Liam's POV

Saturday. It's about time the weekend hit. Finally get to relax. It's been an interesting first week to say the least. Never expected a week like that one to be the first. Considering it was the first week, who knows what the upcoming weeks will be like.

For the time being though, I need to get up. My brother, Ethan, is meant to arrive today, the lazy bitch couldn't be bothered coming last week so he decided he'd come this week. Apparently he landed a job at the local car dealership, which is one thing I give to him. He's lazy but he has really good people skills. He can land jobs relatively easy. I'm the opposite to be honest. I can still be lazy but I'm miserable at trying to meet new people or try to talk to new people. I'm surprised I even managed to make friends this first week.

I checked the time and surely enough, the clock just barely ticked over 5:00am. I rolled the sheets over and sat up in the side of my bed, rubbing the sleep out of my eyes. I stretched out my arms, feeling my shoulders joints pop satisfyingly. After a considerable amount of time sitting on the edge of my bed, I finally worked up the courage to actually get up and do something and not waste my time. 'Is it really a weekend if you don't waste it though?' I thought.

"Yes it is, now shut up brain," I said to myself, smacking the side of my head, which didn't make my brain shut up but it definitely woke me up. I walked over to the wardrobe and just grabbed out a random top and a random pair of pants. Just happened to be my System of a Down sweater and my full black sweatpants. 'I am a fashion atrocity,' I thought with a slight chuckle, also remembering a party I went to, where I wore a striped jacket, camo cargo shorts and a pair of bright blue Nike running shoes. 'I really am useless with fashion.'

I just decided to have a quick shower and got dressed, making my way out to the kitchen to find Ethan sitting at the table eating my cereal.

"When the hell did you get here? It's 5:30!" I asked, extremely confused.

"My flight here was quite early. I arrived here at like 2:30 this morning, and just had a quick nap on the couch until about 4:30, had a shower and here we are," He replied, with a mouthful of Cocoa Pops, also making a mess on the table that I, inevitably, would end up cleaning.

"Ooh, I'm surprised I didn't hear you," I said with a chuckle, "How'd you even get here? Did you get a taxi or something?"

"Nope, something better," He said, finishing the last of his cereal and chucking the bowl in the sink. He lead me out to the garage. We walked out to find a little kids trike sitting in the available spot in the garage. The second we saw it we burst out laughing.

"Where the… fuck… did you get that…" I asked in between breaths, still hysterically laughing at a kids trike just sitting in the garage where a car would sit.

"I found it in the bush when I was taking the taxi here. I saw it in the bush and asked if we could stop. I went out and surely enough, it was a trike sitting in the trees. I grabbed it and threw it in the boot of the taxi, and now we have a kids trike," He explained, making me laugh even harder, wondering why anyone would take a trike that was sitting in a tree.

"I'm not gonna question it, but don't you need a car to get to work?" I asked, finally finishing my laughing.

"The company will provide a car, I'll just need a ride there on the first day there if you don't mind."

"Yeah it's alright. What time and when?"

"Tomorrow actually at 8:00am, if it's alright. I got Friday and Saturday off for my shifts."

"Yeah that'll be fine. I don't have anything planned tomorrow, as if I ever do," I said with a slight chuckle, "I should show you where your room is. I've already set up the basics in there for you," I continued, leading him to his bedroom, which will eventually stink of dog shit so I made sure to make it at the end of the hallway, while mine was closer to the start of the hallway. It was only a small 2 bedroom, 1 bathroom house so it's nothing special.

"Cool, thanks bro. I'll just set up my PC and my PlayStation and I'll be fine for the rest of the day," He said opening a box he was extremely careful with, just to make sure he didn't break anything, "Oh, and you'll have to show me where the bathroom is."

"Bathroom is only door on the right, it can't be missed," I said, "Wait, you still have that PlayStation?" It was a PlayStation 1 just if you were curious. We've had that thing for 12 years and it's still going.

"Of course I do, I love that thing more than I love myself," He argued.

"Of course you do. I'm gonna go make myself some breakfast," I said, shutting the door on the way out.

I made my way to the kitchen, opening the fridge, surely enough, he'd used up the rest of the milk. 'Yeah that seems about right,' I thought to myself, shaking my head. Toast it is.

Humphrey's POV

Today's the day. Today's the day I finally go out on a date with Kate; the girl I've had a crush on since I was 5 years old, and I was gonna take her to The Shires. It's a fantastic lunch/dinner restaurant and bar in the town center. Their food is fantastic but isn't overly expensive either. They have quite a wide variety of foods and meals. From battered fish and fries to eye fillet steaks. Drinks also range from orange juice to hard liquor. Obviously you have to be 18 to purchase alcohol in Alberta, which is the territory Jasper is in, and even though I am of age, I have no intention of buying alcohol anyway. I don't feel like getting drunk at 2 in the afternoon.

Speaking of time, we never agreed to a time. I should text her just to be sure.

H: Hey Kate

K: Hey Humphrey. What's up?

H: Nothing much, I was just wondering what time I should go to pick you up.

K: How does 1pm sound?

H: Sounds good to me, btw, just keep dress casual, but not too casual if you get what I mean. No need for anything that special today.

K: Yeah I get what you mean. I'll see you soon x

H: See ya soon:)

1 o'clock it is, and it's… 8am right now so I still have time to make a reservation and get ready. I quickly looked up their phone number to make a reservation for the date. I dialed the number into my phone and pressed call. After it rang a couple of times an older lady answered the phone.

"Hello, this is The Shires and my name is Kirsty, how may I help you today?" She asked in a very rehearsed way.

"Hi, I would like to make a reservation," I said.

"Okay, what time would that be?"

"1pm if possible."

"Hold on let me just make sure we're available for that time… yes we are available. How many people shall be arriving on this reservation?"

"2, including myself."

"Okay, you're all set, I just need your name and your phone number and you'll be good to go."

"My name is Humphrey Wilkes and my phone number is 555 678 145."

"Awesome. We'll see you at 1 o'clock!"

"Cool, thank you," I said, hanging up the phone.

Everything is set up and ready to go. After digging through my clothes I found my nice navy blue button up top and some black jeans. I also grabbed my black and white Vans that I use only for special occasions and my Rexona deodorant that people, for some reason, like. I personally don't like it but it was all I had. I made my way to the bathroom and had a shower.

After making my way to my bedroom and getting dressed, I just decided to play some games to pass the time. I booted up my old Xbox 360 and decided on some Black Ops 2. Personally, I love this game, I don't know many people who don't. I also absolutely dominate this game too. It's extremely fun.

At that very moment, I realised, I don't have a car. Shit. How am I going to pick up Kate if I don't have a car? I can always ask one of my friends to loan me their car. I have a license, but I could never afford a car. I decided to call Liam up and see if would loan me his car for the afternoon. I put his number in and pressed call. It almost completely rang out and nearly ended the call, but it was picked up at the last second.

"Hey, it's Liam speaking."

"Hey Liam, how's it going?" I asked.

"Oh, hey Humphrey. Yeah I'm alright. What has brought you to call me on such day?"

"I was wondering if I could borrow your car for the afternoon. I kinda have a date but no car to take them in."

"Oh, yeah sure man, I can bring it around now if you want?"

"Yeah that'll be fine. Get to play some Black Ops 2 with me then!" I said, with a slight chuckle.

"No way, I'm coming now. I haven't played that shit in so long. I'll see you in a minute. Just don't jizz all over my car please," He said, chuckling and hanging up the phone.

Welp, that's my ride sorted out. 'Just don't jizz all over my car please.' Funny.

About 4 hours later…

Kate's POV

I wonder where Humphrey is gonna take me. He said to, and I quote, 'Keep it casual, but not too casual.' I'm sorry, but what the hell does that mean? I guess it just means not to be too fancy but not overly casual either? Fuck it, I'll just wear something nice. I opened my wardrobe and I don't even know what to wear. I guess, skinny jeans and one of my Nike tops? I have no clue. I'm not overly into fashion, it can be a complete shit-show.

After looking around for a bit, I happened to notice a dress that I haven't worn in a while. It was a nice darkish grey colour, if anything it made my eye colour pop out a bit. It wasn't overly formal either, it was like a dress you'd just wear to school or some shitty party with a couple of your friends. After putting it on, it fit like a dream. At least that's my clothes sussed now. Soon after I saw a dark blue car pull up the driveway. I've never seen a car like that ever. I don't even think they are available here, because I've never seen one around here, ever.

After it shut off I saw Humphrey step out of the car. 'What? I didn't know he had a car?' I thought to myself, rather confused. He looked amazing though. The shirt and pants he was wearing suited him perfectly. He walked up to the door and rang the bell, to which I hurried my way downstairs and opened it for him, and was met with his signature smile that I love so much. It always makes me happy to see it.

"I thought I said keep it casual," He said, laughing a bit.

"I could say the same for you," I said, putting a hand on my hip, and we shared a quick hug.

"Whaat, nooo what are you talking about..." He said getting a good laugh out of both of us.

"Now, I know it's a bit early, 24 minutes to be exact," He said looking at his watch and looking back at me, "But I say we get a move on because we have reservations." 'Reservations? Oh no, I hope he doesn't spend his life savings just to go out to lunch with me,' I thought, a little shocked he said reservations.

"Okay," I said as he grabbed my hand and attempted to lead me out of the house, but I stopped him.

"I kinda have to tell my parents I'm going," I said, giggling a bit.

"Oh yeah, forgot they existed for a second," He said rubbing the back of his neck and chuckling. I walked back into the house and into the kitchen, where surely enough, mum was there, fixing herself some lunch.

"I'm going out, mum. I should be back in a few hours," I said.

"With who? Where?" She asked turning in my direction, with an angry look on her face.

"Humphrey; he's taking me out to lunch."

"Oh okay. What a sweet boy. Have fun hun," she said, giving me a hug.

I returned the hug and made my way out the front door, Humphrey then grabbing my hand, and proceeding to drag me out to the car.

"I didn't know you had a car, Humphrey," I said, a little surprised, "Plus, this doesn't even look like it's available in Canada, let alone North America."

"Yeah, that's because it, kinda isn't mine," He said chuckling and opening the door for me, me happily hopping in. The interior was so well kept it looked like nothing had ever even touched it once, aside from the slightly worn seats which was understandable.

"What do you mean? You didn't steal it did you?" I said giggling a little bit.

"Yeah I broke into my neighbours garage and hot wired it," He replied, very sarcastically, him starting it up.

"But seriously, where did you get it?"

"It's Liam's car," He said, backing out of the driveway, "It's some Holden Commodore I think? He shipped it here apparently. Explains why you've never seen it."

"Ah, makes sense," I said, finally understanding. I was still curious as to where we were going, because he hadn't told me and when he said we had reservations, it worried me he was spending too much money on me, "Another question, where are you taking me?"

"You'll see," He said, a grin growing on his face.

Eventually I did see, after a 15 minute drive or so.

"No way, The Shires?" I said, surprised, "I love the place, how'd you know I liked this place?"

"I have my ways..." He said, grinning widely, "And by 'ways' I mean I just guessed." I rolled my eyes and followed him inside. I had a feeling this is gonna be a nice lunch.
