Kate's POV
I woke up in what seemed to be a hospital room, not entirely remembering why I was there, in one of the chairs after having a terrible sleep. I felt exhausted, but then again, I did sleep in a chair. My neck was quite sore from sitting quite uncomfortably. I rubbed my eyes, trying to wake myself up a bit, but to no avail.
After looking around the room, I remembered why I was here. Humphrey. He was laying down in the hospital bed, still fast asleep, snoring a little bit. He seemed quite peaceful where he was, so I didn't bother him.
I pulled out my phone and checked the time. Unsurprisingly, it was quite early; it was about 8:10am. Usually on a Saturday and Sunday I wake up closer to 10, so it explains why I was so tired. I also realised I was still wearing the dress I was wearing yesterday.
"I need to change clothes..." I said to myself, and I heard Humphrey start moving around.
"K-kate… Come h-here Kate…" Humphrey said, I got up and went over to him, worried something was wrong.
"What is it? What's wrong?" I replied, soon realising he was talking in his sleep.
"You're… so perfect..," He said, still sleeping. I was stunned, I couldn't even open my mouth for a solid 30 seconds if not longer. Then I thought for a second, realising this might be quite funny.
"Oh really? Is that true?" I whispered in his ear.
"Y-yeah…j… just kiss me… already…" He said, snoring a little bit, making me giggle. When I giggled, he started to stir awake, opening his eyes slowly, them eventually meeting with mine.
"Good morning, Kate," He said, smiling weakly.
"Good morning. Seems like you had a good sleep," I said, giggling a bit.
"What do you mean?" He asked, slightly confused.
"It seems you are a sleep talker..." I replied, a grin forming on my face, and an embarrassed one forming on his.
"W-what did I say this time?" He asked rather nervously.
"This time? Oh wow, I can't wait to hear more from you," I said, still grinning, sitting my arm on the barrier of the bed, resting my head on my hand.
"What did I say?" He asked again.
"Nothing overly important, don't worry…" I said, giggling a bit.
"How can I trust that?" He said, tilting his head to the left slightly.
"Are you calling me a liar?" I asked jokingly.
"Hmm, most definitely," He said, in a terrible British Accent.
"That accent was impeccable," I said sarcastically.
"Why, thank you milady," He replied, still doing the accent, causing us to laugh, "Now, what did I actually say?"
"I'll tell you later," I said, earning a groan of disappointment from him.
"God dammit," He replied, causing me to chuckle, "You girls drive me insane sometimes." At which moment we heard a knock on the door.
"Come in," I said, the door opening to see my parents, along with Lily, "Hey guys."
"Hey Kate," My mum said, holding a shopping back, "I brought a change of clothes for you if you want them."
"Just put it down on one of the chairs, I'll probably change when I get home but thanks anyway," I said, mum nodding.
"How are you Humphrey?" My dad asked, looking genuinely worried for him, "I'm sorry we couldn't come last night."
"I can say I've been better," Humphrey replied with a chuckle, "and don't worry about it."
"We also brought you some McDonald's. The nurses said it was alright so we thought you'd like it," Lily said, handing him a McDonald's bag, "And, no, we didn't forget you either Kate," she continued, handing me a bag too. I nodded, taking the bag.
"No way, how'd you know I like this?" He said, pulling out a BigMac and Chicken Nuggets.
"I knew because it's all you ever get when Kate, You, and I go to McDonald's," Lily said, giggling a bit.
"Oh, yeah, that makes sense," Humphrey replied, eating them, "Wait, it's only like 8:30, I thought they only serve their breakfast meals at that time?"
"The one we usually go to only serves breakfast at this time, but we went to the one that was down the road from here. They serve anything during their breakfast hours. It's a little weird but I'm not complaining," Lily continued.
"Ooh okay," I said, Humphrey's mouth full of Chicken Nuggets. When I saw that it made me giggle a bit.
"What's so funny?" Humphrey asked, his mouth still full of food, causing it to be muffled a bit.
"Nothing..." I said, giggling more. He just rolled his eyes and continued to eat his food, finishing it rather quickly I might add.
"I haven't had that in quite a while," He said, chuckling.
"Yeah, I can tell," I said, continuing to eat my food in a chair directly next to his bed.
Soon after Humphrey finished, my parents started chatting to him a bit. I wasn't really paying attention to it though. All I could hear was the soft rumble of Humphrey's voice and it was quite relaxing to be honest. It was coming up around 9ish when we heard another knock at the door. It was Liam and Charlotte.
"Hey Humphrey," Charlotte said, "How're you feeling?" I noticed both Liam and Charlotte's eyes were a little bit bloodshot, but I'm not going to question it.
"I'm feeling alright, considering I was stabbed by a table," Humphrey said, chuckling. I noticed Liam was shaking a bit, and looked very distraught, but I didn't think much of it. Probably just zoned out a bit. I've noticed some people look a bit odd when they zone out.
The rest of us continued to chat about some random things, I don't remember exactly what we were talking about, but it was a pleasant conversation. I looked over to Liam and he was shaking, quite heavily, and sweating too. At which point, I thought something was wrong.
"Liam? Are you alright?" I asked, and got no response, "Liam?" I asked a little louder, causing Charlotte to turn and see him.
"Are you okay, Liam?" Humphrey asked, but still no response, Charlotte then shaking him, causing him to wake up from his trance.
"CHARLOTTE, NO!" Liam shouted, coming back into reality, and realising what he said, "I need some air," He said, swiftly leaving the room.
Liam's POV
We arrived at the hospital after what happened earlier, a time I would much rather forget, but it was too hard, so I gave up on trying to forget it. We walked in and made our way to the reception desk.
"Hey," Charlotte said, getting the receptionists attention, "We're here to see Humphrey Wilkes."
"Ah yes," She said, typing in the computer, "He's in room G14. His room should be down the hallway to the left here. His room will be on the left," she said pointing to the hallway and smiling.
"Thank you," Charlotte said, as me made our way to the room.
"No problem," we heard the receptionist faintly say. We were going down the hallway and I started to feel dizzy. I didn't think anything of it, until I zoned out and I couldn't break it.
Hallucinations…
Charlotte and I were driving to the hospital after what happened earlier, which had left me a little uneasy since then.
"I'm sorry about earlier, Liam. I shouldn't have kept bothering you about that," She said, turning to me. I took my eyes off the road and looked her in the eyes intently.
"Don't worry about it Charlotte. What's done is done. It's in the past and it's where it belongs," I said, putting my hand on hers.
"I do worry about it, Liam. I shouldn't have persisted," she said, starting to cry a bit.
"Don't cry, please. It's alright. Like I said earlier, you were going to find out sooner or later," I said, taking my hand off hers and putting it around her back, rubbing her back gently. She relaxed rather quickly and smiled at me.
"Thank you, Liam," She said, smiling, me wiping away what little tears there were, "You're so sweet."
"It's no problem," I said, still not having my eyes on the road, and blowing right through a stop sign. Charlotte looked away from me and to her left, screaming. It was all over in less than a second. T-boned. I blacked out for what felt like less than 3 seconds.
I woke up to blaring sirens and bright lights; ambulances and firetrucks everywhere. I tried to move and realised, my arm was screwed, broken, bent and not looking too good. I wasn't worried about that though. The T-Bone was taken from left side, meaning Charlotte's side took the brunt of the hit.
I managed to drag myself out of the mangled mess that was still a car. Looking around to find Charlotte next to the car being treated by paramedics. I ran over, not even feeling anything. No pain, no emotion, nothing. I wedged myself in a gap in between the paramedics and I realised what I had done. She was pretty far from alright. There was a massive cut in her side. It looked like someone grabbed a 6 inch carving knife and went across her stomach with it. Everything on her left side was just destroyed, her arm and leg were broken, very clearly, the left side of her head was split like a melon, and even her right hand was broken in many places. The paramedics were talking while trying to treat her injuries.
"I doubt she'll be alive. These injuries aren't compatible with life, at all," one of them said.
"Yeah, it's a shame really," another said, "She looked like she a had a lot of time left." They were talking as if I wasn't even there. I was tearing up at the sight. I couldn't bare it. They hooked up a portable heart monitor as quickly as they could, connecting everything and turning it on.
Flat-line.
"Liam? Are you alright?" I heard one of the paramedics say, looking at me, "Liam?" The voice was very familiar, but I couldn't put my finger on who it was.
"How do you know my name?" I asked, not getting a response.
"Are you okay, Liam?" I heard another say. Once again, the voice was extremely familiar, but I couldn't put my finger on it.
Then all of a sudden, Charlotte sat up on the stretcher she was on and shook me violently, making me shout, breaking my trance.
End of Hallucination…
"CHARLOTTE, NO!" I shouted, with my eyes closed. I felt sweat dripping down me, and my entire body was shaking more than a washing machine with a brick in it. I opened my eyes and looked around the room, realising I was in a hospital room. Everyone was looking at me. Lily, Humphrey, Kate, Charlotte, Winston, and even another wolf I hadn't recognised. She looked very similar to Kate so I suspected her mum, but I wasn't focused on that. Everyone was staring at me, worried and confused, "I need some air," I said, getting out of my chair and walking out of the door swiftly.
