AN: hello everyone, I'm sorry for the long wait. I never realize how long I take to update until I see the last update date. I wanted to post this before the end of the year but it was impossible. I get very busy this season, and even though I had finished writing it, I write by hand and then type so I take twice the time. Anyway, this chapter was hard to write, there's a lot of things going on, complicated things and important things as well. If you need a remembrance from last chapter, recommend you go back and read last 'cause this just follows right after the last. I hope you enjoy it!

CHAPTER 6 "Thin Air"

"A dying wish?" Balrog said smiling wickedly, but that smile was rapidly erased as he felt Dante's body changing its shape within his grasp. He surprised to see Dante transform into a different demon. He looked more powerful and resembled Sparda even more. Dante not only seemed to have recovered completely and in mere seconds, but he also gained an immense amount of power.

"What's yours?" Dante said with a coarser devilish voice, smiling viciously as he set free from Balrog's grasp, lacerating his hand with his pointy and sharp wings. He had turned into his Majin form, leaving Balrog motionless and shocked.

"What- power…" Balrog managed to say. He was surprised to see Dante had recovered and moved incredibly fast.

Dante grew large red blades from his elbows and pierced one just under the fragment in Balrog's fist, forcing it to come off. He finally obtained the fragment of Yamato, decreasing Balrog's power greatly. "This belongs to my brother…" Dante said in his demonic voice as he hovered in the air before Balrog, holding the shard between his fingers.

"What?" Balrog said surprised. "But he's dead"

Dante just chuckled and shook his head grinning wickedly.

In the human world meanwhile, Trish felt this was it; she lamented so many things but suddenly she opened her eyes as she heard Gamaliel groan. His fist was mere inches from Trish's stomach, but he was stopped as a sword alike the Force Edge stabbed his stomach. He coughed blood splattering Trish's face and the ground.

Trish simply moved back, stumbled and fell onto the ground, surprised.

Gamaliel lowered his look at the sword in his stomach and surprised as it vanished into thin air, but more swords descended from above as a heavy rain over him. He surprised even more and felt this wasn't real. He perfectly knew this technique. His eyes opened in amazement and shock as he fell on his knees. He held his body with his hands and slightly turned behind him. "It- can't- be…" He saw a blue clad man standing behind him.

"Vergil!" Both Trish and Gamaliel said almost in unison, both surprised to see him, although evidently Trish was happy to see him while Gamaliel felt he was seeing a ghost.

Gamaliel rapidly turned around although he kept on the ground. By no means he wanted to give his back at Vergil. "It can't be. You were dead. I'm sure of it" He said shocked and almost trembling in fear.

"Do your research first" Vergil said serious and arrogant.

Trish kept crawling back, trying to get the farthest away from there as possible. She kept staring at Vergil and understood he was trying to buy her some time to run away to a safer place while he dealt with Gamaliel.

Suddenly Gamaliel grinned. "I see. You really are good at keeping yourself behind the shadows. Who would've thought?" He said as he stood up. His wounds seemed to be recovering quite fast. "Just what I wanted. A battle with an honorable opponent. I always wanted to test myself against you. And to think we three used to be the same…" He said pointing a hand behind him, like calling Trish. "…we all served Mundus"

"Speak for yourself. I never served him. I just used him to obtain what I wanted" Vergil said serious and with certain hatred, remembering his experiences since he was trapped in hell.

"Of course…" Gamaliel chuckled ironically. "…as always" He turned towards Trish and saw her running away. He suddenly appeared before her. "Where do you think you're going, beautiful? Are you missing the reunion?" He slapped her in the face real hard. "You're not getting away!"

Vergil teleported right behind him, pulling him away from Trish. "Don't you dare to touch her again" He said serious as he challenged him to a battle. "Leave her out of this"

"Oh, I see…" Gamaliel said suspiciously. "…without a doubt you and Dante are twins…" He approached to Vergil and whispered to his ear. "…you are both in love with the same woman" He broke out laughing. "Oh, but he stole her from you!" He kept mocking, trying to poison Vergil's head and piss him off.

"Silence!" Vergil yelled annoyed and Devil Triggered. He wished he could have Yamato right now, but he would have to fight bare handed instead.

Gamaliel imagined Vergil should be at the same level as Dante, and even if everything seemed lost now, he just thought of the best way to continue with his plans, even if he died; and Vergil could be his perfect victim. Things couldn't have turned any better. "Alright… let's do things your way" He said as he turned into his real demon form.

Vergil surprised to see Gamaliel in a demon form, he had never seen him like that before. He maintained a sort of human appearance with horns, although his face and the look of his skin had changed, as well as his size. But now, it would be a more even battle.

Vergil was just getting ready to fight when he suddenly surprised as with a single click from Gamaliel's fingers, a lot of his minions appeared surrounding Trish.

"You didn't think I was gonna let her go, did you?" Gamaliel chuckled as he didn't take his eyes from Vergil.

Vergil didn't reply, but it was evident he was very pissed. And Gamaliel could only think of new ways to bring Vergil to his knees, and Trish was the main attraction.

Trish just turned around and saw the bunch of demons surrounding her. She was breathing heavily. She just blinked slowly and prayed for a miracle. She wasn't feeling very good and she was starting to feel dizzy. She had lost enough blood to feel bad and still her wounds were taking some time to heal. She had no choice but to set traps around her. It would work just for a little while, but there was nothing more she could do.

Vergil saw her face, her expression of terror. He hated that look, specially on her face. He hoped she could withstand a little longer, just till he could get rid of Gamaliel. He couldn't allow any demon to touch her. And Gamaliel would pay for what he did to her.

Vergil launched at Gamaliel, he wanted him to pay attention to him only. Gamaliel surprised at Vergil's speed. This would be the most exciting and difficult battle of his life and probably the last. But it would be worth it. He was gonna have a lot of fun, and one way or the other, his plans would continue their course.

They were fighting in the air; Vergil was really beating up Gamaliel due to his incredible speed and teleportation abilities. Gamaliel couldn't tell where the hit came from, he tried to counterattack, but Vergil either evaded or stopped his every hit, then counterattacked with a stronger one.

For a moment Vergil had forgotten about Trish, then her suffocated screams made him turn towards her. She was fighting these lesser demons with all the power she had left, but her condition wasn't the best. She had drained her powers setting traps, she was really exhausted; she couldn't take it anymore.

"Trish!" Vergil yelled in his demonic voice as he saw her collapse onto the ground, almost as in slow motion. He tried to reach out for her, but Gamaliel made the most of this distraction to attack him.

Vergil desperately tried to help her, reach her in time. His breathing had speeded up as his body filled with anxiety, but while he tried to reach her, he was left breathless as Gamaliel's fist sank in his stomach, depriving him of air. Gamaliel's fist was surrounded by an intense lightning; it was so powerful that Vergil could even feel it burning his stomach and all around. But this only infuriated Vergil even more.

As Gamaliel tried to keep attacking him, Vergil blocked all of his attacks then gripped his fists stopping him for a moment.

Gamaliel chuckled "I see you and Dante have the same weakness…" He grinned as he turned to look at Trish.

Vergil didn't reply, but he definitely pissed. He growled and was about to attack Gamaliel when suddenly and in between the bunch of demons surrounding Trish, he saw a golden sparkle. He couldn't help to grin.

"Mom!" David yelled as he appeared out of nowhere, he approached to them at an amazing speed, then launched at the demons while he turned to demon form in the air.

Trish surprised but finally found hope in all this uncertainty, the light in all this darkness. She couldn't help to smile. David was protecting her like Dante would and despite his devil form he seemed to be entirely conscious. She remained on the ground, she really needed rest. She just tried to move to a safer place. She slowly crawled away from all the demons.

Gamaliel got to listen when this kid yelled mom. He surprised and paralyzed for a moment. Moment that Vergil didn't waste and attacked Gamaliel with both his hands together, landing a powerful hit at his head. He was sent to the ground and crashed in mere seconds. Vergil teleported right before him and continued attacking him nonstop, until Gamaliel found a tiny moment where he could attack Vergil and managed to stop him with a kick.

While still on the ground, Gamaliel was perplexed watching this strange and yet so familiar kid. But it was no ordinary kid, it was part demon. He gulped. "Did he say mom?"

Vergil straightened up from the attack and grinned. "And yet again, you didn't do your research first" He pulled from Gamaliel's hair and forced him to stand up and continue with the fight. He could now concentrate only on getting rid of him without worrying about Trish. He'd worry about David later.

It seemed Gamaliel kept pensive as if all his plans had suddenly changed now with the existence of a son of Dante. Now Vergil would be his main target, getting rid of the unborn children was no longer a matter. He needed to focus on Vergil now.

"What's the matter? Are your plans ruined now?" Vergil said grinning wickedly while he kept his demon form.

"Not just yet" Gamaliel said slowly. He still had a trick up his sleeve.

They launched at each other at the same time, they were both fast and dexterous, but they were Vergil's attacks the ones with more accuracy. Vergil used all his might and abilities to attack him. Gamaliel was getting tired of his summoned swords technique; he ended up on the ground many times.

Vergil approached to him slowly. "You are lucky I don't have Yamato in my possession at the moment… otherwise you'd be dead by now"

Gamaliel never had the chance to see what Vergil was capable of with Yamato, but he assumed Mundus had been clever enough to strip him of it from the start. He didn't know the power of that sword, but it should be very powerful if it was created by the Legendary Dark Knight Sparda. He had a glance at the kid in battle. "How can a kid be so powerful?"

Vergil turned towards David; he noticed the demons didn't cease to appear, but David wasn't having any troubles to get rid of them. "Such is the reach of a half-breed, like you call us"

"No. That's no half-breed. He's more than that" Gamaliel replied.

Vergil lifted him off the ground and continued attacking him. He was sick of him already. He wanted to take Trish back home. She needed some rest.

Gamaliel fought back for a while, keeping at Vergil's level, but not so long had passed when Vergil landed him a powerful attack that even made Gamaliel return to his human form again. He was exhausted and near death.

As Vergil saw Gamaliel took human form, he returned to his human form as well. He just grinned as he stood before Gamaliel. "Humph. As I suspected. You are nothing more than a pathetic demon"

Gamaliel grinned as he turned to look at Vergil. He couldn't help to chuckle.

Vergil raised an eyebrow. "Do you find it amusing?" He wondered a little upset. "But of course…" He said as he closed his eyes for a moment. "You don't have anything left to do but laugh, now that you feel your end is near… although a desperate cry would be more accurate"

Gamaliel chuckled. "I just wondered if Dante would have been able to defeat me faster. Wish I could have had the chance to witness his mighty power" He said slyly as he suspiciously glanced at Vergil.

Vergil's demeanor changed dramatically. "And what makes you think my foolish brother is better than me?" He asked enraged as he gripped Gamaliel by his vest and lifted him off the ground.

Gamaliel gulped. He was covered in blood and he was so weak now that even his healing abilities were so slow and the demons he made appear, his minions had finally ceased to appear.

David had finished with all of the demons. He stood alert, glancing around him, breathing heavily. Trish could see how his whole body pulsated with that urge for more. She knew that feeling well.

"David? Honey, are you alright?" She asked from behind.

David clenched his fists then slowly turned to look at Trish.

Trish was afraid to see his expression, the look in his eyes. Her heart pounded so strong in her chest. She gulped as she saw him turning towards her. "Baby…" She almost cried.

"Are you alright mom?" David said in his childish and yet devilish voice, as he approached to her slowly.

"…you did it" Trish said in tears.

"I did it, did what?" David said confused as Trish reached out for him. He embraced her strongly.

"You're controlling your demon now" Trish said with a smile.

David surprised. "Oh, I am" He chuckled as he broke away from the embrace and stared at his clawed hands.

Gamaliel spat blood on Vergil's face as he punched him in the stomach.

Vergil felt disgusted by his blood then he simply dropped him on the ground. He wiped off the blood from his face. "There's no big difference between Dante and I" He said certain.

"But there is…" Gamaliel replied. "…facts Vergil. Dante has never lost a battle and he was even able to destroy Mundus. That's a deed, I say…"

Vergil infuriated and kicked him, making him roll to a side violently. "He's no better than me" He said gritting his teeth.

"Don't worry…" Gamaliel panted. "… we can- change that though…" He was having troubles to breathe now.

Vergil frowned confused.

Gamaliel turned to look at Vergil and noticed he had called his attention. Vergil slowly approached to him. "…I- p-possess- what you've always- wanted"

Vergil chuckled and turned away from him and in the blink of an eye he was before him, lifting him off the ground by the neck. "If you think, that saying nonsense like that I will keep you alive, you are very wrong" He said to his face with hatred.

"I need you- to kill me, not to- keep me- alive…" Gamaliel said stuttering.

Vergil frowned curious.

"It is power- what you've- always- wanted, isn't it?" Gamaliel struggled to speak. He started coughing and spitting blood. "That's why you yielded to Mundus"

Vergil raised an eyebrow and let him talk.

"Within me- Mundus planted a seed…" Gamaliel continued.

Vergil couldn't help to laugh. "You're not gonna tell me now, that Mundus impregnated you…" He mocked.

Gamaliel chuckled, shaking his head. "All of Mundus' creations have a seed inside. Each- with a different purpose, but mine- you will find- useful" He kept breathing deeply.

"So you say Trish has a seed within her…" Vergil said curious. "…planted by Mundus?"

"Yes" Gamaliel replied simply. "A Seed of Love" He continued. "It was intended to make her- incapable to love. Being a demoness, attractive and sexy as she is, he sought to- keep her loyalty to him that way. But I guess Dante's love for her- broke the seal and it lost its power" He said as he tried to stand up.

Vergil kept pensive. If that was true, that meant Trish couldn't feel any love for him because of that seed. Things made more sense now. "What is your seed's purpose?" He wondered.

"I thought- you'd never ask" Gamaliel straightened up. "Within me- resides the seed to the Qliphoth Tree…"

Vergil's eyes suddenly lost in the nothingness. He grinned devilishly. "And I just have to kill you to obtain it…"

Gamaliel closed his eyes and grinned. He didn't expect Vergil would act as fast, but Vergil's devilish clawed hand thrust through his stomach till it pierced the other side. Vergil hadn't entirely turned to demon, just his arm; the killing hand that rapidly took Gamaliel's life. His eyes opened widely in amazement and shock. "Vergil, wait!" He exhaled in a suffocated last breath. "I- need to- tell you- how…" A second thrust pierced his chest destroying his heart. "…the seed works…" He collapsed over Vergil, lifeless.

Vergil slowly pulled his forearm out of Gamaliel's chest and as he opened his clawed hand, it revealed a small seed. His face couldn't hide the sensation he was experimenting. He could be able at last to obtain what he always wanted. He wickedly grinned as he closed his hand. It had already returned to its human form.

Trish had noticed when Vergil gave that fatal blow. She could see Vergil's arm resembled a lot to Nero's Devil Bringer. It just looked the same. And even if a part of him, of his essence resided in Nero's arm, he had to be his son. She was sure of it now. She kept breathing heavily, but her respiration was slowly turning to normalcy as all her anxiety had finally vanished. Even the rain had stopped.

Vergil slowly approached to them and noticed David still kept his demon form. David turned around to face Vergil now, and Vergil couldn't help to surprise after he noticed David was wearing the amulet. He frowned surprised. "How can you…" He hesitated. "…but you're wearing the amulet…" He said focused on the amulet.

Trish couldn't understand why Vergil was surprised with the amulet. She didn't know it had a special power.

David hadn't even realized he was wearing it. "Oh yeah. I participated in a competition in school today. I wanted to make it fair. I wanted to be equal with the other kids" He said foolish.

"I understand that, but look at yourself… you're in your Devil form" Vergil insisted, still surprised. He now knew the amulet had a different purpose.

"So? What's that to do with the amulet?" Trish wondered confused.

"The other day we were training, I asked him to wear the amulet, trying to figure out if it possessed some kind of power, but the only thing that happened was that it somehow blocked his demonic abilities" Vergil replied. "He couldn't even pull his Devil Trigger. But with the amulet, he could recover his human form, if he wore it after turning into a Devil" He continued.

"Oh… I see" Trish said pensive. And now she believed it possessed a similar power as the bracelet with his name. She tried standing up but as she did, she stumbled so Vergil moved fast to hold her.

"Trish, are you okay?" Vergil asked as he noticed she was injured. "You're bleeding!" He said worried as he held her by her sides and rapidly felt his hand soaking in blood.

"I'm okay, Vergil. I- just need some rest" Trish said softly as she held from his chest.

"Why aren't you healing?" Vergil wondered.

"The babies absorb most of my power, specially by the end of the pregnancy" Trish said simply.

David easily returned to his human form and approached to them. He surprised to see his mom bleeding and not healing. "Will you get better mom?" He asked concerned.

Trish saw him now in his human form, she couldn't be any happier. "I will be perfectly fine, sweetie, thanks to you. You saved me" She said smiling.

Vergil noticed he had recovered his human form. "So now you can Devil Trigger at your own will?" He asked.

"Seems like it" David said foolishly as he stared at his human hands now. "I hadn't even thought about it" He held the amulet with a hand and thought he wouldn't take it off anymore.

"Let's head back home. Trish?" Vergil asked. "Can you walk?"

"I think so…" Trish said simply.

"I'll carry you back home either way" Vergil said determined. He lifted her and carried her in his arms all the way back.

Trish couldn't help to stare at the jet as they slowly got away from the park. It remained there intact, despite all the years that had gone by. She thought of Dante and wondered if he was okay.

"Oh mom!" David shouted suddenly. "I found this at home" He handed her the wedding ring.

Vergil couldn't avoid looking at it as Trish took it. She wore it back. "Thank you honey" She said sweetly to David as she rested her head on Vergil's chest. She could feel Vergil's heart beating a bit faster.

Vergil hated to have noticeable changes when being near her. It was obvious she could feel it. He pretended it was normal and kept walking. David just followed him, walking alongside. If only Dante never existed… Vergil thought to himself.

Meanwhile, Dante battled now a seemingly inferior Balrog, whose real powers were now exposed. The difference between them now was immense. Balrog feared for his life; every attack he received from Dante, just weakened him and left him closer to his end. He didn't want to die, but Dante's mighty power was vanishing any possibility of the opposite. Dante beat him so hard with his tremendous demonic power almost in a glance. There was no way Balrog could escape now. He was impressed with Dante's power and even believed he had surpassed Sparda's power greatly.

Balrog was almost defeated, lying on the ground. He was breathless and defenseless. Nothing could save him now. "Wait!" He yelled just before Dante would give him the last and fatal blow. He had closed his eyes and when he opened them up, he surprised to see the two protruding red blades from Dante's arms just before his eyes. He was breathing heavily in fear. "I will serve you, don't kill me…"

"Now we're talking" Dante said in his demonic voice as he recovered his human form right after.

"I will gladly provide you with my power and serve you in battle" Balrog said. "You are worthy of my power. "He said trying to save his life from Dante's fierce power. But Dante hadn't acquired dozens of Devil Arms just by sparing the lives of the demons but defeating them instead. So he finished him with Rebellion, slashing his entire body almost with what seemed like a Million Stabs.

Balrog was surrounded by an intense red light while he disintegrated leaving on its place a pair of gauntlets and greaves composed mostly of metal. They resembled Balrog's appearance. The gauntlets had yellow eyes on the back with back slit pupils, while the entire built of the Devil Arm had spikes. Dante reached his hands to it and it instantly attached to his hands and boots. He rapidly felt its power burning in his hands and feet. He couldn't wait to try this new Devil Arm. And for his luck, the place had suddenly infested with demons.

"Perfect timing" Dante said as he now performed several punch and kick attacks. This weapon was perfect for short-range combat and he felt the gauntlets heating up as he continuously punched the demons. It just turned him on more, so he kept attacking them till the gauntlets set on fire, causing more damage to his enemies. "Awesome!" Dante said excited and satisfied with this new Devil Arm. He was defeating enemies in a flash. He thought Balrog's weakness was his size, for it didn't let him move at higher speeds like him, but the power this Devil Arm possessed was amazing.

"Now I need to head back!" Dante said in the heat of battle. He was still surrounded by demons and it seemed more and more would come. He needed to defeat them all to try to figure out how to use the shard of Yamato to open a portal to the human world and be able to return.

Meanwhile, Vergil and David arrived to the Devil May Cry. The doors weren't locked so Vergil didn't have troubles to come in. He noticed Trish's wounds were finally beginning to heal. He laid her down on the large sofa. David closed the doors and went to sit over the center table before the sofa.

"Do you need anything, mom?" David asked concerned.

"I would love a hot bath…" Trish said softly almost moaning.

Vergil was just getting to the kitchen when he heard her say that. He instantly stopped, perplexed. He turned around and looked at her.

"Vergil? Could you help me get upstairs?" Trish asked.

"Of course…" He said hesitantly as he approached to her again. "…wha- whatever you need" He said foolish. He took her in his arms again and headed upstairs.

David just watched him take her upstairs. He could notice a strange behavior in his uncle Vergil. He remembered about what had happened in the morning and he couldn't help to feel scared of Vergil trying to win his mother's heart. Dave's expression was sad. He wanted his father back and fast. He went upstairs again but straight into his room. He noticed his uncle Vergil had gotten in to the large bathroom at the end of the hall, carrying his mother in his arms and he closed the door right after they went in. Dave got pissed and simply locked himself up in his room. He threw himself on the bed face down. He sank his face on the pillow and started thinking about his father. What if he did not return? Would Vergil become his father? He started remembering all the moments he shared with Dante. He couldn't help to cry remembering the good and bad moments, their dirty little secret. He didn't want a new father, he wanted his father back. He felt tempted to call his aunt Lady and tell her Vergil was there with them so she could come over and fix this problem. But he felt it could cause a lot of troubles as well, so he resisted the temptation.

"Dad, where are you? We need you now, please come back…" He said with tears in his eyes as he turned over, holding the pillow at his chest, squeezing it tightly. He just stared at the ceiling and remembered the infinite times he felt disgusted of watching his parents kissing and touching all over each other, but right now, that was all he wanted to see. Not Vergil trying to seduce his mother. He tried to relax, but then he perceived the smell of demons all over him. He needed a shower too. And his mom and his uncle Vergil were alone in that bathroom. He felt his mind was playing tricks on him, but he didn't like this feeling he was having. He hesitated, but still, he headed to the bathroom; more than going to take a shower he wanted to prove himself wrong, that he was just imagining things, that everything he was thinking was wrong. That his uncle Vergil wouldn't be in there still, with his mom, naked in the bath. So he settled his thoughts and decided to go find out.

Vergil was filling up the bathtub with hot water. He made sure it would have the perfect temperature to relax. He turned towards Trish. "Do you add something in the water?" He asked.

Trish was sitting over the toilet, completely dressed still. "Oh, there's a bubble bath bottle in the cabinet" She said simply.

Vergil could feel Trish's stare all over him. He opened the cabinet and took the bottle; he added some into the water and still he could feel her stare.

"Vergil, why don't you take your coat off? You'd be more comfortable..." Trish said suddenly, surprising Vergil.

Vergil straightened up and turned towards her. He gulped as he stared into her eyes. "Okay..." He said hesitantly as he took off his coat and hung it over a hook on the bathroom door.

"Can you help me take this off?" Trish asked sultrily as she stared at Vergil's exposed and strong arms.

Vergil hesitated a little. He couldn't help to feel nervous. Was she asking for help to get undressed? He approached to her and stood before her, but now his crotch was just in front of her face and she just couldn't turn her stare anywhere else. She reached her hands to Vergil's belt and his heart instantly speeded up. What is she trying to do now? He wondered nervous.

And now it was Trish's mind playing tricks on her, she couldn't help to see Dante in front of her; she saw only what she wanted to see. She kept staring at Vergil's crotch and noticed it was getting hard. She reached a hand to touch it. She rubbed and squeezed it tightly.

Vergil gulped nervous and excited at the same time. It felt so good. The touch of Trish's hands was amazing. He turned really hard and even let out a soft moan.

Trish raised her arms so Vergil could take her shirt off. He wanted to keep feeling her hands touching him, but he wanted to undress her as well. He slowly gripped her shirt by the shoulders and started lifting it when suddenly the door of the bathroom opened. Trish just peeped out through a side of Vergil and saw David paralyzed holding the knob still.

David freaked out, he hesitated and closed the door right away. He leant on the door from outside. His heart had speeded up in seconds. His eyes couldn't lie to him and what he just saw didn't look any good.

"Honey?" Trish yelled. "Do you need to use the bathroom?" She asked. "You can use the one in our room" She continued although she didn't get any response.

Vergil turned and thought David should be thinking pretty awful things, besides the fact that he was pissed in the morning after seeing them together in bed. "David?" He called out loud. But he wouldn't get any response either.

David kept paralyzed for a moment at the corridor. "Our?" He said to himself confused. "Our as in mom and dad's or our mom and uncle Vergil?" He opened his eyes widely in shock. Then he heard footsteps inside the bathroom and he hurried back to his room. Then he thought. Why am I running? But as soon as Vergil walked out of the bathroom, he ran to his room and locked himself up.

"I'll be right back" Vergil said to Trish as he opened the bathroom door. "David?" He yelled again and just saw when he shut himself up in his room. He took a deep breath and thought he needed to clear things up. He was walking to David's room when he heard a noise downstairs. Still, he approached to Dave's door and tried to open it. "David, we need to talk" He said serious.

Then suddenly a woman started shouting at the office. "Hello? Anybody home?" It was the woman from the baby store. She arrived with her crew to deliver the order. "Hello!" She kept shouting.

Vergil annoyed but he had to go receive the woman.

David heard Vergil's footsteps getting away. He felt curious, so he slowly opened the door and stealthily approached to the edge of the stairs. He kept there just staring and listening. He remembered this woman from the store.

"Oh!" The woman said surprised to see him and without a coat, showing his strong arms. She felt he had something that made you weaken and fall prey to temptation, giving in to desire. She didn't know if it was the seriousness of his expression or simply his enchanting looks, but she couldn't help to stare at him paralyzed. After some moments, she finally reacted and stretched out her arm hoping he would hold her hand. "Hello Mr. ...?" She wanted to know his name.

Vergil raised an eyebrow and wondered who this woman was. He noticed she wanted him to shake her hand. He looked at her with disdain, then grinned devilishly. "Dante" He said simply.

"Oh, hello Mr. Dante…" The woman said shyly and shaky.

"What!" David whispered in a yell to himself. Now he was sure his uncle Vergil was desperately trying to take his father's place. But no, he wouldn't allow it. He walked to the bathroom at the end of the hall and entered without knocking.

"Oh Vergil, I'm glad you're back. I need a hand in here…" Trish whispered softly without turning around. She was already inside the tub with her arms over the edges and her head laid back. Only her knees were exposed.

"So, it's true…" David said disappointed.

Trish surprised to hear David's voice. She slightly turned to look at him. "What is?" She wondered foolishly. She perfectly knew what he was imagining, but it was just a misunderstanding.

"Why are you doing this to dad?" David complained.

"Doing what, honey?" She wanted him to say things openly.

"This!" David insisted as he shook his arms in front of himself. "Why do you have to be in here naked with uncle Vergil?" He complained.

"I don't see him around and I wasn't naked when he was. When he left, I undressed and got in the tub" Trish thought she didn't have to give him any explanations, but she wanted him to relax.

"But I saw him taking your shirt off!" David kept complaining.

"I asked him for help. I was waring a top under" Trish said simply. "Come here" She forced him to come closer to her. She looked him in the eye but he just lowered his stare. She lifted his face. "What's worrying you, honey?" She asked sweetly.

David looked at her in the eyes. "I'm just afraid that you and uncle Vergil- end up together…" He said slowly and shyly.

"What!" Trish surprised. "Why do you think that?"

"Why?" He said sarcastic. "I've seen how he looks at you and you guys have been acting weird lately. I'm starting to think I prefer uncle Nero now"

"To be your father?" Trish said jokey.

"Hell no! To be around!" David panicked for a second. "At least with him around I'm sure he won't be trying to win your heart"

"Oh, and why is that?" She giggled.

"Because he's just so dumb and innocent. And you are more like made for dad" He said simply.

"Oh, and how's your dad?" Trish asked jokey but still intrigued about knowing the way their son saw them like.

"Well, dad never hesitates. What he wants, he takes. He wants you, he has you in a blink, he says babe and you're at his feet" David said dreamy.

Trish frowned and twisted her lips. "Well, he wasn't always like that"

"Really?" David surprised. "I was just about to say I wanted to be like him when I grow up"

"And that's a good thing" Trish said. "How's your uncle Vergil then?" She felt curious to know his point of view.

"Well…" He thought about it a little. "…he's more discreet. I think he's too clever he'd accomplish his goals without you noticing. He's too clever to fool anyone without their notice" David said pensive.

Trish surprised a little. "I think you are not as wrong"

"Oh, I'm right" David said.

"And what about me?" Trish wondered.

"I think you are the perfect prey" David said.

Trish turned serious. "Prey? For who?"

"Well, I hope not uncle Vergil's, but yes you seemed to be the prey at the park. So, there's more than one demon after you" David said serious. "Will you fight alongside dad once my siblings are born?"

"Well yes, eventually. That's the plan" Trish said hopefully.

"Good. You could use some training and work out, you're a bit out of shape…" David said innocently.

Trish raised both her eyebrows. "I'm not out of shape, I'm pregnant" She complained but still a bit jokey. "I'll show you some of my moves later" She said sweetly as she stared into his eyes lovingly.

Somehow Trish's loving eyes always calm his thoughts. David couldn't help to smile. "I'll be looking forward to that"

"You're so smart, you know that, honey?" Trish said caring as she ran her fingers through Dave's hair.

"Oh, I know that. I didn't get that from dad though…" He giggled.

Trish giggled and grinned when suddenly the door opened and Vergil stopped at the door as he saw David next to Trish.

Trish saw Dave's face suddenly turning serious. She looked back and saw Vergil at the door paralyzed. "Oh Vergil, don't stand there, come in…"

David frowned irritated. He didn't move from his mother's side.

"David was just leaving. He needs a shower too" Trish said simply.

David surprised with what his mother said. Hadn't she listened to him at all? "But I can help you mom" He replied not wanting to go.

"So does your uncle Vergil" Trish replied.

"Listen to your mother, David" Vergil said serious.

David couldn't help to infuriate. He clenched his fists and even a little lightning flowed around them. But he moved and walked past Vergil.

Vergil felt Dave's aura clash with his. He thought Dave had the right to be upset with him, because in the end, his fears weren't completely false. And he wouldn't want to miss this chance; he didn't care for others' thoughts right now. Still he felt this was wrong, but he would stop only if Trish stopped him, no one else. "If you want to stay…" He said to David, but he simply continued his way till he reached his parents room.

"It's okay Vergil, let him go" Trish said simply.

Vergil didn't really care. He couldn't stop staring at Trish in the tub. His heart had suddenly speeded up. But he didn't move from the door; he couldn't tell why he felt this sudden nervousness possess him.

"Are you coming, or what?" Trish said. "I need a hand here"

Vergil gulped as he saw Trish raising a leg out of the water.

"I can't scrub here…" She said sultrily as she gripped from the sides of the tub.

Vergil slowly approached to her just after he closed the door. He crouched next to her without looking at her face. He just stared at the foamy water trying to see through.

"Are you okay?" Trish asked. "Does it bother you that I'm naked in here?"

"What?" He turned to look at her surprised. "No" He looked into her eyes but rapidly turned his look away.

Trish was resting a leg over a knee out of the water, leaving it to Vergil's delight. "Can you scrub my legs? There's still some dried blood on them and I just can't reach…" She said with a smile as she handed Vergil a sponge. Vergil took it nervously, then stuck his hand inside the water to soak and lather it. "Why don't you get that foot stool so you can sit next to me more comfortably?" She told Vergil.

"Right…" He straightened up and went to get that tiny foot stool. It was the one David used to reach the sink and the mirror in the bathroom when he was younger; although, he still uses it.

"Vergil, the sponge!" Trish shouted and giggled, noticing Vergil's nervousness. "You're leaving a trace all around the bathroom"

"Oh… sorry" Vergil said shyly as he took the stool and returned to Trish's side. He sat on the stool and again he didn't turn to look at her. He focused on her legs. He submerged the sponge again then took Trish's leg by the ankle and began to rub her skin all the way from her knee to her foot. "Have your wounds healed yet?" He asked serious.

"Yeah. I'm okay, don't worry" Trish smiled. "It's just the dried blood what's still there"

"Good" Vergil said simply. After finishing her left leg, she switched legs and now exposed the right one. Vergil just rubbed her leg while he held it in the air softly. The water was beginning to darken with all the blood, making Vergil worry. "Are you sure you're not bleeding anymore?" He asked.

"Yeah. I just should've rinsed before you filled the tub. "Trish said simply as she closed her eyes. The warmth of the water relaxed her very much, plus the smell from the bubbles made her remember the numerous times she bathed with Dante in the tub. She couldn't help but smile.

Vergil turned to look at her and he felt she had smiled for him. That made him relax a little as well. At least he was doing something right. And for some reason, he started thinking about the seed; not the one he kept in his pocket, but the one within Trish. Would she even know she has it? He started wondering if that had been the reason why she didn't fall for him. Would things have been different? How could Dante break the spell? The damn uncertainty filled his head with more and more doubts, envy and hatred. What was the difference between him and Dante? He still wondered what could have possibly made Trish fall for Dante. He thought Dante didn't deserve Trish, much less her tears, her love… Why couldn't all be his? He had never spent so much time with Trish before and he felt so good with her. He kept rubbing her skin with his stare lost in the nothingness.

Trish noticed this as she opened an eye to look at him. "Are you okay? You seem pensive" She said suddenly.

"Yes, I was just…thinking… we must be connected. Somehow, I always end up saving your life" Vergil said calmed.

Trish slightly giggled then turned pensive. "You're right… thank you"

That was certainly not the answer he was expecting. He was trying to point out Dante has never been there when she needs him most. He had saved not only her life but Dante's unborn kids' as well. Dante didn't even deserve his help, but he didn't do it for him. He turned to look at Trish's face. Her eyes were closed and her expression seemed simply of joy, pleasure. She even seemed to have fallen asleep. He looked at her from the corner of his eyes suspiciously. "The woman from the baby store stopped by. They brought the cribs we bought yesterday…" He said to know if she was asleep.

"Mhmmm…" Trish barely moaned.

"…I didn't know where you wanted to place them, so they…" He glanced at her for a moment. "…just left them in the office…" He said slowly. He noticed Trish didn't reply so it was evident she must have fallen asleep. "Do you- want me to- rub- your thighs?" He asked foolishly with the hope she would say yes. Trish just took a deep breath in her sleep so he took that as a yes. He had lowered her leg so now both her legs were flexed under the water, leaving only a part of her knees exposed. Vergil introduced the hand with the sponge into the water and he slowly began to slide his hand down her inner thighs; but he wanted to feel her skin so he dropped the sponge and it simply floated in the water. Now he could feel her better. The foamy water let his hand slide smoothly. Trish's head tilted back and she let out a soft moan. That led Vergil to the edge of temptation, his hand was just inches from her pussy and he just couldn't handle this desire.

Vergil stopped his hesitation and reached his middle finger into Trish's pussy. He started sliding it in and out softly feeling her lips and clit. He loved the sensation on his finger and wished she wasn't inside the water. But suddenly Trish moaned Dante's name, getting Vergil out of his fantasies, so he stopped touching her.

"Dante…" Trish moaned in her sleep. She was already dreaming with Dante, with his hands touching throughout her body but mostly between her legs.

Vergil surprised and even pissed as Trish pronounced Dante's name. Couldn't she forget him for a moment at least for once? Not even in her sleep she could betray him. But suddenly Vergil surprised as Trish's hand moved inside the water gripping his forearm, forcing him to touch her pussy again.

"Oh, don't stop…" Trish moaned.

Vergil turned to look at her perplexed. Her eyes were still closed. Could she still be dreaming? Or was she awake now? He wondered, but it wasn't him this time, it was her, asking him to continue. So, he just let himself go. He closed his eyes and made the most of this moment, he didn't care for anything else.

Even inside the water he could feel the wetness between her legs; it felt incredibly smooth as he slid his fingers in and out, and with his thumb he rubbed her clit. Trish was still moaning and he could just feel she did it for him, for this moment together and he had to enjoy it to the max, for he felt this would never happen again. He even started moaning softly. He stared at her sexy face; he was dying to kiss her lips. He was hard as rock, he wished to feel her hands again, touching him. It would surely be magical. He couldn't help to turn even harder as her moans began to intensify.

"Oh yeah… like that… ahh…" Trish moaned with such an alluring voice that even Vergil's heart speeded up as if he were getting closer to climax.

Vergil felt Trish's hands squeezing his forearm then she suddenly let go. But it was then Vergil felt her pussy throbbing so intensely, pulsing around his fingers. He felt her pussy squeezing his fingers so strongly and her moans sounded so delightfully he even moaned too and came in his pants as Trish's thighs were now squeezing his forearm not wanting him to stop.

"Oh- oh- Dante…" Trish moaned.

Vergil was staring at his trousers and the mess he made in them when he heard Trish moan Dante's name again. She was still asleep. She must have been dreaming of him and this had all been because of Dante. He turned to look at her now, he was upset, but it had felt great as well and she hadn't even had the need to touch him. Was it such his desire for her? Why couldn't he get her out of his head?

He pulled his fingers out and just as he did, Trish sat up straight and grabbed from both sides of the tub. She could still feel her pussy throb; she squeezed her thighs together then opened her eyes and sighed. "Vergil…" Trish said surprised to see him there. She was in shock.

Vergil had paralyzed for a moment, but he gulped and pulled his arm out of the water. He stood up and dried his arm with a small towel. He didn't want to look at her now. He was unsure of how to feel. Should he feel ashamed, pleased, upset…? He just blinked slowly and took a deep breath. "If you need anything else, I'll be downstairs" He said serious as he walked towards the door, took his coat and left Trish alone in that big bathroom.

Trish was still surprised, paralyzed, gripping the sides of the tub so strongly. Her chest was still moving in and out with her heavy breathing. It was evident what had just happened. But she was asleep, did that count? She still felt pretty bad for Dante, even for Vergil; it would confuse him more than he already was. She moved a little to the front to wet her hair. She leant back and submerged in the water for instants. She then sat up straight and covered her face with both of her hands. She almost felt like crying, what had she just done? "Oh, God…" She panted. She squeezed her face then just rinsed it several times. She pulled from the plug to drain the tub, she then stood up and closed the curtain. She watched how the bloody water went down the drain. She had so many things in mind and many of them involved Vergil. David was right. Vergil was too clever he could accomplish what he wanted without anyone noticing until it's too late. She switched from the tub to regular shower to rinse all the remaining soap on her body. After she finished, she stepped out of the shower and took a towel. As she dried her body, she noticed there were no more injuries or marks left on her body. She had completely healed. That at least calmed her a little. She reached a hand to her belly and felt the babies move normally. She smiled. She just wished Dante could be there with her. She wrapped herself around the towel and head to the door. She turned off the lights before leaving the bathroom. She then headed to the bedroom and found David there. He seemed to have just taken a shower in the room. He was also wrapped around a towel but by the hips. He was sniffing around their closet, touching and going through all of Dante's clothing.

"David? What are you doing honey?" Trish wondered what he was looking for.

"Nothing" David said as he rapidly closed the closet door and just stood there still. He didn't see Vergil with her so at least he relaxed for a moment.

Trish sat over the bed, she was still a bit tired and thought she needed rest. "I know you miss him greatly, honey. I do too. But he will be back very soon" She said with a smile as she rubbed her round belly.

David turned towards her and approached to her. He put his hands on her knees. "How do you know?" He said staring at her belly. He saw her belly as a time bomb and time seemed to be running out. "When will my siblings be born?"

"Next week probably" Trish said with a smile.

"Really? You look about to explode- ha- ha…" David laughed nervously.

"Why, thank you…" Trish said raising an eyebrow. "That's why I know your father will be here soon. He has to, he promised…"

"If dad doesn't come back in time, will you keep your promise?" David asked uncertain.

Trish turned serious. "Well…" She turned her look to the floor. "…I would"

"And would you take me with you and keep me away from him?" He asked hesitant.

"Honey, if I do, it'd be because he did not return. It wouldn't be me who keeps you away from him" Trish said serious.

"And if he returned a day after?" He kept asking.

Trish just raised an eyebrow a bit upset. "I don't know. We would have to wait and see" She said dryly as she stood up to get some clothes from the closet. "Why don't you go with your uncle Vergil for a while? I want to have some rest, okay" She told David as she picked a silky nightgown to sleep.

David just turned his look down. "Okay..." He sighed. He headed to the door slowly and grabbed the knob. "If you need anything, we'll be downstairs I guess"

Trish turned to look at him. She noticed he was scared of the upcoming days, full of uncertainty and his uncle Vergil's presence in the house didn't make it any easier. But she knew it would be better if they had a long talk. She just laid down on the bed after David left the room.

David went downstairs and as he walked down the steps he heard a phone ring. By the time he reached to the living room, he found Vergil sitting on the sofa turning his phone off. He stood next to him beside the sofa, motionless and with his stare focused on the wooden floor.

Vergil surprised with his presence. "David..." He said dubiously as he put his phone back in his pocket before David would notice; although, it was evident for David that his aunt Lady was calling him and he just didn't want to talk to her.

David was sure that Vergil didn't want her to know he was here, just so he could have more time alone with his mom. He prayed for Dante's return. His presence in the house was essential so everything could settle down. He took a deep breath. "Mom sent me with you for a while. She said she wanted to have some rest" He said serious but evidently not pleased as he sat on the larger sofa.

Vergil could notice that, and not that he cared much about what others think of him, but he didn't want to have such awkward moments with him from now on. "Dave, we need to talk"

"I know" Dave said staring down as he kept at the very edge of the sofa. "You go first"

"How about you go first and tell me what's bothering you" Vergil said as he stood up and went to sit next to Dave on the large sofa.

David hesitated a little, but finally gathered all his thoughts and let them out. "I don't like it when you're too close to my mom, specially when dad's not around" He said with his stare still fixed on the wooden floor.

"Well, if I'm taking care of her, I have to be close, don't you think?" Vergil said clever. "I'm just doing a favor to your father, protecting her"

"Close is one thing, but what you do is different. I've seen how you look at her..." David said as he turned to meet his eyes.

Vergil surprised and gulped. He was about to reply when David interrupted him.

"And I know mom has something special that attracts men, uncle Nero also gets very funny around her, but I feel you cross the line..." David said serious as he turned his face from him.

Vergil sighed. "I would never do anything your mother didn't ask me to" He said remembering what had just happened.

David turned towards him. "You take advantage of her loneliness right now because she misses dad very much and you're like... his twin" He turned his look down and couldn't help to notice something strange at his groin. "What happened to your trousers there?" He pointed at his groin.

"Huh?" Vergil surprised and his cheeks slightly colored in pink, embarrassed. He had forgotten about the mess in his pants. "Accident... in the... bathroom" He said foolishly. He took a deep breath. "Listen, David. I'm not trying to take your father's place, okay?" He said to calm him. I just want all he possesses... He thought to himself.

"Then why did you tell that lady your name was Dante?" David asked.

"Because if that woman ever comes back, she will meet your father, not me. It's better if she knows his name, not mine" Vergil said clever.

"Okay..." David thought that made a bit of sense. But still, he wasn't so convinced like to believe he wasn't hiding a plan behind all this charade. "And what if dad never returns? What would you do?" He dared to ask.

"Well, I don't know. I wouldn't want to leave your mother deserted. I- would..." Vergil was interrupted.

"What about aunt Lady? Would you abandon her to be with my mom, to protect her?" David asked curious.

Vergil took a deep breath. "There is nothing that attaches me to Mary..." He thought out loud. "...David, it is indeed a complicated situation. But I would only do whatever your mother lets me, whatever she wants. And if that means I would have to make a decision, I wouldn't hesitate"

"You would choose my mom, I have that clear" David said simply and emotionless. "You've always loved her, haven't you?"

Vergil kept silent for a moment. But his silence was giving away the evident. "You are a very smart kid, I have to admit. Although you didn't get that from your father" He replied before answering the real question.

"I know. But that's not what I asked" David said serious.

"You didn't let me finish. You keep interrupting me, that you did get from your father. Nevertheless, it was I who met her first and..." He kept pensive for a moment as if having flashbacks of the moment they met for the first time. "... I don't think there could be a man or demon who could resist her charms. She simply has that power, it's inevitable" He suddenly stood up and headed to the bathroom. He needed to wash the mess in his pants before it dried completely.

But David wouldn't leave things like that. He followed him to the bathroom and stood outside of the door. "Why are you with aunt Lady then, if you don't love her?"

Vergil was rinsing his underwear and trousers in the sink, then surprised with Dave's question. He looked at himself in the mirror. "I do" He said simply. But did he really?

"Right... but if you could have a chance with my mom, you wouldn't miss it" David said cocky, pissing Vergil off.

Suddenly Vergil opened the bathroom door, exasperated. "Enough! I'm sick of listening to your whining! If your father doesn't return, I will do the impossible to keep your mother by my side, regardless of what you want. So you better start praying for his return" He said pissed as the words simply came out naturally.

"My mom would never love you" David replied.

"Things could change" Vergil said certain.

They glared at each other with all the rage they were both holding back. Vergil did not falter despite the anger he felt at the moment. The more he looked into Dave's eyes, the more he saw Dante in him. They were like a mirror image, reminding him of their past childhood. All that rage suddenly vanished; Vergil controlled. It wasn't Dave's fault to be Dante's son. He was innocent and Vergil could never hurt him for he was not only Dante's son but Trish's as well. And he would never want to hurt her in any way.

David noticed Vergil's sudden calmness. "Huh?" He surprised.

"What is it?" Vergil asked simply.

"Why don't we settle this in the basement?" Dave said foolish.

"Settle what?" Vergil said arrogantly, raising an eyebrow. The way David acted kept reminding him of the way Dante acted as a child. He could see Dave was still pissed and this whole situation simply made him feel uptight. "Your father is coming back. You can be at ease. Your fears will never come true..." He said to calm him a little.

"Huh?" David surprised again, but strangely calmed as well. "You seemed very assured before" He said staring at Vergil and blinking slowly.

"We can still go practice a little in the basement, if you're willing to, of course" Vergil said serious, then added. "I'm curious about that amulet again" He kneeled at Dave's level and grabbed the amulet. The red gem seemed to have filled with blood but not in its entirety, for half of the gem had a different glow, a different red color. As if it hadn't reached the power needed to transform. But transform into what? What is the real power of this amulet? He wondered while he still held it in his hand.

David felt a little awkward with his uncle Vergil paralyzed in front of him, holding the amulet and with his stare lost in the nothingness. "Okay..." He said serious as he took the amulet from Vergil's hand wanting him to loosen up his hold on it. He felt he wanted to take it from him. "...let's continue training"

Vergil returned from his thoughts and couldn't help to stare at Dave's hand. The bracelet on his right wrist called his attention as well. It was no longer of a silver color; it was beginning to turn darker, almost black. He suddenly stood up. "Alright"

They headed to the basement and as they went down the stairs, David started asking questions again.

"Do you really love aunt Lady?" David asked foolish.

"I told you I do" Vergil said simply.

"Because she is too nice and cute for you to be doing this to her" David added.

"Ugh…" Vergil annoyed. "… you are indeed so much alike your father" He said as he continued walking down the stairs. "…and what am I doing, according to you?" He turned to look at David as he stopped before the door of the basement.

"Well, for starters, you're in love with my mom" David said simply.

Vergil raised an eyebrow. This kid is surely very blunt. "I'm not in love with your mother" He said twisting his lips.

"You just said you were, are you lying to me?" David said intriguing.

"Listen…" Vergil said evidently annoyed. "…my thing with your mother is nothing more than a fantasy, that's all" He said supposedly clever.

"Poor aunt Lady and there she is waiting for you at home, but you will never arrive…" David said as if he were acting, with so much feeling and exaggeration; he glimpsed at Vergil and closed his eyes in a flash as he noticed he was looking at him. "…and still my mom owns your thoughts and your heart…" He kept exaggerating mockingly.

Vergil simply smacked him on the head. "Enough!" He said pissed. He couldn't stop thinking of Dante and their countless fights when they were kids, and things never changed within the years. "If your intent was to piss me off, you've done it, kid!"

Vergil walked in to the training room followed by David.

30 MINUTES EARLIER…

Lady returned home from the job. She had gotten Chinese food for dinner. "Vergil!" She yelled. "I'm home!" She walked straight into the kitchen to leave the food. Then she left Kalina Ann in a closet under the stairs. "Vergil!" She yelled again for she didn't get any answer, and still nothing. "Are you upstairs?" She asked as she headed upstairs. She opened the door to the bedroom thinking he'd be there. "Oh Vergil, you have no idea of the job I had, I almost got myself cut in two. I had to charge extra and…" She was undressing herself to get in the shower and when she turned and didn't see him anywhere around the room, that uncertainty that had been filling her every pore lately, returned to make her night miserable. She opened the bathroom door hoping to find him there, but it didn't surprise her not to find him there. She took a deep breath and decided to just shower before anything else. She really needed that shower.

She got dressed as to go out. She took her phone and called Vergil, but it rang only once and then a machine answered saying the number was out of range or off. She felt helpless; she thought of calling Nero but she didn't want to sound desperate just because she couldn't find him when she returned home. Perhaps she was being paranoid and he went out to buy something he needed, or dinner. She waited for a while. She kept staring at the clock, time seemed to be ticking away very slowly. It felt eternal and it had just been an hour. She felt pretty anxious, not to mention her last job had made her feel very hungry, and she hadn't had dinner yet, waiting for Vergil. She thought perhaps he had visited Nero and since Nero was making Trish company, he could be there too. So, she called the Devil May Cry but she got no answer. She found it odd, although it was a bit late. She didn't want to be a bother but damn uncertainty was eating her up alive. So, she decided to wait for a little longer.

Despite the noise Vergil and David were making in the basement and the resonance of their training that filled every room in the house, Trish slept like an angel; so peacefully. Nothing could bother her sleep. More than sleeping, she was recovering completely from the previous battle. She really didn't want her pregnancy to be affected, so her hours of rest were simply to replenish her power, her stamina, her vitality mostly. Knowing her son saw her as a prey now and not as the fearless demoness she used to be, really affected her. She wanted her old lifestyle back. She couldn't wait any longer. She had the need, the urge to hunt demons again; she longed for that pleasurable feeling that only killing demons could provide. All that power running through her body, her blood boiling in the heat of an intense battle; but finally, the countdown was beginning. It was just a matter of days for the babies to be born and to have Dante back. She was sure he would soon arrive. At least in her dreams, he was just a whisper away. She could almost touch him, feel him; she felt herself flying as if all of a sudden, she had left her body to go with him. But she didn't fly up to the sky, she flew down to hell to find him. But as she got closer the air felt too thin, she almost felt like she couldn't breathe, but still she wanted to cross to the Underworld; she needed to see him just to know he was alive.

Dante was still fighting hordes of demons and with his new Devil Arm Balrog, it seemed easier to destroy them, but they just didn't stop coming. He was getting sick of this, all he wanted was to go back home, see Trish's face, her gorgeous eyes; he felt he was going crazy. And time in hell simply felt endless, and this battle simply infinite. Was he bound for staying trapped in hell? But suddenly, in his madness, he heard her voice.

"Dante…" Trish whispered.

Dante even stopped fighting for a moment. It couldn't be real; was he hallucinating already? "Trish?" He called out her name, and did a 360 turn, looking for her. And suddenly he saw a strange mist in between the demons. But this mist possessed a special power that even the demons couldn't get near it. And as it scattered, he saw her. It was Trish. He couldn't believe his eyes, she was just a few steps away from him, hovering in the air. He couldn't help but smile, he was so happy to see her. He really needed to see her face again, her gorgeous eyes, her special smile. "Baby…" He whispered blissfully, but his smile vanished as he realized her silhouette was just a cloud of mist. "Baby…?" His whisper turned into a desperate and anxious scream. "Trish, are you okay?" He longed to touch her. It was as if time had stopped and every demon around them as well. He wondered why she looked like that. Had something happened to her? This new uncertainty made him reach his limit of anxiety. "Trish!" He yelled trying to reach out to her, he needed to feel her. But as he moved, he felt his body so heavy, he even felt he was moving in slow motion, and the more he advanced, getting closer to her, the more she seemed to fade away. But it was only him now moving in slow motion. The demons wouldn't let him escape. They used their chained weapons to stab Dante in the back and bring him closer to them and away from Trish. But that wouldn't stop him. He still hurried to reach her but it seemed that he was pulled away from her for miles, so he pulled out Rebellion and slashed the demons surrounding him; although he kept moving slow, as if it was a demon causing this.

"Dante…" Trish whispered softly. "…come back to me" She reached out to him. She so much longed for his touch.

Dante impressively advanced slaying the demons separating them, until he spotted a different one. He pulled out Ebony and Ivory and aimed straight to his head. The bullets were burning with power inside the barrels. Dante fired and even in slow motion he shot once with Ebony and several times with Ivory. Each bullet hitting the previous one to speed up the first shot. Not even slow motion could affect his perfect aim. The bullet pierced the demon's head and it instantly blew off. The time returned to normalcy for Dante. He had been right. He managed to reach Trish and just when he touched her hand she smiled and looked at him lovingly.

He wanted to touch her face, to pull her closer, but she vanished into thin air just before his eyes. He blinked slowly, smiling as he took in her scent. He had no idea of how that happened, but he really needed that. They had been just a whisper away. He was so close; it might have been a sign that the time was coming, he needed to hurry. He kept paralyzed, lost in his thoughts as if time had stopped again. But he was shortly brought back to reality as the demons around him, all threw their lances, scythes and blades at him, attacking him from every direction.

Dante's body was stabbed by different weapons; he spat blood and instantly grinned devilishly as he held two different chains that were strapped to the scythes. "I'm coming baby…" He said slyly then pulled from the chains bringing the demons closer. He pulled out the scythes from his chest and cast each of them in opposite directions. The scythes started spinning in the air causing the demons holding them to follow the parabola movement. The scythes slashed every demon surrounding Dante then he simply jumped high into the air pulling out Ebony and Ivory. He started shooting like mad to the demons till he reached ground again. By then, the chains had encircled the demons, and each scythe pierced its own wielder in the end just between the eyes, at the same time that Dante started pulling every blade and lance out of his body to cast them to their original wielders. "Jackpot! Gives the chills, don't it?" Dante said cocky as the last lance pierced between the eyes of the remaining demon. They all turned to dust and scattered around.

Dante's body healed pretty fast, and even though he had gotten rid of a decent number of demons, there were still many left alive. He needed to hurry, but most importantly, he needed to find out how to use the fragment of Yamato to open a portal and escape from hell.

That strange vision of Trish was his motivation to keep going, his reason to return, his drive. He had made a promise to Trish and he was not planning to break it. There was no force, nor power in the two worlds that could stop him from going back; nothing would keep him away from his family. He'd be there when his kids born, just as promised.

He kept fighting fiercely, destroying every demon he found until there'd be no more left.

In the Devil May Cry, Trish still slept peacefully. There was a special smile on her face. And while nothing bothered her pleasant dreams, Vergil and David kept an arduous training.

For a strange reason, this time, David hadn't been able to use his powers wearing the amulet. Vergil couldn't understand why, if he had just done it hours ago and in an impressive way, being able to control his demon for the first time. Despite David's numerous tries, he simply opted to take it off.

They had been training for about an hour. Vergil kept training David to improve his speed for despite his tremendous power, his abilities and skills were still limited. Poor David had been hit hundreds of times already unable to evade Vergil's impressively fast attacks. David was exhausted but as stubborn as his father, there'd be nothing that could stop him from achieving his goals. And his main goal at the moment was to improve his skills to become someone like his father to protect his mother no matter who the enemy was or how powerful it could be.

"I have an idea" Vergil said suddenly.

"Hmm?" David stopped for a moment. "What?" He made the most of this pause to take a breath.

"How about you train with demons now?" Vergil said serious as he approached to the computer. He started the mechanism and set everything to make certain type of demons appear.

"Okay…" David said a bit uncertain, but perhaps that was the best training for him. He was standing at the middle of the training room. He had no idea of what type of demons could show up. He had never really seen any of this in use before, but he braced himself up.

Suddenly and like zombies emerging from the ground, the place began to infest with demons. David just turned around and around watching all the demons surrounding him. "But uncle Vergil!" He yelled complaining. "All the demons are carrying weapons while I have nothing! Not fair!" He evaded a few blades and scythes before beginning to counterattack. "I don't have any guns or a sword to defend myself!"

Vergil rolled his eyes annoyed. "You have your legs and arms! Now be quiet and show me what you've learned!" He said serious. "You won't always be armed when demons appear out of nowhere!" He kept yelling at him trying to encourage him. Somehow, Vergil was reliving his childhood through David, although he was forcing him through the same path. Vergil didn't show it, but he was exhausted as well, but having David around wouldn't give him any rest.

"Are these demons real?" David shouted to Vergil.

Vergil rolled his eyes again. "Of course not. They're hologram demons, they can't harm you…" He said annoyed.

The clash of the demons' weapons provoked a loud creaking sound. It sounded, looked and felt too real to be hologram. "Well… they seem very real to me!" David said as a scythe almost ripped his nose off from the left. His eyes opened widely in shock as he evaded the attack dashing backwards just in time. "That was close…" He said breathless.

Vergil turned to the screen and looked where it said hologram. The square beside it was marked with an "X". They had to be hologram. He slowly turned towards David then rapidly back at the screen and saw that right beside the square marked with the "X" was the word active followed by demon. Then he noticed on the left side of the word hologram was another box unmarked. "Shit!" He turned to look at David and how he was struggling with these demons and since it was a computerized mechanism, the demons just wouldn't cease to appear. "Maybe they are…" Vergil was saying though a bit hesitant as he saw the damage they could inflict. He saw how two demons cast their chained scythes towards David; he evaded one on the right, then one on the left then pulled from the chains whipping them against the ground lifting the demons in the air; he started spinning them then let the chains loose forming a deadly whirlwind of scythes that killed the wielders and the demons around him. But as he tried to leap away from that whirlwind to not get caught, another demon reached him from behind. A scythe stabbed through his chest; he instantly spat blood then reached his hands to the scythe in his chest. "…not- hologram…" He continued.

David panted as he felt himself faint, he started seeing double.

Vergil paralyzed for a moment. "David!" He yelled in fear. That didn't look any good and to top it off another demon stabbed him from the front. He didn't hesitate and ran towards David. He summoned swords and directed them to the demons around Dave. They retreated their weapons making David's wounds more severe. David spat blood again as the scythes were pulled out from his chest and stomach. He reached his hands to the open wounds then simply looked down at his bloody hands; he was shaking then simply collapsed on the ground.

"David!" Vergil yelled desperate. He felt guilty about this, but it made him remember his childhood once again; something very similar had happened to him except he wasn't as young as David. He kneeled beside him and saw the amulet on Dave's pocket. He pulled it out and took it. "Well, this thing doesn't work to keep demons away…" Although he wasn't really wearing it. Suddenly, Vergil felt how the amulet pulsated and noticed Dave's body also pulsated as if his demon had awoken. He noticed Dave's hand started switching to demon form; as Vergil held the amulet over Dave's wounds, the amulet seemed to be absorbing Dave's blood. Then in a blink, David turned to demon form and completely healed. His eyes opened, shining with a deep red color.

Vergil instinctively retreated, but he kept the amulet. He felt he'd need it to recover David's humanity. His eyes simply denoted no control, no mercy, no feelings at all. He wondered if the difference between David and Nero was because he was more demon than human. But it wasn't time to be wondering things; he needed to deactivate the mechanism to make the demons stop appearing. He hurried back to the computer and turned everything off. David would just need now, to get rid of the ones surrounding him. He eliminated them in a few seconds, but the hunger for more wouldn't leave him that easily.

David turned around looking for a new prey and Vergil was the only one around.

Vergil raised an eyebrow. "Why are you looking at me like that?"

Dave's wicked eyes sparkled as he grinned devilishly, for he had found a new prey.

"Hey! I'm your uncle!" Vergil said trying to make him recover consciousness. He held the amulet hoping to put it around his neck shortly.

David growled and launched at him. Vergil managed to dodge his attacks, but David's speed had increased.

"You are an annoying kid…" Vergil said trying to find the perfect moment to put him on the amulet, but David kept moving a lot, and at least in his demon form, he seemed to have mastered Vergil's teleportation technique.

David started releasing lightning and there was no possible way Vergil could avoid it. Vergil almost paralyzed with the amount of shock he received. His whole body even trembled from head to toes and he collapsed on the ground face down. "…a very- annoying kid" He muttered.

David stood before him and saw Vergil was holding the amulet in his right hand. He stomped on it, trying to force him to let it go. But Vergil just grinned.

"You- want this?" Vergil grinned devilishly. It was time to tame the beast.

After noticing Vergil wouldn't let it go, David started stomping on his hand with more force and even lightning, but in one of his attempts Vergil turned only his arm to demon form and grasped Dave's ankle pulling him to the ground. He then stood up in a flash and threw David in the air together with the amulet with an amazing amount of power. This time it seemed his face and part of his body were turning to demon form for only moments as he spoke. "Fetch!"

David was sent flying at a great speed, but before he would reach the other end of the room, Vergil teleported behind him taking the amulet and putting it around his neck. David instantly recovered his human form.

"When did I put this on?" David wondered as he grabbed the amulet with both of his hands and stared at it confused. It seemed to have filled more, close to reach completion. "What happened?"

Vergil was still holding him and they were just descending to the ground. "You don't remember?" He raised an eyebrow annoyed again.

David rapidly reached his hands to his chest and stomach. "I remember the demons stabbed me with those huge scythes and the rest is kinda vague…"

"Hmph…" Vergil shook his head. "…well, you Devil Triggered and killed all demons, then attacked me, so I put you the amulet back on" He said simply.

"I meant what happened to the amulet, it looks different" David said confused still.

Vergil put David down on the ground and crouched at his level. He grabbed the amulet and stared at it. It seemed very close to reach completion. "It did change…" He said serious as he stood up. "…well…" He took a deep breath then continued. "…when you had your wounds opened, I simply held it close to you and it seemed to have absorbed your blood and it must have filled up more" He was giving his back at David. He simply folded his arms and closed his eyes pensive.

David walked and stood in front of him. "But I didn't bleed last time and it seemed to have filled up to the half. What is this thing?" He wondered as he held the amulet in his hand.

Vergil opened an eye and glimpsed at him. He turned his look elsewhere. "Well, that is how your grandfather created amulets. They hold magic powers and they require sacrifices or other things to fulfill its true purpose…" He remembered the amulets both Dante and him were gifted with when they were kids. Those amulets had caused a lot of troubles, but in the end, they merged and became the Devil Sword Sparda.

"What?" David asked curious.

Vergil turned to look at him. "What what?" He wondered foolish.

David laughed. "You sounded like my dad!"

Vergil straightened up and cleared his throat. "That is nonsense"

"Well… we should go get something to eat, I'm starving" David said simply as if nothing would have happened.

"As a matter of fact, I'm hungry as well" Vergil said simply. They turned everything off and headed to the kitchen.

"Cook me something" Dave said to Vergil as he sat by the table.

"Of course, your majesty. Would you like fries with that?" Vergil said sarcastic as he raised an eyebrow.

"Ooh… I love fries" David's eyes sparkled.

Vergil just faced palmed. "I was being sarcastic" He moved his coat back and reached his hands to his pockets. He noticed David stared at him expectantly. He raised an eyebrow. "I'm not getting food from my pockets. I'm not a magician" He said annoyed.

"Aww…" David complained.

"We could always go get your mother and ask her to cook something" Vergil said simply, still with his hands in his pockets.

"But mom said she needed rest and I don't- want to bother her…" David's expression turned a little sad all of a sudden.

"Or not. What do you suggest then?" Vergil asked.

"We could always order pizza…" David said as he kept his stare down, toying with his fingers, avoiding Vergil's look.

Vergil turned to look at David and just raised an eyebrow. He hated having to eat Dante's favorite, but he really didn't have much of a choice. "Do you know the number?" He asked giving up.

"Of course!" David jumped off the chair and went straight to the phone.

Vergil raised an eyebrow surprised. "You go ahead…"

"You'll pay for it right?" David wondered as he dialed the number.

"Of course. I'm not your father who never pays for a bloody thing" Vergil said complaining about Dante.

"He must pay something…" David said dubious. Suddenly somebody answered on the other side of the receiver. "Oh, hello! Can I order a pizza to the Devil May Cry?" David asked excited; he had never really ordered pizza before.

"Can I speak to your father first?" The girl replied.

David's smiley face changed in a second, and Vergil noticed that. He approached to him and took the phone. "Hello?"

"Mr. Dante?" The woman replied.

Vergil just rolled his eyes annoyed and took a deep breath. "Yes…" He said dryly.

"Oh, your voice sounds different…" The woman said shyly.

"I- umm… I have a sore throat…" Vergil said foolish.

"I like it…" The woman replied but there was no answer from the other side. "…umm… the usual?" She asked after the awkward silence.

"Yes, whatever…" He didn't even know how to order a pizza or what the usual was.

She thought "Dante" was a bit quiet and wondered if it was because she asked to speak to him instead of letting the kid order. She thought of apologizing somehow. "I'm sorry I asked to speak to you, I just wanted to make sure it wasn't a prank or something…" She always gets nervous when speaking to Dante. "…like if you paid anyway…" And ends up saying dumb things.

"Pardon me?" Vergil asked offended, although of course she wasn't really referring to him but to Dante.

"…oh, I'm sorry. I'm- not complaining- or else…" She thought she just screwed up. "It's on the way!" She said nervous and hung up right away.

Vergil was getting used to be mistaken for Dante, still he didn't like it. He turned to look at David and noticed him a bit sad. "Hey, what's the matter kid?"

"She asked to speak to dad" David said somewhat upset. "She thinks if dad was here, I'd make the call?" He said complaining.

"She doesn't know that" Vergil said to soothe him. He didn't know why he tried to do it though. But he didn't want him to be upset about Dante still. "He will be back soon" He said as he crouched at his level and looked into his eyes.

"You really think so?" David said surprised.

Vergil just nodded and strangely smiled after David smiled.

"I thought you didn't want him back" David said confused.

"When have I said the opposite?" Vergil said smiling slyly. He stood up and turned away from David. "That doesn't mean he won't come back" He turned serious. "He's not like me"

"What do you mean?" David wondered.

"I would have stayed in hell if I could" Vergil said thoughtlessly.

"Yeah, that's something I've always been curious about" He took Vergil by the hand and pulled him into the living room. He sat on a sofa and kinda motioned him to do the same.

Vergil just raised an eyebrow confused, but David pulled from him and he had to sit down.

"Tell me about it. Why would you prefer to be in hell? It's not a nice place. I know it. I've been there" David said serious.

Vergil surprised a little. He raised an eyebrow and took a deep breath. "Well…" He hesitated about telling him the whole truth, but he was speaking to a kid after all. It really didn't matter. "...first I didn't have a choice. I hated the place. Specially because I had lost my sword Yamato" He started speaking more openly.

"You lost it?" David confused and thought it was a bit hard to lose a sword.

"I was deprived of it, to be more specific" Vergil continued. "After a fight I had with your father many years ago, I realized we were very different despite the fact of being twins. Our ambitions were very different so I thought perhaps in hell I could find the answers I needed, find a place to belong. After all, it was once our father's home. I mistakenly thought in hell I could acquire all the power I urged for…"

David was paying attention even to the tiniest detail. His uncle Vergil had never really spoken as much and the story of his life sounded quite interesting. He didn't make a single noise; he didn't want to miss a thing. He looked at him focused even though Vergil kept his stare to the nothingness.

"…but for my disgrace, I realized too soon that hell is nothing more than a world of illusions and misery, a world of betrayal. It was no wonder Sparda rather live in the human world. I thought I could gain more power and I lost it all as soon as I set foot on its venomous lands" Vergil said serious.

Despite David's young age, he was understanding a bit more why his uncle Vergil is like he is. He was eager to know what happened next. He noticed Vergil stopped talking, but he couldn't leave him like that. "What happened when you got there, the first thing?" He asked so Vergil would keep talking.

"The first thing?" Vergil glimpsed at David then kept his stare to the nothingness, remembering his past. "I encountered Mundus" He said serious and with certain hatred in his voice, in his whole expression.

"Oh yeah. Mom and Dad have told me about him and what he did…" David said intriguing, hoping Vergil could continue and give him more details about him. Not that he had never been curious before, but he had never found a moment to ask him all these things and that he would actually answer.

"Then you must know it was then that- your father and I took separate ways" Vergil said serious as he glimpsed at David for a moment.

"You mean after grandma was murdered?" David said hesitant.

Vergil took a deep breath and closed his eyes. "Well- yes… although that day I thought I had lost Dante as well. I couldn't find him or any trace of him near" He opened his eyes and turned his look up to the ceiling. "I felt responsible for it. As the older brother, I should've protected him and our mother. That day changed my life. They took from me not only my family but my innocence, all the joy a child should have…" He kept silent for a moment and very serious.

David gulped, even his expression changed. He turned his look down.

Vergil turned to look at him. "What's the matter?" He asked.

"It's just- I couldn't picture a world without mom and dad. My siblings aren't even born yet, but I would do anything to protect them… I can't imagine what you felt that moment" David said serious while he kept his stare on the wooden floor.

Vergil took a deep breath. He closed his eyes and it was as if he relived the tragedy, every second of it. "Trust me- you don't want to feel anything like it" He opened his eyes. "It was that night that my demon awoke and I began to understand things. Everything started to make sense. I knew Dante had to be alive. He had to have survived like I did. But if he didn't care to find me, I wouldn't either" He said serious.

David didn't know what to say. He kinda figured where that hate towards his father came from. "Then what happened when- you encountered Mundus?" He dared to ask.

"I- was defeated. I felt so weak I couldn't even hold my sword. That's when he took it from me. And without it I could never be able to return to the human world. I was doomed. He tortured me first, revealing the truth and his true identity. He had been the one responsible for our mother's death. He's the one who started it all" Vergil kept talking. It was the first time ever that he spoke of something so personal. Nobody else knew this much of him, of his life, no one. "He tried to turn me into one of his servants but I refused at first. I needed to obtain more power by my own means, all I wanted was to kill him…" He made a sudden pause. "…I spent years failing, and the more time passed, the more I buried the light in me, sinking in the darkness of hell. It was when I lost every ounce of faith I had left, that Trish was created. She brought back the light in me, digging me up from the darkness. She made me recover my sanity, my will to keep fighting…" His face strangely lit up as he spoke of her and David could notice that and the sudden change on his face. "…but it didn't last long…" The thought of the Seed of Love suddenly filled his thoughts, he kept pensive.

"Why?" David asked intrigued.

"She was given a mission. She was taken from me. It was then I had nothing left to lose and so I succumbed to Mundus and became Nelo Angelo. I was deprived of my memory, my essence to become a more powerful demon" Vergil said serious. "My soul was corrupted to…"

David was attentive to his uncle Vergil's story when suddenly someone knocked on the door. "Pizza!" David couldn't be any more pissed. He had to interrupt just now?

Vergil went to get the door. He took the pizza, paid the guy with a 20-dollar bill and told the guy to keep the change. He went back inside, closing the door right after and heading straight into the kitchen. David followed him hoping he'd continue with the story; he was still very hungry so he did want to eat anyway.

They started eating then Vergil turned quiet again. After a while and when it seemed David wouldn't eat any more pizza, he grabbed another slice and asked a new question to his uncle Vergil.

"So, what happened when you were Nelo Angelo? Did you have another face?" David asked foolish.

Vergil raised an eyebrow. "Of course, I gave up my humanity to become Nelo Angelo. It was as if my old self was buried deep down the carcass of this demon I became" He continued telling David about his life as Nelo Angelo, although he had almost no memory about it. He knew his mission was to kill Dante and he had failed as Nelo Angelo as well. He just remembered being defeated by Dante; he was freed from Mundus' command but he lost the only possession he cared about. His amulet. The only memento of his mother. He had vanished and returned to the depths of hell as he recovered his memory, his soul and his essence but still, he couldn't have Yamato nor his amulet. He would be trapped again in hell with no way out. He had lost even his motivation, and being defeated by Dante once more simply increased his hate towards him, that sibling rivalry. Life in hell was not life. You couldn't have a moment of peace, a night of rest. You had to always be alert. He was deprived of everything, every human feeling, every human need; even time passed without his notice. "…until one day, I found her again and I felt Yamato one more time and very near"

"Her you mean mom?" David dared to ask.

"Yes. I found your mother again in hell about 5 or 6 years ago. I can't explain the bliss I felt when I saw her, but again I couldn't have her. She told me she was with your father and besides she was pregnant so…" Vergil's face turned sad again. "…I had to draw the line and accept my place" He made a pause to then continue. "Then your father came to rescue her and at least he returned to me my Yamato" He said with almost no emotion at all. "And after a battle against a powerful enemy they convinced me to return to the human world and I did. We returned with the help of Yamato"

David frowned confused. "Does your sword work as a means to create portals between the two worlds?" He wondered.

"Something like that, yes" Vergil replied simply.

"Then, if dad had your sword he could come back from hell?" He asked regaining hope.

"If, he had it yes, although he doesn't know how to use it and it is not in his possession, not even in mine right now" Vergil grinned slyly.

"Who has it?" David wondered.

"Nero" Vergil said simply.

David just shook his head. "But you could use it to go there and bring dad back?" David said without losing hope.

"Such is your urge to see him?" Vergil asked to what David just nodded and stared into his eyes with such tenderness it reminded him of Trish. He shook his head and grinned. "Don't worry. Somehow, your father always finds a way out of every hole he falls into, no matter the depth of it" He tried to give him some hope.

Suddenly they heard the main door opening. "Trish? Girl, are you down here?" Lady yelled as she let herself in. She had brought the Chinese food she bought to at least share it with them for dinner. She headed to the kitchen to leave it there while she found Trish.

Vergil's eyes opened widely. "Mary…" He murmured to himself. He stood up from the chair and took David by the arm pulling him into the Laundry Room. David grabbed the empty pizza box and tossed it close to the trash can.

Lady entered to the kitchen and found it empty, but the lights were on. She found it odd, but still she left the food over the table. "Where is everybody? Nero? David?" She shouted hoping to get a reply.

David was just about to reply from the Laundry Room but Vergil covered his mouth just in time.

"Be quiet" Vergil whispered serious.

"Why do you keep hiding from aunt Lady?" David wondered as he moved Vergil's hand from his mouth to speak.

"It's complicated. I just- don't want her to know I'm here" Vergil said slowly.

Lady headed upstairs hoping to find someone. She kept repeating Nero's name and David's but she got no answer. She stood at the middle of the hall and decided to call Nero.

Nero was home with Kyrie when he heard his phone ringing. The moment he saw it was Lady, he turned all nervous. "Hello?"

"Hey Nero, where are you?" Lady asked and before Nero could answer she continued. "If you had to go, you should've just said so, or you took them out for dinner, perhaps?" She wondered.

Nero confused a little. He was unsure of what was really happening. "Are you at Dante's?" He asked first.

"Yeah, but I couldn't find anyone so I thought you should know" Lady replied.

Nero hesitated for a moment. Where could Vergil have possibly taken them? "Well... I- had to do some- things and I left just minutes ago. I left them asleep. Have you- checked on- Trish's room?" He said dubious. He wasn't even sure she'd be there but now he wanted to know. "She should be asleep"

"Oh no, not yet, I was just half way there. Let me check on Trish" She said as she approached to the last room at the end of the hall and knocked first. After no answer she dared to open the door. "Trish? Are you awake?" She asked. She did find her asleep but she woke up with Lady's voice.

"Lady? What's wrong? What are you doing here?" Trish asked feeling a bit dazed. She felt pretty weird after that dream, it had felt so real; she had even smelled Dante's scent, she still remembered his voice. "Where am I?"

Lady worried a little with Trish's confusion. "Hey Nero? I'll call you back" She said through the phone.

Nero worried a little. "Hey Lady, what's the matter? Is she okay?" He asked suddenly agitated. He just wanted to know she was okay.

"Yeah, she was sleeping, but she's acting a bit strange" Lady was about to hang up when she remembered what she called him for in the first place. "Nero, have you seen Vergil" She asked at last.

"Vergil?" Nero replied foolishly. He needed to think of something fast. "Ummm... yeah. He stopped by a little while ago but he left. He should be arriving home any time I guess" He instantly felt bad for lying. Now he was covering for Vergil too.

"Oh, okay. Thanks" Lady said a bit relieved as she hung up. "Trish? Are you okay?" She asked as she approached to her and sat next to her on the bed.

"Yeah, it's just- I think I had a dream, but it felt- so real..." She began regaining consciousness and her first thought was Vergil. Where is he? Trish wondered. Lady seemed to be looking for him so he should be hiding somewhere in the house.

"I know what you mean. I've had dreams like that before. Was it pleasant at least? Mine never are" Lady said.

"Well, I saw Dante. I- kinda traveled to the Underworld and he was still fighting demons, but he said he was coming. He seemed happy to see me. Then his expression changed, he seemed anxious, desperate to touch me, to feel me... I remember his hands touched me in the end. I can still smell him... then he smiled back at me..." Trish smiled while saying that.

"Oh, I woke you up? I'm sorry" Lady felt a little embarrassed.

"It's okay, don't worry" Trish sat up straight. "What brings you here anyway?" She wondered.

"I'm sorry I dropped by so late. I didn't find Vergil when I got back home and I thought he could be here with Nero or something" Lady said simply.

"Oh, Nero left a little while ago, he had something important to do. I didn't want to bother you so late so I told him not to call you" Trish said simply. She didn't want to lie to Lady but she really didn't have a choice.

"It's okay, it's no bother. You can call me anytime" Lady said with a smile. "What are friends for then?"

Trish felt a bit bad for her. "You're right..."

"Umm... anyway I brought dinner. Did you guys have dinner yet?" She wondered.

"I didn't. I'm sure Nero and David did" Trish said as she got out of bed and put on some slippers.

"Well at least you and me can enjoy dinner" Lady said with a smile as she followed Trish downstairs.

Trish entered to the kitchen and the first thing she noticed was the pizza box beside the trash can. "See? They ordered pizza"

"Well, more for you and me" Lady said with a chuckle.

They were enjoying dinner. Trish was very hungry and eating kind of fast but still she couldn't help to notice worry in Lady's face. "Lady? Are you alright? You look stressed, anxious maybe?" Trish asked curious.

"Oh, don't worry about me. I'm fine" Lady lied. But she really didn't want to worry Trish with her problems right now.

"C'mon, you can trust me" Trish said caring. She had almost finished dinner.

"Well... it's just- I- I'm worried about Vergil" Lady finished and left the chopsticks over the table. "Things seem to be perfect and then every time I come back home, he's never there. I told you it wasn't like him to be so nice, so kind and caring. I don't know why he keeps doing that. He makes me feel so special to then just- vanish into thin air" Lady said with tears in her eyes and her voice shaky.

Vergil was still there behind the door of the Laundry Room, he couldn't help to overhear their conversation. He gulped as he heard Lady's sobs. He closed his eyes and touched the door with his palm. He didn't want her to cry for his fault; he wanted to hold her in his arms and comfort her, tell her everything was fine, but he couldn't. Suddenly David pulled from his hand and whispered.

"We should better go back to the basement" David pulled from him to the stairs. He could hear his aunt Lady's sobs as well and if it made him feel bad, he was sure it made his uncle Vergil feel worse. And even more because he was the one responsible for those tears.

Vergil didn't say a word and simply followed him down to the basement. They tried not to make a single noise till they reached there.

Trish put her hand over Lady's. "It's okay, you don't have to be afraid. Vergil loves you very much. He just- has very weird ways of showing it. He- has his own issues he needs to solve, maybe that's why he disappears into thin air so often. But I'm sure he'll be back tonight, tomorrow the latest" She said caring and apparently supportive.

"You seem so sure about it... and you seem to know him more than I do..." Lady said intriguing and a bit jealous.

"It's not that, it's just- I understand him. We both lived in hell quite some time after all. Well, him more than I did. And he doesn't show it but he still has a lot of problems he hasn't solved. Trust me, life in hell is not easy, much less when you have Mundus as an enemy. He has many invisible marks in his heart, mind and soul..." Trish said remembering her first days in hell. It was a total disaster, a living hell until she met Vergil. Suddenly she began remembering things of her past, the times she spent with Vergil in the Underworld. It was as if all of a sudden all these forgotten memories invaded her head. How could she have forgotten them? Did she deliberately buried them down her mind after meeting Dante? She closed her eyes as she had these flashbacks. She took a deep breath almost reliving those moments.

"I know he must have suffered a lot all those years in hell, but..." Lady noticed a strange expression on Trish's face, a mix of pleasure and oddness. "...are you alright? You seem lost in thought" She said.

Trish opened her eyes slowly, shaking her head a bit. "Hmm?" She looked at Lady with a smile. "I'm alright..." She said simply; but the truth was she felt pretty strange. Why was she having these thoughts of Vergil now?

Lady frowned dubious. "Trish?" She said curious. "I remember when we met..."

"You and I?" Trish asked.

"Yeah. I remember you told me you had met Vergil before Dante. I..." Lady said as she squeezed her eyes tight for a moment. "... I'm not sure of asking this, maybe my memory is playing tricks on me, but did you..." She turned to look at Trish in the eyes. "...have something to do with him?" She rapidly turned her eyes from her.

"No, never..." Trish answered right away. "... I mean- he..." She seemed to be trying to remember. "...always- had a special interest in me and..."

Lady interrupted her. "I remember you said you and Vergil were close back then and that he had his ways to seduce you, that he felt attracted to you..."

Trish gulped. "Well yeah... but that was it. Just seduction... those desires were never fulfilled... if that's what you're asking" She said sighing.

Lady turned her look down. "I'm not sure that makes me feel better. It just proves me right. Vergil still wants you..." She said somewhat disappointed and sad as she turned her look back at Trish.

"I don't think so Lady. I don't know where you get that from, he's with you" Trish said simply, avoiding Lady's look. "He's been with you for years. I don't know why you're having these thoughts now"

"I don't know. I just have a hunch" Lady said emotionless. "Lately, the look on his face is different, his whole expression"

"But you said he told you he loves you. I don't think he'd lie about it. Much less considering he had never said it before" Trish said trying to cheer Lady up.

"I know" Lady said pensive. "You're right. I'm sorry. I was not accusing you or anything. I know you're with Dante and you would never cheat on him, just like he would never do it on you" Lady said with a nervous chuckle.

Trish gulped. Somehow she felt nervous.

"Forget what I said" Lady smiled. "Vergil should be on his way home. I don't know why I had these weird thoughts of you two" She even felt a little embarrassed. "I should probably head back home"

"Okay. Thanks for dinner" Trish said faking a smile. She walked Lady to the door. She felt a bit bad for lying to her, but she felt she just couldn't tell her that.

Lady was walking down the steps of the entrance. She hesitated and turned to look at Trish. "Don't hesitate to call me, whatever you need, anytime, okay?" She said with a smile.

Trish just nodded. "Thanks, goodnight" She faked a smile again and stood beside the door till Lady got on her bike and left. She then went in, closed the door and leant on it. She took a deep breath as she closed her eyes. "Dante, where are you? I need you back" She said as she opened her eyes and went back to the kitchen.

Meanwhile, David was showing Vergil his father's Devil Arms from inside the big chest in the training room. He had almost shown him all of them.

"Dad says I'm too young for this one" He pulled out Nevan.

Vergil stared at the guitar and frowned. What in the hell is that?"

"A guitar..." David said innocently.

Vergil twisted his lips and rolled his eyes. "Of course it is..."

Suddenly Nevan spoke up. "Darling, oh Vergil, you don't remember me anymore?"

Vergil stepped back surprised. "Nevan?"

Nevan chuckled slyly. "Mmm... I knew you still remembered me..."

Vergil raised an eyebrow and took Nevan from Dave's hands. "Yes. You are too young for this one" He put it back in the chest, but before he'd close it up Nevan continued talking.

"The other day I met your progeny, such a sweet boy... so delicious" Nevan said enticingly.

Vergil surprised then rapidly closed the chest, but he felt curious and opened it up again. "You have a good eye then" He suddenly spotted something in the chest near Nevan.

"And smell..." Nevan continued.

"Silence..." He left Nevan there and pulled out Beowulf. "This belongs to me"

David turned to look at Vergil. "I hadn't seen that" He didn't care much about it, but if he said it was his then it was. He just saw how the Devil Arm fused with Vergil and disappeared."Uncle Vergil?" David asked. "Why do adults lie so much to each other?"

Vergil just raised an eyebrow as he glimpsed at David. He finally closed the chest, folded his arms and closed his eyes. "Sometimes we do it just- to not hurt someone else's feelings" He said simply as he thought of Lady.

"But in the end, the truth always comes to light" David said simply. "And I think you'd end up hurting that person more"

Vergil kept pensive. "Maybe you're right. But sometimes, some things are better left unsaid"

"Does dad know you have a thing for mom?" David asked bluntly.

"What?" Vergil surprised. "Well I- suppose he does" He said careless.

"And aunt Lady?" David continued.

Vergil sighed. "I don't know" Without noticing Vergil was giving himself away. After some moments he realized and opened his eyes widely. "Promise me you won't tell anyone about all we have talked about today"

David rolled his eyes. "Adults keep telling me to lie! Then they say lying is bad and I shouldn't do it!"

"Keeping a secret is not lying" Vergil said.

"Yeah, you say that cause it's convenient for you, but it's all the same to me" David said cocky.

"Ugh... you sound just like your father" Vergil said annoyed.

"I'll keep the secret..." David said slyly. "...if- you answer me one more question" He added.

Vergil rolled his eyes. "What is it?"

"When you and dad separated when kids, did you guys meet in the meantime or just until that time before you went to hell? David asked curious.

Vergil seemed pensive for a moment, remembering. "We did meet a few times before that last encounter. That's when we both knew for sure that we had both survived that incident. Any more questions?" He said arrogantly.

"And why didn't you get back together if you finally found each other?" David wondered still why they hated each other so much. Why was there so much rivalry between them?

"With the years, we only grew up with the hatred of that moment. We were marked. It wouldn't vanish just because we found each other. It just made it worse" Vergil said serious. "Besides, our encounters were never good"

David was so anxious for his father's return. He wanted to know his side of the story as well. He wondered if they both felt the same way. He didn't want to have a similar relationship with his siblings. He just couldn't even think of fighting each other like them.

Vergil wanted to go back to the kitchen, it was probable that Lady had already left. "Let's go back upstairs" He told David.

"You think aunt Lady left already?" David asked.

"Most probably" Vergil said as he went upstairs, David just followed him. Before going into the kitchen, Vergil stopped at the Laundry Room and stood before the door. He could listen some noise but no voices.

"She left" Trish said out loud.

Vergil then opened the door a bit more relaxed. Trish was doing the dishes when Vergil approached to her from behind. "Thank you, Trish" He whispered to her ear.

Trish slightly shivered with his breath blowing her neck and ear. She dried her hands and turned towards Vergil. "Vergil, I don't want to keep lying to her. If it was me in her shoes I'd hate if she lied to me" She complained.

Vergil looked at Trish in the eyes and she avoided his look right away. He reached a hand to her face and turned it towards his. "Trish, I promise this will end soon. You won't have to lie anymore. Nero should be available tomorrow or the day after. I'll return home, okay?"

David remembered Dante told him something similar a day before he left; those words sounded so much like his father's. He was almost sure that was a promise he wouldn't keep, just like his father did to him, leaving a day after the promise of staying. Could this mean Vergil would leave too? He wondered. "You should better not make a promise you can't keep. This won't be over yet" He said simply.

Vergil and Trish turned to look at him.

David simply continued his way to his room. "I'm gonna take a shower and I'll be in my room if you need me" He said emotionless.

Trish noticed his clothes were stained in blood. "Were you guys training before?" She asked Vergil. "His clothes are all covered up in blood!"

"Yes. He's fine, don't worry" Vergil said shyly as he let go of her face and turned away from her, trying to avoid her stare now.

"Why is there blood on his clothes and not yours?" Trish complained with her hands at her hips expecting Vergil to turn to look at her in the eyes.

"We were training woman, he got caught by a few scythes but is not a problem for him, relax" Vergil said calmed.

"Scythes? You had my son training with real demons! How do you want me to relax, what is the matter with you! Look at me when I'm talking to you!" Trish couldn't stop yelling.

Vergil frowned annoyed. He folded his arms then turned to look at Trish. "Did you see him having problems to speak or walk? He's perfectly fine. The kid's a demon! You know something like that won't harm him at all" He replied. "He might have gotten scared with all the blood but he Devil Triggered and killed them all, he even attacked me!"

"You deserved it" Trish said twisting her lips. She knew Vergil was right but she didn't want David to have that kind of training without Dante.

"Fine, I did. It was my mistake, I clicked the wrong button, alright? But he did it just fine" Vergil said serious as he closed his eyes, folded his arms and turned away from Trish again.

"It's been a rough day today. I- think I'll go back to sleep" Trish said simply as she headed upstairs.

"Alright..." Vergil said as he followed her upstairs turning all lights off on his way.

"Why do you follow me?" Trish asked as she suddenly stopped walking at the middle of the hall to look at him.

"I'm not leaving you alone Trish, much less after what happened today. You could still be in danger" Vergil said serious.

Trish took a deep breath. "I suppose you're right"

"Of course I'm right" Vergil said as they continued walking till Dante and Trish's room.

Just as Vergil walked in to the room with Trish and shut the door, David went out of the bathroom at the end of the hall. He couldn't help to notice that, and now more than ever he felt scared of what could happen, now that he knew his uncle Vergil did have a thing for his mom. He had just taken a fast shower and went back to his room. He felt nervous, anxious. He wanted his father back; the uncertainty was killing him, and he hated this feeling. He knew he'd have a lot of troubles to sleep and to top it off he had school the next day. He put on his pajamas and got in bed. But he was really exhausted that as soon as he laid his head on the pillow, he fell asleep as a rock.

Meanwhile, Trish went to the bathroom, she took a few minutes then she simply got out and went straight to bed. "Goodnight Vergil" She said as she just got under the covers and tried to sleep.

"Goodnight Trish" He said as he kept staring at her. "May I use your bathroom?" He asked.

"Help yourself" Trish said simply. She didn't know why she had this strange feeling with Vergil now. Her mind was keeping her uptight, she couldn't stop thinking of the past and how things happened. Had it been real or just a fake memory? She took a deep breath and tried to sleep. She wished she could see Dante again, at least in her dreams. It had been so long since she last saw him that it felt so strange not to have him around. She wished he was there to ease her thoughts, to clear her doubts with his touch, with his kisses, just a look of his eyes would suffice. She felt so weird with Vergil around now. Was he really trying to take Dante's place? She suddenly thought of Lady. She felt this was so wrong, Vergil should be at his home with Lady not with her, alone in the room.

Vergil went out of the bathroom and took off his coat. He hung it on a hook over the closet door and sat down on the sofa beside the bed.

Trish turned on her side, but it was a bit uncomfortable, so she simply laid on her back. She felt nervous with Vergil's look fixed on her. "Do you have to stare at me the whole time?"

"If it bothers you, I'll just close my eyes" Vergil said simply as he closed his eyes. He wouldn't sleep anyway. He was there to protect her. The least he wanted was to make her feel uncomfortable.

After an hour or so of trying to fall asleep, Trish suddenly had an idea. She turned to look at Vergil, surprisingly he seemed asleep. "Vergil?" She whispered, but she got no response, not a sound. She stealthily got out of bed, she walked tiptoe across the room and went out. She went downstairs trying not to make a single noise. She didn't even turn on a single light. She slowly opened the main door and went outside, leaving the door a little open to not make noise. She went down the few stairs of the entrance with no shoes and walked the streets till she reached the park. The jet was still there for a reason. She never thought of it before, but being an artifact from hell it should hold demonic power and it could surely serve her as a passageway to hell. She was so confused and needed to see Dante; she wanted to stop thinking of Vergil. She needed to forget to remember. She thought his absence was slowly drawing him away from her, forcing her in her loneliness to scrape out even her deepest and buried memories that had long passed into oblivion, looking for some comfort. But more than comfort, these recollections were tearing her mind to pieces.

She went deep into the woods behind the park till she found the jet again. The power it holds should be incredible for even after setting on fire, it was still intact. She slowly approached to it.

Suddenly Vergil woke up in a haze. He hadn't realized he had fallen asleep. "Trish?" She called out her name as his eyes couldn't find her in the room. He went to look in the bathroom, but she wasn't there. He hated this feeling of uncertainty when losing someone; he even had flashbacks of his mother when he found her lifeless. He paralyzed for a moment, he felt scared; but he reacted and hurried downstairs and the first thing he noticed was the door opened. He went outside looking for her, following her scent. He searched for her desperately and somehow guessed where she could be.

Trish touched the jet. She could perceive its demonic power now and it began to react with hers. A small portal created inside the jet, she just needed to jump in. She slowly hovered beside the jet, hoping to simply jump into the portal. She smiled as if the thought of joining Dante in the Underworld made her happy.

But suddenly Vergil yelled as he realized her intentions. "Trish, no!" He moved faster than light and teleported, appearing just behind her. He wrapped an arm around her neck and pulled her away from the jet. Trish tried to break free from his grasp. She longed to cross to the Underworld to meet Dante, but Vergil held her real tight. He landed on the ground and still kept his arm around her neck, keeping her restrained. "Are you out of your mind!" He said gritting his teeth. "What were you thinking!" He held her against him and reached his other hand to her round stomach.

"Let me go!" Trish yelled.

"You're not going anywhere, much less to hell!" Vergil yelled. "You were planning to leave and abandon David too, just like Dante did? What do you think he would feel after not finding you either, huh? Did you think of that?"

Trish suddenly stopped moving. Tears rolled down her pale cheeks.

"That's what I thought. It is such your desire to see Dante, you're beginning to act like him, so impulsively!" Vergil said upset, but at least he had made Trish see reason. He felt she started shaking, she was crying. He turned her over and embraced her to his chest. He rubbed her back to comfort her then noticed the portal was still opened and demons were trying to cross.

"I'm sorry Vergil, I..." Trish said sobbing.

"Well you should be, you have left the portal opened" Vergil said serious as he moved Trish behind him. "Stand back" He braced himself and cracked his fingers as he awaited for the demons.

Trish drew back from that area, but she kept on Vergil's sight. Suddenly Vergil summoned Beowulf and a pair of gauntlets and greaves appeared in his hands and over his boots increasing his power. He had many years he didn't use these in battle, but it was the perfect time to try them again. A horde of demons burst out of the portal and Vergil received them with a series of multiple flash punches and kicks. He had forgotten how useful and powerful this Devil Arm is. But he surely enjoyed killing all these demons. But he also noticed the demons didn't cease to appear. He needed to destroy that portal. So he reached his hand to his hip to get Yamato and when he didn't feel it he remembered Nero still had it. He couldn't destroy the portal any other way. "Trish!" He yelled. "I need you to either lower or hide your power, you're attracting the demons!" He could stay there all night to fight, but he needed to take Trish back home.

Trish hid her powers suddenly. The demons stopped appearing but the portal was still opened. Vergil eliminated the rest of demons and approached to Trish.

"Have you any idea of how to close it?" Vergil asked.

"Well, when I created portals before, I simply crossed and they'd vanish" Trish said simply.

"You're not crossing anywhere" Vergil said. He thought of something stupid but it could work. He grabbed a stone and cast it into the portal. It instantly vanished. "Problem solved, at least for now" He noticed she wasn't wearing any shoes, so without saying a single word, he carried her in his arms all the way back to the shop.

Trish didn't say anything either and just wrapped her arms around his neck. They got home and Vergil laid her down on the sofa. All the lights were still off but they could see each other just fine. Vergil locked the main doors then approached to Trish.

"C'mon, it's late. You need to rest" Vergil said serious but still his voice sounded somewhat caring.

Trish just nodded and stood up. She headed upstairs and Vergil simply followed her once more. But this time, he noticed something different in her. He could feel different as if there was something bothering her. They entered the room once again and Vergil shut the door behind him. He sat down on the sofa; he was mentally exhausted, for once he did feel like sleeping. He noticed Trish went straight to the bathroom and he heard water running. A few moments later, Trish was getting on the bed. Vergil looked at her curious.

"I just rinsed my feet, they were dirty" Trish said simply. She got under the covers and tried to sleep. But after minutes of rolling from one side to another without getting a wink, Trish finally spoke up. "Vergil?"

"Tell me what is bothering you" Vergil replied.

"It's just..." Trish hesitated. She took a deep breath then dared to ask. "... I've remembered, well I had these flashbacks, but I- I'm not sure they are real or perhaps my memory is playing tricks on me"

"Flashbacks? Perhaps I could help" Vergil said.

"I can still remember your scent..." Trish said slowly.

"Is it so bad it disturbs your sleep?" Vergil wondered.

"No. What bothers me is the fact I forgot everything" Trish said somewhat uptight. "Vergil, what happened between us?"

"You really can't remember..." Vergil stood up and sat next to Trish on the bed.

"Earlier, when Lady came over she asked me if you and I were involved, in the past of course" Trish said intriguing.

"What? Why would she ask you that?" Vergil wondered.

"When Lady and I met, I don't know why I mentioned her that I had met you before I met Dante. And I told her you were as seductive as Dante in your own way. I think I told her you and I were- close" Trish said serious.

"And why would you say that if you forgot everything about us?" Vergil asked curious.

"I didn't forget everything" Trish replied right away. "I just- hadn't thought about it in years that now everything is sort of- blur?" She said confused.

"And what did she say?" Vergil asked serious. He hated the thought of Lady unsure of his love for her.

"I told her that there never was anything between us. She apologized for even doubting us and she left afterwards" Trish said simply. She noticed him troubled. "It seems it bothers you that she doubts about you..." She said intriguing.

"You still haven't told me why your memories disturb you" Vergil said to avoid her questions. But it was more Trish's statements than Lady's doubts what bothered him. "What have you remembered?"

"When she asked me that, somehow these memories filled my head. Memories of you, of your hands, your soft lips..." She said enticingly.

Vergil grinned. "And you doubt it was real?" He wondered.

"I could even remember your scent, what you made me feel every time you touched me..." Trish said gasping.

Vergil moved closer to her. He caressed her bare legs under the covers till her inner thighs very slowly. Then he simply rested his hand over the bed just between her legs. It was so close to her pussy that he could even feel it throb.

Trish's chest began to swell with her deep breathing. "Vergil..." She gasped.

Vergil reached her lips to her neck, kissing her softly. Then he began tracing kisses down her neck and chest as he laid her down on the bed. He could feel how Trish's heart speeded up and her breathing was just uneven.

Trish closed her eyes nervous. Something about Vergil had awoken her desires, but she didn't want to give in. She tried to resist. She just gulped, it was so hard for her to breathe normally, she couldn't control it. She was beginning to arouse and moan and somehow her pussy throbbed even more.

Vergil moved his hand even closer to her pussy, such, that it was his wrist now what felt it throbbing. He wanted to touch her so badly, to feel it with his fingers. He kept kissing her chest just above her creamy, swollen breasts. He caressed a side of her face with his other hand then gripped her by the chin reaching his lips close to hers. And just before their lips could actually touch, Trish moved he face to a side, resulting with Vergil kissing her cheek.

"And you would always do that every time I'd try to kiss your lips" He said with a devilish grin. It was ironic; he was sure now that back then, she never gave in to him because of that Seed of Love and now it was because of Dante. "Still..." He grabbed her by the cheek and looked into her eyes. "... you never let anyone else touch you, you were only mine..."

Trish looked into his eyes for moments; there was something in his eyes that made her feel different, almost wanting to give in. She remembered now all those moments together in hell, all their secret encounters. She even started wondering why she never gave in to him, why she rejected him all the time if he made her feel like this? What would have happened if only she would've given in to Vergil instead of Dante? Would he have never succumbed to Mundus to become Nelo Angelo and joined forces with her to destroy Mundus instead? Would she have met Dante either way? All these thoughts were overwhelming her now. She just closed her eyes unable to look at him.

"All those times we spent together, despite all the darkness and evil surrounding us you made me feel like in heaven" Vergil said lovingly.

Trish opened her eyes and looked at him again. She kept listening to him talk and saw how his loving face contorted in anger after mentioning Mundus and Dante's names.

"Although, it was too good to be true. It couldn't last for long. All that joy was once again taken from me by Mundus..." He said full of hatred as he just turned his look to the front. "...and he just threw you into Dante's arms and you had to fall for his charms" His expression turned serious now. "Somehow, he accomplished something I never could..." He said serious and pensive. He couldn't stop thinking about that Seed of Love. How could Dante break the spell? What was the difference between them? He turned to look at Trish. He grabbed her by the chin and lifted her face forcing her to look at him. He gazed at her so penetratingly then he caressed her face. Trish closed her eyes and sighed, squeezing them. "I know you want me Trish, as bad as I want you. I can feel it, I can almost smell your desire..." He whispered close to her lips.

"Vergil..." Trish opened her eyes and looked at him almost in tears. "...I'm sorry... but I..." She moved away from him and sat up.

"But you can't, I know..." Vergil said coldly. He sat straight as well and turned away from her. "...you don't have to say it and keep breaking the remains of my heart. Somehow..." He said emotionless. "... I knew you would leave me. It was then I had nothing left to lose..."

"Is that why you finally surrendered to Mundus?" Trish asked scared. She was beginning to feel guilty.

"Yes. But there's no need to feel guilty. It was my choice" Vergil said serious.

"Oh Vergil..." Trish lamented herself. She couldn't look at him in the eyes anymore. She just lowered her stare and kept silent.

Vergil noticed Trish's concern. He moved closer to her and wrapped an arm around her shoulders bringing her closer to his chest. "There's no need to feel uptight Trish. Your foolish husband liberated me from Mundus anyway" He tried to comfort her.

"But you were trapped in hell either way, that must have been worse" Trish said as she just held him tight not wanting to look at him. She felt how Vergil's chest filled with air as he took a deep breath.

"Well yes, but... I was myself again" Vergil said serious.

"And you spent years alone in hell and without your sword, simply empty handed..." Trish said serious and worried. "...and it was all my fault"

"No need to specify all my downsides, besides that was many years ago Trish and I didn't need my sword to slay my enemies. And it wasn't your fault, erase that from your head" He lifted her face by her chin forcing her to look at him. "It was you who always brought light into my life in moments of darkness"

Trish looked into his eyes and his words tore her heart to pieces for not loving him back. Her eyes watered and her tears simply rolled down her cheeks. He could be so caring and loving at times. Now she understood why it scared Lady.

Vergil smiled with such tenderness as he wiped off her tears with his fingers. "It's alright. Devils never cry..."

Those words paralyzed Trish.

"... I understood my place the last time we met in hell. Still it made me happy to have found you and besides, thanks to you I could ascertain the existence of my son... no one else could have restored Yamato..." Vergil felt so comfortable with Trish that he accidentally revealed more than he should.

Trish frowned for a second. "Wait a minute. Are you- saying Nero- is your son?" She asked surprised.

"But you already knew that, didn't you?" Vergil replied. He couldn't hide it anymore, not to Trish. Besides he wanted her to forget about his suffering in hell, about Nelo Angelo, all his past, that no matter how much he tried, it would never change. It marked him since his childhood and somehow misery and misfortune surged up within him ever since.

Trish kept pensive. "Well...yes..." She kept her stare down thinking. "...but are you sure? Do the math, with Nero's age, how old were you when- he was- conceived?" She asked dubious now.

"Around 17-18" He said simply. Vergil looked at Trish and how she opened her eyes widely for a moment saying there you go can't be your son. "Nero lied about his age" He replied simply to clear Trish's doubts.

"How do you know?" Trish wondered.

"Well I was like you at first, that's why I didn't say anything and made up that lie to please your minds" Vergil said. "But with time I came to realize it had to be him" Vergil turned serious and took a deep breath. "Remember when I told you I had read Kyrie's father's diary?"

"Yes. And you didn't want to tell me because you said you promised not to" Trish said slowly.

"Well yes. But that diary proved he's my son. It had pictures of his mother..." Vergil's expression changed dramatically. "... I can tell you that"

Trish surprised. Then it had to be real. She felt good for Nero. She thought he'd be happy to have the chance to have a real father by his side in his life. Unlike Vergil, Trish's face sparkled with joy. "That's wonderful Vergil, when are you gonna tell him?" She asked excited.

"Never" He said cold. "Don't get too excited about it"

"What? But why?" Trish complained.

"Because... it's been years since we met and he was pleased to be a Sparda son" Vergil said serious.

"Because that's what he was told" Trish replied.

"Dante asked Nero what would he think if I was his father and he said "no way, that would never happen" His words. So it's not happening" Vergil said serious.

"But he had no idea it could happen. Why would he think you could be his father if he has been told something else?" Trish said. "I think you should tell him"

Vergil took a deep breath. "I'll think about it"

"Does Lady know?" Trish wondered.

"Nobody knows, only you now" Vergil said simply as he leant on the bedhead. "And I'm sure Dante knows, he's been trying to uncover me lately"

"Yeah, we suspected it" Trish said.

"Well, now you know it's true" Vergil said.

"Thanks for trusting in me" Trish said sweetly as she kissed his cheek and turned and laid on her side to sleep. She put a pillow on a side of her belly to be a bit more comfortable. "Goodnight Vergil"

Vergil was still perplexed. He felt Trish's kiss so warming and loving that he kept motionless for moments. He turned to look at her lovingly. He wished he could stay with her forever. If only Dante never existed. But his fate was another. He turned towards Trish and laid down beside her. He clung his body to hers, wanting to feel her warmth. "May I sleep with you tonight?" He whispered to her ear.

As soon as she felt him getting closer, her eyes opened widely. It didn't bother her to have him this close, but she thought of Dante and how pissed he'd be if he knew. She hesitated, but she didn't want to be rude to him, after all he's done for them.

"Just for one night Trish, is all I ask. I want to know what if feels like to be Dante, at least in a simple way, like this..." He said as he embraced her. "... I want to feel you close to me at least once"

Trish slightly turned her face to look at him. She looked into his eyes and saw a different sparkle in them. She couldn't deny him his wish. She just nodded. "Okay" She said as she felt every muscle of his body clung to hers. She tried to relax to sleep, but she felt a little nervous; she couldn't stop thinking of Dante. "What if David comes in in the morning?" She asked worried.

"I'll make sure that doesn't happen and if it does, I'll explain. I've talked to him a lot recently, he might understand" Vergil said calmly, trying to calm Trish as well. "Don't worry" He said softly as he caressed a side of her face. Vergil could feel her heart beating fast. He reached his hand to her chest. "Relax..." He whispered softly. "... I won't do a thing, I just want to be with you"

Trish felt even more nervous with him so near. She could feel his crotch getting harder and it was pressing on her ass. And as much as she loved the feeling, it wasn't Dante. She was starting to feel guilty and nothing had really happened; but she now imagined Dante coming into the room any second. He'd want to kill Vergil if he found them like this.

"Do I make you feel uncomfortable?" Vergil asked. It was impossible not to notice Trish's anxiety.

"No, no. It's just..." Trish replied right away. "...the babies move a lot at night"

"Oh, I see..." Vergil moved the hand from her hips to her round stomach. He felt the babies move with his touch. He couldn't help to smile. He rubbed her belly in a circular motion. "...you like that?" He whispered.

"Yeah, thanks..." Trish moaned softly.

Vergil also loved how it felt. The creation of life inside a woman's womb. Trish noticed he enjoyed it too.

So this is how it could have been if only you were mine? This is the life we could have had? Vergil lamented all his past decisions, but things couldn't be changed. He felt sorry now for choosing the wrong path all his life.

"Vergil?" Trish called out his name softly. "Can I ask you something?"

"Sure" Vergil replied simply.

"Were you ever like this with Nero's mother?" Trish asked curious.

Like this you mean in bed, holding her, embracing her round stomach? Happy? No, never. I really wasn't even sure she was pregnant when I left. It was my intention but I had other things in mind and..." Vergil said honestly.

"Then you literally just found someone to reproduce to have a descendant in case you died in your crazy attempts to gain more power or your father's power..." Trish said guessing.

"I couldn't have said it better" Vergil said careless. "That's another reason I don't want Nero to know. He'd ask about his mother and..." He kept pensive. "... I have nothing to say. I barely knew the woman. She was a good woman but..." He strangely chuckled remembering how he met her and why she fell in love with him.

Trish turned to look at him and slightly sat up, resting herself on her elbows. "You smiled. She must have had something special you did like about her" She said surprised.

"Well of course she did. Don't think I just chose a woman randomly. Who do you think I am?" Vergil said.

"So you really didn't know she was pregnant when you left?" Trish wondered.

"Like I said. It was my intention, but no I didn't know. I hoped she was by the time I left" Vergil said simply.

"And let me guess. You left without saying a single word" Trish said slyly.

"Of course. It would hurt her less" Vergil said.

"According to you, that is" Trish said raising an eyebrow and twisting her lips.

"Well yes, but honestly I..." Vergil turned serious. "... I wish I had done things differently. Perhaps she'd still be alive"

"You mean she's dead?" Trish said shocked.

"Yes. And the way she died was heinous" Vergil said with a sad expression on his face.

"Was she murdered by demons too?" Trish wondered and dared to ask.

"No. But sometimes humans can be worse than demons" Vergil replied serious.

Trish kept pensive for a moment. "I think I know where this is going. You found out about all this in that diary, didn't you?" She asked then continued. "Then that means it was Kyrie's father the one responsible for..." She kept pensive for moments. "...Kyrie knows about this?"

"Indeed, you are too clever Trish" Vergil interrupted her. "And yes she knows what his father did but either she pretended not to know I'm his father or she simply is too innocent" He kept quiet for moments then continued. "Now, I'd rather sleep by your side than remembering those atrocities"

"Of course, I'm sorry" Trish caressed Vergil's cheek as she looked into his eyes lovingly and smiled. She took Vergil's hand and pulled him with her as she turned on her side to sleep. She now forced Vergil to embrace her.

Vergil surprised but smiled pleased. And it felt better if it was her who wanted it now. Somehow they both relaxed and felt comfortable. They fell asleep shortly. Vergil woke up the next morning. He opened his eyes and his first sight was Trish. It was like a dream come true. He couldn't help to smile and it pleased him more that Trish had a smile on her face. He caressed her face softly.

"Vergil?" Trish said dozy.

Vergil couldn't help to smile even more. For once she hadn't called him Dante. Somehow, that gave him a little hope. "Yes love?" He replied lovingly.

Trish woke up surprised. "Did you just call me love?"

"Sorry..." Vergil smiled in a way that Trish strangely loved. "...my bad"

That made her think of Dante, but something in Vergil was different. "You seem very happy today" Trish said suspicious.

"I am. Sorry, I wasn't aware it was a crime" Vergil said jokey.

Trish frowned and smiled. "It's not"

"You seem happy as well" Vergil retorted.

"I feel good, yeah. Thanks. Except for the fact that I spent the night with my best friend's boyfriend almost husband" Trish said jokey, but she did feel a little guilty, not only for Lady but for Dante too.

"Don't worry Trish. I'll take David to school and I'll go back home" Vergil said smiling.

"Please! Lady must have been crying all night for your absence while we... ugh I don't even want to think about it" Trish said covering her face with her hands.

"Don't overwhelm yourself Trish" He approached to her and kissed her forehead. "I'll see you soon" He stood up, walked towards the door and opened it. Then before he left, he turned and looked at her. "Thank you for last night" He said then closed the door behind him. He gave a few steps in the corridor when David walked out of his room. They met in the hallway before the stairs. "Good morning, David" Vergil said with a smile.

David turned to look at him and surprised with his expression. He seemed changed. That big smile just didn't seem to belong to him. He guessed he was coming from his parents room. "Good- morning- uncle Vergil. You- had a good night- by the look on your face" He said hesitantly.

"I did, yes" Vergil said simply.

"Anything- in particular happened?" Dave dared to ask.

"Someone is a bit inquisitive this morning" Vergil said as they went downstairs.

"Inqui- what?" Dave asked confused.

"Curious" Vergil replied as he put on his coat and approached to the main doors. He unlocked and opened the door. "You don't mind walking today, do you?"

David followed him. "Nope, that's fine" He was about to close the door when he stopped and returned inside. "Just a minute!" He shouted to Vergil.

Vergil waited for him outside.

"Bye mom!" David yelled before going outside again. He had gone to the kitchen to grab something to eat.

"Bye sweetie! Have a nice day!" Trish yelled from the stairs as she was just coming down.

David hurried outside and by the time he reached the door, Trish was there already. "Wow, that was fast mom" He gave her a kiss and a hug before leaving.

Trish stood beside the door and waved them goodbye.

Vergil turned and smiled. He took David's hand and waved Trish goodbye.

David saw both his mom and Vergil's faces and frowned curious. He gave a bite to the apple he took and asked. "What happened last night between you two?"

"Nothing" Vergil said simply.

"And you expect me to believe that?" David replied while he kept biting on his apple. "That face can't be for nothing. My dad wakes up with that face everyday, but that's for a reason and he's my dad, he can do that to my mom" He said bluntly.

Vergil chuckled and surprised at Dave's candor. "When I say nothing, I mean it. We just talked and slept together. We didn't have sex if that's what you're implying" He said openly. "Unlike your father, I don't need to have sex with your mother to be happy" He said honestly.

David kept pensive. "Touché" He replied dubious.

Vergil turned to look at him. "I doubt you know what that means, but yes, I could say is well used"

"I've heard that from dad sometimes, not sure what it means" David said. They arrived to the school. "Are you going back home?" He asked.

"Yes. Why do you ask?" Vergil said simply.

"No reason. Guess I'll see you soon. It was nice having you home... at times, that is" David chuckled nervously.

Vergil chuckled. "I know"

"Will uncle Nero come over later today?" David wondered.

"Yes. He should go this afternoon" Vergil said simply.

"Alright, bye-bye!" He waved goodbye as he entered the school.

Vergil stood there, staring at David until he vanished at the distance. He closed his eyes and took in the delicious scent of the morning breeze. He felt great. He even felt like going to a bakery. He bought a variety of doughnuts and two hot chocolates. He went straight home right after, hoping to find Lady.

He arrived home shortly after; the house was locked so he hoped she was still there. It was still early. When he entered the house it was in a complete silence. He found it odd, but perhaps Lady was in the shower or something. He went to the kitchen and left the chocolates and doughnuts over a table to go find her. He approached to the stairs and shouted. "Mary? Are you home?" He didn't get a reply but still he headed upstairs. "Mary?" He kept shouting.

Lady was in the shower, she thought she heard something; but the sound of the water running kind of tricked her ears. Vergil heard the water running and thought he needed a shower too. So, he didn't hesitate and entered to the bathroom, surprising Lady. She did hear the door and for a moment she thought someone had snuck in the house; for some strange reason, she didn't think it could be Vergil. He seemed to be moving stealthily. She grabbed a razor to attack the intruder. She stepped back in the shower till her back touched the glazed tile. Vergil was undressing so he took a little to enter the shower, leaving Lady at the edge of uncertainty. She held the razor with both hands just in front of her chest.

Suddenly, Vergil slid the shower door and as soon as she saw it was Vergil, she dropped the razor and embraced him.

"Vergil..." She held him so tight that even Vergil surprised. She couldn't help to cry.

"Mary? What's wrong?" He asked as if he would have spent the night with her. "Why do you cry?" He asked while he separated her a bit from his chest to look into her special eyes. "Were you going to attack me? With a razor?" He said playfully. "You silly" He mocked and embraced her to his chest. "I'm not going anywhere, okay?"

Lady just nodded and kept holding him tight not wanting to let go. She wanted to know where had he spent the night, but she was afraid to ask. She was happy to have him back, but then again, for how long would it last?

Meanwhile at the school, David was in recess time. He was hanging out with his friend Alice and since David didn't bring any lunch today, she was sharing hers with him. But suddenly a group of older guys approached to them.

"Hey you!" The leader of the gang yelled to David.

David had seen these guys before and he didn't want to get in troubles, so he rather ignore them.

"Hey! I'm talking to you! You white-haired freak!" The guy continued yelling at David.

"What did you call me?" David said as he began to piss off. He was trying hard to control but these guys were really reaching his limit.

"Freak!" The guy said careless.

David chuckled. "That was close, but no. I'm no freak" He said still calmed.

"What are you, kid? What did you to to win every contest yesterday?" The guy asked intrigued. "You cheated, tell me what's your secret. No one had ever beat me in anything!"

"There's always a first time" David said simply.

"Exactly. And it's your turn to be beaten! I'll show you what you get for messing with me" The guy said pissed and ready to beat David up.

David stood up to leave Alice out of this. He approached to the guy and almost put his face for him to punch him.

The guy directed a punch towards David, but he easily evaded it. He tried to hit him more times but to no avail. "You think you're too cocky, huh?" He thought of a way to retrain him. "Guys!" He made a sign to a couple of guys from his gang and they immediately grasped David by his arms, each of them from one side, restraining his movement.

David was suspended in the air due to the guys' size. He ended up at the perfect level for the other guy to hit him. "Now, take this!" He punched David in the stomach and left him breathless.

"David!" Alice yelled scared for David. "Leave him alone!"

The guy glimpsed at her and chuckled. "I hope your girlfriend enjoys the show"

David chuckled with his head down. "You should be ashamed of yourself. Having to use two guys to restrain me so you can hit me. What a coward"

"Shut up!" The guy pissed and punched Dave's face.

David received the punch openly. His nose bled a little but he just grinned devilishly as the blood dripped and he could even savor it.

The guy pissed off even more. "You think it's funny?" He kept punching his face.

"David!" Alice yelled worried.

"It's- okay..." David panted trying to calm Alice. He remembered his mother's words that he shouldn't fight humans. But what was he supposed to do in a situation like this? Should he hold back and let them attack him? Or should he fight back? He tensed his abdominal muscles as he noticed the guy's fist coming straight at him again. He punched his stomach several times until the amulet stuck out from under the neck of his shirt.

"No! Alice kept screaming. "Stop!"

"Stay out of this!" David yelled to her. His voice seemed fine despite the numerous hits he had just received.

The guy whistled to another guy who rapidly took Alice and covered her mouth. They were in a desolated part of the school in the backyard, but they feared someone could listen and they could get in troubles.

"Don't touch her! Leave her out of this!" David yelled upset.

"Oh, how sweet" The guy mocked. "The kid's trying to play the hero"

David infuriated but with the amulet around his neck, his powers kept dormant, under control.

Alice bit the hand from the guy who had her held and he instantly screamed and instinctively punched her in the face.

"Alice!" David yelled enraged. "That's enough" He said serious as his eyes turned to the same red from the amulet, that was now glowing, calling the guy's attention.

The guy stepped back confused. "What are you?" He asked slowly and without much thought he pulled from Dave's amulet and ripped it off his neck.

"No!" David yelled afraid of losing his amulet. In one hand to simply lose it scared him and in the other hand, his powers would awake. "Give it back!" He tried to control. He felt his heart beating so strongly. His eyes recovered their normal blue color as his human side felt scared.

The guy noticed this and found it odd. "What is this for? Why is it so important to you?" He wondered. "You were wearing this yesterday, is this why you won?"

"No" David said under his breath. "There's demonic blood in me and that amulet helps me keep my powers dormant. But now that you've taken it from me, I recommend you run away if you want to stay alive" He said serious and with no hesitation. It was his demon now speaking.

"Hmph... and you expect me to believe that?" The guy said skeptical.

"Well... you can prove me wrong if you want" Dave said careless.

The two guys restraining him were really struggling to keep their hold on him now. And they were beginning to get scared.

"David..." Alice muttered surprised.

"Give it back" David said serious as his eyes were beginning to switch colors again. "I won't ask a third time..." He was trying hard to control the demon within him, but still he released a small amount of lightning through every limb; it was released as a wave of power that sent them all flying and crashing onto the ground.

David landed on the ground slowly and he approached to the guy who took his amulet. He was still gripping it tightly, but the three guys were unconscious. David took his amulet back, but the chain was broken. He still put it around his neck and as if it had life of its own, both ends of the chain attached together. David surprised, but at least he could wear it back. He was more convinced now that this amulet held more power than he thought. And it seemed it filled with his blood, his enemies blood and his emotions. He kept staring at the glowing gem for moments, pensive, until he heard noise behind him. He turned and saw Alice almost hidden. She seemed nervous and scared while the other guy conscious seemed even more frightened and he simply ran away like a lunatic as he saw David approaching.

"Alice..." David whispered as he slowly approached to her. "...it's okay, it's just me. Please don't be afraid of me, I would never harm you"

Alice didn't move an inch, until David stood before her offering his hand to help her up. "You're a demon?" She asked shakily.

David moved his eyes from one side to another and scratched the back of his head nervous. "Umm... well I'm part human too" He chuckled nervously.

Alice stood up and embraced him. "I knew you were different" She whispered with a smile although David couldn't see that.

David's eyes were closed and he surprised when he felt her embrace him. His eyes opened amazed. His heart strangely started beating faster and stronger. He didn't know what to do. He hesitantly moved his arms to hug her too. But before he did, Alice moved and gave him a kiss on a cheek, just next to his lips. David was even more shocked, but he sighed and his eyes flickered. He couldn't help to smile. Then he looked at her and his smile rapidly vanished as he noticed the bruises on her arms and face. "Are you okay? I'm sorry, this was all my fault" He carefully reached a hand to her face and slightly touched her. "Does it hurt?"

Alice smiled. "Just a little. But don't worry, I'm okay"

Suddenly, screams were heard from behind.

"What just happened here!" The head mistress said shocked after seeing three students unconscious on the ground. "David!" She yelled as she hurried and crouched beside one of them to feel his pulse. "What happened!" She yelled again as she turned to David and noticed Alice's face and arms were bruised.

David flustered. "I- I- didn't do anything..."

"This is very serious, young man" The woman said concerned.

Suddenly, Dave's and Alice's teacher approached to the scene. "Oh my God, what happened?" She ran towards Alice and crouched at her level. "Are you alright? Who did this to you?"

"David, you better start talking" The head mistress straightened up and turned towards him.

"It wasn't his fault. It was the guy who ran away and his friends who did this" Alice spoke up. "We were just having lunch peacefully when those guys came along bothering David. They started hitting him and I..."

"Okay, that's enough" The woman said upset. "You two are going to detention. I'm gonna need to talk to both of your parents and David, if something happens to those kids, you'll be the only one responsible" The woman said seriously as she lifted Dave's face by his chin and looked into his eyes. "Miss Peterson, please call an ambulance, I doubt we can do something for these kids here" The woman said as she grabbed both David and Alice by their shoulders and led them to detention. She spoke to both in private to listen to each of their versions and they were almost the same except for David's last part that Alice just couldn't describe.

"David, I know what you are, your parents told me everything. And I agreed to accept you in this school because they told me you were a good boy and I know you are. But I also know you are too young to control your emotions and you could explode like you just did. That cannot happen" The woman spoke seriously.

David just turned his face down to the floor while he listened to all the woman had to say.

"If something happens to those kids, I will be obliged to expel you from this school. And I hope those kids' parents don't press charges on you or the school" She stood up. "You'll stay in detention with Alice till the end of the day and I'll speak to your parents before you go" She said serious as once more she led him to detention where Alice just sat by a desk waiting for David.

David joined her there. They still had two hours till dismissal.

Trish was preparing lunch for when David arrived and suddenly the phone rang at the Devil May Cry. She let it ring, but then remembered no one would answer so she went to get it. It could be a job and there had been none recently. "Devil May Cry..." She answered. "Yes. What? What happened?" She seemed upset and bothered. "Okay. I'll be there shortly" She called Nero and asked him to pick her up before going to the school to pick David up.

Nero arrived to the shop and searched for Trish. She didn't seem to be there in the office or the kitchen. "Trish? I'm here!" He yelled.

"I'm coming! I just needed to get properly dressed" Trish said annoyed.

"What's the matter? You seem agitated" Nero said concerned. "Are you okay?"

"I am. It's just... it seems there was an incident in the school and David was involved. And there are some kids unconscious and if something happens to them..." Trish said agitated.

"Oh, I see..." Nero said foolish. "...just relax, okay? We'll go there and find out what really happened, alright? I doubt David hurt them, I don't think he would attack other kids" He tried to calm her.

"Are you kidding? Last time he beat a group of kids, Dante praised him!" Trish complained then reached a hand to her belly. She started breathing deeply.

Nero panicked for a second and Trish's angst face was not helping. "Just- relax... breathe deeply..." He started breathing deeply too for some reason.

"And what do you think I'm doing! Let's just go!" Trish said upset as she grabbed her purse and went outside. Nero followed her and just closed the doors behind him. He even feared to ask if she was locking. She seemed infuriated. He hurried and opened the door of the van for her and helped her climb in. He got in too then started it. He drove slowly for Trish, still they arrived to the school in no time.

Nero accompanied Trish till the headmistress office and outside of the office they found David sitting next to a girl.

David turned towards the sound of the steps. "Mom..." He said ashamed. He knew she'd be pissed. "...I'm sorry..." He said looking down.

Trish looked at the girl and saw her bruised. "What happened?" She said serious with an angry face as she turned to look at David again.

Before David could reply, the head mistress noticed Trish's arrival and opened the door to her office. "Mrs. Trish..." She turned to look at Nero. "...and Mr. Dante?"

"Oh no, my husband is out of town. He's my neph..." Trish corrected herself. "...my- brother... in law"

"Oh. No wonder he looked younger. I was gonna ask, what are you having?" The woman joked with Nero. She turned to look at Trish again. "Well, I'll speak only to you then. But as soon as Mr. Dante comes back, please come together" She said serious.

"Oh, we will. Trust me" Trish said slyly as the woman took her hand and led her inside the office.

The woman explained Trish how things happened and that she knew it hadn't been Dave's fault; but the fact that he couldn't control his emotions might bring consequences. She told her they were waiting for the other kids' diagnosis to know how things would proceed. They hadn't called the other kids parents yet until they'd recover consciousness.

Trish couldn't help to feel scared. This was exactly what she feared could happen. She felt pretty bad for the other kids and she hoped they'd be fine. "I'm truly sorry. I don't know what to say..." Trish's voice broke down. She really hoped the kids would be okay. She feared that any of them couldn't make it. She didn't know the amount of power David could have released , but no human would survive a discharge of their powers.

"I'm sorry to worry you in your state. I will let you know how things result. But for the rest of the week, I'm gonna have to send David home to avoid gossip and speculations" The woman said serious.

With tears in her eyes and covering them with her hands, Trish simply nodded.

The woman held Trish's hand. "I'm sorry. Please don't worry, is not good for the baby" She said concerned.

Trish turned to look at the woman. Well it's a little too late for that, woman! "How can you tell me not to worry when my 5 year old son could have killed some kids!" She said almost yelling and agitated.

"They will be fine" The woman tried to calm her.

"You cannot know that for sure!" Trish just thought of all the troubles they could get into if this escalated to another level. She didn't need that right now. She needed Dante. Suddenly she felt pain in her stomach. She shut her eyes tightly and held her stomach. She started breathing deeply.

"Are you alright? Please calm down" The woman said nervous. "Do you want a cup of tea?" She asked.

"Thanks, that might help" Trish said simply.

The woman prepared Trish a tea. "I'm sorry I forced you to come so suddenly. I wasn't aware of your state. How long till the due date?" She handed Trish the cup of tea on a saucer.

"Now I feel it could be any time. Thanks" Trish took the cup and added a bit of honey the woman provided her.

The woman had a seat while Trish had the tea; meanwhile Nero talked to David outside.

"Hey little buddy..." Nero said as he crouched before David. "...what happened?" He lifted Dave's face with his hand.

"I didn't want to hurt them, but one of them tried to steal my amulet. I swear I didn't use much power..." David said worried. "Are the guys okay?"

Nero hesitated. "Umm... I- have no idea, but it'll be okay, don't worry" He tried to soothe him. He glanced at the girl who was facing down. Nero hesitated but he couldn't help to notice the bruises on her arms. He then slowly and carefully moved the hair from her face and noticed it was bruised as well. The girl flinched with Nero's touch. "It's alright, I won't hurt you. Did the guys do this to you?" He asked. The girl just nodded. Nero felt bad for her. "What's your name?"

"Alice..." The girl said shyly.

"That's a pretty name" Nero said sweetly with a smile. He wanted to help her. He was sure it hurt her still. "Have they given you something for the umm..." He said hesitantly. The girl just shook her head. He was surprised they hadn't attended her in the school yet. "... I might have something in the van. I'll be right back"

Nero hurried to the van then returned with an unguent for bumps and to calm the pain.

"May I?" Nero asked before touching the girl. He didn't want to get in troubles. The girl just nodded so Nero applied some of the unguent on her face and arms. "And... you're good to go"

"Thank you" Alice said shyly.

"No problem" Nero said with a smile and noticed the girl kept staring at his clawed hand. He was using the sling but still, at a short distance, it was noticeable.

"Are you part demon too?" She dared to ask.

Nero blushed nervous. "Umm... well... yeah..." He chuckled nervously. That could only mean she knew about David already.

"Everyone in the family is" David said simply.

"Really? Your mother as well?" Alice asked surprised.

"My mom is a full demon" David said proud.

"What! But she looks so pretty, she doesn't look like a demon" Alice said shocked.

"Do I look like a demon to you?" David said jokey.

"Mmm... no" Alice said dubious.

"Exactly! You don't even know how demons look like" David said jokey. "And you don't wanna know"

"Hmm?" Alice turned to look at David curious.

"Yeah, my dad looks really scary and so do I, don't I, uncle Nero?" David said.

"Yeah, that's right" Nero said simply.

"Oh, show me, show me!" Alice said excited.

"Umm... no... I don't think it's a good idea" Nero said as he straightened up.

Trish suddenly walked out of the office. "C'mon sweetie, we gotta go" She said to David as she took his hand and just before they'd go, Alice's parents arrived. And the first thing they noticed were Alice's bruises.

"Is he the one responsible for this?" Alice's mom said mad as she fixed her stare on David.

David looked at the woman scared. He didn't know what to say. He did feel responsible for what happened to her. "I- I..." He gulped.

"No!" Alice stood up and defended him. "He's the one who protected me"

Alice's mom rapidly took her hand and pulled her towards her. "Protect? You call this protect?" The woman said mad as she showed her bruises to everyone around.

"Three of the guys who attacked us are in the hospital" Alice said certain, pointing out that David did help her.

"In the hospital?" The woman said shocked. "Guys? How old are them?"

"Umm...13 - 14 at most. Fortunately, they just called from the hospital and told us they are out of danger" Trish said serious.

"Really?" David turned to look at her. "That's a relief"

Trish just nodded. "I hope your daughter gets well soon" Trish said as she started walking away pulling David with her.

Nero kept paralyzed for a moment. He crouched at Alice's level. "Get well soon" He smiled then stood up. "Nice to meet ya!" He said hastily as he caught up with Trish and David.

David turned and looked at Alice who also turned to see if he'd look her way. They waved goodbye at each other then David continued his way.

Both Alice's parents turned towards them shocked.

"He beat three 14 year old kids?" The woman was still shocked.

"What are they?" Her father asked.

"They're demons" Alice said simply and still smiling.

"What!" Both of them shouted perplexed.

"Demons?" Her mother's eyes opened widely. "But they look totally normal"

Well, that's because they're part human too. Except for his mom..." She made a pause.

The woman felt a tiny relief. "Oh, she's human...thank God..."

"...no, she's a full demon" Alice said as if she were proud about it.

"What!" Alice's mother said traumatized and fainted.

Nero dropped Trish and David off at the Devil May Cry, he was gonna leave but he decided to make them company for a while. It was still early in the afternoon so they had plenty of time. They had lunch and spent the rest of the afternoon watching movies, hoping to relax. Later at night, they ordered pizza; Trish was exhausted to be cooking something.

After dinner, they finished watching a movie and Nero was gonna go, but before leaving, he wanted to make sure they'd be alright alone. Carlo and Julio were still under their care so he didn't want to leave Kyrie alone.

Nero stood up from the sofa, David was beginning to doze off and Trish looked really tired. "Hey Trish?" He stood next to her beside the sofa. "Are you alright?"

"Yeah, thanks Nero. I'm just really tired and I feel I won't stand the whole week till the due date. But I'm fine, it's okay Nero. We'll be fine. I just wish Dante was here. I'd feel better with him next to me. It's been so long since we last saw him I feel weird like... I can't remember how he looks, I- feel like if he were never coming back..." She said in a low voice and couldn't help to shed tears.

"Trish..." Nero sat next to her and embraced her. "... I know it feels this has been eternal, but I do have faith in Dante, he is coming back. I miss him too and yeah it feels weird not to have him around but it's not been that long, almost 2 months. Now imagine how Dante felt when you left him without saying a word for what, like 6 months a year?"

Trish kept pensive. "Is that supposed to make me feel better? So now I'm the bad one?" Trish said with tears in her eyes.

Nero thought he just screwed up. "No, of course not. I'm not good with words. What I meant was that he's coming back. You will remember his face and his hands and his..." He cleared his throat. "...when he returns, which will be very soon" He stood up again and asked. "Do you want me to take David upstairs before I go?"

"Yes, please. He just fell asleep, didn't he?" Trish said as she had a bit of troubles to stand up. She turned off the TV and followed Nero upstairs.

"I can come back for you if you want. Let me just put him in bed" Nero said to Trish.

"Okay. I'll wait, thanks" Trish said as she held by the banister, waiting till Nero returned from upstairs. She really felt she couldn't even give a step. "Take him to my room!" She yelled.

"Alright!" Nero yelled from upstairs. As he came down the stairs he noticed Trish was leaning forward still grasping from the banister. "Are you okay?" He worried. He hesitated about leaving, but he really had to go.

"I'm okay" Trish said panting.

Nero carried her in his arms and took her upstairs to the bedroom. He laid her down on the bed. "Whatever you need, just call me, okay? I'll come over tomorrow"

"Okay, Nero. Thanks... goodnight" Trish said as she tried to relax. She tried to sleep face up and as soon as David felt her on the bed, he cuddled up with her.

"Goodnight" Nero said as he walked out of the room and headed downstairs. He turned all the lights off and closed the door. He headed back home hoping it'd be alright.

Despite Trish's exhaustion, she wouldn't fall asleep that fast. She kept thinking of Dante and she felt so bad right now remembering the time when she left him. It had been more time than this and she had been the one to leave and it hadn't been the first time. She had left more than once and now she could tell how it feels to be the one who stays. Why was it different? Why did it hurt more when both sides are separated whatever the reason? She yearned for Dante's touch, to see his face again. She hoped she could see him again at least in her dreams for now. Of course she still remembered him, no matter how much time passes by, she would never forget anything about him, not a single detail. She felt like crying as she thought of him, of his handsome face, his attractive smile. She couldn't wait any longer to see him at last. She smiled and felt a little more relaxed and without noticing, she fell into a deep sleep.

Meanwhile in the Underworld, Dante was still slaying demons, but finally they had stopped appearing. He finished with all the remaining ones with the help of Rebellion, Balrog and of course Ebony and Ivory.

He swayed Rebellion for the last time, killing the last demon alive there. "Oohh... finally! I thought this was gonna turn into an endless party..." He felt tired for once since a very long time ago. He stabbed Rebellion into the ground. His arms and legs were a bit shaky so he simply let himself fall onto the ground. He needed a bit of rest. "...guess I'm not that young anymore" He gasped as his chest moved in and out with his heavy breathing. He felt if he closed his eyes, he'd fall asleep for a very long time and that wasn't a good idea. He tried his best not to close them, to keep awake, while he figured how to come back. He took a deep breath and pulled out the shard of Yamato from his pocket. He held it in front of his face wondering how to use it. He sat up and rested himself on the blade of Rebellion. "I'm coming baby, I'm almost there..." He said as he stood up resolved. He grabbed Rebellion again and put it at his back and he peacefully walked to his way out.

AN: so, what do you think? I've missed Dante so much these last few chapters, but fortunatelly he will be back for next chapter. I even started feeling weird of his absence haha.

I know many of you may feel weird about this Vergil/Trish thing going on but that's what I thought of to make it fit to the original story somehow. You can't judge till you read it all.

Thank you for reading, hope you enjoyed this, please leave your thoughts, comments in the box below. I'm opened for critics, don't be shy. I don't read minds.

Till next time. ;)
