CHAPTER 17
ALEC'S POV
I stood next to my sister as we observed the Cullen's and their allies. I kept looking for Amelia but could not find her face in the crowd. I was happy she was not among them but was worried about where she was, I was surprised that the child wasn't immortal. I could hear the child's rapid heartbeat and see the flush of her cheeks as she touched Aro's cheek. Caius was angry and still wanted someone to die for causing all this but Aro wouldn't condone killing the Cullen's now that they have proven that they have not broken any laws. Caius instead turned to Irina, the one who had reported the crime. Caius ordered Felix to rip Irina's arms and head off before Caius set her on fire. I didn't care about what happened. The child wasn't an immortal, so the Cullens hadn't broken any laws, which means I wouldn't have destroyed Amelia's family.
Once Alice had shown up and showed Aro the future Aro backed off and decided that we would not fight at all. The witnesses we had gathered left right after Aro's decision not seeing a reason to stay now.
"There is something else."
Alice motioned for her mate to come to her and Aro. Alice's mate pulled something out of his pocket and handed it to her before she held it up by the gold chain.
"Amelia is gone. She went hunting in Canada with Carlisle, Esme, and Emmett but she never returned and I can't see her future anymore. I'm sorry."
I stared at the Volturi necklace, I couldn't move, I couldn't even reach out and grab the necklace, if I touched it then it would be real. My Amelia would really be gone. Jane moved from beside me and grabbed the necklace tucking it in her robe before gently taking my hand and pulled me along as we left the clearing. It felt like I was on autopilot as I let Jane pull me along behind the masters as we left the clearing. Jane's hand remained in mine until we were safely alone in our rooms back in Italy and there, there I let out all my rage. Destroying the room before collapsing on the floor, dry heaving as unshed venom tears gathered in my eyes. Looking at the bed that was untouched made my dead heart clench in pain, that was the last place I had her, my beautiful mate, I had only just found her, only had a sliver of forever before she was taken from me. I could feel the last part of my humanity, the part that she brought back, die. I was never going to allow myself to feel like this again, I was going to become stronger, and then I will find whoever took her from me and make them pay.
