nearby shelf, and, with quiet, evil chuckles, they both left the apartment with their prisoner as though they were never there.

(elsewhere…)

When Mavis finally regained consciousness within an unknown amount of time, she found herself standing on an old wooden bridge with her Duel Disk equipped.

"Wh-Where am I?" Mavis asked herself groggily, "Why does this place seem so…familiar?"

"It 'should' be familiar," A voice (male) replied, "You were here once upon a time."

Mavis gasped, and looked behind her end of the bridge, finding several members of the Troublesome Trucks gang standing there.

"No, it can't be…" dreaded Mavis, "You guys… you guys are…"

"That's right, we're the Troublesome Trucks," A Truck member confirmed, "You might have forgotten all about us, but we never forgot about 'you'…"

Mavis could only stare in horror.

"And these guys want payback," The voice of Fred echoed, causing the blonde-haired girl to look nearby and see more Truck members standing on the other end of the old bridge. He smiled deviously, "And so, they came to me for guidance."

"Now I remember… This is the place where you guys tried to kill Toby those years ago," remembered Mavis, "I originally came to you, because I didn't know any better… When I tried to save Toby after I realized that I had been deceived, you guys tried to destroy the bridge and make us fall to our deaths, but the police arrived and caught several of your boys as well as your last leader."

"How very perspective," smiled Fred, stepping onto the old bridge, "My name's Fred Pelhay, and I'm this group's new boss. You might remember me from when I tried challenging Thomas for a chance to face his 'God' Cards, but I dueled and lost to a nerdy boy named Edward."

"Why did you bring me here?" Mavis demanded, "I mean, besides the obvious want of revenge for getting your boss arrested."

"It's simple, we're going to have a duel here," replied Fred, activating his Duel Disk, "Consider it your 'last' duel. See, from what me and the boys have learned over watching most of these duels, goody-goods like you are often given a chance for freedom when they win. But thankfully, I know better than to do that. So no matter who wins or loses, we're gonna toss you off the bridge into the river. And since there's no other witnesses to testify against us, we'll get off scot free."

"It's 'always' a duel," grunted Mavis, knowing that she had no other choice on the matter. She activated her own Duel Disk, "In that case, you got yourself a match! But I swear…no matter what, I'll find a way to escape from my situation."

"Famous last words," sneered Fred, "Now, enough talk!"

The Troublesome Trucks cheered as Fred and Mavis both began their battle (LP: 8000) x2.

"The first turn is mine!" announced Fred, drawing a card, "Draw!"

Turn One: Fred Pelhay (LP: 8000)
Deck: 54
Current Hand (6): "Chthonian Polymer", "Infernal Incinerator", "Chthonian Soldier", "Chthonian Blast", "Tribute to The Doomed", and "Infernal White"

A few seconds after adding his drawn card, he took two cards and slotted them into Spell & Trap Zones on his Duel Disk. This caused two face-down cards to materialize on the field.

"I first Set these two cards face-down," As Fred spoke, he held another card ('Infernal White') out, "Then, I'll activate a Continuous Spell, 'Infernal White'!"

"What?! 'Infernal White'?" pressed Mavis.

The mentioned Spell Card materialized face-up on the field belonging to Fred.

"This is how my card words," began Fred, holding his whole hand out, "I must play with my hand revealed," While talking, five cards ('Infernal Incinerator', 'Chthonian Soldier', and 'Tribute to The Doomed') materialized in the air above his head, "During each of my opponent's Standby Phases: I must inflict 600 damage to my opponent."

"I get to see your whole hand just so you can damage me?" blinked Mavis, "That would make me worried if not for the fact I can now see what you're going to play, meaning I can more easily figure out your strategies."

"Don't be so sure," dismissed Fred, before pointing up at one of the cards in the air, "Now, come forth, 'Chthonian Soldier'!"

Appearing onto the field was an armored swordsman wearing a dark teal cloak beneath his armor (Level: 4/ATK: 1200/DEF: 1400).

"My turn is over!" Fred finished, smiling as smugly as ever, "Now, it's your turn!"

"Our LP may start at 8000, but 'Infernal White' will certainly wear me down before too long," thought Mavis, before drawing a card while speaking out loud, "Draw!"

Turn Two: Mavis Drewry (LP: 8000)
Deck: 54
Current Hand (6): "Cyber Angel Rebound"(!), "Fulfillment of the Contract", "Etoile Cyber", "Cyber Petit Angel", "Blade Skater", and "Polymerization"

"Now the second effect of 'Infernal White' activates!" proclaimed Fred, before pointing at his opponent, "During my opponent's Standby Phase, they, being you, take 600 points worth of damage!"

Mavis glowed in a red aura and grunted as she took damage (LP: 8000 → 7400). Not to be outdone, she took a card from her hand and slotted it into her Duel Disk.

"Spell Card, 'Polymerization', activate!" declared Mavis, as the mentioned Spell Card materialized face-up on the field in-front of her, "I must Fusion Summon 1 Fusion Monster from my Extra Deck, using monsters from my hand or field as Fusion Material," She then held two more cards ('Etoile Cyber' and 'Blade Skater'), "I fuse 'Etoile Cyber' and 'Blade Skater' together into 'Cyber Blader'!"

The two female monsters briefly appeared onto the field before entering the Fusion Vortex, and coming out onto the field as a purple-skinned, skating human woman in a red gown (Level: 7/ATK: 2100/DEF: 800).

"A decently strong monster right off the bat, wouldn't you say?" teased Mavis.

"It is," agreed Fred, "However…" A somewhat crazed smile formed on his face, "But it's also a monster that will become mine to use!"

"Huh?!"

"Yes!" The spiky black-haired young man said again, as one of his Set cards flipped face-up and revealed itself, "Face-down card, activate! 'Chthonian Polymer'! When my opponent Special Summons a Fusion Monster from the Extra Deck: I must Tribute 1 monster; I must take control of that Fusion Monster."

True to his word, 'Chthonian Soldier' burst into flames, which began to overtake 'Cyber Blader', despite the female monster's attempts to fight it. Before long, 'Cyber Blader' went over to Fred's side of the field.

"In that case…" murmured Mavis, taking another card ('Cyber Petit Angel') from her hand and placing it onto her Duel Disk, "I Summon 'Cyber Petit Angel' in Attack Position!"

Appearing onto the field was the robotic, pink, fairy-ball with wings (Level: 2/ATK: 300/DEF: 200).

"'Cyber Petit Angel's' effect!" As Mavis spoke, she drew a card ('Cyber Angel Idaten') and looked at it for a few seconds before looking up at her opponent, "If this card is Summoned: I can add 1 'Cyber Angel' monster or 'Machine Angel Ritual' from my Deck to my hand. I can only use this effect of 'Cyber Petit Angel' once per turn."

"A lone 200 ATK monster against one with an ATK of 2100?" joked Fred, "How amusing! And besides, you now control a monster, and it activates one of 'Cyber Blader's' effects! It cannot be destroyed by battle!"

"I know that!" yelled Mavis, before making a face-down card materialize on her side of the field near her feet, "I Set one card face-down and end my turn!"

(elsewhere…)

Back at the apartment, the door opened and a cheerful-looking Toby entered with a big bag of vegetables he was rewarded for working hard.

"I'm home!" he called, "And I got lots of fresh vegetables; it's enough to make my family's famous vegetable soup for dinner tonight!"

There was no response.

"Mavis?" wondered Toby, "Mavis, are you up yet?!"

Still no response. Growing a little worried, Toby walked over to Mavis's room to see if she was still sleeping. He knocked on the closed door gently.

"Mavis, it's time to get up," requested Toby. When he got no answer, he knocked again, "Come on, Mavis, this isn't funny."

(inside…)

Toby opened the door, entered the room, and turned on the light. To his surprise, the bed was unoccupied.

"Mavis?" asked Toby, "Where could she be? Did she maybe go out for a walk?" He then saw that her Duel Disk was not on top of the nearby shelf, "Her Duel Disk is missing, too."

Now Toby was becoming really worried. If only he knew where Mavis had gone…

(elsewhere…)

Back on the old bridge, the duel between Mavis and Fred was ongoing.

"It's my turn!" exclaimed Fred, drawing a card, "Draw!"

Turn Three: Fred Pelhay (LP: 8000)
Deck: 53
Current Hand (3): "Infernal Incinerator", "Tribute to The Doomed", and "Pot of Greed"

On cue, the 'Pot of Greed' Spell Card flipped face-up and revealed itself.

"I activate 'Pot of Greed'!" As he spoke, Fred drew two more cards, "I must draw 2 cards."

From there, two more cards ('Premature Burial' and 'Blustering Winds') appeared above Fred's head and joined what remained of the revealed hand.

"Just because you can see what I have, doesn't mean you're likely going to stop my plans!" bragged Fred, before holding another card ('Tribute to The Doomed') out, "Next, I'll activate the Spell Card 'Tribute to The Doomed'!"

The mentioned Spell Card materialized face-up on the field, while Fred took another card ('Infernal Incinerator') and held it up for a moment before sending it to the GY.

"I must discard 1 card, then target 1 monster on the field; I must destroy it," explained Fred, before pointing at his opponent's field (but mainly at 'Cyber Petit Angel), "Say goodbye to your 'Cyber Petit Angel'!"

From there, poor 'Cyber Petit Angel' became engulfed with many bandage wraps from the face-up 'Tribute to The Doomed" Spell Card and was forcefully pulled down into the ground.

"My 'Cyber Petit Angel'-!" gawked Mavis in dismay, but recovered enough to press a button on her Duel Disk, "How dare you!"

One of her Set cards flipped face-up and revealed itself.

"I activate a Trap, 'Cyber Angel Rebound'!" shouted Mavis, "When a 'Cyber' monster I control is destroyed by an opponent's card: I must apply 1 of the following effects, depending on the Type of the destroyed monster."

These were the effects on the card:
-"Fairy: I must draw 2 cards."
-"Warrior: I must target 1 card my opponent controls; I must destroy that target."

Fred snorted.

"I can only activate 1 'Cyber Angel Rebound' per turn," Mavis explained further, drawing two cards, "Since 'Cyber Petit Angel' was a Fairy monster, I get to draw two more cards."

The two cards were 'Machine Angel Absolute Ritual' (Spell Card) and 'Prima Light' (Spell Card).

"And now, I'll follow that up with the Equip Spell 'Premature Burial," jeered Fred, just as the mentioned Spell Card materialized face-up onto the field, "I must activate this card by paying 800 LP, then target 1 monster in my GY; I must Special Summon that target in Attack Position and equip it with this card. When this card is destroyed, I must destroy the equipped monster."

A card ('Infernal Incinerator') ejected from his GY, which he took and held out.

"Come, 'Infernal Incinerator'!" ordered Fred (LP: 8000 → 7200).

Suddenly, a giant flame erupted on Fred's side of the field, causing an explosion. When the explosion died down, a massive creature with a withered body chained to the top of its head appeared from the fading flame and smoke (Level: 6/ATK: 2800/DEF: 1800).

"A powerful monster like this does come with a drawback," admitted Fred, "It loses 500 ATK for each other monster I control."

'Infernal Incinerator' became weaker due to the presence of 'Cyber Blader' (ATK: 2800 → 2300).

"But that doesn't bother me in the slightest, because I have other ways to make my monster stronger!" declared Fred, pointing upward at one of his cards. The card in-question turned out to be a Spell Card known as 'Blustering Winds', "Spell Card, 'Blustering Winds'! I must target 1 face-up monster I control; it gains 1000 ATK and DEF until my next Standby Phase."

From there, a great gust of wind blew across the field, causing 'Infernal Incinerator' to grow stronger (ATK: 2300 → 3300/DEF: 1800 → 2800).

"Ha ha! Lord Fred is gonna reduce the girl's LP to 2000 with his attacks!" laughed one of the Truck members.

And that's what was about to happen…

"Battle!" boomed Fred, "'Infernal Incinerator', you're up first! Attack Mavis directly!"

'Infernal Incinerator' obeyed, launching a powerful blast of flames towards Mavis, striking her head on, causing her to cry out in pain as she managed to stay on her feet (LP: 7400 → 4100).

"And there's more!" cackled Fred, "'Cyber Blader', attack your former master directly! Glissade Slash!"

Against her will, 'Cyber Blader, skated over the field and kicked at Mavis with her skated foot (LP: 4100 → 2000).

"This is the best you have?" taunted Fred, watching as his opponent clutched at her side (where she was struck), "Man, oh man, I'm shaking in my boots!"

"Keep laughing…" muttered Mavis angrily, "I might have 2000 LP left, but I'm just getting started," She drew a card, "It's my turn! Draw!"

Turn Four: Mavis Drewry (LP: 2000)
Deck: 51
Current Hand (4): "Fulfillment of the Contract", "Machine Angel Absolute Ritual", "Prima Light", and "Pot of Greed"

"Ah-ah!" cut in Fred mockingly, "Remember my Continuous Spell 'Infernal White'? You receive 600 more damage during your Standby Phase!"

Mavis grunted as she took another shot of damage from 'Infernal White' (LP: 2000 → 1400).

"I activate my own copy of 'Pot of Greed'!" declared Mavis, holding her drawn card out. She then drew two more cards, "I must draw 2 cards."

Her cards were 'Heritage of the Light' (Spell Card) and 'Cyber Egg Angel' (Effect Monster Card).

"Perfect!" thought Mavis, realizing a strategy with most of the cards in her hand. To that, she took and held another card ('Cyber Egg Angel'), "I Summon 'Cyber Egg Angel' in Defense Position!"

Appearing onto the field was a large, green egg with angelic wings (Level: 2/ATK: 200/DEF: 300).

"'Cyber Angel Egg's' special ability," continued Mavis, drawing a card ('Ritual Sanctuary'), "If this card is Summoned: I can add 1 'Machine Angel' Spell or 1 'Ritual Sanctuary' from my Deck to my hand. I can only use this effect of 'Cyber Egg Angel' once per turn."

"Hmph! Pathetic!" huffed Fred, "I use this opportunity to activate 'Infernal Incinerator's' first effect! It gains 200 ATK for each monster my opponent controls."

'Infernal Incinerator' grew stronger from this (ATK: 3300 → 3500).

"An ATK of 3500 won't be easy to overcome," Mavis told herself, but then readied to play another card ('Ritual Sanctuary'), "But still, I…" She motioned her card near the Field Zone, "I activate a Field Spell!"

The Field Zone opened up, and she inserted her card, causing the zone to close back up.

"What the-?" gasped Fred, looking all around.

The whole area started turning into what looked like a wedding chapel of sorts. While that was going on, Toby was a good distance away and looking around for where Mavis could be when he finally took notice of the scenery change.

"I recognize that chapel area…" he realized, running forward, "Mavis must be in a duel! Mavis!"

The Truck members on Mavis's side of the bridge overheard the voice, but before they could act, Toby pushed through the small crowd without even seeing who he was pushing through.

"Mavis!" yelled Toby.

"Toby?" whispered Mavis, before turning around with a frantic look on her face, "No! Get away from here! These guys are…"

Before she could finish her warning, she saw that two of the Truck members took hold of Toby, who only realized at that moment who they really were.

"You!" Toby cried out, "You're the Troublesome Trucks who tried to murder me years ago!"

"Finally figured it out, punk?" joked one of the Truck members, "In that case, why don't you join your dueling girl in what could be her final match ever?!"

With that said, he and his comrade threw Toby onto the bridge and right beside Mavis.

"Mavis, I'm so glad you're okay!" said Toby in relief, managing to return to his feet. He shuddered where he was standing due to it bringing back unpleasant memories of years ago, "Although I wish it were in a better place…"

"So do I," agreed Mavis, "It doesn't help knowing that they plan to kill me even 'if' I win…" From there, she returned her focus to the duel, "Still, I'm going to find a way to save us both."

"We dare you to try that!" dared Fred, "Now, continue with your turn!"

"Very well!" accepted Mavis, taking a card ('Prima Light') and sending it to the GY, "I can discard 1 Spell; I must add 1 LIGHT Ritual Monster or 1 Ritual Spell from my Deck to my hand," She then took another card from her Deck and looked at it, "You're what I'll need for the first part of my plan…"

"Mavis…" worried Toby.

At last, Mavis made another move…

"I activate the second effect of 'Ritual Sanctuary'!" she announced, holding two cards ('Polymerization' and 'Prima Light') before shuffling them into the Deck, "I can shuffle any number of Spells from my GY into the Deck, then target 1 LIGHT Fairy monster in my GY whose Level equals the number of cards I shuffled into the Deck; I must Special Summon it."

"You shuffled two worthless Spell Cards into your Deck," remarked Fred, "That allows you to Special Summon a Level 2 monster from your GY!"

"Correct," confirmed Mavis, before her GY started glowing all white, "Resurrect, 'Cyber Petit Angel'!"

Reappearing on the field was 'Cyber Petit Angel' (Level: 2/ATK: 300/DEF: 200), while 'Infernal Incinerator' grew stronger again (ATK: 3500 → 3700).

"Since 'Cyber Petit Angel' was Summoned successfully, I'll add a 'Machine Angel Ritual' from my Deck into my hand!" reminded Mavis, drawing another card ('Machine Angel Ritual') and looking at it, "Good."

"With two monsters on your field, the ATK of 'Cyber Blader' is doubled!" warned Fred, "Not to mention 'Infernal Incinerator' gains more ATK due to there being more monsters on your field, therefore giving it an ATK of 3700!"

From there. 'Cyber Blader' began to grow, not just in strength, but in size too (ATK: 2100 → 4200).

"My turn's just beginning!" insisted Mavis, before holding another card ('Machine Angel Absolute Ritual'), "I activate the Ritual Spell 'Machine Angel Absolute Ritual'! This card can be used to Ritual Summon any 'Cyber Angel' Ritual Monster. I must also Tribute monsters from my hand or field and/or shuffle Fairy or Warrior monsters from my GY into the Deck, whose total Levels exactly equal the Level of the Ritual Monster I Ritual Summon," A card ('Etoile Cyber') ejected from her GY, which she took and held out along with her already present 'Cyber Egg Angel' Monster Card, "By offering 'Cyber Egg Angel' as a Tribute and shuffling 'Etoile Cyber' into my Deck, I'll Ritual Summon 'Cyber Angel Benten' in Attack Position!"

Reappearing onto the field was 'Etoile Cyber', who, along with 'Cyber Egg Angel', faded away in a blue streak. Appearing onto the field in the place of the two previous monsters, was the 'Cyber Angel' wielding weaponized fans (Level: 6/ATK: 1800/DEF: 1500). With Mavis being back to controlling one monster, 'Cyber Blader's' ATK fell back to its original amount (ATK: 4200 → 2100).

"Mavis, I sincerely hope you know what you're doing," prayed Toby quietly, "You only have 1400 LP left."

"It will be okay," reassured Mavis, before turning back around to face Fred. She then held another card ('Machine Angel Ritual') out, "I activate another Ritual Spell, 'Machine Angel Ritual'! This card can be used to Ritual Summon any 'Cyber Angel' Ritual Monster. I must also Tribute monsters from my hand or field whose total Levels equal or exceed the Level of the Ritual Monster I Ritual Summon," While she continued speaking, both 'Cyber Angel Benten' and 'Cyber Petit Angel' vanished into blue streaks, "This time, I'll Tribute my Level 6 'Benten' and Level 2 'Cyber Petit Angel' in order to Ritual Summon the Level 6 'Cyber Angel Idaten' in Attack Position!"

Appearing onto the field in the place of both monsters, was the pink skinned 'Cyber Angel' monster (Level: 6/ATK: 1600/DEF: 2000). With one less monster being on Mavis's side of the field, 'Infernal Incinerator's' ATK dropped slightly (ATK: 3700 → 3500).

"The first effect of 'Idaten'!" announced Mavis, drawing a card ('Machine Angel Absolute Ritual'), "If this card is Ritual Summoned: I can add 1 Ritual Spell from my Deck or GY to my hand."

"Tch! Are you done yet?" scoffed Fred, "The boys are anxious for me to win, and then send you and your boyfriend for a very long swim."

"I'm far from being finished," said Mavis firmly, before slotting another card into her Duel Disk, "From my hand, I'll activate an Equip Spell!"

Materializing face-up on the field was a Spell Card known as 'Fulfillment of the Contract'.

"'Fulfillment of the Contract'!" The voice of Mavis exclaimed. She then motioned her right hand about and paid most of her remaining LP (LP: 1400 → 600), "I must activate this card by paying 800 LP, then target 1 Ritual Monster in my GY; I must Special Summon it and equip it with this card. When this card is destroyed, I must banish the equipped monster."

Reappearing onto the field was 'Cyber Angel Benten' (Level: 6/ATK: 1800/DEF: 1500). Since Mavis controlled two monsters again, 'Cyber Blader's' ATK was doubled once more (ATK: 2100 → 4200). Not only that, 'Infernal Incinerator's' ATK went up again, too (ATK: 3500 → 3700).

"Oh man, what a foolish girl," Another of the Truck members complained, "Her monsters don't have the power to match those of 'Infernal Incinerator' and that stolen 'Cyber Blader'."

"He's right," agreed Fred, "Your 'Cyber Angels' don't have enough strength to defeat 'my' monsters, and you're down to just 600 LP. And even if there was a slight chance you'll win, we're still gonna kill ya. So why delay the inevitable?"

"Toby and I 'won't' die," retorted Mavis, "Even if we do fall into the river, I intend to die 'fighting' and 'winning'!"

"Well then, it's 'your' funeral!" remarked Fred, "Now finish up your last turn already!"

"Fine!" From there, Mavis took and held yet another card ('Heritage of the Light') out, "Continuous Spell, 'Heritage of the Light', activate! If a monster is Ritual, Fusion, Synchro, or Xyz Summoned, while a monster with the same card type (Ritual, Fusion, Synchro, or Xyz) is on the field: I can draw 1 card. I can only use this effect of 'Heritage of the Light' once per turn."

Fred frowned, while the Truck members on his side of the bridge wondered what good that card would do for Mavis. Finally, Mavis readied one of the last cards within the index and middle fingers of her right hand.

"The pride of my very soul…" whispered Mavis, closing her eyes tightly, "I will win by using this card…" She opened her eyes fiercely and slotted the card into a Spell & Trap Zone on her Duel Disk, which caused another copy of the 'Machine Angel Absolute Ritual' Spell Card to materialize face-up onto the field, "I activate a second copy of 'Machine Angel Absolute Ritual'!"

"Another of those weak 'Cyber Angel' monsters?" sighed Fred in annoyance, "Come on, you know they won't be of any help to you."

"Are you sure about that?" asked Mavis.

"Huh?"

"First," The blonde-haired girl proceeded, pointing at her 'Cyber Angel Idaten' already on the field, "I'm going to Tribute my Level 6 'Cyber Angel Idaten'…" She then held out a card ('Blade Skater') she took from her GY, "…and shuffle the Level 4 'Blade Skater' from my GY back into my Deck."

"Level 6 along with Level 4 makes it Level 10…" uttered Toby, before remembering something very big, "Can it be?"

Suddenly, a spotlight seemed to shine down on the center of the field

"Ladies and gentlemen!" announced Mavis, as though she were the hostess of some sort of stage show, "I present, for your entertaining pleasure, the greatest dancer in Duel Monsters' history! The one… the only… 'Cyber Angel Vrash'!"

"What the hell?" gawked Fred.

From there, the spotlights started to shine onto the stage as a Summon Chant soon followed…

"Angel of light hiding eternal power. Now show your form to this vast world, and illuminate all creation!" changed Mavis, all with a big smile on her face, "Ritual Summon! Descend, Level 10! 'Cyber Angel Vrash'!"

Someone started to rise from the hole in the middle of the stage. It was perhaps the strongest, and curviest, 'Cyber Angel' of them all. She was dressed in a purple and pink outfit with a large golden circle on her back, four golden wings by her legs, and four arms (Level: 10/ATK: 3000/DEF: 2000).

"What?!" A fifth Truck member bellowed, "She pulls that card now of all times?!"

Mavis smiled, "Thanks to the effect of 'Heritage of the Light'," she reminded, drawing a card, "I get to draw a card since I Ritual Summoned while also controlling a Ritual Monster."

Her drawn card was a Spell Card known as 'Magnificent Machine Angel', planning to save it for later on.

"And now, I'll activate the second effect of the 'Cyber Angel Idaten' I Tributed," Mavis went on, "If this card is Tributed: I can make all Ritual Monsters I control gain 1000 ATK/DEF."

Without wasting a second, both 'Cyber Angel Benten' (ATK: 1800 → 2800/DEF: 1500 → 2500) and 'Cyber Angel Vrash' (ATK: 3000 → 4000/DEF: 2000 → 3000) gained much strength, with the latter now being stronger than 'Infernal Incinerator' (ATK: 3700).

"Why you…!" grunted Fred.

"If you don't like 'that', you'll definitely hate 'this' more!" Mavis chuckled ruthully. While speaking about her monster, the little orbs on 'Cyber Angel Vrash's' giant ring started lighting up, "I activate 'Vrash's' first effect! If this card is Ritual Summoned: I can destroy as many face-up monsters my opponent controls as possible that were Special Summoned from the Extra Deck, and if I do, inflict 1000 damage to my opponent for each, and if I do that, this card can make a second attack during each Battle Phase this turn."

'Cyber Angel Vrash' waited for the effect name to be announced—and announced it was…

"Ascension Burst!" commanded Mavis, pointing at her opponent's field.

With the command finally given, 'Cyber Angel Vrash' fired small spheres of light from her large ring high into the sky. The spheres then rained upon 'Cyber Blader', striking her repeatedly and causing her to explode from destruction. Fred scowled as his LP dropped some more (LP: 7200 → 6200). But while Fred lost a monster, it did result in 'Infernal Incinerator' regaining the ATK it lost from its own effect (ATK: 3700 → 4200).

"You've just sealed your own fate!" Fred declared in anger, as his final face-down card flipped up and revealed itself, "Face-down card, open! Trap Card, 'Chthonian Blast', activate! When a face-up monster I control is destroyed and sent to the GY: I must destroy the 1 face-up monster on the field that has the lowest ATK (my choice, if tied), and if I do, inflict damage to both players equal to half of that monster's ATK," He laughed victoriously while pointing at his opponent's field, "Although I'll take some damage from this, your LP will run out and make me the winner!"

"Is that so?" quizzed Mavis ominously, which caused the spiky black-haired young man to ease up. She then smirked, "The second effect of 'Cyber Angel Vrash' will be activated now!" As she spoke on, 'Cyber Angel Vrash' made her whole ring glow all gold, "Once per turn, when a card or effect is activated that would destroy a card on the field (Quick Effect): I can shuffle 1 Ritual Monster from my GY into the Deck; I must negate the activation, and if I do, destroy that card."

"What?!" cringed Fred.

From there, the golden ring emitted a powerful barrier of light, protecting 'Cyber Angel Vrash', Mavis, and Toby from the flames, and causing the face-up 'Chthonian Blast' Trap Card to short out and disintegrate.

"That's not fair!" One of the Truck members whined, "That's too broken of an effect!"

"Yeah, Lord Fred should have won with his Trap Card!" added the third Truck member.

"Now he's going to lose to a girl!" wailed the fourth Truck member.

"Relax, you guys," comforted the second Truck member, "Those two won't be going anywhere even if the boss 'does' lose, remember? Our revenge is all guaranteed."

Back on the field, Mavis was far from being finished with preparing to retake control of the duel—scratch that, she wasn't done preparing to win the duel.

"Battle!" declared Mavis, entering her Battle Phase.

"Say what?" gawked Fred, "Your monster's weaker, yet you're going to attack?"

'Cyber Angel Vrash', meanwhile, obeyed the initial command, and prepared to attack 'Infernal Incinerator'.

"Mavis, what are you thinking?" Toby asked anxiously, "Are you aware that 'Vrash' only has an ATK of 4000, and is about to attack a monster with an ATK of 4200?"

"Just trust me," replied Mavis calmly, "I still have one card left to play," She showed her worried boyfriend her last card ('Magnificent Machine Angel') with a small grin now on her face, "And it's the one I drew not that long ago."

Seeing the card, Toby started to grow very hopeful. From there, Mavis slotted her final card into a Spell & Trap Zone on her Duel Disk. This caused the 'Magnificent Machine Angel' Spell Card to materialize face-up on the field.

"I activate the Quick-Play Spell 'Magnificent Machine Angel'!" bellowed Mavis, "I must Tribute 1 'Cyber Angel' Ritual Monster from my hand or field, then target 1 LIGHT Fairy monster I control; it gains ATK/DEF equal to the Level the monster had when Tributed x 200, until the end of this turn."

"Since you control two such monsters, you're gonna offer the weaker one to give your stronger one a much needed power boost!" realized Fred, not being happy at all.

And that's what happened; 'Cyber Angel Idaten' gave her life up and transferred her power to 'Cyber Angel Vrash', making her more than powerful enough to finally defeat 'Infernal Incinerator' (ATK: 4000 → 5200), while also making the enemy monster slightly weaker (ATK: 4200 → 4000). With her newly gained power, 'Cyber Angel Vrash' fired energy from her four arms, striking 'Infernal Incinerator' and causing it to explode from its destruction. Fred braced himself from the backlash of the explosion and grunted in pain as he also sustained a high amount of damage in the process (LP: 6200 → 5000).

"However, I should warn you that 'Vrash' is able to attack twice this turn!" Mavis pointed out, "This means you're done!"

"C-Crap! You're right!" panicked Fred (LP: 5000).

"'Cyber Angel Vrash', attack the enemy player directly!" The voice of Mavis hollered.

Overhearing the command while already preparing to attack, 'Cyber Angel Vrash' was more than happy to obey it. She jumped into the air and dove down towards Fred, striking him, which resulted in the spiky black-haired young man shouted in defeat as his LP gauge fell victim to a One Turn Kill strategy (LP: 5000 → 0).

DUEL RESULTS: Mavis Drewry wins!

With the duel over, 'Cyber Angel Vrash' faded away. Although he had lost, Fred, on his knees, looked back towards the gang.

"Kill them!" he ordered, "Now! Destroy this bridge!"

And that's what the Troublesome Trucks on both ends started doing, even with their boss still on it (they didn't even wait for him to get off). The Truck members all started chanting "Break the beam! Send them for a swim!" as they got out large hammers and started bashing on the old wooden bridge from top to bottom in an attempt to destroy it.

"Wait! Stop!" cried Fred, "Don't do it while I'm still on it!"

But the Truck members didn't care who they killed so long as they got satisfaction from their revenge on Mavis.

"Well, Mavis… I guess this is it…" whimpered Toby, as he and Mavis embraced tightly, "This is really the end of us…"

"I know…" sighed Mavis sadly, "But whatever happens to us, I'm glad you came to save me."

Toby smiled in sadness. The bridge foundation was getting so weak that the whole structure started to collapse. Fred, meanwhile, was wailing over the fact he was going to die as well. Before anything more could happen, police sirens could be heard echoing…

"Huh?" pondered Toby.

The sirens grew louder and louder, and soon police cars were showing up in the area.

"What the-?! The police!?" One Truck member cried out.

"I knew it!" thought Mavis, seeming to smile.

The police quickly started uprehanding the Truck members in the area, while some of the lucky ones managed to get away before they were caught. Twenty minutes later, Toby, Mavis, and Fred each were being rescued, while the last one was arrested when Mavis explained that he (Fred) was the one who orchestrated the whole kidnapping scenario.

"How did you know where to find us?" asked Toby.

"You were trespassing in an unauthorized area," One of the police officers explained, "This place is too dangerous for activities such as dueling. When we saw some light shining in the sky about ten minutes ago while out for coffee, that was all we needed to know."

"It's a good thing I have some monsters that can produce such a thing," commented Mavis, looking at Fred cheekily, "You know, I really have you to thank for the duel challenge."

Fred scowled as he was led away.

"Challenging me to a duel was Fred's biggest mistake," Mavis added in briefly, looking back at the police and Toby, "Had he ordered those punks to toss me into the river while I was still passed out, they would have definitely succeeded," She then watched as Fred was loaded into a police car, "But from what we know about them, the Trucks love to make their victims suffer first, which is their biggest flaw as a group."

"Well, you two better get on home," Another police officer advised, "As we mentioned, this place is not safe to be at."

"Will do, officer," said Toby, "And thanks again for the rescue."

The two police officers gave the two teenagers a salute and then got back into their car before driving off with the other police cars. Mavis was so relieved to be safe and sound that she immediately took Toby by the hand.

"Toby, let's go home now," she requested softly.

"Yeah…" nodded Toby, "We'll rest for a little bit, and then get busy with making my family's special vegetable soup for dinner tonight."

With that said, he and Mavis left the area for home.

(elsewhere…)

Outside the apartment building later that night, Toby and Mavis both could be heard having a conversation.

"You know, Toby, I… I really haven't got the chance to genuinely thank you," The voice of Mavis began.

(inside…)

Inside the living room, Mavis and Toby were sitting at the dining room table after having dinner of the vegetable soup they made together. They had been quiet for the last couple of hours since their encounter with the Troublesome Trucks, but Mavis finally chose now to break the ice.

"Huh?" pondered Toby, "What for?"

"For opening my eyes to how much of a fool I was years ago," explained Mavis, "Had it not been for you, I would have never realized that Diesel was taking advantage of my feelings and desire for acceptance, and I would never have stopped acting like such a bully. I probably would have eventually been expelled thanks to Diesel's influences—or maybe not, but I would have forever been an outcast…"

Toby listened very carefully to the little speech.

"But then you got targeted by the Trucks when I was tricked into visiting them, just because I got angry at you for seemingly making me look foolish," As she started to finish her sentence, Mavis looked down shamefully, "To this day, I still regret almost getting you badly hurt or worse."

"It's okay," reassured Toby, placing his left hand on top of Mavis's hands, "That's all in the past now. You've changed for the better, and into someone I can love forever."

"Really?" peeped Mavis, staring into her boyfriend's eyes, "Do you mean that?"

"From the bottom of my heart," Toby replied, standing up while now holding onto the blonde-haired girl's hands, "I love you so much, Mavis."

Hearing this made Mavis begin to cry tears of joy. Standing up, she went around the table and leapt into Toby's arms. Before long, the two teenagers stared into each other's eyes for a few seconds before they started to kiss and make out. However, their feelings for each other slowly increased as the make out carried on, to the point they stopped kissing and approached Toby's bedroom, went inside, and closed the door.

(outside…)

Outside the apartment building, all remained very peaceful as an owl could be heard hooting and the night carried on. Eventually, morning came, with the sun beginning to rise and brighten up the city.

(inside…)

Inside Toby's room, the sun rays shone through the window while Toby and Mavis both laid in bed under the covers with the former on the right side and the latter on the left side, and in a corner of the room were their clothes and underwear. As it turned out, Toby and Mavis were so in-love that they made the big decision to take it further and actually made love into the late night. Mavis slowly started to wake up from the sunshine on her face. When she finally did, she turned and noticed that Toby was still asleep on the other side. Smiling, Mavis squirmed on over and stopped nearby Toby's ear.

"Toby…? Toby, it's time to wake up," whispered Mavis.

"Mmm…" stirred Toby, happy to have heard that lovely voice, "It's morning already?"

"Yup," Mavis said sweetly, as her brown-haired boyfriend then laid on his back and she carefully laid on top of him (both with the covers concealing their respective nudity), "But let's just stay like this for a little bit longer. Last night was something so special."

"I know," agreed Toby, "I don't regret doing what we did, and I will never forget it."

"Me neither."

The couple then shared another passionate kiss. Although they didn't regret the love making, they still had to wonder what their friends would say the next time they saw them.

(elsewhere…)

"Whaaaaat?!" Emily, Rosie, and Molly all shrieked.

At the Knapford indoor pool, Mavis had finished telling her friends how she encountered the Troublesome Trucks and Fred Pelhay, returned to the same scene where Toby almost died a long time ago, and what she and Toby did during that night. All four girls were in their swimsuits and hanging out in the hot tub.

"Mavis, I can't believe you… you…" Rosie tried to say.

Mavis only grinned, "What? Weren't you the one who encouraged it, though?" she teased, "I seem to remember your words about Toby and I not being intimate even though we're living in the same building."

"But I was kidding about that!" spluttered Rosie.

"Mavis, I…really don't get it," said Molly shyly, "You're the last girl I know who would willingly give up her virginity at either the age of 16 or 17."

"As I said, our recent encounter with the Trucks gang made Toby and I realize just how much we're meant for each other," Mavis said, remembering both moments where she and Toby got into contact with the Troublesome Trucks, "First I saved him years ago, and then he saved me most recently. After that, we just couldn't keep our feelings truly concealed."

"Well, despite us being very surprised by what you did, we're still very happy for you two," proclaimed Emily, placing a hand on Mavis's shoulder.

Mavis could only smile at the dark green-haired girl's support, and her smile broadened when Rosie and Molly both finally admitted their support as well.

(elsewhere…)

At the arcade, Toby was hanging out with Thomas, Stanley, and James and telling them about how Mavis was kidnapped by the Troublesome Trucks, he arrived at the old bridge to try and save her when it was the same place he almost died at when he was younger, and how he and Mavis made love during that night afterwards.

"Those Trucks…" uttered Stanley.

"Forget about the Trucks!" interrupted James, who then grabbed Toby by the shirt collar, "What we need to know is who you are, and what have you done with Toby?"

"James?" blinked Thomas, sounding a little deadpan, "That is Toby."

"No, it can't be him," refused James, shaking his head, "If that's Toby, then he would have not allowed any girl to get him laid—especially at the age of 17."

"Listen, James, I know this is shocking to you and the others, but it's the truth," insisted Toby, not fazed by the fact his red-haired friend was being a little rough on him, "Mavis means the whole world to me, and I mean the whole world to her."

"And besides," added Stanley, looking at James, "wouldn't you have done the same for Molly if she was the one who got kidnapped by the Trucks?"

James flinched, "Alright, alright," he groaned in defeat, "You've made your point."

"If I may say, you've really shown us a side of you we never expected to ever hear about," remarked Thomas, "Regardless of that, we're still happy for you."

"For sure," agreed Stanley brightly, "If the other guys were here at this time, they would probably agree."

"I guess," sighed James.

Toby just beamed with pride. What he and Mavis both did not know was their initial love making was going to bring about some big changes to their lives.

(elsewhere…)

A few months later at the Ffarquhar Clinic, Thomas, Emily, Mr. Holden, Mrs. Holden, Mrs. Drewry, Mavis's Step-Father, and even both Bill and Ben were all patiently waiting inside the waiting room. They heard that Mavis had been feeling unwell recently, so they decided to visit the clinic to give their support to her once it was found out what was making her ill.

"Mavis…" worried Mrs. Drewry.

"I'm sure Mavis is going to be okay, dear," reassured Mavis's Step-Father.

"Tommy," Emily whispered to Thomas, "I think I might know what's wrong with Mavis… Remember the same thing happened to me, Anastasia, in our previous lives."

Thomas didn't say a word, but he did seem to recall what the illness was really about.

(inside…)

Inside one of the offices, Dr. Jongh and Rosie (who was still volunteering for the clinic) were busy going over the paperwork regarding Mavis's current condition after also giving her a few medical examinations. Mavis, with her shirt pulled up enough to expose her tummy, sat on the table with her left hand placed on her stomach, while Toby stood and held onto his girlfriend's right hand to try and keep her spirits up. Nobody seemed to say a word throughout the entire time. Eventually, both Dr. Jongh and Rosie turned to face their patient as the former gave the news…

"Well, Mavis," began Dr. Jongh, "we finally figured out what's wrong with you…"

(outside…)

Back in the waiting room a few minutes later, Mavis and Toby, followed by Rosie, finally returned.

"Well?" pressed Mr. Holden, looking at his silent son, "What's wrong with Mavis?"

Unfortunately, Toby didn't respond, so Mavis was forced to come clean on what was wrong with her.

"Well, you see, I…" Mavis started to say, before stopping for a moment to take a deep breath and then admitting the truth, "I'm pregnant."

"Whaaaaaaat?!" Bill and Ben cried out at the same time.

The parents were also stunned by what they were hearing, while Thomas and Emily both weren't nearly as surprised by the confession.

"Mavis, why?" asked Mrs. Drewry, now looking a bit disappointed in her daughter, "Why did you let this happen? You're still so young, and you've started attending university. You never even told us you and Toby got intimate."

"Toby, we're not mad, we're disappointed," Mrs. Holden was saying to Toby, "What could you have been thinking?"

Toby and Mavis both said nothing, as though they were becoming ashamed of making love that night of their final encounter with the Troublesome Trucks. Thomas and Emily, however, decided now to speak up in the defense of their two longtime friends.

"Listen, they made this big decision to take their relationship to the next level," began Thomas, "Back in early September, members of a group known as the Troublesome Trucks broke into their new home and kidnapped Mavis."

"They kidnapped her because she got their previous boss arrested a long time ago," put in Emily, "They never forgot that, and finally decided to strike back. When Toby returned from his delivery duty, he found Mavis not at home and went out to find her."

Initially a little surprised that Thomas and Emily were defending them, Toby and Mavis finally decided to continue the explanation from there.

"My search took me to an old wooden bridge, the same place I once almost died at," said Toby, as Thomas and Emily both fell into silence and Mr. and Mrs. Holden both looked at each other for a second before they turned and listened on, "Mavis had been forced into a duel against Fred Pelhay, the Trucks' new boss. They were going to destroy the bridge and make her fall into the river regardless of her winning or losing, and when I arrived I was forced onto the bridge. As a result, we were left with no way out."

"But using the effect of my 'Cyber Angel Vrash' during the duel, I was unknowingly able to signal the police to the area just as the Trucks were going to destroy the old bridge and make us both fall," Mavis added in, "When we got home, we remained quiet for most of the day until after we finished having dinner. There we talked things out, and then… and then…"

She didn't get any further as she finally allowed some tears to fall. Gathering more courage than he thought he had, Toby took Mavis by her hands and then looked at their respective families with an absolutely serious look on his face.

"We now know that it was wrong for us to do what we did at this young of an age, but let me promise every single one of you," The brown-haired boy was saying, "No matter how difficult it will be for us for a number of reasons, I solemnly swear to standby Mavis and support her throughout this pregnancy period and make sure the kid is looked after. If none of you wish to support us, so be it."

There was a very, very long silence from Thomas, Emily, Rosie, the Holdens, and the Drewrys—not even Bill nor Ben joked or teased the couple for their actions or the fact they got into trouble. After what seemed like forever, the two younger boys were surprisingly the first ones to speak up…

"Ben and I support you two," reassured Bill.

"What?" gasped Thomas, as did both Emily and Rosie.

"Yeah! We both freely admit we've often been a big pain in the butt towards Mavis," agreed Ben, "but we really do enjoy having her for an older Step-Sister. She's cool, and we both think that you are too, Toby. We would be more than happy to have you as a potential Step-Brother, if you ever decide to truly become a part of the family by marrying Mavis, one day."

"Bill… Ben…" whispered Mavis tearfully.

"Wow… That's really mature of you both to tell us," remarked Toby, feeling very touched.

"Thanks!" Bill grinned, while Ben winked, "We might be mischievous and cheeky most of the time, but we do have tons of compassion for our favorite, and not to mention only, Step-Sister."

And then to prove that they really meant every single word of that, Bill and Ben approached Mavis and hugged her tightly, causing her to return the hug. Mrs. Drewry could only weep over the heartwarming scene, while Mavis's Step-Father simply patted his wife's hands in comfort. Everyone else just smiled over it.

"Well, in light of what we heard from those two boys, I think it's clear where the rest of us stand," spoke up Mr. Holden, "While we still are unhappy you got Mavis pregnant, Toby, we have decided to support you two in any way we can."

"You can count on Emily and I, too," smiled Thomas.

"Don't forget about me," cut in Rosie brightly, "Not to mention I'm positive the rest of our friends will do whatever they can to help out once they hear the news."

Toby and Mavis just stared at each other lovingly, knowing this was all going to work out for them after all—they were going to become parents, and their friends and loved ones would definitely remain by their sides throughout the whole process.
