A/N: Hey guys, how's it going? I hope you're having a good day, and if not then I hope this helps a bit. Anyway, I hope you enjoy this instalment of Hello! My Name Is…
Charlotte's POV
I arrived at English and sat in my usual spot with my friends, Abby, Jess, and Autumn. Abby seemed to fiddle with her very long black hair a lot as she was doing now. I always found it slightly odd, but each to their own.
I couldn't help but notice Liam sitting by himself next to the window. He was just zoned out staring out of the window, until the bell brought him back to reality that is. He quickly scanned the room until his gaze met with mine and we shared a smile and a wave, and I also noticed Humphrey hadn't arrived yet, which I find weird, he's usually here by now.
Speaking of the devil, bursting through the door panting like he just sprinted four hundred metres.
"Humphrey! You're late!" Mr Fryer grunted out. He hated it whenever someone was even a millisecond late.
"S-sorry… sir…" Humphrey said trying to regain his breath. He eventually stopped panting and said, "I got caught up with the principal sir." Mr Fryer rolled his eyes and motioned for him to sit down. Humphrey nodded and made his way to sit next to Liam. He plopped himself down in the chair next to Liam's and just sat there with his eyes closed for a bit, still breathing heavily, just not panting. I have no clue what the principal would've wanted with him, but I wasn't one to question it so I just dropped it.
"Now everyone," Mr Fryer sternly said, "Today you are starting your practice essay for your persuasive essay." The class erupted with groaning students, unsurprisingly.
After school
The final bells of the day sounded, telling us it was time to go home. Today was such as miserable day. Tuesday's have the worst timetable, in my opinion. However, at least as every day passes, we get one step closer to Friday.
Unfortunately, Fate thought that a boring day wasn't enough as it was pouring down with rain, and I have no ride home, since Humphrey's going to Salty's he's going with him, and both mum and dad were working. Since the bus home usually takes half an hour to get to the school, and then another half an hour to get home, I wasn't in much of a great mood. I just started walking down the road to the bus stop and didn't even get halfway there before an older Holden Commodore pulled up beside me and the window rolled down.
"Hey Charlotte," Liam said poking his head out of the window, "It's a little bit wet at the moment, isn't it?" All I could do is nod and he chuckled a bit. "Now get in before you get hypothermia, it's bloody cold," He said still chuckling, as I went around the other side and hopped in.
"Thanks Liam," I said with a smile.
"It's no problem, really," He said returning the smile, "Now, without being a creep, if I'm gonna get you home I might want to know where you live."
"Oh, yeah that might be useful. It's 121 Collinder Ave. Need directions?"
"No, I'm fine. I have a good idea where that is," he said putting it into gear and setting off. He pulled of the side of the road and turned through some intersections and side roads, making it home in a very timely fashion.
"I didn't know you could go that way," I said, surprised, "It's a quite a bit shorter than the way I go."
"Haha, learn something new every day," He jokingly said, and we shared a quick laugh. I don't even know how I've been here eighteen years and he already knows more about these roads than I do.
"Do you want to come in? I'm sure my parents would love to meet you," I asked, and he paused for a little bit, considering it.
"Sure, why not. I'm on my own for the time being so I have time," he said turning the car off and taking the keys out. Locking the car on the way inside the building.
"Mum! Dad! I'm home!" I shouted, dropping my bag next to the door on the way in, it still being soaked from the rain.
"Hey honey," Mum said, "I'm just in the kitchen." I turned to Liam and motioned for him to follow me. All he was doing was admiring the house. It wasn't anything spectacular but it wasn't anything small either.
"I've brought someone home," I said, entering the kitchen with Liam following suit, mum finishing up with the dishes and turned to face us from the sink. Her face lit up the moment she saw Liam. I knew what she was thinking, and I know Liam did too, because he turned into a tomato. I just stared at her with a look that just said 'no,' as that was basically the only thing I could muster. Soon enough Liam broke the silence in the room.
"I'm Liam. It's nice to meet you ma'am," He said holding out his hand for a handshake. She happily accepted it.
"It's nice to meet you too, Liam," she said with a smile on her face, Liam happily returning the smile. They started chatting for a bit but soon after I heard a car pull in the driveway and surely enough it was dad.
"Hey honey, " Mum said as he opened the front door, "How was work?"
"Same old, same old. Just a lot of packing the coils, getting ready them for shipping," He said. He worked at the Steel Mill a couple kilometres out of town. He walked into the kitchen to see Liam chatting with my mum which the latter of the two looked into the door frame of the kitchen and saw him there, walking up giving a hug and a they shared a quick kiss.
"So how was your day?" He asked looking her in the eyes.
"It was alright, just tiding up the house," she said releasing her grasp on him, "Oh and this is Liam, one of Charlotte's friends."
"It's nice to meet you Mr Wilkes," Liam said, holding out his hand once again for a handshake, which my dad happily accepted.
"You too, and please call me Rob, only my associates call me Mr Wilkes," he said with a chuckle. Liam merely nodded in response.
"Oh, Liam, since you're here, you mind helping me with something?" I asked him, remembering some homework for Maths that I needed help with.
"Sure, what do you need help with?" He asked, following me out of the kitchen and to my bedroom. I pulled out my maths work and pointed to one of the questions I was unsure about, "Do we subtract or divide when trying to do this one? I couldn't figure it out at all."
"I actually need to do that work, so we may as well do it together," he said, chuckling.
Lilly's POV
"Alright girls, I think that's enough for today. I will see you next week," the Coach said as we left towards the changing rooms.
'I need to drop out of cheerleading,' I thought to myself as I sighed. Jillian, the cheer captain, would always pluck out every little mistake half of the girls made, and most of the time it turned to be completely unnecessary. I had lost a lot of the enjoyment I had in it so I found it quite difficult to stay motivated for it. I mean yeah, it's good to know when you make a mistake but sometimes it's just excessive.
We arrived at the changing room rather quickly as it was a short walk. I was getting changed out of the cheer uniform until I over-heard some of the girls talking about all the try-outs that happened to be on Friday.
"I wonder if Hutch will make the basketball team this year," April said, "He kinda bombed a little bit last year. He just wasn't as good as he was the year before."
"Yeah he really did drop a bit," Candy replied, "But I'm more interested in football try-outs. I wonder if Humphrey will be starting. He was really good last year."
"He can catch really well and he's really quick too. It's a shame Garth never throws the damn ball," Millie chipped in, scoffing Garth's name.
"Apparently there's a new kid who's gonna try take his spot, I don't know his name though. I just over-heard someone talk about it. Some kid from Australia I think?" Candy said.
"I'm interested to see how that goes. Maybe the team might see more than just that cocksucker running the ball," Millie said.
"If he does take his spot, Garth will be pissed. I know it for a fact," April said, sounding a little worried, "If he pulls through Garth will want to kick his ass."
"Garth doesn't deserve to be starting, let alone on the team at all. He just isn't a team player," Millie scoffed once again.
I wasn't entirely sure what they were talking about. I'm not massively into sports, as I only really like to dance. I barely even know what football is let alone what all the positions mean. The only reason I even know it's a sport is because dad watches it all the time and I'm usually cheering for the games. It would be a good change actually, like they said Garth never gives up the ball, so it's usually just everyone watching him run with the ball, it's really not that interesting to watch, plus they went 3-9 last year because he never passed. So many games were lost because he was too selfish. Always had the same excuse, "It's just not my time this time." Maybe we might see a change this year. It would be good to see something different for once. All you ever see is Garth diving for the end-zone, maybe it's time to see someone else do it.
