Chapter 13: Something on Jax's mind
After changing into their human disguises, Loona takes Jax on a quick tour through the streets of the city showing him a variety of different shops, food joints, and sights. Jax was amazed to see there were buildings everywhere but they looked more fancy and clean than the buildings in Imp City, there were brightly colored cars on the streets, there were humans walking everywhere doing their everyday activities, there were a few trees here and there, and above everything was a big beautiful blue sky with a bright sun and a few clouds.
"Wow!" Jax said with twinkling eyes
"What do you think of this place Jax?" Loona smiled
"Everything looks so different! It's like we stepped into a different universe!" Jax exclaimed in awe
After they finished touring through the streets, Loona takes Jax to the city park to show him how different it was compared to the park in Hell.
To Jax's surprise, the park looked nicer and greener than the park in Imp City. It was big and open with trees surrounding it complete with a baseball area, a playground, and a picnic shelter. Of course there were many people relaxing around the park on picnic blankets with children everywhere playing.
"Wow! This is so awesome Loona!" Jax exclaimed as he sheds a single tear of joy.
"I'm glad you like it kiddo. Go ahead run free." Loona smiled
Immediately Jax runs out to the big open fresh grass and happily rolls on it. Jax laughed in joy because of the grass feeling so nice that he was cherishing every moment of it.
Loona smiled as she watched. Jax was really becoming the happiest and luckiest kid right now.
As Loona was watching Jax, a random shirtless muscular man with blonde hair wearing jeans and sunglasses suddenly walks up to Loona from behind. Loona's smile turns into a frown as she senses his presence. Without a word, the man right away puts his arm around her and starts flirting with her much to her disappointment.
"Hey there gorgeous. I was walking by and noticed your sexy body. It really caught my eye." The man said with a mischievous grin
"You might wanna remove your arm off my shoulder. I'm not playing." Loona warned with a glare
"*chuckles* Or what? Are you playing hard to get right now? Don't worry missy, I promise I'm the guy you really wanna spend time wi-" *POW!*
Loona strikes him in the face with the back of her fist knocking him unconscious as he falls to the ground. Now that the annoying muscular man was taken care of, Loona goes back to watching Jax smiling again.
Jax runs and plays around the park for a couple more minutes until Loona checks the time on her phone and sees that it has been an hour since they first came into the living world.
"Hey Jax it's time to go back!" Loona called as she walks up to Jax.
"Awwww but it's so fun here Loona." Jax said sadly
"I know kiddo but it's been an hour and we have to go back and meet up with Blitzo. I know how much you love this green grass so don't worry it's not going anywhere. We can always come here another time." Loona smiled
"*sigh* Okay." Jax sighed as he stood up
Loona takes his hand and begins walking out of the park to go back to the same alleyway where they first arrived.
As they were walking, Jax notices a random young woman with her hair tied into a ponytail jogging through the park for exercise. As Jax watches, he suddenly gets a feeling that the jogging woman is reminding him of something, something he had experienced way before but he can't seem to remember.
Loona looks down at Jax and sees his curious expression.
"Something on your mind Jax?" Loona asked
"Um…Loona, I feel like I'm remembering something."
"Oh? What are you remembering?" Loona asked
"That's the thing Loona. I don't know exactly. I just have a feeling." Jax said
Loona stops walking and kneels down to Jax's eye level.
Loona cups his cheeks and looks into his eyes for any signs of sickness or conditions.
"Well I hope you're not sick kiddo. Maybe you need water, all that running around might have worn you out. Let's keep going, there's plenty of water when we go back to the office." Loona said as she stood back up and continued walking with Jax.
After leaving the park, Jax couldn't help trying to remember what his mind is trying to tell him along the way. Again Jax couldn't remember exactly and decided to shake it off for now.
Meanwhile Blitzo, Moxxie and Millie were patiently waiting in the same alleyway after coming back from successfully assassinating their easy target.
"I can't believe that kill only took us 4 seconds." Millie said
"Did you guys like the way I screamed 'Surprise asshole!'. You should have seen the look on that guy's face when we busted through his door." Blitzo bragged
"show off" Moxxie mumbled silently
"What was that?"
"I mean yes we did like the way you screamed sir." Moxxie lied
"Oh why thank you. Screaming is one of my many talents." Blitzo said proudly
"I'm sure you practiced in bed with Stolas." Moxxie said in his mind
Finally Loona shows up with Jax.
"There you are Loonie, now let's head back." Blitzo said as he opened the portal
"Awwww well look at you Jaxy. You look so handsome even as a human." Millie adored as she lightly pinches his cheek
"Ugh. Millie come on already. This alleyway is starting to stink." Moxxie groaned as he gently grabbed his wife by the arm and walked her through the portal following Blitzo.
After the three imps walked through the portal back to hell, Loona changes back into her hellhound form before turning to Jax.
"Alright Jax let's see you try again." Loona said
Jax nods and tries to change back into his hellhound form by himself. A blue aura surrounds him a bit brighter but once again vanishes. He tries three more times but still no success.
"I still can't do it." Jax said in defeat
"It's okay. Here let me help you." Loona uses her soft index fingertip to tickle Jax on his nose.
"Hehehehehehe-eh-Ah-ACHOO! *POOF*" Jax sneezes with a flash of blue aura as he changes back into his hellhound form.
"*sniff* Thanks Loona."
"Anytime kiddo. Now let's head back." Loona said as she and Jax walked through the portal before it closed
Unknown to Loona, Jax, and the murder professionals, a pair of binoculars was watching them the entire time. The person behind the binoculars was a man in a tuxedo with sunglasses by the name Agent one. Alongside him was his female coworker named Agent two who was also looking through binoculars of her own. She two was wearing a tuxedo with sunglasses. Agent one and two were members of a paranormal investigation organization known as D.H.O.R.K.S. They were both on a roof of a building across the street from the alleyway spying on Blitzo and his team until they left and disappeared through the portal. On the other hand, they were shocked to see a small hellhound with Loona.
"Did you just see what I just saw Agent two?" Agent one asked
"Oh I sure did. It appears they have a puppy and he has the ability to change his appearance just like the big girl dog."
"How shocking! This means those freaks can reproduce in the afterlife and they could form an army to come here and terrorize our world!" Agent one exclaimed getting paranoid
"Now calm down Agent one. I have an idea."
"Oh? Let me hear it!" Agent one grinned putting his head close to his partner to hear her idea.
"Alright so you know that kids are small and weak and are easy to kidnap right?"
"Yes. Everyone knows that." Agent one said
"Well, what do you say we kidnap that puppy of hell and try to get some answers out of him and maybe we can easily force him to lead us to the afterlife without him having to say any smartass remarks like those other two." Agent two said referring to Moxxie and Blitzo when they were once captured them.
"Agent two that sounds like a brilliant idea." Agent one smiled
"Hehehehe yes indeed. By the way why are we up here again?" Agent two asked
"Ugh! Because the stupid corporate didn't wanna believe a single frame of that security footage of those freaks. They just right away thought we animated the footage with CGI out of desperation to satisfy them right away. I mean can you believe that!? We went through a lot of blood and losses fighting those weirdos to obtain that footage so they have to believe it. But nooooo they just had to throw it away and tell us to bring real evidence or we're fired." Agent one complained
"Well worry not Agent one. When we get our hands on that youngest weirdo, we can also show him to corporate…in person." Agent two smiled
"I like the way you think. In fact I already thought of a way we can catch him so listen carefully." Agent one begin whispering his capture plan in his partner's ear.
