Erin's pov; it's been a little over four years since I left Chicago so I could protect my mom I'm going to jail, which looking back I kind of regret because after three or four months of being in New York she went back to her old ways, put I current turn back after I left Chicago and the man I loved but the thing that made me really regret returning to Chicago was two or three weeks after coming to New York I found out I was pregnant, once the test showed me that I was pregnant I was scared I wasn't sure I could be an amazing mother but once I moved to New York I knew what I had to do and just do it and not look back like Hank said. Eight wonderful months later I gave birth to Emery Grace Lindsey halstead meaning that she is jay daughter although no one really knows but me and Hank and Platt because she is goes by the last name Lindsay she has been my world for the last 3 1/2 years right now I am at work finishing my paperwork for a big case we just solved after three weeks all sudden my phone starts to ring

E= OK well I am in New York so it's gonna take me about at least a day to get back to Chicago

Once the nurse hangs up I hurry up and finish my paperwork and then I head home so I can pack a bag for me and my daughter, on the way home I call and book us a ride to Chicago which will be in a couple hours I get home within 20 minutes when I walk in the door I hear my daughter and the nanny laughing about something

We go get things packed within 20 minutes and then we head off to the airport to meet Chloe we make it to the airport within 45 minutes and we all board our plane within a half an hour. We all live in Chicago in about three hours side decide to get a hotel for the night so we can get some sleep. The next morning

I go and find jay's room and white when I get close to his room I see somebody is exiting his room

Once she leaves I take the final few steps into Chase Williams and I see him lying in the bed in my heart absolutely chats because he looks a lot worse than I was thinking he was going to look so I decide to sit down and just watch him sleep for a little bit and wait on him to wake up. About five minutes later I hear footsteps coming so I turned around to see who it was

HV= so what brings you back to Chicago after these last few years
E= well after Justin died me and Jay beside we should make each other emergency contacts and I guess I thought he would change his emergency contact when I left but I guess he didn't so they called me and told me Jay was bought into the hospital so I jumped on a plane and got here like early in the morning
HV= well I'm happy to finally see you again
E= same here now I got a question for you hank
HV= you do what is it
E= so when the nurse called yesterday she said Jay was shot but when I walked in here he looked a lot worse especially since he got shot so what really happened to him
HV= all right I'll tell you the whole story but let's take a seat first
E= all right ( they sit Down)
HV= so about two months ago Jay was kind of convinced at this one guy named Marcus West was the one who did the killing of a couple little boys
E= what do you mean kind of convinced
HV= well our new superintendent had this new software he wanted to try out and it pin Marcus was to be the one who killed the little boys and Jay decided to go after him because that's what the software told us that he was guilty
E= of course he did
HV= well Jay decided to send him to county to see if that would help make him confess since we were not getting anywhere at the district with him
E= makes sense we do that all the time
HV= well I guess within a few hours of being in county Marcus West and getting beaten up and later died here at med
E= oh man that sucks so did Marcus west actually killed the little kids
HV= no he didn't it was someone else . The only bad thing about the new software that the superintendent wanted to use was it was more pinpointed on Black people so it wasn't the best software because it was kind of racist
E= of course it was so let me guess Jay blamed himself for getting Marcus to being killed
HV= I guess no matter how long you have been away from Jay you know him so well
E= I guess I do that's just who Jay is though
HV= well he blamed himself bad enough that he decided to hang out with Marcus's wife and child to make it up to them and then about four days ago he got kidnapped
E= are you kidding me he got kidnapped again
HV= well the mother angela stole some drugs from these bad guys a while back and the guys thought Jay knew something about where she was keeping them so they kidnapped them both and kept them down in the basement and kept beating them up to see if they can finally tell them where the drugs where
E= but of course Jay didn't tell them anything because well he didn't know anything and also he is trained to beaten and not say anything
HV= oh yeah well we finally found where they were held hostage and I guess Jay found a way out of his ties in restraints and started to find a way out of the warehouse they were at the eight up of that guy that was on guard and that's when we all showed up and then Haley went inside and found him, But then J decided once Haley could get control of the bad guy that he should go back down and check on angela but to chase knowledge what when he got down there Angela had a gun and shot him in the shoulder and the reason she shot him was because she just learned that Jay was the one who put Marcus in County and got him killed
E= are you freaking kidding me
J= ( starts to wake) what is all that noise

HV= when we were Getting ready to go after the guy I decided that it was trying to find the sideline J because he got to personal within the case
E= oh yeah
J= well when he sidelined me and left me behind I decided to call Kelly because Stella was actually hurt in the fire too so he wants to help find the person that caused this big fire

J= yes I am we are kind of friends now

J= yes well anyways when I found him I started chasing after him since he wanted to run

J= well after a few minutes of chasing him he started to point his gun and shoot at me so I shot back once we were both hit the ground after being shot I called over damn he had a pulse still so I called over the video that I needed back up.
HU= by the time me and Adam got to him the guy was dead
E= so how many times were you shot back then
J= I wish that twice back then
E= why wasn't I called when you were shot back then
WH= it's because when he was shot his vest was on and it protected him from getting shot in the chest
E= well that's good but I have one question for you Haley
HU= you do what is it
E= where were you when he got shot back then and also where were you in the moment he got shot a couple days ago
HU= What do you mean where was I didn't hang and J tell you what happened both times he was shot
E= yes I heard them but as his partner you shouldn't have let him be alone
HU= that is unbelievable you asked me where I was when he was shot but you haven't been here for four years so you don't know anything about our partnership
E= i'll give you that yes I haven't been here in a couple years but me and Jay are great early on in our partnership to never go in without back up I guess he never mentioned that well to you when you guys became partners

Once I leave Chicago med I head straight to my hotel to see my little girl how to what just happened all I need is to see her to get my mood to change back to happy which it does I once I see her. We decided to leave our hotel and head to Hanks house but we decide to stop and pick up some lunch before we get there. About two hours later I hear Hank coming in

E= She is my nanny I thought that I should bring her along with me just in case I need her to watch Little Emery for a second

KB= Well when the guys first put it in the basement and left us I wanted to get out of the basement as soon as possible but she told me to sit still and wait for everyone to shop to get us but when the guys took me somewhere so I can call Adam I came back and she was beating up and had No more zip ties on her she had actual chains and locks on her hands and feet. I guess she decided to trick the guy and try to get out but she lost in the guy decided she needed stronger restraints

KB= oh yeah then after we were rescued she wanted to tell me why she and Adam decided they wanted to keep the relationship a secret

KB= So I guess I before she may detect if she was sleeping with her boss

KB= well anyways once we found the person in charge of doing all this I was heading home and me and Adam had this unspoken connection for a second and we went to my place and had sex
E= and I guess that is when you guys decided to make a baby all of a sudden

Over the next couple hours I gave Kim all the advice I wish somebody gave me when I was pregnant with Emery and had her, we also catch up a bit then she decided to head home to go to bed while me and Emery Head upstairs to bed ourselves and I decided to let her sleep in my bed with me. Tomorrow will be a big day for both of us, the next Day I just spent time with Emery by taking her to local parks and shopping later on we were at Hanks house just watching some TV together

Hank leaves and we play with Emery for a little bit then we put her to bed we stay up and talk for a while just we connecting to each other, we finally fell asleep about three hours later, The next day we all wake up and eat breakfast together Hank had to leave early to get to the district to get some things done once we get done eating me and Emery go upstairs to get dressed then we all drive to wills house so Jicha change his clothes once he was changed we all hopped in the car and headed to the district.

We all celebrate me coming back to work and me and Jay getting back together, we stay for a couple hours and then head to Hanks house to pack a few things so that we can get on the plane tonight and go back to New York to pack her things to head back to Chicago for good. Within six months that pain back me and Jake get married, Wind up having three more kids names jadien jasmin and Everett and we live happily ever after.
Authors note: so I technically did another one shot based off of season seven episode 10 but it was different.
